Best submission ive ever seen, he put the guy 2 sleep
by JG on May 3, 2009 2:47 AM EDT up reply actions
the guy getting submitted made it worse by leaning forward, it probably would have been let got if he slammed him backwards
by sac165 on May 3, 2009 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions
absolutely, the guy would have hit his head/neck in the mat… Jorge needs to get his head in the game

Wow!!! I guess you can’t say you’ve seen everything in MMA. It’d be crazy if Bellator made it to Mexico before the UFC did.

OMG that was incredible!!! LOL..guy prolly didnt know wtf to do and thats why he ended up going out..he’s prolly thinking.. WTF IS THIS DUDE DOING..and then nothing
by Chris on May 3, 2009 2:53 AM EDT reply actions
LOL…thats what i was thinking. the dude looked confused as to what to do next. jorge was probably thinking imada was just hanging on for dear life and he was like ‘ok, should i fall on my back to slam his head into the canvas or should i roll forward to dump him from over my head or should i—-ZZZZZZZZZZ!’ LOL. excellent sub!

by andrewb on May 3, 2009 4:42 AM EDT reply actions
anyone care to explain a defense against this???
by talkman on May 3, 2009 5:10 AM EDT reply actions
Not the most common hold, so i dont think he was expecting to be choked out, but best defense would be to tap before going out lol.
by pwilson on May 3, 2009 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions
Best defense would’ve have been for masvidal to not stand up and not let go of the single.

That move was totaly unplanned, what kind of mental awareness must that kid have to realise he was in a position to pull of that move.
I can honestly say Im thouroghly impressed.

Nice sub granted, but what idiot lets themselves get caught like that? There’s a reason it’s never been seen before, anyone with an ounce of skill would counter it.

that was sick. i love amazing subs. so much better than a knock out!
by mrajwt on May 3, 2009 8:00 AM EDT reply actions
My Gawd! This is the type of $hit MMA cats need to come up with now. Simply amazing!
by neeko on May 3, 2009 8:04 AM EDT reply actions
hell yeah man, even before the sub that kid has a hell of a chin jorge threw that huge knee and the kick was still standing. but that sub definately the best ive ever seen, chonan would have to be second
by Jared on May 3, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions
Chonan’s was better. So was Hazellet over Burkman.
by Joe Smith on May 3, 2009 10:24 AM EDT up reply actions
Ground game had nothing to do with that submission… at all.

If you have not seen the Silva/Chonan here is a link with Josh Barnett talking through the video. The flying scissor heel hook incredible, but Silva knew immediately he had made a mistake. This guy didn’t have a clue what he was in, and wakes up going what happened?? For that, I give this one the nod.

by gflo on May 3, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I loved the silva cs. Chonan fight. When we talk about that fight all that anyone mentions is the finish….but no one ever talks about how entertaining of a stand up war that fight was. Had the fight not ended with that amazing finish, its still owuld have been an amazing fight.
As for what is the greatest submission. Im sorry but for me, pulling off an iNVERTED triangle in tRAINING is so much harder then pulling off a heel hook. The reason we all love the chonan fight was because of the scissor takedown….that is what is impressive…but that was a takedown.
When comparing actual submissions an Inverted triangle or an Aoki-plata (gogo from the mount" are much harder to pull of then a heel hook!

Oh wait that’s crazy.
I once got pissed that a brown belt was trying to choke me with one arm under my chin ( i had wrist control on the other) while standing.
If he’d pulled a standing inverted triangle I would have just bowed down.
That was incredible.
Most creative sub I’ve seen.
by scissorfight on May 3, 2009 1:38 PM EDT reply actions
I watched a different version on you tube that’s a little longer and you the ref goes
“that’s it, it’s over… oh sh#t.”
He was not ready for that.
by scissorfight on May 3, 2009 1:52 PM EDT reply actions
i think several people already took the words outta my mouth
holy shit…..
IMO that is a way better sub than the flying heel hook, that was just insane.
by JakeAnd on May 3, 2009 2:19 PM EDT reply actions
darn and its already taken down, i’m a bit late it seems.
by Kitsunex on May 3, 2009 5:46 PM EDT reply actions
