Oh,that’s cute a real running mini punching bag.The Worst in all this.I read that he want to do it again, even try to go in a sanctioned state. Now you see how it is bad to encourage, people doing stupid stuff!

This story pisses me off more by the day! eSPN barely shows highlights of mma mega-fights, but they show clips of this freakshow? This just SUCKS!!!! and I would go on a long drawn out Rant about the millions of reason why this situation pisses me off….but I am already sick of talking about it!

All I know is that if I were accepting a fight against a guy with no arms or legs, my friends would never let me hear the end of it.

This whole situation is just CRAP!!!! How is this even considered an accomplishment for the handicapped kid…Its not like he really fought an mma fight! Everyone knows his opponent took it easy on him, so whats there to Respect?

I am not Kevin, I usually am positive, compassionate and politically correct but this is just CRAP!!!! Sorry if I offended anyone, but this is a joke, thats more of a freakshow then anything thats ever happened in Japan!

Why does it bother you what ESPN talks about?

I find it kind of funny how a disabled guy is looking for acceptance by fighting, then gets it from ESPN…you on the other hand are looking for acceptance from ESPN for being a fan….bet get shit. That must suck.

This should never happen again!

I read somewhere though that they were friends, and Fry wanted to help him by showing the world anything is impossible, as he too has a brothers who has problems, so hoped he would see this happening to never give up on dreams.

Again in now way, shape or fourm am i supporting this fight, somethings in life sadly just aren’t meant. At the same time u gotta respect Maynards heart for wanting to get in there.

by pwilson on Apr 27, 2009 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions

You gotta have a little respect for Fry. If he really kicked his ass I think it could have been alot worse for the sport. I think the way he played it was the right thing to do. One would think Maynard has learned he should do something else.

by Nokimono on Apr 27, 2009 8:19 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m pissed the guy took it easy on him. I would have mounted him and taken him nubs in my hands, smacking him in the face with them while saying " Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself

by JRE on Apr 27, 2009 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed….The kid has loads of heart but c’mon…The other guy should have just ran across the cage and punted him like a football theorhetically

Im sorry, i just cant help but laugh a little bit.

by JRV on Apr 27, 2009 7:29 AM EDT reply actions

he should get a job with scare tactics put a little makeup on him have him shoot across the room i would be jumping on a table or tossing something at him

“incredible individual effort”?

I guess Fry could have completely destroyed him whenever he wanted to

by ja434650 on Apr 27, 2009 8:08 AM EDT reply actions

That was disturbing.

by lolop4345 on Apr 27, 2009 8:26 AM EDT reply actions

Fry should have let him take him down. How would Maynard ever stop a triangle

by fnuts on Apr 27, 2009 8:30 AM EDT reply actions

wow, none of you would ever have the balls to do something like him with that kind of disability. Maynard is the fucking man. Kudos bro.

by FingerMeElmo87 on Apr 27, 2009 8:37 AM EDT reply actions

wow trash a guy for trying something he always dreamed of doing.great bunch of people you find on forums ..yep… funny how a guy with no arms and no legs can have bigger balls then half of you idiots.least when that dude dies hel be able to say he went for his dream unlike most people who sit on their collective asses and troll the internet for ‘LOLZ’ and accomplish nothing.dudes more of a man then a bunch of key board warriors that hide behind their pc screens and giggle.

What I find funny is how your statement uses numerous cliches.

by El Mexicutioner, formerly The Mexicutioner on Apr 27, 2009 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions

What I find even funnier is that someone wants to fight MMA, yet ALL the rules were changed to accomidate him. You still want to be called an MMA fighter after that? To me that means you don’t make the cut, plain and simple.

I’m not taking away from Maynard and his abilities, but its like changing the rules of a game to allow females to play in the same league as males.

This PC MMA

by El Mexicutioner, formerly The Mexicutioner on Apr 27, 2009 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions

How does changing the rules in MMA for Maynard, or changing a male league to suit a female, possibly affect you in any way? You are “all UFC, all the time” anyway…it’s not like Dana is going to have guys with no limbs fighting at UFC 100…so why do you even care?

UFC Champ-

Truth.

by OJR on Apr 27, 2009 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Noone is trashing him. But lets face facts, fights like this arent going to help the sport grow, and honestly how in the hell can he defend himself. I have nothing but respect for this guy, for never taking no for an answer, but come on what can he do to defend himself? Answer that question

by lokie on Apr 27, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

I was one of the people opposed to this fight from the get go. Not because of Maynard’s dream to fight in MMA (I give him major props for doing it), but I totally threw Frye under the bus for taking the fight. But after reading an interview with Frye and hearing about how he has a brother with a disability…He stated that he thought nobody else would take the fight and he wanted to help Maynard achieve this goal of his, which in turn would be a benefit to the disabled…and his little brother. I have since changed my viewpoint on this fight………..

Props to both of them.

I didn’t have the heart to even watch it…

by Robert(1) on Apr 27, 2009 10:41 AM EDT reply actions

im sorry, but NO! This does not need to happen again ever. Look i feel for the guy, he is an inspirational story, but c’mon now. This is one of thsoe thigns where, you do have to realize your limits. If he really loves the sport, he will give this up, because all this is going to do is give the sport a black eye if someone really goes in there and knocks him out cold. I dont want to sound like a prick, but i mean this is to much. I know you have to realie your dreams no matter what, but i think most people are i nagreement that this is just not good.

by Adam on Apr 27, 2009 10:41 AM EDT reply actions

Why does everyone coin the phrase “black eye for the sport” all of the time? Who really gives a shit if there is a “black eye for the sport”? I think we are safely passed that phase now….no?

I give Maynard props, and say that he reached a goal of fighting in MMA, but I think that should be that and he shouldn’t do it again….leave well enough alone.

But, enough with the “black eye” shit already.

by introvert on Apr 27, 2009 11:17 AM EDT up reply actions

This guy has done more with no arms and no legs than most of us will ever do and I respect him for that. That being said, I believe that with this dream accomplished he should really not fight in this sport anymore. I’m glad to see that noone has bashed his opponent, maybe the people booing in the crowd, but had this guy just kicked the sh!t out of Maynard, people would be saying he was an a$$. And keep in mind the next guy might not be so nice.

100 buys for the PPV says it all….

by Paul on Apr 27, 2009 3:43 PM EDT reply actions

I feel for the guy. I thank God that I have my arms and legs. I admire his courage, and his drive to do something with his life. I suspect that many of us would be angry at the world for our condition if we were faced with what he is, and would lack the will to do much of anything, if faced with such a horrific handicap.

But c’mon. That was horrible. If he ever fought a real fighter, he might not survive the first round. And I don’t mean lose the fight, I mean he could be killed. I can’t imagine that any state with a governing body would ever sanction him to fight.

cut this kid some slack. but I must admit, I having a real hard time not making some wiseass remark.
