Love him or hate, thank you for the blogs!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 2:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I know all you haters are gonna say he put that guy on camera to get good publicity and to you I say fuck off! He told this guy that he’d call him in private and he did! My wife works for the VA hospital system and deals with these guys every day, even if it’s for publicity, its making this guy happy and temporarily forget his injuries, good for him!
yeah, he’s bad for the sport guys, all the fighters hate him and all the managers/trainers seemed to hate him too. Read the body language guys, they are all just having a good fucking time doing what they enjoy!

Kevin, I always agree with you on this type of stuff. I’m a veteran. But it’s funny you jumped the gun and dropped the “F” bomb before anyone even made the comment.

I know, it was a preemptive strike! Call me cowboy Kevin!! lol!

Maybe a little Dana is rubbing off on you Kevin? hahaha!
Some may argue that its self promotion, but I don’t think Dana would do stuff like this if he didn’t care. Props Dana.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
maybe, and I agree, it’s not like he had it up every step of the way! just my opinion!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the true point of it all is that Dana could be a great guy behind closed doors, why does he need acceptance from the fans?.. being a good guy has nothing to do with how you do business..
by RoB on Apr 17, 2009 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
How in the hell is Dana bad for the sport???? I want someone to explain this to me please!!!
by ---Caesar--- on Apr 17, 2009 3:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
some guys think he has a potty mouth, like they don’t. For some reason anyone in the spot light has to be PC! I really haven’t heard a good reason, and no one has one, if they did, the mainstream sponsors backing the UFC, would back out, but I’ve never seen them lose any sponsors. Actually they upgraded from Mickeys to Budweiser!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s hard to give an explanation cause that would take all week, just figure it out for yourselves.. and as i’ve said, fighting and cussing and acting like a jacka$$ goes hand in hand and Dana is the perfect example of that… of course the sponsors are gonna jump on board when they see how much money and how many viewers the UFC gets!.. If the way Dana acts is normal to you than you must be pretty un normal yourself, cause acting like that will get you punched in the face in many places, you could atleast show some respect..
by RoB on Apr 18, 2009 1:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
again (and we will agree to disagree, but it’s a good debate) who is he disrespecting? He never called a gay or lesbian anything, he used a slur that had nothing to do with the gay community. He disrespected a “reporter” who has numerous times not cited sources she should have cited! If he feels truly in is heart he’s right, what did he do wrong?
by kevin on Apr 18, 2009 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually, there are more businessmen that act exactly like Dana (without all the f-bombs) then you think. Just because someone “acts” polite or PC in your face or in public, its usually the furthest thing from the truth around the right people and behind closed doors.
Its Dana’s way of doing business, no asked you or anyone else to like it.
by UFC Champ on Apr 18, 2009 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Great post Kevin, I feel bad for that guy being injured like that in a pointless war but good for Dana making that guy feel better about his life whether its for publicity or not.

Loved this one! i mglad he didnt last to long. I also like the shots he was taking at the haters fro mhis contreversial blog. I liked when he said “Oh great now im going have al lthe bowling geeks after me” By the way, i saw another version of this blog on another website, it had about 2 minutes more footage. Nothing to substantial, but it did have a bit more, this one was edited a bit.

And he said “no pesos” so all us Mexicans are going to hate him now!

I thought the same thing! It’s funny how (with the exception of being filthy rich), I can relate to these guys! My dad on the other hand, is filthy rich and guess what…he and all his rich buddies act the same way! You got to act professional in certain situations (the blog where Dana was at stanford business school) but most of the time it’s just a group of guys hanging out! Why do I need to expect him to act any different than I would hanging out with any of you?
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Thats why I say Dana is the man. Hes your average Joe with money.
by JV on Apr 17, 2009 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
agreed JV! These guys want him to be more like Donald Trump (who isn’t nearly as rich as is perceived, just has his name on everything) proper and suited..thing is, when on the stern show, almost a regular guy!!!

I came from a poor background and I’ve come a long way since then. Money isn’t the divider people think it is. There are shitty and good people on both sides. I notice, however, that people love to impose rediculouse behavior standards on those who have more than they do.

i dont get wat the joke was about when liddell was whispering stuff and shogun, leites and silva were in that crowded hallway?
by ramon on Apr 17, 2009 3:21 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
the only one whispering to Dana was the guy in Chuck’s crew, and that was the joke about his children’s pants.Half the time it seemed like Chuck and the guy who translates for Anderson was joking around

Dana seems like such a cool, generous, down to earth guy. I really believe that he is like that off camera also. The part with the soldier in the wheelchair was touching whether it was on a blog or not. I’m sure that he does things like this all the time we just don’t always hear about them. In my opinion, Dana’s most admirable trait is his loyalty. If you are true to him he will treat you well but if you mess with him (ala Loretta Hunt) he’ll rip into you with a vengeance.
Also, bowling sucks *ss. I never thought there would be a game/sport that involved a ball that I hated.

I am sure he is,but he is also a dick too,but who is not.We all have two sides to us.
by scott on Apr 17, 2009 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I have to disagree there Scott. I’m only a dick to someone when they are a dick to me and they initiate the trouble. That is why I value the loyalty of a person so much. I won’t ever disrespect someone or try to hurt them unless they have started something with me. If that happens, I will get my payback in spades by any legal means necessary.
by Adam T. on Apr 17, 2009 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
so really you do agree, because that is what I meant, we can all be d#cks,I do not agree with being a hole unless someone disrespects you.Which is what Dana seems to do.

These things have some funny clips but for the most part I am bored while watching. The saturday blog is always the best when you see all the fighters backstage and warming up, seeing how friendly Dana is with what fighters and things like that. I don’t need to see how he is loading up his son’s closet or bragging about how he keeps his word. Stick to the fighters and bets with Cordova!

I want one of the Dana White Fanclub shirts that Chuck’s brother was wearing. Dana is to MMA what Don Cherry is to hockey.
by JRK on Apr 17, 2009 5:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Don Cherry for PM! He’s another guy that tells it like it is.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Don Cherry’s actually quite a pusscake when it comes to political stuff too.. because he doesn’t want to lose any fans. He’s shied away from a lot of issues he supported at first due to fear of negative backlash… fact of the matter is Don has gone soft in his old age. He only tells it how he sees it with hockey because nobody will call him out on it, they just say “yes sir”.
Dana can be brash but the dude seems like good people. Regardless of his motives though, a war vet is getting the UFC experience and that’s what matters. At least someone down the line, whether it be Dana or someone else behind the scenes is remembering that these people give their whole being to their country (for better or worse). And when they get back its a quick “thanks”, a kick in the ass and a “sorry about your legs/arms/vision/sanity… etc.” and that’s if they make it back. These people are REAL heroes and I say “you want go to UFC, you’re going to UFC…”, “you want to drive a Ferrari, hop in…”, “you want a samurai sword, here you go – you can slice through 2 grown men with this so be careful, but have fun…” and props to Dana (or whoever) for realizing that these people have made the ultimate sacrifice and they deserve some “back pay”.
Anybody who doesn’t agree is a gayfish… there I said it. they like fishdicks in their mouth.
by fleet on Apr 17, 2009 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly.
I think Don softened up because of some CBC backlash a few years back.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wow, Dana gives a ticket to a war veteran and all of a sudden he’s the best guy in the world? lmao!!!!!
WTF are you people thinkin?
I have a story for you guys….
A man was chosen the humblest man in his community by members of his church and was given a pin to represent the honor. The following Sunday he wore the pin to church….they took it back.
I do not commend people for doing a good deed, then taping it and posting it on the internet. What would be more commendable would be for Dana to by a streetperson a cup of coffee….and tell nobody that he did it. But, of course Dana wouldn’t do that because nobody would hear about it, right?
This guy is a real piece of work I’m telling you.
I do however hope the war vet enjoys his fight weekend though. Props to him.
by introvert on Apr 17, 2009 6:12 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
first of all, he invited the guy unbeknownst to us. Looks like he ran into him in the hotel, he should hide him? I do agree introvert, giving and not telling is cool, but it wasn’t like he was publicizing it like a dick. I do get your point!
.
182??? wow!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 6:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He didn’t publicize it like a dick? You mean he didn’t have his cameraman turn the camera on when he was going to see the guy, then he didn’t look at the edited blog and say “ya that looks good”, then he didn’t post the edited copy online? Really? Sounds pretty dickish to me.
Ya, 182?…I did notice that he was coughing in his interview yesterday. Maybe something is up ?
by introvert on Apr 17, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know introvert. I know you like to find all the negatives in Dana. I’m assuming you live in the US, I doubt the soldier felt exploited, I’m sure he’s happy. These guys are going through an awful lot, and this probably made his year!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 6:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m Canadian.
It’s not about exploitation…it’s about Dana’s “everyone look at me”…“everyone pat me on the back” way of bragging about his good deeds…it’s plain as day.
by introvert on Apr 17, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m a Canadian too.
I WISH we had people in a postion like Dana who had the balls to support OUR troops IN PUBLIC, the same way the Americans do. It is pitifull that only a small number of Canadians stand behind our guys in that same way. Don Cherry being likely the most notable person that comes to mind.
Give a homeless person a cup of coffee you say?? F-em! Get a job! Buy your own cup of coffee. A soldier on the other hand that protects US and our way of life, deserves anything and everything.
If you want to see it as self promotion, pat on the back, whatever – go right ahead. You’re missing the point that an injured soldier is going to have the time of his life this weekend.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
To reiterate….re-read my story about the guy with the pin. Dana inviting the guy = classy (being like the humble guy)…Dana calling him and inviting him to Montreal = awesome (like the guy getting the pin)….Dana taping the meeting with the guy = poor taste (like the guy wearing the pin to church).
Like I keep trying to tell you guys, the guy doesn’t know what the word humility means. This move garners no respect from me.
by introvert on Apr 17, 2009 6:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
point taken introvert. I don’t necessarily agree, I took it more like they were following Dana and he ran into the guy, not that he sought him out to get us to pat him on the back! I do understand what you’re saying too though!
by kevin on Apr 17, 2009 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
…and I’m sure he’s dying to have yours.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Coming from the “f’em, get a job” guy….your opinion means jack shit…here, and everywhere else.
by introvert on Apr 18, 2009 9:07 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Introvert,
What you’re doing is assuming that this is the only good deed that Dana does and has now exploited it for shameless self promotion. SO, if Dana does lets say, 10 good deeds a week and we never heard about them then he’s a saint in your eyes right? But if we hear of even one he’s an ass.
If you hate him so much, don’t bother posting, its getting kind of old.
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
poor cordova; he’s like the geeky guy in high school that the jocks let hang around them so they could have a butt to every joke.

Awesome what Dana did for the war vet!! I agree, fuck being PC, Dana has the best job in the world.. What I don’t like is that he has to explain to the driveby media and tree huggers what MMA is all about.
by DirtbagHtr on Apr 17, 2009 6:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Dana White is a no BS kind of guy. What you see is what you get with him I admire that. He’s a real person, he likes this sport, he isn’t just in this for the money. If it weren’t for him and the fertitta’s none of us would be talking about mma everyday on this site.
i’m not a ufc nuthugger, I’ve been a fan since day one watching pride fights (which i still think are better than ufc events), cage rage, pancrease and K-1.
One thing I will say about Dana White, I’m sick of all these media outlets looking for a quick story on the 5 pm news bashing him for the way he talks. This isn’t ballet, it’s not golf, it’s the fight business… you employ people to smash each other’s face in.
You don’t like it? Tough. All these people crying bloody murder because dana said something that “offended” me, grow up! He’s a fight promoter, his JOB is to make his company, his fighters and his events look like the best thing since sliced bread. You don’t like what he says or what he represents? DON’T WATCH HIM.

WOW, I think you have the same rage I do on this subject. I’m toasting you and having a beer in your honour right now. :)
by UFC Champ on Apr 17, 2009 9:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
LOL, Bottoms up bro! You think that was rage, ask me my opinion on the GSP vs Penn “Greasegate” issue allegations.
I could rant for hours about it and have!
BJ Penn talked himself into a hole, to me, him and tito are one in the same. (Only difference is Penn can actually fight lol) My views on trash talk, hey.. not my style… but it makes for exciting fights, hypes the event. So, talk all the trash you want before and during the fight. When the fight ends – it’s over. Pay the man who beat you his respect. That’s what martial arts is all about, discipline, honour, RESPECT and self defense.
I’ve seen all the tape, I’ve seen the pictures I watched the event on PPV… the amount of grease Phil Nurse applied to GSP’s back after the kinetic energy valve technique was so small it’s a joke that it was even an issue after the fight. Secondly, fight was stopped in rd 4… the “grease” was applied between rounds 1 & 2.. he was toweled down between rounds 2 & 3 and 3 & 4. Penn filed a 20 page complaint to the NSAC, saying how he couldn’t use his rubber guard… got his MOM involved but notice he didn’t do one interview… no post-fight press conference… it’s all bullsh*t GSP had the perfect game plan.. dumped him on his back, postured up on him and ground and pounded til BJ’s camp didn’t believe in him and quit. Nothing to do with grease. BJ Penn quit. Period. And after all BJ could think about is complaining cause he doesn’t have the balls to admit he was beat by the better fighter that night.
Oh man, didn’t mean to get all worked up. Anyway, have a good one.
