and im also pretty confident in ‘butters’ st pierre over alves..
say word!

Not you too Stink! WTF is with everyone supporting the Matt Serra/Travis Lutter of the Heavyweight division (Mir)? It makes me CRINGE!!!! By 2010 Mir will be irrelevant AGAIN!!!!
Im also pretty confident in Alves Battering gSP’s face. when was the last time st Pierre has had to deal with being hit? Probably the 1st matt Serra fight. Anyone who think GSP will be able to go through Alves without taking damage is simply fooling themselves. Its been a pretty long time since GSP faced any kind of adversity inside of an Octagon. Is he still used to dealing with it? I look forward to finding out in July!

sorry player~ i have been rolling with mir from the gates~
i know it will be hard for him~ but i feel he can pull it off again.
im not sold on brock-ness yet..
butter pierre is definitely in for a war! alves is top notch!
but im thinking if thiago cant finish early? gsp will eat him up in later rounds..~ no doubt about it!
by stinky~fingers on Apr 23, 2009 9:41 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, I also think Alves needs to finish GSP in the 1st few rounds…If it goes into the championship rounds….GSP will win a decision! I won a ton of money on Alves since the Karo fight…now he is an underdog again…I gotta continue to ride him!
by john on Apr 23, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions
i’m with you john… i think alves could have this fight… i’ll definitely be betting on him … and if he wins i’ll get a sweet return
i’m also going to bet on mir… in fact i’ll bet on anyone who fights against lesnar since i plain and simply dont like him and when he losses i’ll be happy and get money for it
i’m betting on 3 underdogs actual and maybe more i havent decided yet but i’ll definitely be betting on these 3 underdogs:
bisping
alves
mir

John, even though you think Alves has a chance, I think deep down you can’t be confident that he will win. I don’t think Alves will be much more of a challenge than Fitch.
I only bet on underdogs when I think they’ve mislabeled the underdog or when they make someone an extreme underdog when the odds should be much closer. That’s why I put a little money on Bisping even though I think Dan will take it. I’ve seen Dan lose w/o something out-of-this-world having to happen. GSP, on the other hand, I haven’t seen him lose like that. GSP wins except for when the roulette wheel hits green.
And you could be right about Mir John, but I hope not.

Not me McArthur. I’m jumpin’ from BJ’s nuts to GSP’s in this fight, hehe!
Anyway, here are the winners:
-Lesnar via gorilla thrashing
-GSP via wrestlemania
-Jon Fitch via summerslam[though I’m goin’ with the dog Paulo Thiago]
-Hendo via veteran moves
-Belcher via superior octagon tenureship
-Bonnar via psycho crusher
-Bones via wing chun technique
-Kim via stunner[stone cold]
-Danzig via desperation
-Dollaway via overration
-I dont know what to make of the last fight[which is technically the first fight of the event]
^that’s a wrap folks!

I’m definitely not on the Mir bandwagon…I know he’s a solid fighter but I just can’t stand listening to the guy talk and he really ruined the last TUF with his ridiculous attitude. I think Brock is going to punch him square in the face and then it’s all downhill from there on out for Mir.
Alves is a big guy and a solid striker…but in all reality…whether you want to believe it or not…there is a big drop off in talent from GSP to the rest of the WW division. I know there are a lot of great fighters in the division but there isn’t anyone with the vast skill set that GSP has. I think Alves posses some problems but I think in the grand scheme of things…I don’t think they amount to enough to halt the champ.

OMFG,DUDES,THE RUMOR IS TRUE FEDOR/AOKI APRIL 29TH………The rumors are true: MMA’s undisputed #1 heavyweight and Japan’s top lightweight will square off in a special exhibition match at next Wednesday’s DEEP/M-1 Challenge event. DEEP President Shigeru Saeki and Shinya Aoki announced the fight today at a press conference in Tokyo; Fedor was not present, though his manager Vadim Finkelstein and Affliction VP Tom Atencio are said to be in Japan at the moment. The specifications and rules for the bout have not been finalized, but Saeki likened it to this week’s K-1 MAX exhibition between Masato and 17-year-old kickboxing phenom HIROYA. (For what it’s worth, HIROYA wore headgear and both parties wore shinguards.) Due to the weight difference between the two, this will presumably be a pure grappling or Sambo match. Aoki says he’s pleased to be able to set foot in the ring with “the symbol of MMA.”
Also announced for next Wednesday: Abe Ani Combat Club’s Yusuke Masuda (2-5-2) will take Riki Fukuda’s spot at 84kg on Team Japan, squaring off against England’s Matt “12 Gauge” Thorpe (10-7). Fukuda pulled out of the event in favor of facing Murilo “Ninja” Rua on 48 hours notice at DREAM.8, where he won by unanimous decision.
Don’t forget, the entire DEEP/M-1 Challenge show will be streaming over at Japan-MMA. The BE Night Crew will undoubtedly be up in full force for this one.

hey john, i think you know your stuff but weren’t you just as confident if not more w/ regards to bj fighting gsp, and we all know how that ended, i do think it will be a super hard fight for gsp, but he’s a gamer and i think he can come up with the W

yeah buddy, but I was also just as confident that Shogun was going to finish chuck, but I got crucified for that…I was confident Alves was going to Ko Karo when Karo was good…I was confident Kongo would Ko Cro cop when he was good….Not only was I confident, I bet money on every single one of those underdogs.

How can you call Mir the Serra/Lutter of the heavyweights. Go watch the Wes Sims fight or the Noguiera fight. You remind of the BJ guys walking through MGM before the fight yelling “rear naked choke, rear naked choke!” Your saying what you WANT to happen but not what WILL happen. Mir all the way!
by britches on Apr 23, 2009 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions
I know you didnt just bring up the name Wes Sims when justifying MIr??/ Hahahaha, how can I respond to that!~
by john on Apr 23, 2009 6:27 PM EDT up reply actions
john, the reason GSP hasn’t faced any kind of adversity is because he is light years ahead of any other WW and he has been destroying them. Alves will be no different, infact he will get destroyed, that’s right destroyed. Kos was able to tag Alves quite a few times and he ate several of his strikes (and we know it isn’t because he has a granite chin). GSP is WAAAAAY harder to hit than the reckless swinging Koscheck. GSP can and will take Alves down. Go rewatch the Kos-Alves fight and then take into consideration that Kos got tagged very early and was on queer street the whole fight and Alves didn’t finish him. It’s going to take a much better performance than that to take out the guy that just destroyed BJ Penn. He does have to take out GSP to win, because no one is going to out work GSP for a decision.
by Gord on Apr 24, 2009 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions
St Pierre hasn’t had to sustain damage because he’s dominated everyone in his path? Alves is a great fighter but you can’t fault St Pierre because he’s destroyed the competition.
As for Mir, I think having guys who actually respect the technical aspects of the sport and can articulate them is just good for MMA in general.

Are you kidding me, did you not see the St.Pierre vs Fitch fight ??? What r u talking about ??
by JDOGKURUPT on Jul 11, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions
owned jdogkurupt. thats what I like about gsp. theres no denying that he fights smart, not just with his hands and feet like I thought he would when I first saw his debut.
by nutty on Jul 12, 2009 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions
Well, well, well, don’t you look STUPID now that GSP POUNDED Alves’ ass for 5 rounds without sustaining any damage, easily might I add. Oh, and that is kind of how I saw it, except that I am quite impressed with Alves that he managed to take GSP the distance, because I have to admit that I thought GSP would finish Alves in the third or fouth round. Listen, you and everyone else should face the fact that Georges St. Pierre is one of, if not the best UFC and MMA best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and easily the best welterweight in the world as there are no more welterweights that can even really give him a substantial challenge right now. GSP is crazy.

Its early but right now I like:
Brock (throw some money on him as long as he isnt a super favorite)
Bisping (Already bet $100 on him)
Alves (Definitely betting $ on him)
Akiyama (I dont bet on fighters Octagon debut’s anymore!)
Fitch (I will bet $ on him as long as the odds arent out of control)
Its a shame that we probably wont get a chance to see fight of the night. tHose HOnors are going to Danzig vs. Miller….I have no idea who will win that one!
cB dollaway should be an easy bet!

To compare Mir to serra isn’t necessarily an insult John! Look at his quality wins vs. who’s beaten him. No shame in losing to GSP (after ko’ing him) and taking BJ to a decision). Your hatred of mir blinds you from his talent! I got Mir subbing Brock again!

what Talent Kev? He is an out of shape, above average ground fighter with a basic 3 hit striking combo in his arsenal. cardio blows, and Im not sure how good his jits is cause he wasnt willing to test it out in aDCC!!!! THat about sums it up! Sorry, but I prefer my champions to be well rounded and top shelf in at least 1 discipline. I cant say Mir is better on the ground then guys like Nog, Gonzaga, Werdum, Fedor, barnett….but Mir’s ground game is rally advanced!

How can you say out of shape John? This is classic you. Shogun has knee surgery and is recovering, Mir almost dies in a motorcycle accident, comes (when he was never supposed to fight again) and he’s out of shape. If you can’t even see your contradictions, then I don’t know what to say!

u r an idiot! Apples and Oranges once again! Shogun used to be a Cardio Machine pre injury. Mir’s cardio ALWAYS sucked! Open your EYES and see there is a big difference and you make NO SENSE!

Lesnar – TKO within 2min of R1
GSP – TKO (Strikes) R4
Bisping – SD
Fitch – UD
Sexyama – UD
Bonnar – UD
Jones – TKO R2
Stun Gun – UD
Danzig – UD
CB Dollaway – R1 stoppage
a lot of long fights it seems, too bad b/c we won’t get extras in the PPV

CB Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor
R1 – Lawlor enters to “Who Let The Dogs Out” with training partner/fellow ham Seth Petruzelli in tow via chain with dog bone in his mouth. Dollaway’s entrance is decidedly more subdued, to the strains of Eminem, “Till I Collapse.” They tap gloves, and it’s on. Dollaway with a jab, circling left he catches Tom with a right straight. Fires straight left again but misses. CB shoots for a takedown and gets caught in a straight Guillotine…it looks deep. Tom Lawlor signals to ref that CB is out, and when Lavigne pulls him off, he is indeed. :55 is the official time.

HE stopped when the ref told him too , thats his job too keep hitting till told not too… Plus its kinda instinct too follow a fighter you just dropped from a punch , prob was he didnt pass guard too land the punch , he did a 3 foot vertical jump ( which is hard too stop once you started ) and smashed his face with a follow up punch , its allowed =) ..

It’s easy to be classy after you’ve just been soundly thrashed. Mir talked all kinds of crap in the weeks and months leading up to the fights about how smart he is, how great his striking is, etc. None of it did him a damn bit of good.

you are right he’s just a big wrestler…. mir’s not that great, randy was losing in the light heavy weight, crazy horse has no ground game, no heavy weights that are good right now so i wouldnt give to much credit to lesnar. his stand up is horrible he looks like a guy that just walked into the gym and is learning how to strike.

Lesnar is an A-hole but I don’t think I wanted to see Mir as Champion he’s been damn arrogant lately.

The point of a fight is to win idiots who critize gsp, and who dropped who? Gsp fought HIS fight, and was trying to sub alves but alves sub defense was too good. You don’t fight against another fighters stengths, alves has vicious leg kicks, any one in the welter weight division would be eating leg kicks all night long. I picked….
Brock Lesnar-who smashed big mouth over rated mir LMAO!!!
Georges St.pierre- alves said he couldn’t take him down and that he would knock him out, and gsp dominates LMAO!!!
Dan hendson-Most beatiful Karma I’ve ever seen, the big mouth bispig almost guaranteeing a Ko LMAO!!!!!!!! It made my year to see him stiff on the canvas like that….beautiful.
Sorry to gloat but it was a sweet night, I just wished gsp would have finished alves but a win is good enough. :)

So brock is an A-hole because he tells it how it is. Frank thought he was all that from the Nog fight when in actuality he isn’t very good since his accident. I got more respect for Brock after tonight because he doesn’t hold back and could care less what anyone thinks of him. Whether you like it or not Brock is a threat in the HW division and no one is gonna have an easy fight against him.

I think Lesnar needs to go back to the WWE, he makes the sport look bad. Giving fans the bird WTF?? They should also make the big basterd make weigh in the day of the fights. HHHMM maybe learn some ground game. Hell then the first fight a little home cookin lol, sexy yama (lol) did not win that fight. Maybe the UFC is in with Donald Trump and Vince Mcmahon, it would explain alot lol….

People who dislike Lesnar. Shut up. He won. He dominated. He did NOTHING different than what Couture did; or other UFC greats. Heck, he did NOTHING different from GSP. He took the guy down, sat on him, and laid dominance.
If you hate Lesnar, then you MUST hate GSP because they fought the SAME EXACT WAY.
Some of you people are beyond retarded. Lesnar is an UNREAL prospect in this sport…and he’s already CHAMPION. This is unreal.

The only person on the earth that can deal with Lesner’s power is Fedor and in my opinion it wouldn’t be that easy. I think he has to catch him in an arm bar. I’m just not sure anyone’s legs are stronger than his arms. I hope dana is calling fedor tonight and offering his soul to get fedor in the octagon.

Brock Lesnar realizes something special. People will pay to watch him win no matter what he does and people will pay to see if the next guy will shut his pie hole. That equals a very good PPV draw.
Is it me or did UFC 100 not feel all that special? I got a better high off of 98. Probably was Brock’s antics that turned me off.

Durty I think there a little pissed alves lost, in such an embarrassing manner, gsp owned him, he did what ever he wanted to do. Gsp is a master of mixing strikes with takedown and is becoming very good at subs as he almost got alves and did knock him down with a punch, who’s done that lately? Gsp is the most well rounded guy on the planet, alves does have excellent sub defense to his credit and is very strong but again gsp makes his opponent “the toughest to date” look bad.

I cannot believe Bisbing lost that fight let alone by TKO. A legend has been downed. I believed him when he said he was way too fast and skilled for Henderson to have a chance. I believed him when he said he would be the first to knock out Dan Henderson. The best shape of his career and so confident of the superior mma skills of the Brits over USA wanna bees and past primers.. You know…old guys! I believe he could have recovered if Hendo would not have thrown that cheap shot as an exclamation. Bisbing may have not known where he was when he actually got off the mat…but…I’m sure he will admit…it was just a very lucky punch that stopped him short of his predictions. This is pure insult to all the Brits who have anointed him sainthood. I say he will be back stronger, faster, and more skilled than ever…and will certainly challenge for the title soon…or was that the dream he was having during the nap he took. Ha ! Shut the FU ….you little bit—! Why does he make me hate him? Does anyone besides me feel that way?

GSP had his way with Alves, very easily might I add. That makes me wonder who is going to derail him in the welterweight division. And then I think, Fitch is probably the next toughest in WW, yet may not get the next shot, and we already saw what GSP did to him. And let’s be honest, Fitch showed nothing tonight that makes me believe that he would be any more formidable than the last fight between them. So does GSP move up? It doesn’t really matter, I see St. Pierre destroying the UFC record for wins and title defenses before he is done and will go down as the best pound-for-pound fighter ever. And I know I rocked some people with that comment, however I really do respect what Emelianenko has done but I just think that he needs to fight in the UFC and beat everyone there to solidify that title. All of the best WW fighters are in the UFC, not all of the HW’s are, but some are, so come beat them and than he can be considered top dog. I am not a believer and I think he is avoiding it.

Please don’t ever post again…..You think Bisping could of recovered if Hendo didn’t throw that cheap shot??? Are you retarded? Your butt lover was already out cold, that was just to wipe that stupid smirk off his face..I loved it!!! Bisping’s a fag, and now the world just found that out. I love it how all is fights are on his turf, but one of the first in many years on U.S soil he is throttled!!!! Just awesome…Atta boy Hendo!!!

War GSP! He probably would have finished Alves if he hadn’t pulled his groin. So Glad Hendo shut bisping up…for now. He would beat marqaurdt too. I still say GSP vs. Silva after he beats swick. That would sell some seriouse ppvs.

Aussie Rob has to be the most ignorant tool on here. He has absolutely no clue when it comes to greatness. GSP dominates as usual and he says he has won any big fights. Lesnar destroys Mir and he sucks. If you were a troll I could understand, but you are clearly just MMR.

Brock Lesnar is a MONSTER ! No doubt…but very, VERY BAD for the UfC. If Dana white has the balls I think he does than he will fix the problem quickly…it’s okay to have a villain in the sport as long as the integrity of the sport is not jeopardized. If the UFC owners and management allow a circus atmosphere to take over this sport…I for one will spend my money else where. I cannot stand the antics and personalities of the WWF. Please do not take away my favorite spectator sport by allowing this behavior to continue. Perhaps Brock would be a better fit elsewhere. That isn’t a display of roids…is it? Too much is not so good…chill bro.!

what the hell happened to Bisbing…the fight went exactly the way I thought it would…if he would have known where he was after getting off the mat…he surely would have protested the results as Henderson threw a needless haymaker after the lights were out…maybe Danny thought he heard “The Count” saying something as his eyes were rolling back into his head…OOPS ! I darn near pissed myself in jubilation. Now shut the hell up " MIchael " or you’ll get another spankin ! REAL:ITY Bites…dont ya think?

Lesnar was disrespectful, and out of control. Flipping off the fans and trashing the sponsor was prolly not very smart… and at the same time, it was brilliant! More people will watch him because they hate him.
P.S. War GSP!

If Lesner is trying to play the “heel” role, so be it if it sells tickets and increases his and UFCs popularity. But what I saw tonight AFTER the Lesner fight was a disgrace and I will never order another PPV again if that is the kind of sideshow trash I see after fights. TapouT, I am fairly certain at your minimum wage job you act just as trashy and classless.

by Ernest Sapp on Jul 12, 2009 5:51 PM EDT reply actions
Ernest Sapp, I’m not sure what you mean by “without much talent”. He was an accomplished collegiate wrestler. He has demonstrated the ability to utilize his tremendous strengh and agility to neutralize opponents who are considered at least somewhat talented athletes themselves. Apparently he has enough talent to do what he’s doing. As far as Fedor goes, I think it would be a competitive fight. Watch the Kevin Randleman/Fedor fight. Randleman was doing well, and Lesnar is probably as capable a wrestler as Kevin, but a whole lot stronger. Fedor will have his hands full.
