Eric Schafer vs Tomasz Drwal fight possible for TUF 9 Finale on June 20
Light heavyweights Eric Schafer (11-3-2) and Tomasz Drawl (15-2) could collide at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 Finale at "The Pearl" at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 20 according to an MMAFrenzy.com report.
Both fighters were most recently in action at UFC 93: "Franklin vs. Henderson" at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland, on Jan. 17 against different opponents.
"Red" -- who is now quietly enjoying a four-fight win streak -- blasted Antonio Mendes en route to a first round technical knockout win. It marked the first time ever that the Milwaukee, Wis., goofball was able to string together back-to-back wins inside the Octagon.
Of course, Schafer was more than likely still riding high after surviving an early Houston Alexander onslaught at UFC Fight Night 15 back in September 2008, eventually choking the father of six unconscious in the waning seconds of the first round.
He now has three wins in five UFC fights under his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, which he will more than likely look to leverage against the hard-hitting "Polish Gorilla" on fight night.
Drwal has been plagued with injuries since his Octagon debut in September 2006 -- a second round technical knockout loss to Thiago Silva at UFC 75: "Champion vs. Champion" in an all-out brawl. Prior to that loss -- just the second of his 17-fight career -- Drwal had reeled off 13 straight victories.
He got back in the win column by making quick work of Ivan Serati earlier this year, smashing him silly and putting him to sleep in little more than two minutes of work. Drwal will more than likely do his best to do the same to Schafer, but he’ll need to be weary of submission attempts while doing it.
TUF 9 Finale features a lightweight match between Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida, as well as a co main event that pits and Joe Stevenson against Nate Diaz in another fantastic 155-pound showdown.
Naturally, the Spike TV special will also host the lightweight and welterweight finales for the ninth season of TUF, which is currently in progress. Coach Dan Henderson is leading a U.S. team against coach Michael Bisping and his British squad.
