Strikeforce: Mike Kyle replaces Jared Hamman against Rafael Cavalcante on June 6

An undisclosed injury has forced EliteXC veteran Jared Hamman to withdraw from his light heavyweight fight against fellow Elite XC acquisition, Rafael Cavalcante, on the next major Strikeforce event slated for the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., on June 6.

Hamman stepped in last month to replace Renato "Babalu" Sobral, who announced he was pulling out of his title defense against "Feijao" to focus on the birth of his second daughter. Now Cavalcante has once again been faced with a change in adversaries.

The hunt for a suitable replacement to face the Brazilian smashing machine was immediately underway, with UFC veteran Mike Kyle (11-6-1) eventually stepping in to fill in for Hamman on the preliminary card of the "Lawler vs. Shields" event.

Feijao made a name for himself fighting under the Elite XC banner throughout the 2008 fight campaign. He competed three times for the promotion, defeating John Doyle (knockout), Wayne Cole (technical knockout) and Travis Galbraith (technical knockout), keeping his record nearly perfect (a lone controversial disqualification loss to Marcio Cruz is the lone blemish on an otherwise perfect ledger).

Star-divide

All three of those wins were first round stoppages. In fact, Feijao has never been taken out of the second round in any of his six professional victories. He’ll look to keep that red-hot streak intact on June 6 to ensure that he remains the top contender in the division when "Babablu" is set return from changing dirty diapers.

Kyle has two previous Strikeforce bouts on his resume as well as stints in the UFC and WEC. His last appearance under Zuffa's sister-promotion saw him suspended for nearly two years after being DQ'd for illegal kicks and punches and then striking his opponent after the bell at "Cinco de Mayhem" back in May 2006.

Strikeforce: "Lawler vs. Shields" will be headlined by a match-up of the last reigning Elite XC middleweight champion, "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler, and the only man to ever hold the Elite XC welterweight title, Jake Shields. In addition, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski will throwdown with undefeated bruiser Brett "The Grim" Rogers.

The event will air live on the premium cable network Showtime on fight night, beginning at 10 p.m. ET. Stay dialed in to MMAmania.com before, during and after the show for all the Strikeforce event coverage you can handle.

Oh no his opponents just keep getting weaker and weaker.

Sorry to doubt Pyles chances in this one but he will get mauled by Feijao.

Mike Pyle might be a ex UFC guy and Feijao might only have a few fights under his belt but he trains with some of the best and deserves a quality opponent.

Feijao R1 KO

Doesnt really matter Ca$z. After Babz pulled out, and Randleman didnt step up, we knew he was going to face inferior competition. whether its Kyle, hamman or some other under qualified fighter, it wouldnt make a difference. All I know is Fejao is destroying someone on this card!

I’ve only got two words to sum up Mike’s skill level: “Justin Eilers”. Enough said..

No it was for his behaviour in a fight that got him DQ’d and he kept going for the guy anyway.

Is it just me or does it seem that in every promotion, in every card, it seems that the match ups keep changing with fighters getting hurt more often than before??
