I got $300 on sherk. THis fight is a lock, dont let the odds scare you guys away!

by john on May 11, 2009 8:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i’m with you john i’ve got £100 on sherk which used to be worth around $200 but isn’t anymore because of the god damn recession now the $ and £ are roughly worth the same

anyways sherk FTW

by ufcaddict on May 11, 2009 9:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh… Sherk’s All Access circa 2007 sans Rachelle Leah. Sherk has got this one for sure. He’s way to big for Edgar. Maybe after this he’ll drop to 145.

I want to see BJ Penn do this workout! round one….4 minutes of continuous workout….and we’re done.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on May 11, 2009 10:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Could never happen. Well if he did he’d have to go to Kona for 4 weeks- you know because he can feel his body hitting a wall and he doesn’t peek too early and all…:/

by DSmith on May 11, 2009 11:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah i agree John, this is a lock.

Sherk does everything better than Frankie. I recon he’ll work him on the feet for the first two rounds then take him down and maul him on the floor in the third.

by Nick J on May 11, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would love to see Sherk get a couple big slams in this fight, not just takedowns. The pound the guy out, for god’s sake, don’t just wrestle around with him.

sean sherk and gleison tibau cut serious weight for 155 its sick to see how big they are

by the heat on May 11, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Geez, it was just a year ago everyone was busting The SteroidShark Sherk and was on the BJ Penn bandwagon, and now its the other way around.

Pft.

Sean tested POSITIVE for Nandrolone people (a decision taht was not overturned), and BJ stood up for something unpopular and because of it the rules have changed that legitimizes the sport just alittle bit more.

It’s nice to see Sean work hard, dont get me wrong – but i dont see what BJ did is worth all this hate – seriously. If the grease was a factor – id say it might be even more of a factor than the nandrolone was for sherk – and i LOVE GSP.

by Jerrold on May 11, 2009 12:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well put

by ja434650 on May 11, 2009 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t hate BJ. However, he’s earned himself some teasing. We’ve seen walking underwater with rocks over his head and we’ve seen him balancing on a ball in some dude’s garage. Oh, and some ping pong. You see Sherk’s workout and it makes the contrast to real training clear. If you’re a BJ fan, the real horrific part is that BJ picked Sherk apart. Doesn’t seem like the universe should work that way.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on May 11, 2009 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t know what you’re reading Jerrold. I believe Ovaries- well I’ll speak for myself- I was referring to BJ’s work ethic (which from what I recall has always been a topic of discussion and is still relevant) not greasegate. It’s not hate. I can be a BJ nuthugger and still not think he’s the hardest working mf’er out there.

by DSmith on May 11, 2009 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed DSmith, I’ll be rooting for Penn, but do I think he trains even remotley close to this hard? No way.

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. Penn is a great fighter, but he wouldn’t last more than halfway through one of Sherk’s workouts, and even that is being a bit gracious. Penn is much more skilled than Sherk, but does not have Sherk’s type of work ethic. Imagine what Penn would be able to do if he did.

by naturalshadow on May 11, 2009 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

although virtually ur right john….“anything can happen in MMA”….think il stick with the safe bet…

edgar by flying scissor heel hook haha.

Fuck i love Sherk – absolute dedication – damn he is explosive like i mean in the BJ fight although he couldnt hit Penn everytime he got tagged with a jab his little responding hook was lightning quick…just limited power behind it! just a pity genetics fucks him over with the small arms and legs or heed be a killer! Leverage is everything!

by Randy for Couture on May 11, 2009 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Talk about overtraining…. i think hes looking past Edgar a bit…. Sherk is by no means a lock, personally i think he lost to griffin to

by JV on May 11, 2009 7:49 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

crazy but does anyone else wonder how these guy are so big and so fit. these guy have cardio for marathons but can also bench their weight and more.

by ruan-fiy on May 11, 2009 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s not an easy combo. Marathon runners have a hard time keeping bulk muscle because their bodies adapt to surviving long periods of cardio. They almost go into auto pilot.
These guys are working a sprint style cardio that trains their bodies do endure the “cardio pain” without sacrificing their size.
Tried it,(novice version)and it sucks big time! Yep, back to the 3 days a week for me. Hats off to these guys cause it is twisted what they do for these fights.

BJ must be laughing right now…trains half as hard and is the number 1 light weight

by Robert(1) on May 11, 2009 8:19 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Maybe if BJ trained that hard he could have given GSP a fight instead of crying for his mommy on his stool!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 8:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

BJ has no business fighting at 170… at light weight he made Sherk look so silly

by Robert(1) on May 11, 2009 9:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not half as silly as the sight of a grown man crying!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 9:55 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

True! BJ was never in that fight with GSP. One of the most one sided fights I have ever seen. That in itself is not really shameful, but having your mom testify on your behalf in a plea to overturn that beatdown is disgraceful.

by Hal on May 11, 2009 9:44 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yea cause he really needs roid to bulk up to that massive 155 lbs… please get off it, its obvious the guy works his @ss off, not everyone on the planet with a great physique is on steroids.

Ummmmm he was! Do you not read the papers?

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 11:34 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, I actually read through the REBUTTLE that he and his lawyer came up with as well; and it’s a perfectly reasonable argument supporting that that test was a false positive.

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ohhhhhhhhh, that old one. Pity Ben Johnson never tried that one at the 88 Olympics. He got caught, own up, be a man and move on!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 11:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What old one? To my knowledge he’s only tested positive for steroids one time, and that was a very questionable test, and the people with the CSAC were very incompetent with the sample submitted to them.

Horse Shit!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

FFS, the guy tests positive, is caught bang to rights, stripped of his belt and suspended. What more proof do you want?? A signed confession, photographic evidence???? Get over it!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Those tests aren’t infallible, they’re not 100% right 100% of the time; not even close. How is it that things are so black/white; 100% complete and reliable in your perfect little world? Why take on the “don’t confuse me with facts my minds made up” stance on a questionable subject?

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agreed o damn. attackdog, sherk offered to do a lie detector test. and took one. 3 times. passed every time. he then offered to give the CSAC a blood sample which would be much more accurate than urine, because the first test was done using a urine sample, and yes, very questionable procedures took place. the CSAC denied sherk’s request to do a blood test, and instead reduced his suspension to 6 months. thats retarded. and fyi, nandrolone is a natural substance in the human body, sherks level was simply too high. so its very very plausable that the test was a false positive.

by Andrew on May 11, 2009 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Loopholes and technicalities. If the guy was innocent, how come he wasn’t given his belt back straight away on return to the UFC??? If people are going to nitpick every single positive drugs test then nobody’s ever going to be convicted and cheats like Sherk are forever going to tarnish the name of this sport.

by attakdog on May 12, 2009 4:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“Loopholes and technicalities. If the guy was innocent, how come he wasn’t given his belt back straight away on return to the UFC???”

His first match upon returning was a title fight against BJ PENN. He was thrown right back in to contend for the belt! wtf are you smoking? And YES if you’re innocent you should “nitpick” and not allow the CSAC to walk all over you. Christ, following your advice everyone should just bend over and take the shaft for other people’s screw ups!

by O damn he got caught on May 12, 2009 8:12 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree, however I will submit to you that most of the people on the Planet who test positive for steroids are in fact on steroids!!!!

by attakdog on May 11, 2009 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lol, butt hurt because you’re blind bashing on Sherk despite the facts is wrong? Thats why you go straight for the throat and start personally attacking my intelligence? Yea don’t bother looking at facts; or reading anything that might contradict your uninformed uneducated opinion. Maybe if the transcript on the case were written with coloring pages and pop up sections you could understand what really went on.

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 12:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cry me a river! Tell me what the weather’s like when you take you’re head from up Sherks ass! The facts are he got caught roiding up, was stripped of his belt and served a suspension! Sounds guilty to me!

Hal-

LMAO.

by OJR on May 11, 2009 12:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The facts are he passed 3 polygraph tests, that the sample submitted by Sherk was handled improperly IE: every time they test a sample they are supposed to clean the machine and test it on purified water, if the machine comes up with anything but a negative result they are to clean the machine and then retest on purified water before moving on to a submitted sample. This was not the case as admitted by the CSAC they ran Sherks sample back to back with random athletes that could be from any sport!

The personnel never logged times for when they took the sample from the freezer or put it back in, in the log book it says sample taken out on such and such date. Then the next entry might be them taking it out again; there is no telling how long it sat out on a counter or wtf happened with it during that time. I could go on and on but this an OLD, DEAD issue.

If you want to blindly believe whatever you’re told and let your personal bias effect every opinion you make then thats fine, keep on droning.

i only have one, and its only cuz its autographed. but O dam is right. give it a rest, its a dead issue.

Bottom line is Sherk will beat the crap outta Frank Edgar

by Synyster on May 11, 2009 1:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I like Sean Sherk, I look forward to his fights, I’m not a huge fan but it is possible that this was a false positive or a result of tainted supplements of some kind. And with the incompetence displayed by the CSAC as well as their incoherent appeals process and decision to reduce Sherk’s sentence, I think it’s at least worth questioning or thinking about and not just accepting as a fact.

You’re guys best argument is “he’s buff, he’s guilty”. And the o so genius “your dumb, your parents wish you weren’t born”; that was grade school calibur right there. At least come up with something substantial to support your bashing.

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not if he forgets to take off his isolation mask before the fight.

by Hal on May 11, 2009 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m not a Sherk fan but I agree that he has a very legitimate argument against the positive steroid test. O Damn didn’t even bring up the fact that even though his appeal didn’t overturn the decision, they did shorten his suspension. Do you think the CSAC would have done that if they were confident that he used steroids? I certainly don’t. Some people just love bashing certain fighters and don’t like to let things like ‘facts’ or ‘evidence’ get in the way of their hate.

by GregC on May 11, 2009 1:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He tested positive for steroids – EVIDENCE – everything else is just speculation – FACT -

by Hal on May 11, 2009 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So passing 3 polygraph tests, the specimen being submitted to the CSAC was handled improperly ie: not properly documented, maintained or properly tested as is supported by the logs kept by the employees themselves and the CSAC reducing Sherks sentence are all just speculation? Right…

by O damn he got caught on May 11, 2009 2:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You’re right Hal. The 3 polygraph tests he passed are just speculation. So is the admission of the CSAC that they improperly handled his sample when they tested it.

by GregC on May 11, 2009 3:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i believe that Sherk didnt intentionally do drugs atleast!

by Randy for Couture on May 11, 2009 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ok Ok, Greg C, O Damn, you got me. I’m the idiot here.

Boys, he tested positive for steroids. Is it possible that it was a mistake, I guess, but it’s just a possible that there wasn’t and in this case there is more tangible evidence to suggest that he did. All the he said she said about handling, and the polygraph tests that were administered by who knows who is just smoke and mirrors. There’s a reason they don’t use those things in court, and there’s a reason that a rapist who leaves semen at the scene will likely still go to jail even if there is speculation about shabby work in the lab.

I’m not calling sherk a rapist, i’m just saying. The argument that he did not do them has less substance than the argument that he did do them.

At the end of the day he will not be a champ as long as there is elite competition in his division. He has fought the best and been beaten handidly on every occasion.

by Hal on May 11, 2009 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

O damn is right. There is plenty of evidence to show that the test was not 100% accurate. One thing I can’t help but notice is that he still looks exactly the same, and trains just as hard. We know he has past several tests since then.

by naturalshadow on May 11, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

WOW, how the hell does he make 155?? HE is jacked and then they said he lifts for 45 min after..sounds like too much muscle to cut. Although he is a professional/wrestler so his cuts arent so bad im guessing

by E.Mac on May 11, 2009 10:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

dunno what first song is but the 2nd one is that tune from Blade the movie…

as for the whole roid thing, maybe he did maybe he didnt, not all tests are fool proof ( when they first brought breathalysers in to the uk you tested positive for alcohol if you drank acidic drinks like orange juice or whatever)

but end of day he did the time, didnt wine to much about it, and is working out hard, so fair play to sherk, as they say pencils come with erasers as everyone makes mistakes

Sherk for the win GnP end of round 1 or early 2nd, well thats if he aint peaked to early and is gassed by time fight comes around

Edgar couldn’t handle the massive, strong wrestling of Maynard. He sure the hell won’t be able to handle Sherk.

After this, Sherk should face Maynard.

by robert on May 11, 2009 11:21 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree on both accounts. I think Sherk will handle Edgar with relative ease, and that Maynard would be a great follow up. That fight could earn Sherk a title shot with a win, and Maynard would probably only need one more big win to earn a title shot if he pulled it out.

by RyanHobbs on May 11, 2009 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d like to see that fight too, but I think it would be a pretty one-sided beatdown by Sherk. I think Sherk could frustrate Guida in much the same way that Guida frustrated Mac Danzig in their fight.

by GregC on May 12, 2009 2:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The wrestling would likely cancel eachother out. Sherk seems to be big on boxing these days too so I would give the stand up advantage to Sherk.
