UFC Quick Quote: War between Dana White and John Hackleman on future of Chuck Liddell opens up new front
"Obviously, John Hackleman didn’t pay his house off yet. John Hackleman needs some money, because anybody who claims they care about Chuck Liddell even a little bit would not be making these f--king statements.... F--king right I wouldn’t [let Liddell fight for another promotion] .... [But] at the end of the day, if that’s what he wanted to do, I mean, what am I going to do? I’m not his f--king father. I can’t tell him, ‘No, you f--king can’t.’ ... [Hackleman has] never been a decision-maker in Chuck’s career. I can tell you this: He didn’t make Chuck Liddell. Chuck Liddell made John Hackleman. How many great, talented guys do you see coming out of John Hackleman’s place? He’s no Greg Jackson. He’s no Mark DellaGrotte. He’s no American Top Team. He’s not one of the great camps. Chuck Liddell made him."
-- UFC President Dana White (via Sherdog.com) launches the latest salvo in the war that he promised would ensue if his good friend top star, Chuck Liddell, did not retire after recently sustaining his fourth loss in five fights. Liddell's long-time trainer, John Hackleman, feels "The Iceman" should be able to make that decision on his own and will in time. White insists that Liddell must retire, revealing that the San Louis Obispo, Calif., native promised that he would do just that if he lost bad to Mauricio Shogun Rua at UFC 97: "Redemption" last month. He did. Now White seems to feel that Hackleman has other motives to keep Liddell on the fighting circuit. Namely, money. In fact, Hackleman mentioned that if his fighter wanted to keep fighting that he would consider doing it in another promotions if White didn't want Liddell playing on his "playground" anymore. This is getting ugly ...

Yea he’s got a point, Hackleman has no other big name fighters; Chuck is his one and only cash cow.

He’d still make decent money if Chuck taught at his camp.

Dana’s just an idiot who’s really talking himself into trouble. He realized he can’t control Chuck and now is trying to bad mouth John.
Did anyone ever think that Dana is still going to continue to profit off a retired Chuck??? I’d assume that Dana’s cash cow will prosper more outside the cage as a legend then he would inside as a washed up old fighter.
by Arnold on May 8, 2009 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions
Dana doesn’t make any money off Chuck except when Chuck is driving PPV sales up, so your point, sir, is hereby rendered invalid. The UFC is bigger than any one fighter, unlike EliteXC for example, which hitched the company wagon to a horribly overrated horse (Fergie).

I agree with PW. If Dana wanted to make money off Chuck he would pair him off againgst Houston and some other guys who he still might beat. Chuck gets hurt bad now he just doesn’t lose. I agree with Dana

Dana still makes money off of Chuck even when he is not in the octagon. I saw an awful lot of Liddell T-shirts, posters, dvd’s, and even cutouts in that UFC store that maybe nobody will want if he becomes washed up. I am pretty sure you can get a steal of a deal on Shamrock shirts.

Aren’t all Chuck products on sale right now also? Maybe it’s a move to clear out inventory before he decides to go somewhere else and get punched in the face.

PW – You’re right, I’m sure Dana doesn’t get a dime from video game sales, merch, tv ads, or any annuncing that Chuck would do for the UFC.

I agree with PYITO completely. This was the Iceman’s call to make. NO ONE else’s. Anyone here who remembers my posts knows that I normally defend 99% of Dana’s decisions, but this was low class. And heaven help if anyone disagrees with him. sometimes the guy should just keep his lips together. Better to remain quiet and be thought an a$$hole, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
by chefdaddy on May 8, 2009 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions
D. WHITE is a ‘CONTROL FREAK’… everything he’s saying is mostly spot on. However, he should have kept his mouth shut, and allow Chuck to announce what he wants to do.
by DAVE A on May 8, 2009 10:53 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, I like White and usually like what he says but this is bogus. Let Chuck make the decision. Let him fight lesser competition at least and then let him retire.
Chuck’s last five fights have been against top ten fighters in the division including the next champion and he also defeated Wanderlei who is still active.
So cut the guy some slack. Teach him to not be so driven by his hunger for a KO and to start blocking again and he should be able to still have some decent fights, win or lose.

These are such harsh words. He’s right but damn he didn’t have to gut him like that. All Hack said was that Chuck has yet to make a decision. I think at the end of the day Hack is just trying to create some space for Chuck because Dana has been running his mouth so much. The decision should and will be be Chucks. We all know what you think Dana- now shut and just give Chuck some respect as a man. Let him speak for himself from here on out.

I don’t really know anything about this Hackleman character but it seems to me that this is Chuck’s decision. Now, my personal opinion is that it probably is time for Chuck to hang up those gloves. His MMA days shouldn’t just end here though. Like mentioned above, if he pushed to start to a strong camp, his name alone would bring in some solid talent, and I imagine could train some very competitive fighters…..as long as they are a little more balanced than Chuck, imo.

In true anti-Dana Introvert fashion you left out:
“However, Hackleman said he and Liddell are in no hurry to discuss the pivotal decision just yet.
Nothing has been decided yet," Hackleman said"
Who the F**k is Hackleman?? “WE” haven’t discussed it yet. Isn’t Hackleman speaking for Chuck too? just like Dana is? Does that make him better?
So “Chuck” hasn’t made a decision, but “we” haven’t discussed it. Let Chuck go for a nice LONG stroll on that Hawaiian beach BY HIMSELF and muster up the courage to do the right thing for him.
LEAVE HIM ALONE HACKLEMAN!
by UFC Champ on May 8, 2009 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions
All coaches say “we” when discussing their fighters/teams. Have you never watched sports before? Would you rather someone like Hackleman said “man, I sure knocked that guy out tonight”? Or, a coach in football said “I sure threw alot of TD passes today”? A team is a team, pal…that’s why it’s called a “team”.
by introvert on May 8, 2009 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions
when making that kind of decision generally you go to your main trainer and talk it over, chuck has said him and hackleman have been friends for a long time so i think he would have a good opinion in the matter,
i say chcuk either takes a break and comesback like randy,or just fights a lower outside the top10 guy like bonesjones or someone he can beat and see how he does

Yea but Dana has a personal interest in this; I don’t get the whole picture either; but Jesse H. even said he wouldn’t pay for a PPV with Chuck headlining or even as a co-main event so it would stand to reason a lot of other people feel the same. Personally I’m on the fence with this, I really don’t want to see Chuck retire and go out like he did, but on the other hand I can’t think of any good match ups for him in the UFC besides maybe Brandon Vera. And then even if he did win; where would he go from there?

yeah but i mean chuck will never wear gold again, but i think he can still fight. i dont know, its been a tough time for chuck lately he deserves a win before he retires, not saying he would for sure beat Herring but it could be a good fight against a decent heavyweight.

I’d take Herring all day! He can’t take a LHW punch but will take Herring’s? laughable. UFC won’t pay him 500k just to show to fight a can!
by kevin on May 8, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions
i think chuck would be good at heavyweight. He has always been a big lightheavyweight. The reason he he has been losing as of late is his speed. In his knockouts from jackson and Rashad he has been to the puch and unable to avoid the big blows. At heavyweight the fight would slow down alot more for him.

by kevin on May 8, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions
I personally think Chuck should retire. I don’t want him going the way of the Shamrock. I don’t want him to take more damage than he needs to. I think they are both looking out for Chuck, but Hack is being more sensitive and respectful of Chuck’s feelings. Retiring is a big deal especially for someone who is still young (in real world terms). It’s probably a time when you need to give a guy some breathing room and not be a pitbull.

by randy murders on May 8, 2009 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions
Dana says he cant stop him fighting for another promotion, he’s not his father. Clearly you know you can stop him fighting for another promotion coz he still has one fight left on his contract. That’s the real reason Dana wants him to retire, so he still has power over him and no other promotion can make money off chucks back! Dana fears strikeforce putting on Chuck vs Tito 3 and making huge money. It has nothing to do with the good of his health. Look at the shadows of their former selves that Big Nog and Wandy have become and he isn’t calling for their retirement.

Anyone remember Royce Gracie being thrown into the cage with the most dominant WW in MMA history? Anyone notice the fight coming up between Mark Coleman and Stephan Bonnar?

So doesn’t that solidify Dana saying he cares for Chuck?
by UFC Champ on May 8, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions
No! Why does he keep booking Coleman in fights knowing how washed up he is if he cares so much for fighters health? It’s okay for 44 year old Coleman to be a gatekeeper and get the shit kicked out of him but not Chuck?
by attakdog on May 8, 2009 11:06 AM EDT up reply actions
No, UFC Champ…all that does is solidify that Dana’s obviously a two-faced prick that only uses the “friend” card when a very marketable fighter has one fight left on his contract, and could presumably make another promotion more money after his last fight.

Chuck and Dana are like best friends and at one point Dana managed Chuck. Chuck helped bring the company to the forefront.
Coleman did not.

Tell us something we don’t know zachy oh fountain of MMA knowledge. Coleman was the first UFC Heavyweight Champion, show him some respect, he helped bring the company on too. Your missing the point, Dana’s trying to play the concerned friend card with Chuck, making out he’s worried about his future health but lets 44 year old Mark Coleman, way past his prime, continue to fight and take severe beatings. Dana’s argument just doesn’t stack up!

Royce wasn’t “thrown into the cage” by Dana. Royce handpicked Hughes as his opponent, and must have felt he saw something in his style he could exploit. We now know he was wrong, but Royce wasn’t fed to the wolves.

Nog has only lost one time inside the Octagon since coming to the UFC; and apparently he was nowhere near healthy for that fight with Mir. Wand showed up on his UFC return and got fight of the night in a 3 rd war w/ Chuck, he goes on to KO Jardine and then he gets KO’d by page who’s considered a top 10 if not THEE best LHW in the world by many. For christ sake, give the guys a break their not doing all that bad at all.
As far as Chuck goes outside the UFC, I agree, I would pay to see Tito get KO’d by Chuck. That would probably be Strike Force’s show that launched them to that next level. Dana would never let that happen though.
by O damn he got caught on May 8, 2009 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions
Come off it o damn, Big Nog is a shadow of what he was. He’s so slow now. Wandy’s well past it too, he was awful against Chuck, okay he KO’s Jardine but that’s the story of Keiths career, and he was awful again against rampage.
by attakdog on May 8, 2009 10:43 AM EDT up reply actions
Come off what? wow, you have a skewed perspective on things, I watch the Rampage fight and he didn’t look bad at all, he got hit with a left hook that would have KO’d anybody. He defended a TD attempt by Rampage, initiated almost every exchange, the guy didn’t really get a chance to settle in or find any kind of rhythm cause the fight didn’t go past rd 1.
Nog’s been getting beat up and coming back to win fights his entire carreer, and he didn’t look bad against Herring or Silvia, He was schooling Herring in the striking till he ate that kick and he was eating some shots in the Tim fight but thats nothing new.
Wand at 32 years old is definatley not over the hill; you’re not giving either of these guys a fair assessment.
by O damn he got caught on May 8, 2009 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions
Nog’s definitely lost his speed now and is taking too much punishment. I thought he looked poor vs Herring, it is Heath Herring, he’s in nobody’s top 20, just a gatekeeper. Sylvia if he had any killer instinct would have finished him too. I don’t count the Mir fight as a loss for obvious reasons, but I really would fear for Nog’s health if he had to fight Brock or Carwin.
I really think Wandy is wahed up, he’s unrecognisable from the killer he was in Pride. 99 against Franklin will tell us if he’s still relevant, I do hope so because he could be good at MW.
by attakdog on May 8, 2009 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions
One more knockout for Wandy and it really might be ‘lights out’ I like Wandy, but Rampage laid him out flat badly.
If Dana and Chuck are such good friends, I don’t see Chuck leaving for Strikeforce, especially with their pathetic payouts.
If Chuck was really pissed at Dana, would they go to ’dega together? It seems like they were hanging out and having a good time in the vblog.
Here’s how I see it, Hackleman is in denial, Chuck is having a hard time accepting it.
by UFC Champ on May 8, 2009 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions
Honestly if Dana won’t let Chuck fight in the UFC I don’t think he really cares about the money all that much. If he really wanted to continue he’d take a fight for less imo. The guy is rich already and it seems like he just loves to fight. He’s a natural born fighter; you’re right in that he’s probably having a hard time accepting this.
by O damn he got caught on May 8, 2009 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions
Why can’t Dana just simply let things go?? Why oh why must he play the concerned father only when it suits him? Why…well, he makes it sound as if he is concerned for Liddell, when he is concerned about the tarnishing of a product…and he owns that product.
Allow the fighter to make the decision. If you chose not to promote, then do exactly that…shut your mouth and simply make decisions, not ethical opinions.
by Wags on May 8, 2009 10:37 AM EDT reply actions
the truth hurts for hackleman. dana’s simply stating it. this is a case of a truly talented fighter being held back by an inferior trainer. he helped him get to a certain level, but it’s really too bad that chuck didn’t seek out smarter and better trainers to come up with game plans for him and mix his game up once people started catching on to him and his style.

I agree with you here. It’s not uncommon for a fighter to train at different camps at the same to time solidify his all-around game. Chuck is as much at fault for not completing his game as is Hackleman. Hackleman primarily teaches kickboxing and if Chuck fealt he needed more he should have either brought someone in to the pit or went elsewhere.
by introvert on May 8, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions
Introvert,
Isn’t it the job of the coach to identify voids and train accordingly? The fighter’s usually won’t see all the little holes in their style, maybe just the big ones. Can’t blame a fighter that’s told to train like this or that.
by UFC Champ on May 8, 2009 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions
Partly trainer’s responsibilty…sure. But the fighter has to know that he’s getting KTFO for a reason. Who’s to say Hack didn’t train Chuck accordingly and Chuck decided to go back to square one in his fight with Shogun?
by introvert on May 8, 2009 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions
Dana is stubborn and can be a total douche. Once he forms an opinion, everyone else is wrong and he is 100% right. Dana does not have to ability to look at things from another perspective. Its always “I’m right, and the rest of the world is wrong.”
As for Hackleman, he is just a second rate coach that happened to befriend someone who turned out to be one of the all time greats. Unfortunately, Chuck let his friendship with Hack (and his love of partying) get in the way of his training. This is just another example of a great fighter getting into a comfortable training environment and letting the game pass him by.
F Dana and F Hack. The choice is Chuck’s. But if he does choose to continue, he definitely needs to move to a legitimate training camp full time.
And is it just me, or does it seem like Chuck has a substance abuse problem?

And considering his coach (whether you trust his intentions or not) is probably the most knowledgeable(sp) about Chuck’s mindset, desires, and future plans…and he states that Chuck hasn’t decided what he wants to do yet…then Dana is doing nothing but shitting on his “friends” legacy by bullying him into retirement. Sounds like a real “friend”….lmao. I’m guessing Chuck is the type that stands up to bullying, not back down from it…therfore, he will request to fight his last fight on his contract.

The best thing to do would be to put Chuck against Mark Coleman and scratch Bonnar. I bet chuck’s conditioning is better and if he won it, he wouldn’t take as much shit as if he just beat a can. It doesn’t matter. Hackleman is a friend of Chuck’s just like Dana is a friend of Chuck’s. Dana’s not Chuck’s only friend. Hackleman is entitled to his opinion. Hopefully, Hackleman doesn’t take the bate, and keep his end of this argument above the affray.

Chuck is the man but when it’s time… I think he knows Dana is right but is just not wanting to retire. Than pride thing !! Dana is trying to look out for his long time friend before Chuck goes up against one of these young bucks and gets seriously hurt. Noone of the young fighter are holding back because of his reputation. Hack is scared of losing his position and the money.

i think him and john are better friends them him and dana, i moght agree with dana but i fon’t agree with how he is doing it, it should be behind closed doors not puttin it out there like this.

Coke addicts just dont know when to quit, they need their best friends to come together and have an intervention to help them adapt to a new lifestyle without blasting a shots of coke up their nostrils.

Speaking of which!!! Anyone remember Chuck’s little episode on that television program? Where was his “friend” Dana then, when Chuck was obviously stoned out of his fucking mind an national television?…I’ll tell you where, in some room somewhere trying to think of what bullshit story he could come up with for damage control. What was it now?…“Chuck had the flu and was on medication”? What a real “friend” would be doing is calling around to find an AA/NA meeting to send his friend to, not looking for a way to cover his own company’s ass.
Dana’s business > Dana’s friendship…plain and simple.
by introvert on May 8, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions
Now you’re just plain ol guessing. If Chuck indeed had/has a problem, whose to say if and what Dana did for him?? Now you’re really getting out there.

I’ve got a bet for you guys….
If Chuck decides he wants to fight the last fight on his contract, and Dana obliges without a court battle…I will bet any one of you guys $100.00 that Dana throws another fight contract on his desk for Chuck to sign.
Any takers?
by introvert on May 8, 2009 12:37 PM EDT reply actions
If you have to ask my point, then you are obviously so far up Dana’s ass you can’t think straight.
by introvert on May 8, 2009 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions
my bad. i understand your point. dana should be irrational and allow a superstar that his company has spent likely millions marketing and promoting just walk away to the benefit of the competition. i think you’d be wise to get your GED so you can understand basic concepts like “return on investment”. since when was the UFC a charity?
loser.
by JB on May 8, 2009 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions
Oooooh, JB is talking about “GED’s”, but following up his educational lesson with…“loser”. Now that’s comedy.
The point JB, is that if Dana threw another fight contract in front of Chuck, it would solidy my and others argument that Dana does NOT care about Chuck as much as a friend like he is trying to spin this, but more as an investment. There, does that clear it up for you professor.
You lost credibility with the “loser” comment, Dr.
by introvert on May 8, 2009 6:05 PM EDT up reply actions
wait…you mean Dana is trying to spin this as though he is doing it as a friend? thanks for pointing that out Einstein. of course it’s spin. it doesn’t change the fact that this is all about money and offering another contract before fulfilling the first is a good business move that either one of us would do in the same situation.
haha…you feel the need to clear up the fact that this friendship stuff is all spin…hilarious…
i think i’d be concerned if i had credibility with you in the first place. so…thanks?

If hack-man had wanted to stretch out chucks career he should have started a few years ago reminding him that he has four limbs and not one. At this point chuck should retire and focus on his fifth limb pursuits, they’ve taken up most of his training time anyway.

I’m definitely with dana on this one, Chuck has a legacy as one of the greatest UFC and MMA fighters and to be another fighter who free falls to the shadows is something that dana and majority of mma fans would not want to see. Perfect example could be Mohammed Ali greatest boxer definitely, but he didn’t have to end his career in such a car crash like fashion
by SGTBlitz on May 8, 2009 1:01 PM EDT reply actions
Dana can be a douche at times.
I think deep down inside Chuck still wants to fight because it’s his life. True, he is old but we are talking about a former 4 time defending light heavyweight champ. Yeah he’s probably past his prime but if the man wants to fight let him fight. The media and Dana are blowing this thing out of proportion because UFC is big in mainstream media. These guys are fighters and they know the consequences when they get into that cage. Anytime you step in that cage you are putting yourself at risk for serious injuries or even death. These guys are trained modern day warriors and to deny Chuck of from fighting anymore and also announcing it to the media that he should retire is insulting.
Personally I would give Chuck another fight and let him retire with a win so he can end with a smile and retire peacefully. I think the mental side of Chuck is getting the worst of it not so much physically. Chuck always says John Hacklemen has been with him since day 1. So why is Dana trying to jeopardize their friendship by saying Hacklmen has dirty intentions? Once again Dana playing devils advocate.
by skelow on May 8, 2009 1:27 PM EDT reply actions
And don’t bulsh— me you know you would pay to watch it. Chuck has stated many times before he is done he would like to have a shot at Fedor. Even though his chances would be slim it would sell tickets & PPV as well besides Barnett, Chuck is the best fighter outside the UFC and Strikeforce that wouldn’t give up more than a 20 pound weight advantage to Fedor.
by Puck Head on May 8, 2009 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions
I personally hope Chuck retires now because I hate to see him getting KOed but if he wants to continue fighting, let him. I’ll still support him, win or lose.
by Lights Out on May 8, 2009 3:08 PM EDT reply actions
liddel’s the man and dana should be careful with his words about hacklemen. liddel practically made his ass too so he should shut up. he carried the UFC for years during his reign and kept them alive before the big boom of popularity.

by the spyder on May 8, 2009 3:11 PM EDT reply actions
Ya, because “he must have to pay his house off” is such a dignified, factual and professional thing to say, and pretty much throwing his “best friends” longtime trainer and good friend under the bus is really brilliant. Gee, how could nobody agree with that?
Please Spyder…get your head out of Dana’s anal cavity. Come out for air dude.

Here we go again. Someone agrees with Dana and Introvert is all over him. Whatever happened to everyone is entitled to their own opinion? Stop forcing your anti-Dana opinion down everyone’s throat.

Really hope that this doesn’t go any further. Dana White is ultimately going to ruin his personal and business relationship with Chuck if this continues down this path. Not that he cares or anything, because according to him, he made Chuck who he is today.
Yeah, Hack’s only “A” level fighter is Chuck, but obviously the Iceman thinks very highly of him both as a friend and as a trainer. One would have to believe that this is pissing Chuck off!
I really hate to see this happening. Chuck has and always will be my fav fighter, along with Arlovski. He deserves better than what Dana is doing. Yes, his days of being on top of the 205lb division are behind him, but he deserves to go out with his dignity and should be allowed to make the decision on his own. Hell, even if Dana said no matter what you are done, he should let Chuck make the announcement and keep his mouth shut!
Sorry for the rant!

Chuck should retire…….Ive never seen a fighters career plumet so fast. Chuck was great…..still is but isnt the same. His time is up, and Dana is looking out for him. If Chuck was his friend like he claims to be he should never dream of fighting for another organization. Who would want to go from fighting in the UFC to fighting bums in Bellator or Affliction ( wich seems to be the UFC’s waste pile anyway). Theres nothing left for him……
by Matty B on May 8, 2009 3:39 PM EDT reply actions
As much as I dislike Dana at times, I kinda agree with him on this one…but also if Chuck wants to keep fighting then just let the man be.
by Hispanic Panic on May 8, 2009 3:40 PM EDT reply actions
Totally agree, let the man be. If Chuck says he is not finished then he is not. Dana does not need to be making these decisions. Sure Dana can retire Chuck from the UFC, but he can not control the man.

Reading about all the recent boxers who have died due to brain swelling and head trauma it makes me sad. I don’t want to see a mixed martial artist go out like that, especially Chuck.
And if he won’t protect himself Dana is stepping in.
Chuck not only holds his hands too low but not tight enough to his body. Add to that his diminished speed and more importantly, reaction time and he’s going to get caught. In the past that was fine but now his legs give out when he gets nailed solid.
Check Rampage(2nd fight), Rashad, and Shogun and watch just his legs if you don’t belive me, in fact his legs gave out once in the Jardine fight and the Wandelei fight.
I don’t need to see Chuck get knocked again for spectacle just to heal his ego which must be hurt.
What does he have left to prove? He’s already an the former champion who beat almost everyone in his prime.
After all these years of training he simply can’t change his style enough to not get ktfo.
Just ask Hatton. You are what you are and Chuck’s a knock out waiting to happen.

maybe dana should retire all the guys getting ko’ed than.

I also agree with Dana on this one, and I really don’t think it’s about the money. I think one of the reasons Dana is being a bit more demonstrative in his opinion is because Chuck is a very close friend to him. This isn’t Golf or Major league baseball for that matter, this is MMA. In most sports, you keep playing when you’re over the hill, maybe you start missing short putts or you start giving up more home runs. We’re talking about a sport where you can seriously get your marbles scrambled!!! Chuck isn’t losing split decisions or even unanimous decisions, he’s getting his frickin lights knocked out. Look at how quickly he’s deteriorated…….I’m sure many of you saw that Morning Show clip from a year ago or so, when Chuck wall all punch-drunk and fell asleep in the middle of the interview. This dude is obviously “off” a little bit, and I don’t think it’s the type of thing that will come back to you. MMA has been good Chuck, and Chuck has certainly been good to MMA, but he needs to start thinking about his health, and if he’s not able to look out for himself, maybe he needs his close friend to do that for him……..

I say one more fight and let him retire gracefully. Who is Dana to tell him what he can and can’t do? \
I don’t want to see the Iceman get KO’d anymore either but like they said you are only as good as your last fight so I’m sure he does not want to retire with that disappointing loss on his mind.
I am a fighter myself and when I win its the best natural high ever but when you lose it can be the most emptiest depressing feeling. Look at Evan Tannr (RIP) no disrespect but he was the top of the mountain for awhile and he crumbled away after his losses. Something tells me things would have been different if he beat Grove.
All I am saying is let Chuck get back in there and end with a win so he can retire happily. They should give him Mark Coleman or Houston Alexander.
by skelow on May 8, 2009 7:45 PM EDT reply actions
Everyone wants to leave with their head up, but whose to say Chuck would win those fights guaranteed?? Nothing. This is MMA. One more fight is NOT a guaranteed win.
by UFC Champ on May 8, 2009 10:49 PM EDT up reply actions
Dana might have a point but he might not want to bad mouth Hack to this degree..Let’s don’t forget Hack used to own Chuck in the first meetings they had, and would defintely put on a beating to Dana before his suits jumped in to save him…He’s absolutely crazy to talk this kind of shit…I agree with all of Dana’s quotes but the “house” comment…c’mon guy..Would love to see Hack throttle him at the next fight and maybe Dana’s lap dogs can film it and put it on his blog.
by MMAwatcher13 on May 9, 2009 1:28 AM EDT reply actions
I think the message Dana is saying is correct, I just dont agree on how he is delivering it.
Chuck is at a point where damage is being done everytime he gets into the Octagon, his brain is taking a beating everytime he is getting KO’d. Dana IS protecting Chuck, hang ‘em up before you really get hurt Chuck, you have nothing to prove: You are the most famous fighter in MMA, your a millionaire and were the Champ long enough!
Don’t go out like Shamrock, a shell of your former self.

Why the hell does everything with Dana have to be f-ing money !?!? It’s really starting to get me mad. The thing with RRJ, hey Dana you douche, maybe RRJ just wants to make Silva look like a fool, you tool. Now this crap without Hackelman having his house paid off? The guy owns like 3 gyms, get over yourself Dana. You just don’t want Chucky going anywhere so you will make him keep that one fight on his contract. MMMMMMMM everybody think for a second, isn’t Dana doing this to another fighter, OH YEAH Roger Huerta.
by ItsJustMe on May 9, 2009 2:20 AM EDT reply actions
I like White and usually like what he says but this is bogus.
