I cant believe Rampage is coaching TUF again, what a bore! I’m sick of this dude. He wasnt even a good coach the first time around. Now I can only assume they want Rashad to be the opposite coach, But when Machida eats his lunch on the 23rd I guess they will go with someone in another weight class. Seems like a pretty whack 10th season, I would think they would do something more original but like with 100, they seem to be dropping the ball. I’m thinking this will be the final season of TUF which makes me wonder what they will come up with next to generate new talent.

by RoB on May 14, 2009 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t see the point of this, Rampage was the coach recently, why bring him back again. And once again the LHW title is going to be put on hold for a while, there goes my faint hope that Rampage would get his shot at 103. Not good news at all.
by David W-S on May 13, 2009 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would enjoy this only if Shogun is the opposing coach and they fight at the end with no title being held up.
by JRE on May 13, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That would be an awesome scenario but right now Rampage is the only guy deserving of a title shot after Lyoto-Rashad, so I don’t see who would get the next shot if both Rampage and Shogun are on TUF, so the other coach has got to be the LHW champion (unless the Anderson-Forrest winner is given the next shot as a dominant win for Silva or an upset win for Forrest could potentially earn either guy a crack at the belt).
by David W-S on May 13, 2009 6:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Right, but since the likely scenarios for those two fights are Anderson beating Forest and Machida beating Evans, we would once again be left without a title fight, as there is no way Anderson will fight Lyoto.

Excellent addition to the conversation to both Bennie (I want to be a gangster) Blanco and Dirtbag. Kudo’s to you guys for loving to watch Rampage so much, because thats what it boils down to. I for one would like the show to be new and entertaining but hey, you know what lets just get Forrest and Rampage back on there so you two cup jockies can pleasure yourselves to Rampages’ one liners and quips.

doesnt matter what you think of this guy, he did bring the ufc to where it is (except he didnt do it on his own, he should thank the frettita’s wallets). But if ufc wants to completely be in the mainstream and be completely accepted he will have to change its ways and he knows it, as much as he doesn’t want to admit it.

because the interview was done before the information came out .He gets money from a lobbing group who is known to be enemies of Stations Casinos,I can not remember the name of the group but it was proven last month. They can not throw him out ,they all get paid by groups like this all the time .It is the main reason nothing ever gets done in our government

Hey David I found the story I tried to post the link ,but it did not get past moderation. The title is "is Bob Reilly a liar,on top of everything else "on cagepotato
by scott on May 13, 2009 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bob Reilly is a moron, I can’t believe that someone with no clue about the sport is able to rant about it in such a negative light on TV and in congress. It’s pathetic, if you don’t even know what MMA is called (no Mr Reilly, it isn’t “ultimate fighting”) then how can your views be valid, it’s as inappropriate asking him for his opinion on MMA as it would be to ask my mum yet this idiot has his views broadcast on mainstream sport stations and is able to obstruct legislation on the sport.
Does he also have a problem with boxing? Because like MMA that is a combat sport with specific rules and regulations set by state athletic commissions. Does he also see BJJ, karate, judo or wrestling as too violent? MMA is simply a sport that allows all of these martial arts and more to be practiced in a single fight, it is no more or less dangerous than anyone of these sports, so if you ban MMA then you are saying that these martial arts are too violent and you should ban these as well, you can’t have a credible viewpoint if you single out one combat sport from the rest as too violent.
Whilst I agree that the Loretta Hunt video was not an appropriate way for a figurehead of any organisation to act, it didn’t actually have anything to do with the sport of MMA, so it should not affect your opinion on the sport. Dana White is not the only man who runs an MMA group and if you believe that this is the case then you are not well enough informed to make a political decision on the sport.
by David W-S on May 13, 2009 5:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs

Just read it Scott, this Reilly guy is unbelievable, not only is he crooked but when he got caught out he actually had the audacity to blame “Ultimate Fighting” for the story. Anyone who voted for this clown needs to think more carefully about the next person they vote into Congress. He actually makes British politicians look like decent people in comparison and that’s saying something.

That Reilly was a complete tool and’s one of those idiots who’s never seen an MMA fight in his life. Shows how Dana White can have a real negative influence on people though. If he just toned town his vile language and engaged his brain before he opened his mouth, clowns like this Reilly wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. As it is now Reilly’s able to hold Dana White up as a boogeyman figure who typifies all that is bad with the sport!

4 things I got from this interview….
1. Dana says "I" alot when "they" (Lorenzo and Frank) would be more appropriate, considering it was there money.
2. Dana got into MMA by riding Tito and Chuck’s coattails, and now can’t do one single interview without pissing on the very people that helped get him to where he is today.
3. Dana is still oblivious to the fact that acting like a juvenile delinquent whilst representing a company will not work considering the very people that he says are going to help continue the growth of his company (people outside the 28-34 year old demographic) will not stand for his attitude. Let’s face it, if a 44 year old woman saw a Dana interview, she’d change the channel…..and make her kids change it too.
4. Dana White is a big fan of Don King….’nuff said.

As far as D. White goes, I have no problem him hating Ortiz. Im not up to par as to what exactly happened between D. White and Militech. I hate the way D. White handled the Chuck Liddell Retirement Issue and he was off the hook with the Loretta Hunt Blog. I wish he would tone it down a few notches, and quit with the word “I”, shows how much he is full of himself lately. Other than that I don’t want some stuff shirt president as Head of the UFC. I hope D. White is UFC President until he retires!

by RoB on May 14, 2009 8:41 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
4 things from your rant:
1. It was “their” money, not there money.
2. Dana White got to where he was by working hard, he met a few people but in reality he worked hard. And being Chuck’s manager didn’t give him the ability to get the 2 million to buy the UFC, a good connection did.
3. Have you ever thought that trying to PLAY or CATER to everyone may make something great horrible? Star Wars was a cool movie, then they started adding all this cheesy stuff to please kids and get more female fans… There are many things in life that were great (even people) but then when they try to please everyone it becomes horrible. Dana is fine taking his demo: young adult males (28 is not the lowest part of his demo). If he takes that demo across the WORLD, then he will be doing just fine. Whats better? Young adult males across the WORLD or all ages and sexes in america?
4. Dana White is more successful than you or me. ’nuff said.

4 things you got ‘wrong’ from this interview because of you’re anti-Dana feelings;
1. Dana did say “I” a lot because he did most of those things, but the Fertitta’s said “Dana” way more. Not to mention Lorenzo pretty much said they owe it all to Dana. AND, do you really think that every successful person in this world used their own money to make their idea into reality?
2. Actually, Dana got Tito and Chuck to where they are today – he was their manager. He only talks about Tito when he’s asked about it, he doesn’t just spit it out on his own.
3. Yeah, you’re right, acting like a juvenile won’t work. The UFC is ‘only’ worth over a billion dollars. Yeah, that really sucks. Just for kicks, three years from now I’ll ask my wife if she’s offended by Dana since it doesn’t bother her now.
4. That’s such a ‘smart’ comparison, did you come up with that all by yourself???

As much as I love MMA, it doesn’t have a hope of being bigger than football. The game is a worldwide phenomenon and has been around for 100 years. It’s easily the biggest sport in the UK as it is in the majority of Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. Combat sports will never attract as wide an audience as football, even boxing is nowhere near as big on a worldwide level. I do think MMA has the potential to become bigger than boxing and the UFC is currently dominating the PPV market but it won’t ever become bigger than non-combat sports because it will always attract specific demographics.
by David W-S on May 13, 2009 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs

fuuuu, why did they have to lie.
Dana said he won’t pay for Tito’s back surgery because Tito said after the fight he couldn’t perform coz he hurt it in training.
Therefore, the insurance couldn’t cover it(pre-exisiting injury).
This part of the interview is only in bloodyeblow.
The version published really makes Dana look bad, as they quoted the negatives about his persona more strongly.
by Megumi-Fujii on May 13, 2009 7:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It does not matter which edition you watched ,point of the story on that issue is he didn’t want to pay because he hated Tito, pre existing condition,uh maybe because he has been fighting in UFC for 12 years where else would the injury sustained,do not say training, because Nate hurt his in training.

I have no idea why they would spin it this way either, maybe because I fit into Dana’s target demo I will never be able to see how saying and doing whatever you want as the promoter of a successful company could be a bad thing. I like to think of Dana White to be a little less clownish looking than Donald Trump or Don King, but they definitely played off the south Boston bit to make him look like a clown.
by Rancho Coocoo on May 13, 2009 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah that edit annoyed me, they only showed the comments that would make Dana look like an arse. Unfortunately all of the media always like to edit interviews in order to show people in a specific light, usually negative. But it’s pretty stupid that ESPN themselves released longer videos of the interview that places that part in its proper context and blatantly shows that the edit was done to manipulate the audience into siding with Tito.

I love how White says he built the UFC by himself…what a joke! He used the Fertitta’s money and continues to take advantage of the fighters with restrictive contracts that have kept the UFC from being popular. He talks like a tough guy, but won’t back it up except with bullying tactics. He admits that he ran from a fight in Boston but wants to be known as the toughest guy around.
He has done some great things for the UFC, but the company will not take the next step with him doing what he does now. He needs to realize the business is about the fighters and the fans who support them, and not Dana White. The sport needs a group of guys in charge that have fighters who fight the best from all organizations.
Dana won’t have anything to do with someone who doesn’t roll over for him…don’t partner with us, f*@# you. Look at the revenue and expenses of the UFC, and then look at what percentage the fighters see and tell me he has the fighter’s best interests at heart.

I see Dana White two different ways:
1. He’s that guy that looks at the establishment and gives them the middle finger and a big “Fu** You!” He says the things to people we wish we could say to our bosses and people that have wronged us. He has built an empire with little more than street smarts and a little bit of elbow grease. He makes no apologies and he has the bank roll we power that we all strive for, he is an icon.
2. He is the rich guy that uses his employees and when he’s done with them just throws them away like you would a candy wrapper and shows no remorse. He’s a bully, a tyrant and an ego maniac that if he had the chance would keep more money for himself and pass you on the street and tell you, “get a job!” knowing full well he just threw you and your family on the streets with nowhere to go.
Unfortunately in our world he is the type of person that commands that kind of power because of what he does and how he does it: in a ruthless manner and would step over his own mother to get a cup of coffee and not think twice about it.
You either love him or hate him, there is no mixing of the two. I put him in the same category as Vince McMahon and Don King.
If the opportunity presented itself would you work for him? Ask yourself that before you come to any conclusions, he can make you a millionaire or throw you away with injuries and nothing but lint in your pockets.
Although, if not for Dana White there would be no UFC.

Don King sucked the life out of every fighter he ever met…..Dana loves him.
Speaks for itself.

I for one am impressed at what Dana White has done without any formal education. It just goes to show that there is a difference between theory and practice and and all the knowledge in all the textbooks in the world can’t always teach you how to be successful. I think his unconventional style has actually helped him alot. This isn’t polo, its mma. He wears those gnarly black t’s and is always swearing. It must correlate well to the market share who are fans of the sport. This is just what he needs to get noticed, not to mention all the free pub from all his haters. The UFC is huge now and the controversy surrounding Dana White has certainly helped that cause.
GO DANA!

You can do anything without education if your childhood pal’s a billionaire!

I don’t think anybody was a billionaire when Dana White began with the UFC. Maybe today though. I guess it isn’t what you know, but who you blow.

The majority of anyone successful are only successful because they had someone rich lend a hand, so what is your point?
Dana is the man and I like his style, some people can’t deal with brutal honesty some people can, I’m a person that prefers it.
I also love when people try to compare Dana and the UFC to other sports organizations. Dana is not Goddell or Stern and the UFC is not the NFL or NBA, get the F over it. Hell yea it would be insane if one of those CEO’s went on an internet rant but it’s because they are suits and that is not their image. Dana has been the same person since the beginning. The UFC was made successful on it’s own money. Remember when the UFC only had Mickey’s as a loyal sponsor? So like he said in the interview, F em. UFC is still king of PPV’s, UFC is still expanding worldwide without the help of suits. So I’m glad they are not trying to please everyone. Stay exactly how it is, foul-mouthed Dana and all.

I’d like to have seen him try obtaining the money from a bank, No Chance!!!
My point is anyone could have done what Dana’s done if you’ve got a billionaire friend who’ll buy a failing business for you and give you 10%. Hell I’d give that a go!
Dana’s only where he’s at coz he happened to go to school with a pair of billionaire brothers otherwise he’d still be teaching boxcercise classes in some backstreet Boston Gym. FACT!

And again that can be said about alot of people that are currently successful. There are few that got there by just hard work. As there are plenty of people with million dollar ideas that are just waiting for their big break. We don’t have time machines so no one can say where the UFC or MMA would be if it weren’t for Dana and the Fertitta brothers . And speaking of hard work, it seems Dana is one of the hardest working dudes in the business, he loves the sport and seems to care for the fighters. No matter how the media portrays him and how many outside fighters/promoters bash him, he has to be doing something right or fighters would be jumping ship left and right. Most fighters that end up being let go work their ass off to get back to the UFC. What does that say about the UFC?

Yeah it says the UFC is successful, we all know this and Dana’s worked hard to get it there, we all know this. We’re not talking about a self made man here though a la Sralan Sugar. To hear some people on here you’d think he built the company from the ground up by starting off promoting hobo fights on street corners using his last 5 bucks. The reality is he was given an established global company (admitedly a failing one) by his two millionaire mates.
The original point I was responding to was the one about Dana being a shining beacon for what can be achieved without an education. My point was Dana’s only achieved his success without an education because he knew two billionaires who bought him a company. We’d all love to be given that oppportunity.

Dana White is a business mogul, had an idea he was passionate about, convinced individuals with money to jump on it, he ran with it & today he is as successfu as ever. At the end of the day, you can never satify everyone, so u might as well do u and be yourself. This works for him, dont understand why people cant see this. He is a businessman and handles his business with an iron fist, & has made it extremely successful…eating up all competitors, so f*** wut other people think, comparing him to othe sporting presidents….he aint them and this is MMA!

Tito Ortiz is a little bitch! He looked like he was going to cry. The sport has passed him by and he knows it. If he would have kept his mouth shut, I would bet a million dollars Dana would have payed for his surgery. But when you go around wearing a shirt that says Dana White is my bitch! Well, you basically just told your boss he is a bitch and most bosses tend to fire you after that. Welcome to the real world Tito!
