MFC 21: Bobby Lashley to debut against Mike Cook on May 15

One of the most dominating up-and-coming fighters in the world has signed on with the Maximum Fighting Championship.
[Prior to his June 27 pay-per-view fight against Bob Sapp for Prize Fight Promotions], former WWE star Bobby "The Dominator" Lashley will step into the MFC ring on Friday, May 15 at MFC 21: "Hard Knocks" live from the River Cree Resort and Casino and airing live throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico on HDNet Fights.
A chiseled and imposing figure at six-foot-three and 265 pounds, Lashley is the premier heavyweight prospect in all of mixed martial arts.
"Bobby Lashley is a phenomenal athlete and a very impressive fighter who wants to make a big name for himself in mixed martial arts," noted MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich. "He is a very exciting prospect and he will get a monumental opportunity to break into the spotlight at MFC 21."
Lashley (2-0) won his debut fight with a 41-second TKO of Joshua Franklin in December 2008. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jason Guida in March.
At Hard Knocks, Lashley will square off against Mike Cook (7-3) who is trained by legendary mixed martial arts persona Frank Shamrock.
"We are excited to partner with the MFC to feature the network debut of Bobby Lashley on HDNet," said HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon. "Bobby's size, name recognition and collegiate wrestling background make him an unbelievable prospect in the heavyweight division."
Lashley had a successful amateur background in wrestling, twice winning the NAIA college championship and then winning pair of U.S. Armed Forces titles. The Junction City, Kansas, native propelled his amateur abilities into the professional wrestling ranks with the WWE. During a three-year run, Lashley won three championships with the WWE, appeared on numerous pay-per-view events, and held prestigious spots on the WWE programs RAW, Smackdown!, and ECW.
HDNet's "Inside MMA" will feature Lashley on the May 1 edition in a no-holds-barred discussion of his transition from professional wrestling to his future in MMA.

I hate assuming dudes are on roids without a positive test to back it up, but THIS DUDE IS ON THE ROIDS. He wrestled at 171 in the Army after college. No way does he add 100 pounds of pure muscle mass in his mid-20s without some pharmaceutical help.

not saying you are not correct ,but we all know how much the fighters really weigh, yet they will fight at a weight class that is like 20 pounds less, and he weighed I believe 250 at his last fight ,and odviously he was not cutting weight

PW,Well i’m not sure what you mean by"pharmaceutical help,so i’ll assumed that you mean roids since that your making the allusion. But it is possible to take 80 or more ponds in the mid-20s without roids. When i was 18 i was still at 185 pounds in,one summer i put up 40 pounds. When i got into college i was playing football at 230-250,and i can assured you that i never took roids in my life.Just a handful of supplements, but never roids. Now i know, there is a thin differences, between certain supplements and roids. But when you are in the NCAA or similar leagues, well you would be damn, stupid to take some roids, and risking your carrer. So that’s why i don’t think that Lashley use some in is college carrer. For his entertainment carrer, that’s another story…

Lashely is going to lose this fight. Mike Cook fought and beat my trainer John Dodson and he is legit i think he has what it takes to beat the BIG man.

I think Lashley has alot of raw talent, not to mention his tremendous size.
He’s with a great camp and i would love to see him in the UFC

how do you get experienced without fighting. is it his fault people want to publisize his fights because he has a decent big name. im not a nuthugger at all but at least he is trying to get some fights, not asking for big names or calling anyone out. and its “our” not “are”. tool

Its sad that are trolls out there Bashing what Lashly is trying to do. Lashly has treated the sport of mma seriously and with a lot of respect. The guy is trying to make a slow and gradual transition into mma, and he has tried to do it the right way, and I respect him a lot for it. Lashly could use his NAME to get big fights, and Kimbo-like paydays, but he DOESNT. He starting his way at the bottom and working his way up the ranks. He should be praised instead of Bashed. Dumb ass Troll!

I disagree John! I knew who Brock was, never heard of Lashly. He couldn’t even come close to finishing Guida (on 2 days notice) and is still making wrestling appearances! Who do you feel would pay him huge money?

First of all who taught you how to spell “meen common bro”“wasent” most of your post is wrong ,and that is not even getting to what you were trying to say.How are you suppose to gain experience without fighting, how about you go back to school, learn how to spell, learn proper English, then come back and try again, douche!
by scott on Apr 23, 2009 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This guy said himself he needs more fights under his belt before he would even consider going to the UFC,that tells you he has tons of respect for the sport, and he does not consider himself as one of the best, but he is trying to become one of the best, but the all knowing Gawd,is the master of MMA,but he can not spell a single word correctly.

he could have said one of the best HW prospects in all of MMA,but it sounds better to the casual fan to say what he said
