UFC 101 tickets sales for 'Declaration' heat up for Philadelphia on Aug. 8

UFC 101 tickets for "Declaration," which just went on sale to to the general public on Saturday, May 23, are going fast, according to a NJ.com report, reaching more than 10,000 already purchased for the nearly 20,000-seat Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
And that should come as no surprise because it will mark the first-ever major pay-per-view (PPV) event for the promotion in the "Keystone State." UFC 101 also marks the UFC return to the East Coast region since "Validation" back in Nov. 2007.
UFC 101 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.
It will feature a main event between lightweight champion BJ Penn and number one contender Kenny Florian. In addition, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva will step up once again to compete at light heavyweight against former 205-pound champion, Forrest Griffin, in a three-round, non-title special attraction.
For fans who plan to be in and around the "City of Brotherly Love," remember that StubHub often has seats available even if the event is "sold out." So don't freak out if you haven't reserved your seats yet, but you may want to do it sooner rather than later.

Bought my tickets a few weeks ago! For those of you who don’t know, we maniacs are sitting in a suite. I got 1 or 2 spots left if interested (I have a few guys to get back to, demand has been high, I didn’t forget you). If interested, the price is 350, it includes food/drink. These are not the typical nose bleed suites, they are just above lower level. email me if interested

Must be runnin out of promo ideas cause “Declaration” is pretty weak. :P Awesome card though, those 2 fights alone are worth ordering it for.

Yea I don’t know whats up with Forrests Hair, and why they decided to put the two bald guys opposite the two guys with hair. Or why there are more bald champions than champions with hair? And thus the secret to mma success is revealed..

plug that into your betting algorithm.
by BulletproofTiger on May 27, 2009 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well the new plan now is to view the original odds, then to add -100 to whichever fighter is bald; reassess the situation and bet accordingly. Unless the bookies have already figured this out and are currently using the bald theory in their lines as is. I’ll need to do some more research, but my new approach to betting the fights, should be a lock.

Im predicting total domination by kenny, I see BJ winning one round at the most. BJs laziness , lack of motivation, and the fact that florian has improved tremendiously, will catch up with BJ, also training with GSP will make the fight against BJ seem like a cakewalk. prediction: bj gets humiliated, retires from MMA and is never heard from again

Declaration like the Declaration of Independence cause it’s in Philadelphia.
by Colin on May 27, 2009 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
cant wait to see kenny take away bjs title, afterwards bjs mom gets a shot at kenny, she has way moremfighting spirit than that quitter BJ Penn

They may have called it Declaration for historical purposes, namely the Declaration of Independence, which was written at the Continental Congress in . . . wait for it . . . Philadelphia!

Dammit Collin, you beat me to it while I was writing my novel of a post. :)

This is one I’d rather see on ppv than go to. The Philadelphia stadiums are located in the middle of poverty stricken dangerous ghettos.
by Colin on May 27, 2009 10:57 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Ummm, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Major highways like 95 drop you off right directly into the stadium parking lots. Big tough UFC fans afraid of south philly, how weak.
by lee on May 27, 2009 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
We’re not that tough. That’s why anonymously rip on fighters without actually fighting ourselves.

WOW, only half the seats sold???
I find that surprising. I thought there were a lot of fight fans in that area.
When the UFC finally comes to MSG, that will sell out the first weekend.

i love everyone seems to point to BJ’s last fight like that’s why he’s going to loose. Kenflo is not gsp, and he’s not going to be on Aug 8th either. Don’t get me wrong Kenflo is a tough fight, I just see BJ having the edge that night.

Griffin actually looks more like a monkey then Silva, LOL!

Section 102 row 23 BABY!!! got them at 1001 last thursday. surprised there is still this many seats available.
Word of Warning: Get there earlier rather than later. Phils game is at 705 and those tickets are all but gone for that night. For anybody who doesnt know the area, McFaddens is attached to the Bank and it is only a 10 min subway trip to get into center city which has got a few good bars (if you wanna pregame) If not then I am going to map out a section in the wach parking lot for Maniac pregame.

Sounds pretty good. I’ve been to Wachovia for a Flyers/Rangers game before and am excited for this event. I really expected seats to sell quicker. I’m driving from Long Island for the event with 5 others.
I heard a rumor about weigh-ins being the same day as the fight because of a PA law. Does anyone know if there’s truth to that?
by YouveGotGold on May 27, 2009 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no way. If so, you know Dana has already been there with doctors and fighters saying how bad of an idea that is. I heard they were trying to do that though, but they would need like a year notification so the fighters could get at their natural weight. Plus they would need to tweak the weight classes a lil.

i can’t see forrest winning, and i have been a fan of how scrappy he is..but i don’t think he cares to be champ as much as he just loves to fight..when you fight people as focused as silva and machida..i dunno..they have that six sense about what you are gonna do..plus forrest (IF he did land one) doesn’t have the KO power that other people do..he just has that personality that is sarcastic (which i don’t mind at all) and he is goofy almost, which makes me think, as good a fighter that he is, just doesn’t have that mental focus..he LOVES to fight which is great but at the end of the day i see silva schooling the piss outta him..but who knows..i’d be stoked if he wins (forrest) just cuz he’s got all the heart a fighter needs..

The cheaper tixs were gone FRi at 10:15 for the newsletter presale. I tried to get tix Sat too and they were gone. Only $600 seats left. How do cheaper tixs sell out before the newsletter presale and general public. Is there that many people in the FightClub. That’s BS. They are all over Stub Hub and EBay. Something needs done with the scalpers! Alot of people are pretty pissed.
