Kerry Vera pro MMA debut set for Bellator VII on May 15

Move over Mr. and Mrs. "Cyborg" Santos ... there's now a new husband and wife duo in the world of professional mixed martial arts by the names of Brandon and Kerry Vera.
Of course we all know about Brandon -- the UFC heavyweight turned light heavyweight Muay Thai specialist who is among the more dynamic strikers in the sport today. But, we'll soon get our first look at his better half, Kerry, next Friday night as she makes her professional MMA debut in a 135-pound featured bout against undefeated Leslie Smith (4-0) on the Bellator Fighting Championships VII card.
Kerry has been training mixed martial arts for more than six years now. And like her husband, she has a strong background in kickboxing and Muay Thai. In fact, she has fought professionally as a kick boxer before, compiling a record of (2-1) along the way.
"The Truth" will be in attendance on fight night serving as her corner man.
Back in March, in only her fourth professional fight, Smith captured the Kickdown MMA female bantamweight title with a third round technical knockout victory over Louise Johnson. She has a solid ground game and some devastating ground and pound.
To put it mildly, this will not be an easy debut fight for Kerry Vera.
Bellator VII will take place on Friday, May 15 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois. The event will air via tape delay 24 hours later on the Spanish version of "The World Wide Leader in Sports," ESPN Deportes.
Also featured on the card will be the two semifinal match ups from the promotion's welterweight tournament, as former UFC champion Dave Menne will battle Omar De La Cruz on one side of the bracket, while Jorge Ortiz and Lyman Good battle it out in the other final four bout.

I’d like to see this fight, looks like real tough one for Kerry. I thought she was only kickboxing and muay thai and I didn’t know she trained in MMA too. Six years is a long time to be training, I’m interested to see how she holds up.

DSmith-
Better to catch this online or on ESPN Deportes. The Aragon is in a sketchy neighborhood.

It takes an act of God to get out for a live event these days and I have every kind of ESPN on earth except for Deportes. I’ll try to find it online for sure.

I’m all for equal rights and not a chauvinist by any stretch, but Kerry Vera should not be allowed to get hit in the face, too pretty.

Just a thought, how about Brandon Vera vs Chuck Liddell. Another win or go home fight for either one.

Hopefully she fights better than Brandon or it will be a short career.

Another good looking girl who wants to get their face smashed up. Females don’t belong in MMA.

Kerry Vera is a bad woman. Solid striking, up there with Carana and Cyborg, and she trains BJJ with Lloyd and Brandon. She’s gonna be a force for sure. And stop with the fighter bashing, j/a’s.
