UWC 'Capital Punishment' quick results: Easton retains, War Machine submits Woods

Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC) returned to the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia on Saturday, April 25 for its sixth installment titled 'Capital Punishment' that was headlined by a Bantamweight title fight between Mike Easton and Josh Ferguson.

In a night of finishes, Ferguson came out aggressively and kept Easton on the defensive with a mixture of takedown attempts and strikes (even a flying knee), however it wouldn't be enough as the 135-pound champ kept his composure and retained the gold with a guillotine choke late in the first.

Easton remains perfect under the UWC banner with his fourth straight win since his successful debut back at UWC 'Invasion' in April 2008.

Also on the card, former UFC fighter War Machine (the headcase formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver) secured his third straight win with an impressive performance against Rashad Woods in a catchweight bout of 175 lbs.

Woods came to fight, rocking War Machine on a couple of occasions with some vicious Thai knees and a nice slam in the second round. But the former TUF contestant showed his toughness and tenacity by keeping the pressure on and capitalizing on the opportunity to sink in a rear naked choke.

Star-divide

Since losing to Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 84 "Ill Will" and being ousted from the UFC for having diarrhea of the mouth, War Machine has continued to improve as a fighter and now boasts three straight stoppages within three separate promotions.

While a return to the UFC is unlikely, expect to see more of War Machine on the local circuit as long as he continues to make headlines and win fights.

Here are the complete results for UWC 6 'Capital Punishment," which also featured a special appearance by former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz:

185 lbs.: Kris McCray (3-0) defeated Ronnie West (1-1) via submission (rear naked choke) 0:39-R1
205 lbs.: Phil Davis (3-0) defeated Terry Cohens (4-3) via TKO (strikes) 4:29-R1
155 lbs.: Frank Camacho (4-2) defeated James Jones (7-8) via KO (punch) 1:56-R2
145 lbs.: Mikey Lovato (4-1) defeated Jose Villirisco (0-2) via unanimous decision
185 lbs.: Damian Dantibo (3-0) defeated Ronald Stallings (5-4) via TKO (strikes) 0:13-R1
185 lbs.: Joey Kirwan (1-1) defeated Marcus Foran (5-3) via submission (guillotine choke) 2:18-R1
175 lbs.: War Machine (8-2) defeated Rashad Woods (4-2) via submission (rear naked choke) 4:16-R2
135 lbs.: Mike Easton (7-1) defeated Josh Ferguson (6-2) via submission (guillotine choke) 4:06-R1

I wish war machine was still in the UFC. As much as an idiot that he is when he opens his mouth, the kid BRINGS it in the cage…and to me, thats what matters most!

As much as i hate him, Jesse Taylor and Noah thomas, they have all been impressive as of late in the regional scenes.

Also John – never got to ask your thoughts on K1 Max. This year was epic. Man was it just me or did Buakaw look a little slow. Like the way the judges tried to rob him- no f%^king way the third round was a draw. I wanna see him fight Kraus after he got robbed last time. Thoroughly enjoyed watching tranny anime freak nagashima get KO’d. Also the robbery on the Korean fighters was just outrageous. Anyways who you got in the finals? I am thinkin Buakaw, Kyshenko and dark horse petrosyan.

I always go with Buakow. He is one of my favorites on earth but you might be right, he did look a little slow. What happened to the korean fighters was atrocious! I havent seen enough of petrosyan
