Wilson Reis vs Roberto Vargas on tap for Bellator 'X' on June 5

Former Elite XC 145-pound champion Wilson Reis (7-1) will get a quick turnaround after suffering the first loss of his career in the semifinals of the Bellator Fighting Championships featherweight tournament two weeks ago in Robstown, Texas on the Bellator VI card.

The Brazilian native will look to get back into the win column against Roberto Vargas (6-0) on the Bellator Fighting Championships 'X' card at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California on June 5.

Reis is a 24-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu stud who previously owned an undefeated record of (7-0) in professional mixed martial arts. He was the clear favorite heading into the Bellator tournament which started back in April.

While Reis appeared to be on track to fulfilling his role as the favorite after dispatching Mexican fighter Henry Martinez in the opening round with a dominating unanimous decision win, his tournament run was abruptly ended as he fell in the semifinals to undefeated former All-American wrestler Joe "The Hammer" Soto four weeks later.

This fight with be his third in less than a two month span after sitting out for nearly eight months following the Elite XC contract disputes.

Star-divide

Vargas, an undefeated two-fight Sho XC veteran, also competed on the Bellator VI card in "The Lone Star State" two weeks ago, taking Daniel Pineda the full three rounds and earning a unanimous decision victory. Prior to that, Vargas had only gone the distance in one other fight. His other four victims were either submitted or taken out with strikes.

Both of these guys rely on strong submission games, meaning this should be a highly technical ground battle. In fact, they've both finished right around fifty percent of their opponents by way of tapout.

Also being showcased on the Bellator X card will be the championship match from the promotion's featherweight tournament, featuring Soto, who will be squaring off against Yahir Reyes -- a man who's pulled off back-to-back upsets, including a spectacular spinning backfist knockout over Estevan Payan to reach the final round.
