Agree apart from Hendo, think Bisping will out work him for a decision.
Also i’m going for Alves too but definatly won’t be banking on it!!

I already bet money on Alves and Bisping…and soon I will be betting money on brock as well!

I cant wait for this event to get over with, that way Mir can go back to being irrelevant! He will lose to Brock, then get abused by someone like Gonzaga or Herring, and then we will never hear from him again.
I mean seriously? UFC champ? what the difference between Mir and Jeff Monson? NOt that much…. yet I dont see anyone saying that Monson is good enough to be heavyweight champion of the UFC.
By this time NEXT year, I promise you guys that Mir will be NOTHING! He probably wont even be fighting this time next year!

john you can get these posters at the UFC site as well. but for some reason they remove and re add older posters so you might have to do some searching for the ones you want.

Slugger I think you will go 3 for 3 on losses.
Brock- Round 1 via TKO
GSP- Round 2 via armbar
Fitch- Round 3 via GnP
Bisping- UD

just imagine what Brock would have done to Nog that night Mir fought him… He would have knocked his head off!! just like he will this time against Mir, Mir’s takedowns s*ck and this fight is going to be a standup Brock ownation in the salvation of the creation!

thanks for the heads up guys on the posters. I would like to start callecting some of the better ones. I plan on purchasing my 1st house within the next 2 years, and i plan on building myself a nice sports-bar, Tv room in the basement, and I would love to decorate it with framed uFC posters.
JJ: Let me respond to your last posts about the GSP/alves debate.
No need to cover your bases when you pick the underdog against one of the best fighters on the planet. Believe me when I tell you that I am a HUGE GSP fan. YOu say, I rooted against GSP the last 3 fights. nOt true. I will root against GSP when he fights Alves, because I am the biggest Alves fan on earth, I like his chances at an upset, and the odds on betting alves are juicy for me to risk.
nO one should be criticized for picking BJ over GSP. THey are 2 of the most popular fighters in the sport…you had to pick on over the other. YES, I was completely wrong! Penn got Destroyed, but I have NEVER once made that hater-ish claim that GSP only won because of the grease.
Prior to that fight he faced Fitch. I bet money on gSP, and rooted for GSP the entire time. THe only thing I said about that fight was that Fitch was a legit bad ass, that was going to cause GSP some problems. I was wrong again, because he walked through Fitch, but I wasnt rooting against GSP.
Prior to that fight he faced Serra, who I am a HUGE fan of. I picked GSP, unlike my boy Kevin. I bet on gSP, and rooted for him every step of the way.
I always rooted for GSP{ everytime he fought Hughes.
I rooted for GSP when he fought Koschek.
what more do you want? sorry I dont pick him in every single one of his fights, but that doesnt make me any less of a GSP fan. I always look forward to a GSP fight, and 90% of the time I pick/root for GSP. Just so happens that lately he has been facing guys that I am big fans of as well.
Calling me a GSP hater is far from the truth.
My only Knock on GSP, is that I think he is an amazing striker top 3 in the division in that department for sure. I just dont like the fact that I dont get to see him strike anymore. He has become primarily a ground n pound fighter. His G n P is far from boring, but I never really enjoyed G n P much, besides when Fedor does it.
My favorite thing about GSP is probably his under rated jits. HIs transition when he went from Inverted triangle-Kimura-arm bar was some seriously HIgh level jits. I adore beautiful high level jits…my only knock on GSP is that is jits is so damn good that I owuld like to see more of it.
Believe me when I say, I am a big fan of GSP. He is easily one of the top 5 fighters on earth and a class act. only a hater could not like GSP….and I am far from that!

Its official! Anderson Silva has dropped his contract with the UFC!!! He will now be competing exclusively for… Dancing with the Stars! After realizing his true passion, and statements such as “the fans don’t understand my style of fighting” Anderson has stepped up the competition and we could see him twirling away as soon as june! I’m excited!!

Rob: great post. I am a diehard nOg fan for life, but I think Nog would have lost to pretty much anyone that he fought in the shape he was in when he fought Mir. Thank god he didnt face Brock that night or Nog might have DIED!
I dont think the Brock/Mir fight will ever hit the ground until Brock KO’s him that is! Mir takedowns suck…and I dont even think he will be able to pull guard against Brock. If he tries that against Brock, I think he will get slammed on his head. Mir will be forced to fight brock standing, and Mir is not tough enough, technical enough, or powerful enough to survive a stand up fight against Brock.
Lets not forget what a huge reach advantage Brock and his monkey arms will have going into this fight.
I dont like to bash peoples opinions….Everyone has the right to pick or root for anyone they like…but I think anyone who actually bets money on mir, is a DAMN FOOL! REAL TALK!

Apparently SPIKE wants Rampage and the winner of Evans/Machida to be the next coaches on TUF. Obiously SPIKE will be pulling for Rashad then, more drama=more ratings. I just hate when they put the belt, thats already hard enough to get, on hold for a tv show. IMO the 205 belt should be defended more times than most belts due to the depth of talent in the division. On the other hand I guess they need more time to find the next most deserving contender.
by Tom on May 7, 2009 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions
Tom: that is horrible news, they already f’ed Rampage up with once with that foolish show… just end the show, call it quit!.. just hope they don’t through with something silly like that..
by RoB on May 7, 2009 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions
Imo Rampage should never do the show again; he wrecked himself last time; right now he’s focused, in great shape and looked good his last 2 fights; they should keep him away from TUF.
by O damn he got caught on May 7, 2009 11:16 AM EDT up reply actions
agreed! coaches like Bisping and Hendo are good enough for the show. No need to hold up titles for that show. Having a good fighter as a coach or a champion as a coach doesnt make any difference. Title fights dont need months of TUF hype to build up!
If they are going to continue with the silly show, the least they can do is keep our champions off that stupid show!
especially the LHW champion. THat division cant be held up. too many great title challengers for whoever has the belt to face!
by john on May 7, 2009 11:20 AM EDT up reply actions
no, exactly.. Rampage has no upside whatsoever being on that show again, he’s been there, done that. now let him be.. just watched his fight against Jardine the other night, 30-27 clearly, Jardine looked scared and backpeddaled all the time..

John,
you can get some at the UFC store. Here’s the link.
http://ufcstore.seenon.com/index.php?v=ufc_ufc_event-gear_posters
However, most sites that sell posters have some but not all, so you have to look around a bit. Of course there are some on ebay with autographs, but those run $150-$200. Although, with all the $$ your’e putting down on these fights, I’m sure you could spring for em.
by Jrandolph on May 7, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions
Hey John…People say Mir can be champ due to the fact that he already submitted Brock, knocked out Nog and submited Tim when when he was still good. Comparing Monson to Mir is a little much. Big Tim toyed with Monson, Brock would kill him Monson and Nog would choke him..end of story
That being said tough fight to call too early for me to choose
by Robert(1) on May 7, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions
Agreed Rob, I don’t even know which judge said Jardine lost that fight in the last 10 seconds, or how Jardine even believes that garbage. He got beat down throughout the whole fight; every round, period. And thats against a Rampage that was over trained; with his new dedication and with the shape he’s in he’s gonna be unstoppable peaking at the right time.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see GSP coaching opposite A. Silva WHEN George gets past Alves. I can see the build up now..
Dana: “This season was the craziest we’ve ever done; it got intense, these two just plain don’t like eachother; Anderson sneezed and George didn’t say god bless you. Silva’s F*in pissed.”
by O damn he got caught on May 7, 2009 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions
LOL o damn. It’s bad enough to hold up one title. Holding up two for that retarded show would be a travesty. Plus, they need at least one of the coaches to be American, don’t they? This IS Spike TV we’re talking about.

one of the most exciting lightweights in the world, that NEVER gets mentioned on this site: Jean Silva will return to the fight game after a year long hiatus from the fight game to deal with injuries.
Silva is in no means a top lightweight, but the former Chute bOx fighter is very exciting. He is a bad ass that mixes in his capoiera style into his striking. He is living in london now, were he was pretty damn exciting in cage Rage, after he left Pride.
He will now return to fighting and has 4 fights scheduled in 3 months:
The first fight will be on May 9, in the Ultimate Challenge, against the English J. A. Ween. The second will be against Dave Elliot in the British FC tournament, on May 30. In FX3, June 13, I’ll face Sami Bering and, on July 25, I’ll face Flávio Álvaro at Shine, in Miami.
Busy summer for the Brazilian. If there are any british fans on this site that live in the area of were he is fighting, i would suggest going to see him live, if you havent already!

John: Ive never seen someone hate a person they have never met, and in all accuality dont even really know anything about, more than you hate Frank Mir. Its okay to not care for a fighter, but I think you are way over the top with your opinions. Anyone who frequents this website knows you arent a Mir fan, so why do you have to constantly bash on him??? There are several other fighters you do that with as well. I have always said I respect your mma knowledge and your opinion, but just cause the Frank Mir is a confident guy doesnt mean you have to make him out to be some scumbag who has no business in the octagon. Whats funny is Ive never heard you mention a reason that you dont like Mir other than the fact that you think he is cocky and you think he has no skills. Well John, all fighters are cocky, ALL of them, and if you want to believe it or not, when Frank Mir is on the dude has serious skills, and outside of the 2 years after his life threatening accident, he is always on. Im sure you will say he is a lazy fighter that relies to much on his skillset and doesnt try to become a better fighter. In the past I would agree with you, but I really believe he is a truly dedicated full time fighter now, and I think if you give it some time (you probably wont though) you will see Mir is a smart, articulate, well rounded fighter who like many is still getting better at his craft and is in fact a great ambassador for the sport. Now with that being said, Let me have it, cause im sure you will lol
by Dave on May 7, 2009 10:33 AM EDT reply actions
i bash mir because I dont think he has earned the right to consider himself a top fighter! Simple as that!
I dont think anyone in the sport deserves a title shot for beating Hardonk and brock, who at the time had 1 more fight on his resume, then all of us! Simple as that! i am really big on fighters EARNING the right to fight for the UFC title, and I dont like fighters that get shots without EARNING that RIGHT!
I honestly dont think Mir is good enough to have this spotlight on him! therefor, I bash the FOCK out of him everytime his name comes up.
THats also why I bash Forrest. I didnt think Forrest beating Sick dog, who is a c-level fighter in a snoozefest (coming off a KO loss to Jardine) and then beating shogun on 1 leg, deserved the RIGHT to fight for the title.
MMa is like football, in the fact that any given sunday you can win or lose, no matter how it looks on paper. If DESERVING fighters are given title shots….we wouldnt be left with undeserving champions when upsets occur. THats why I dont like Mir!
What part of this post do you not agree with?
by john on May 7, 2009 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions
Once Mir loses to Brock, which I am positive will happen…Mir will be forced to either disappear or fight his way back up the ladder. If he shows me that he can work his way through the ranks, and truly EARN the right to fight for the title, I will RESPECT him and NEVER bash him again, but I honestly dont believe that it will happen.
If you want me to be honest, I think for the 1st time Mir is actually working hard and dedicating himself, but should I really praise him for that? He is involved in title fights….Only a damn fool would not work hard when he is in the position that Mir is in.
I dont like him because I dont think he deserves to fight for the title and be called a champion. If he works his way back up the ranks after a loss. I will be very impressed and start praising him…But if you want me to be honest, I dont think he will!
Im going to list some top Heavyweights:
Fedor
Brock
Nog
Gonzaga
Herring
Werdum
Carwin
Kongo
Couture
Barnett
Forget what happened in past match ups. HOw many of these fighters would you pick Mir to beat in the future? I would say 3, and thats me being generous. Personally I think the UFC Heavyweight champion should have the ability to beat more then 3 guys on that list.I think he would get outclassed by guys like GOnzaga or Werdum who would NEVER hold a UFC title.
As a matter of fact, I am not even convinced that he can beat young up and comers like Cain or Dos Santos, so how could I be happy about him fighting for the title?
by john on May 7, 2009 11:11 AM EDT up reply actions
I don’t even know about 3, I wouldn’t pick Mir in any of those fights; maybe Herring or Kongo if he could even get the fight to the ground. I don’t think his striking is good enough to hang with Couture, Randy would lump him up and god knows Mir isn’t going to take that fight to the ground. We’ll find out against Brock but with Lesnar and Carwin, I see it being a beat down; He could probably take Gonzaga if he made it out of the 1st rd and wore him down a bit; thats assuming Mir’s cardio is as good as he claims.
I pick Nog in a rematch, Mir’s gameplan was to stay off the ground, that right there says he’s afraid of Nog’s jits. A 100% healthy Nog would tool him standing up. He’d have no place to go. I don’t think I even have to mention Fedor or Barnett, those would be complete ownage.
by O damn he got caught on May 7, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions
you guys are giving mir enough credit, besides fedor and maybe barneett I think mir can beat everyone of those heavyweights as long as he’s in shape. this whole thing about nogeruia having staph is just an excuses.
by bobby o'shea on May 7, 2009 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions
No way, I’ve NEVER seen Nog look that bad, and that out of shape; a fighter might be able to make another fighter look bad, but they can’t make them look like their flabby and over weight. Mir beat a gimped Nog, just like Forrest beat a gimped Shogun and a gimped Page.
by O damn he got caught on May 7, 2009 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions
i totally agree with your point o damn! and now that mir did looked great in the eyes of the casual fan by beating a nog zombie..i dont have a choice but to pray that he wins against brock the second time around..if you are saying that mir is not due to the spotlight sorrounding him what more can you say about brock? and how about you john? getting into the wwe hype? and by the way you listed brock waaaayyyy to high..you always state on what mir will become after being beating by brock at 100 but can you imagine brock after being fooled by mir again? i seriously don’t think brock can win a healthy nog, carwin or velasquez..he might end up fighting congo and then lashley!
war pride!
by gaara on May 8, 2009 3:08 AM EDT up reply actions
By your own argument John that means Brock wasn’t deserving of a title shot when he fought Randy, but I see where you’re coming from. Totally agree with you about Forrest!
by attakdog on May 7, 2009 11:16 AM EDT up reply actions
I dont disagree with your opinion John, I disagree with the bitter hatred you seem to have for him as a person, and the fact that you feel its your duty to rip on him whenever you see his name anywhere. Not to mention I think Frank Mir has been around for a long time and he is very marketable and thats why he gets title shots. The reason he got Nog was because at the time, no one else even remotely deserved a shot, and the fact is that he beat nog (and I dont care about the injuries and staph infection) so he deserves his title shot at the man he beat. Whether he beats him again is yet to be seen, but the fact is he wont be going anywhere anytime soon, whether you like the guy or not.
by Dave on May 7, 2009 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions
I flip flop on Frank a lot, there’s interviews and appearances where he’s an intelligent, humble likeable guy, but then he flips a 180 and just goes into blatant arrogance mode. This guy is like Jekyl & Hyde to me.

Lesnar – TKO RD3
GSP – TKO RD4
Hendo – SD
I want Murr to win, although this is just how it has to be. I see Hendo squeaking one past the judges, and GSP will control the whole fight (taking minor damage), and keeping wind longer to put him away late. This is how it’s gonna go down.
by GodDamnMike on May 7, 2009 10:48 AM EDT reply actions
Good analysis. I also see GSP controlling. Alves is very good, but he’s not GSP-level.
I could see Bisping fighting a smart fight and getting a decision, but I’m rooting for Hendo.
And Brock WILL get his revenge. G’night, Murrrr.
by pancakehead on May 7, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions
I think Brock has a great chance at beating Mir. If he stays calm I think he’ll TKO Frank. I think Alves has a better chance against GSP than any other WW but I am sure GSP will win. I also think Hendo SHOULD beat Bisping but Dan has let me down in every fight in the UFC so far except for the Rampage fight. This one could go either way but I gotta go with Mike.
I think AS is losing some cred lately by being a showboat. I think Diego Sanchez will be the LW champ someday. I think Fedor is a pussy for not signing with the UFC. I think BJ is overrated.
Just a few thoughts I’ve had on my mind for a while.
by Z on May 7, 2009 10:56 AM EDT reply actions
What I find really interesting is that everyone says Lesnar lost the last fight due to over-excitement. Seems to me he was kicking butt when he was hyper, and got caught when he slowed down and let Mir play a little chess.
Regardless, I think his improvement will be HUGE, and this will be a different fight. I’d love to see him dominate the fight on his feet and from the clinch. But something tells me they’ll be on the ground soon enuf.

Here’s roughly how I see the fights going. Brock will keep it standing quite a bit, clich and when he knocks mir down hammer the crap out of him for a ref stoppage and not make dumb mistakes like he make last time. Gsp will mix things up with alves fustrate him into making mistakes take him down g&p for 2 or 3 rounds and maybe in the 4th go for a sub similar to the hughes sub or the one he tried on koscheck. I see hendo swinning for the fences, bisping backpeddling most of the fight with the occational take down by hendo winning him points and hendo winning a close decision.

I think Fitch is closer then people give him credit for a title fight. If Alves wins I see a solid marketing rematch of Alves’s last loss. However I do agree that no one is screaming to see Fitch back with GSP anytime soon.
Does the WW division not seem as strong as it was two years ago…? I mean Karo, Kos, Hughes, and Serra all appear to be on the downside of thier careers also with Diego at 155. Maybe it’s just by compairson now that 205 and 185 are so solid?

I’m sure GSP likes being surrounded by all those dudes…G.S.P. is G.A.Y.
Don’t pretend you don’t agree. Have you ever seen that dude with a chick even once? I was at a pool party in Vegas and that guy had more sausage around than Shopsy’s.

He’s got a Chick on each arm at every UFC he attends, next time the camera pans over to GSP watch, there’s a woman in the seat on both sides…

Alves has on the physical tools to beat gsp we will see if his skills caught up yet. Takedown defense mostly and getting back on his feet where Imo he has the best chances of winning the fight. Frank mir does not have the physical tools to beat lesnar (does anybody?) I wanna see him win but if lesnar can avoid getting submited from the top he is probably gonna dominate. No clue on how the hendo bisping will play out we will see.War Alves Mir Hendo

BROCK – he is probably only training sub defense and wont get caught again like he did in the first fight. he is too quick and powerful for mir on the feet and mir doenst have the wrestling to bring him down in a position that brock will be in danger.
GSP – he is way more athletic than alves. jackson will give him the proper gameplan to get past alve’s most dangerous weapon against gsp, his leg kick.
BISPING – he can outpoint dan from the outside with crisp shots. a young bisping can keep an aging henderson off him in the clinch or get back up if he needs to.
well my take a couple months out anyway.

Bisping will go on to fight Anderson Silva — once Silva disposes of Griffin.
GSP will retain his title, and Frank Mir will use his footwork and striking to pick apart Lesnar, eventually TKOing him in the 3rd.
The bigger the guy, the harder they fall.
