Melvin Manhoeff is contractually obligated to compete at DREAM 9. He is facing that always elusive TBA guy. Also, Melvin is finally taking his ground game serious and training with the Brazilian Top team (or whatever is left of them), and I hear that he is becoming difficult to tap.

i live in the UK so i just download it before its shown over here off rapidshare, if u go on a site called warez-bb.org they have links for almost anything and it’s free to register with them, i’ve got most of the early ufc’s from there like 1 to 25. only €6.99 per month for a rapidshare account which should be around $10, u can download any ufc event a few hours after it’s been shown live in good quality and even HD, the countdown shows are normally available early aswell

I’ve been playing this game for the past couple days and the guys at THQ absolutelty hit a home run! The game is sooo complex and tight!!!
Everything about the game is awesome. The unreal graphics, the sick controls, the ability to use every aspect of MMA in a REALISTIC fashion, the commentating, the tutorials, etc., etc., etc.
This game will EASILY go down as the best fighting game ever made. Yes, it will be better than fight night 4. As Dana said in a interview a while back, there are so many different ways to hurt your opponent, whereas boxing is just punching and blocking.

just downloaded the demo a few hours ago and have been on it solidly! i think it looks and feels amazing to play, very realistic. i found the submissions a little difficult to pull off but as a whole it looks like it will be an excellent game. i thought the pre-fight intros were superb and very realistic, as is the commentating. i will definately be pre-ordering a copy asap!

just got done playing it.. gotta say nice game it fulfilled my expectations i still need to practice my ground game a bit but the game is awesome. chuck has a vicious overhand right. KOed me a few times with it.

Yeah mostly the people who reserved got a trial code and all you had to do is redeem it on xbox…I reserved mine on saturday and played it on monday…I have to say the game is pretty awesome…and that is just the demo…demos sometimes dont have the whole package who knows it might be better on the real version!!!

For easy subs.. work the shit out of Chuck on the ground with knees and wait until his stamina is all yellow. Otherwise he will counter everything you do.

You can do the flying armbar on chuck. Clinch, punch to get into a collar tie position, then push RS.

I find the third difficulty a good challenge. I still win a lot, but I have to play pretty realistically to do it: Keep my hands up all the time, work the leg kicks, wear him down, use a variety of tactics.

heh…knocked out chucky with a running jumping knee from good ol shogun in 3 secs
ahem now for the real review.
PROS: 1. u can really knock someone out with one punch or kick
2. the grappling is complex. (which is good!)
3. CREATE A CHARACTER. YAY!
CONS: (bit nitpicky for the first go around, but I’m a tekken and street fighter fan)
1. it feels stiff (the movement of characters that is)
2. there better be an entrance montage (THQ made wrestling games, so they know entrances are every bit as important. It adds excitement. it makes u feel like ur a part of it.
3. every time you win, there’s no scratches on your character. there’d better be. it wouldn’t make sense winning unscathed for the majority of the time.
4. Tapping out characters is really difficult.(KOs come easily, but making the computer tap out is darn near impossible. But I swear the submission game makes you want to play it more.
5. they need to spruce up its presentation. i know it’s a demo, but there better be clips, and a nicer interface.
RESULT: Will still buy it regardless. Wish it had Ken Shamrock though cuz the game allows you to keep hitting a knocked out opponent after being GNPed.

I agree with with those points. the depth of the ground game really does make this game so much more multi-dimensional, and makes the game so much more strategically interesting and challenging for long term enjoyment. I saw a post on another site that said the game was mediocre like the old UFC game from years back, which is an shining example of people that don’t understand strategy in MMA and the ground game are going to just kick and punch their way to boredom.

Great game but you really have to go through the tutorials first as there is so much.
I can get Chuck in a few submissions but the beer bellied mofo won’t tap and escapes.I did manage to rock him and he went down then i did that diving punch move and ko’ed him looked sweet :)

Great game so far the demo …After playing for about 2 hours i finally got Chuck to tap…key is beat his a$$ up abit the get it to the ground and go for a kimura. Looks like so far this game will be amazing ..
