Anderson Silva would absolutely manhandle GSP even worse than GSP manhandled BJ Penn… no doubt in my mind!! He is WAY too big for GSP. Silva by KO rd 1

by ---Caesar--- on Apr 17, 2009 11:36 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I totally agree! I dont even want to see that match up. it would be as big of a waste of time as GSP vs. Penn 2 was. sizes doesnt always matter, but when you match up 2 top fighters, thats when size becomes the difference maker.

I want to see Anderson fight the big boys at 205…..because I think Anderson could take them…..Anderson is a natural LHW. why waste our time matching him up against a welterweight? I really hope that this match up NEVER happens. It would be surrounded with tons of media coverage….and the match up will never come close to the actual hype surrounding the fight.

Anderson needs to fight Bigger people….not smaller ones! Simple as that!

Moot point, because GSP ain’t getting past Alves!

by BNF on Apr 17, 2009 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

C-mon BNF, GSP will get past Alves in a very hard fought battle. Even though I think Anderson is WAY too big for GSP, Id still like to see it!

I’m the biggest GSP nuthugger around and want to see this fight. I do hate that the size difference is a little unreasonable. In fact, i will admit that Anderson should be the favorite by quite a bit. I do, however, give GSP a chance. The best GNP in the world has a good Chance of being the formula to beat Silva. If they were the same size, I would give the edge to GSP. I guess I don’t care about the KO loss to Serra or how many times Silva has produced memorable and dramtic KO’s. I’m simply thinking about how their skillsets match up. I don’t think Georges would think for a moment that standing would be a good idea so it takes that out of the equation. I think the question would be, can GSP get him down? My answer is he has a damn good shot with the level of wrestling he has achieved. Can he finish from there? I think absolutely. I don’t see aderson escaping like he did with Lutter (Sp?)

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Apr 17, 2009 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He will get passed him in the second round,BNF.Don’t get me wrong,Alves poses a threat, but I believe GSP has a point to prove after the whole controversy, and will come out to dismantle Alves. After that what is left for GSP to do in his division, nothing. He has said himself ,he will have to move up soon, because he is getting bigger. So if Anderson does not finally make the move to 205,they will have to face each other. With all that said ,if there was not a belt involved GSP and Alves should be fighting at 185,they are both huge 170 fighters and Thiago already has problems making weight.

by scott on Apr 17, 2009 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP is way too multi-talented for Alves. Early take-down for GSP will breakdown Alves. Fearing the takedown, Alves wont open up his striking.

“all the blood would go into his shoulder and it would have become stiff and his hand would not come out as it is usually” – i came up with that myself!

Good post scott!I think so to,GSP will make the move up.He said that,he would, have to put up some weight before taking on sylva. So i am sure that he probably won’t want to fight anderson if he just weight 190,witch is his natural weight right now.If he got to 200 pounds,we all know that,he won’t be,able to fight at 170 anymore. But the thing is this.Gsp say that he always need a challenge to,performed at is best.Well that is,one for sure. But again he says that he,would never fight a friend(question of honor)and the problem is that,he’s got a lots a friends at that weight class. So that, might be problematic.

No way Dr. Phil. Gsp way better wrestler than thiago alves, the minute george is losing standup he’ll take em down. Don’t care what u say but I see gsp DOMINATING this dude. And yes I’ve seen plenty of thiago, I know he has freakish 77 inch reach. I know he has great leg kicks, but he’s never face St.Pierre or anyone his caliber.

by PhilQNY on Apr 17, 2009 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You guys just don’t get it. Gsp is used to (and can hang with) wrestling with guys bigger than Silva. A great wrestler will throw around a guy 20 or 30 lbs heavier than himself, especially if they are FREAKISHLY strong like GSP. Silva’s striking might be to much for GSP, but his size won’t even make up for GSP’s much supperior wrestling. There is a reason guys from GSP’s camp speak so highly of GSP’s skills (they have trained will him).what people don’t realize is GSP is stronger than most LHWs Jardeen.

When has BJ ever been mauled by someone bigger than him? That’s right, GSP was the only one able to do that. GSP has mauled all the biggest WWs except for Alves and he will maul him too. Silva starts out slow and GSP comes at you hard right from the start. Silva never throws anything until he gauges your timing and GSP will dump him on his head by then. It’s not even a question if GSP can take Silva down, because his TD defence is nowhere near all the top wrestlers that GSP takes down at will. Maybe GSP won’t beat him, but it sure as hell won’t be a cake walk for Silva. Another thing you guys aren’t taking into consideration is GSP won’t have to cut weight so he will be able to add at least 5 more quallity lbs. GSP at 195 ripped is bigger (at least in quallity muscle not fat) than your average 205 pounder who is packing 20 lbs of useless fat.

by Gord on Apr 17, 2009 9:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s you and I again Gord. We should probably save some of our energy for when/if this fight happens. I can’t say GSP will win, but I can guarantee that GSP will take the kind of beating from Silva that he deliver to BJ.

I totally agree, I want to see Anderson Silva at 205lbs, there’s so many guys for him to fight and challenge himself all over again. I hope he wants a 205lb belt before he retires.

gsp is used to sparring with rashad evans, and pretty much having his way and taking him down at will. RASHAD is around 230 lbs before the weight cut, also gsp can hand with olympic HW wrestlers, so its silly to think he couldnt take down anderson. It would be much easier than taking down rashad, or olympians way stronger than anderson

by david on Apr 18, 2009 8:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

St.Pierre= best wrestler in ufc. Spider= best striker in ufc. Be really interesting to see how this oine would play out. While I truly believe spider would win I know he wouldn’t dominate gsp. While in camp gsp has no problem takin shad, jardine and nate down. All way bigger guys than him. But its hard for them to take him down. His wrestling has come so far its nuts. This fight would not be a waste of time!

by mr guillotine on Apr 18, 2009 8:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think the GSP – Silva fight would be a walkover for Silva. You guys seem to forget that size isn’t everything – there is something called skill and planning that helps. Most of you weren’t around the days when UFC began…..there were no defined weight categories. There were 40+ lb weight differences back in the day……..

Both Silva and GSP are the top guns right now. I would give Silva the edge and all you have to do is watch either of the Franklin fights to see his true skill. Who knows what the hell he was doing with Cote but that certainly isn’t the Silva that would scare anyone. And GSP is one of the best strategists out there so you can’t rule him out either….I think it would be a 4 rounder and not a 1 round romp. End result would be Silva by KO though.

by deadgrassinyeard on Apr 18, 2009 7:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have to disagree, gsp has amazing wrestling and he is a huge 170 and probably a decent sized 185. He has the ability to take anybody down, and we saw that in the primetime show when he was taking down rashad evans. He is a black belt in bjj and i think he has the wrestling and the ground game to beat silva and i think he has enough stand up to not get koed.

by matt on Apr 17, 2009 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree. The Fitch fight showed that GSP isn’t as big as most make him out to be. Fitch is a guy who seems like he’d be a decent 185, as far as size goes. Picture Martin Kampmann with GSP. Gsp is a big welterweight, but not nearly big enough to compete at 185 and not be at a huge disadvantage.

I also don’t want to see this happen. Anderson would win this hands down.

Anderson NEEDS to move to 205. John’s problems with Forrest (about how hes 240 and cuts to LHW) can be applied to Anderson. If he walks at 215, why does he waste time beating up all the little kids 30lbs lighter? RIght now, Anderson should have already wrecked the LHW division, and we should be talking about Anderson fighting the next champ at HW.

by Synyster on Apr 17, 2009 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

His skill set is the difference, yes at first he will be a midsize 185,but he was a midsize 170 when he joined UFC.He still was dominating when he first joined his only loss was to Matt Hughes, who was his idol at the time.I know he lost Serra, but that was years later.Long story short is he can make the jump, but like he said he will have to take some time and put more mass on

by scott on Apr 17, 2009 12:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed, Anderson realy shouldn’t be wasting his time with the MW division. He should have had a LHW shot by now. I fear time’s running out for him and he’s going to retire without really fulfilling his true potential.

by attakdog on Apr 17, 2009 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Anderson would rape GSP, but I’d pay to see it just because I’m not a GSP fan! I think Silva should vacate his ttile and move through the ranks (or an instant shot) at LHW.
or UFC sign Fedor and have him fight at LHW against Silva…talk about super fight! That would be way more entertaining than Fedor/Brock or Fedor/Randy, the 2 top P4P guys in the world fighting!!! I’d pay 100 for ppv on that one!!!!!

by scott on Apr 17, 2009 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If they fought at 185, Silva would handle him much like GSP handled Penn. I just think that at this level, going up a class is not the same as used to be, when you are fighting an equally skilled opponent.
Sure, a smaller guy can beat a bigger man when there is a great skill gap, but that ain’t Silva.
I would be somewhat surprised if GSP actually wants this fight. I’d love to see it either way.

Fedor really should be fighting at 205,I mean he could clearly lose the weight,he could probably get down to 185,that is the craziest thing about Fedor he looks like the most out of shape fighter, but the guy is a freak.

by Syd[a.k.a. "The Negation"] on Apr 18, 2009 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually I think the competition would be tougher for Fedor at 215lbs in the UFC, the fighters are quicker and more athletic than the heavyweights.

I mean 205 lbs.

by DAVE A on Apr 18, 2009 3:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m undecided on who I think would win a GSP/Silva match but isn’t Silva a black belt in BJJ as well? Regardless, the most effective approach I’ve seen is putting Silva on his back. Yeah, there’s the danger of the triangle (see Lutter). Dan Henderson did alright with him for a bit, as did Travis Lutter. I think GSP is better than those two at maintaining a good GNP without leaving a submission out there for Silva to take. I would love to see it, if they really match up in size/weight.

What have you been smoking Caesar? Skill will always beat out size. Yes Anderson is a bigger man but if GSP can keep away from his extremely long reach he will most definately have a chance. GSP knows what hes up against and always has a plan excersised in his apponents strenghts and weaknesses. In case you havent watched andersons last two fights, they were pathetic. I think his days of being the middleweights prime fighter are gone. I just hope GSP gets the chance to knock his block off before Anderson silva fades into black.

GSP has great wrestling ,we have seen him take Rashad down with ease .GSP said himself when asked about Anderson,"Anderson ,he is a really big guy,I would have to take some time to put weight on.He acted like he was up to the challenge, but he already knows what he would have to do to compete.GSP has the tools to be a great fight with Anderson, wrestling, bjj, great striking, all he needs to make up is the size ,which with some time he can accumilate. The question is will GSP speed and athleticism make the transition.

good post! gsp does take alot of the lhw’s down at his camp. the only thing is, if silva sparred with that camp, he’d ktfo alot of those lhw’s on a regular basis. if gsp could create good angles or keep silva from creating his deadly angles he would stand a good chance, but leave one angle open and it’s over, aka the matt serra angle.

I’d give GSP a shot at pulling off the win. The guy’s a machine, very athletic, very dsciplined and always has a gameplan.

Anderson can get lazy in his fights and if he underestimates GSP he could be bang in trouble.

Saying that I do think the size difference will ultimately play a big part and give Anderson the edge, but I don’t think GSP will suffer going up in weight anywhere near as much as CBJ Penn did. GSP is always in top shape and renowned for his stamina, where as Penn is renowned for not being much of a trainer.

I would love to see a GSP/Silva fight at 180 or 185. At first, I thought that GSP would be overwhelmed by Anderson’s size and strength but now I’m not so sure. I believe that GSP could and would get Anderson to the ground where Silva would be in trouble. IMO, GSP has the perfect game to beat Anderson because of his speed (avoid strikes and takedown shot) and his amazing grappling and top control on the ground. Don’t get me wrong though, there is just as good a chance that GSP gets caught on the way in or gets wrapped up in a clinch with Anderson. That would be a bad spot and more than likely a TKO for Anderson. It would be an amazing battle of who could impose their will on the other because EVERYBODY would know what GSP is going to try to do. I like Anderson a lot but I love GSP and would be very nervous for him in that fight if it did occur.

I remember when Dan Henderson fought Anderson. I love Dan Henderson and at the time I was still bitter over Anderson’s beatdowns of Rich Franklin. I don’t believe that I have ever wanted somebody to win more. When Silva sunk the choke in and Henderson tapped I walked out of the room down the hall banging my fists against the cabinets as hard as I could. It wasn’t until the next morning that I was in a good mood again. That’s bad.

I always find it interesting when that scenario happens in my head too, rooting for one guy because of what their opponent has done to one of your favorite fighters in the past(wait… what?). Although Ive never wanted Anderson to get beat. Why people get behind the fighters that they do is why this sport is great. But some of my favorite fights are when i like both fighters enough but dont care who gets the win, ala condit/kamp and soon GSP/Alves

by scott on Apr 17, 2009 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree that size and not skill would be the difference in a GSP-Silva fight. Silva won’t beat GSP because he’s bigger, he’ll beat GSP because he’s better. GSP would not just show up at 185 out of shape. He would put on muscle to be a legit 185. The difference in the fight is that Anderson is both way too precise and powerful a striker for GSP.

I think GSP gets past Alves though. Alves has power, but he’s not as precise as GSP. 9 out of 10 times, precision trumps power.

by Pat on Apr 17, 2009 12:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pat, you are forgetting that GSP’s wrestling is way better than Silva’s. If GSP doesn’t want to strike he will take Silva down in the first 5 seconds, just like he did to Serra and Fitch. If GSP can take Fitch down at will, I’m sure he won’t have a problem taking Anderson down. Forget GSP getting caught be a knee on the way in. When has GSP even came close to eating a knee on the way in? His opponent would have to see it coming, but GSP’s take downs are so fast and fluid they are on the ground before they can even think about throwing a knee.

I’d like to see Anderson and Fedor meet myself. I am Canadian and a big GSP fan however the size advantage goes to Anderson and like GSP proved with BJ – Thats a big advantage.

Don’t get me started with the Anderson/Fedor fight wish. I would pay a stupid amount of money to see that fight. I think that I would take the week off from work leading up to that fight because by concentration would be so F’d up.

Fedor had problems with Arlovski atheticism,I think Anderson could pick Fedor apart ,but again if it goes to the ground, Anderson would be in worlds of trouble. How about Anderson stops even worring about the belt ,and him and Dana start his legacy tour, from now on he only fights people that are going to prove that he is the best p4p fighter.GSP,Fedor,Rampage,Rashad, and although he claims he will never fight him, Lyoto. He talks about retirment,he wants to be very wealthy ,but he also cares about being known as the best.Well lets get it done.No matter how marketable he is or is not, everyone of those fights would be some of the biggest in the history of MMA

I couldn’t agree more. Come on! I think Anderson is losing some interest (although he won’t admit it) with these middleweight fights which are mismatches in my opinion. I believe that this is why he wants to fight Roy Jones in boxing, to test himself. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would have a difficult time bouncing back from a loss if indeed it happened, either in boxing or in mma.

you are correct it is odvious he is becoming bored no matter what he says to his translator.Lets stop with the wasting of someone’s career,he wants to do it you can read it on his face ,he wants to prove he is the best, and as long as he is fighting the Thales of the world he is wasting his talent.Lets get it done Dana, you know Dana has to hate putting Anderson in matches that he knows is not even close.Cote,Lietes, then what Bisping or Henderson again. He cannot help but to lose his hunger as a fighter. He is clearly being shown that there is no fights left.Maia would be interesting, but what would we rather see Fedor/Anderson or Anderson/Maia . Rampage/Anderson or Anderson/Maia.I think it is pretty clear what the fans would rather see,and Anderson would be more excited to fight

My personal thoughts are most people here are underestimating gsp and I think he would do much better than most think he would. Secondly why is this such a big subject? For gods sake leave it alone gsp has never brought up the subject of fighting anderson, only because he’s been asked a million times about it. Getting an immediate title shot is kind of stupid to me, but having said that I think gsp would do much much better against anderson than penn did again gsp. Penns only real chance was to catch gsp on there feet like anderson, and I feel very confidence gsp could take anderson down, easier than he did penn. Gsp likes to take strikers down when they throw leg kicks(something penn didn’t do) he just kicks to bait them to throw a kick then boom there down, I saw this in the pett spratt fight and the koscheck fight. I personally think people will be surprised at how well gsp handles pure strikers like alves and silva… if gsp and silva ever fight that is…not that he’ll win but he’ll do better than people think….my two cents.

by nathan on Apr 17, 2009 1:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The reason the talk started was because 2 reasons, first the odvious they are both ranked back to back in the p4p rankings. Second,he was over heard telling Dana on a vblog, that he will have to move up soon because he keeps getting bigger as he gets older,as soon as that went up the talk started.

LOL Adam T and scott I’m with ya!!! I used to HATE diego sanchez and when diego ko’d riggs I was so mad I ran up to the wall and punched a hole in it!!! What a psycho eh? I was also pretty pissed too when silva beat hendo. I still think the guy who has the best shot at silva will be a great wrestler/grappler, who isn’t willing to trade with silva and is smarter than lutter. Even though I know the odds don’t favor gsp I still would like to see that fight, hopefully before silva retires.

I want to see a Henderson vs. Silva 2!! I think Hendersons cardio was not were it should of been from cutting weight, I’m sure Henderson will get by bisping and when he deserves a second shot. If GSP dominates Alves I would be suprised and more willing to see a Silva GSP fight but I’ll wait tell after the Alves fight that I think GSP is going to win in the later rounds possibly by decision.

id rather see hendo/silva 2 or marquardt/silva 2 than this fight. i don’t think gsp has the size and reach to swim with anderson.

i’d pay more money to watch anderson knock dana white out then GSP. i think at this point that is dana’s biggest $$$ opportunity.

by chris on Apr 17, 2009 4:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You do know that Silva only has a 1 inch reach advantage, right. Silva will probably be 10 lbs heavier than GSP. 10 lbs is dick all when up against a way better wrestler. Not to mention Silva is a little smooth and probably that 10 lbs is just fat. You have to factor in that GSP will be bigger when he moves to MW. Silva has a stiking advantage, that’s it. GSP will have the upper hand on the ground, mark my words.

by Gord on Apr 17, 2009 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

D. Maia should be on Silva’s mind. becasue he will be the one to finally beat the spider.

by Salatious on Apr 17, 2009 5:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good point. Maia is extremely dangerous! I’d love to see Silva’s next 2 fights be against Maia and Marquardt.

by LJ on Apr 17, 2009 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i don’t think maia deserves a shot yet. beating sonnen isn’t really equal to a title shot although it was a great finish. but then again so was marquardt’s finish of gouveia who in my opinion is a much tougher opponent than sonnen.

with the UFC promising bisping a match with silva if he beats hendo, it doesn’t really matter what we think. who cares about what makes sense, right, dana? oh that’s right, it makes sense to your wallet so forge ahead.

hendo is my favorite fighter in the MW division but I think marquardt’s the big dog at MW right now under silva.

Big fights get me going as well. When my fighter loses I don’t punch things I just get drunk to the point of passing out lol. But when Lesner beat Randy I was sitting on my couch and I got so excited I jumped up off the couch screaming holy sh**t Lesner won and on the second jump I went a little bit too high and my head went into my ceiling fan and I fell to the ground in a bit of pain spilling my beer in the process. I’ve never seen my wife laugh so hard.

Dam so many ignorant comments. First gsp said he would take alot of time to put weight on so weight would not be a factor. He is not going to go in thinking talent will do it like bj penn. Second if gsp doesnt want to stand he will put your ass on the mat. Last time i checked silva take down defense kinda sucks. Franklin marquardt, hendo, EVEN lutter took him down. People who think alves is going to knock gsp out ha who has he knocked out? Parisyan not a striker matt hughes not a striker and some worthless jap ha. Gsp submission first round on alves quick work.

Silva: “It is unfortunate that we are both Brazilian!” WTF? I’m getting a little sick of hearing this BS! They fight each other in their own country all the time! I can appreciate Patriotism and love for a fellow countryman! But, it seems like there are a lot of Brazilians who say that everytime they may be fighting another Brazilian! It’s funny that you never hear Japanese, Brits, Americans, etc. saying that! And I don’t buy for one minute that they are more Patriotic than other countries! No F’ing way! I find it disrespectful to all non-Brazilian fighters as well as fans from other countries! I know some may not agree! But, this is my take on it! I am interested in hearing your thoughts as well! But, good luck trying to convince me otherwise!

by Dana's a CrossDresser on Apr 17, 2009 8:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If this match happens, I would be rooting for GSP…what worries me is Silva’s reach. In the Penn fight, GSP did not shoot, but instead attempted to take Penn down via clinches. After the fight GSP said that that was his plan because he was worried about Penn’s knees if he attempted a shoot from outside.

That is a good gameplan against Penn…but I see the same problem when facing Silva, but the solution (take downs from the clinch) would be much more difficult against Silva. Given Silva’s reach advantage and great footwork, I think it will be very difficult for GSP to get inside on Silva and get a clinch…and if he does get a clinch, Silva is extremely dangerous there.

The more I think about this fight, the more I am convinced that Silva would win.

I know that this has been said before, but I think that it is THE deciding factor in the pound-for-pound question…Silva is a HUGE 185er…sure, he has been dominating his opposition, but really should be fighting at LHW. GSP is a big 170, but not the biggest and has lost to lesser competition (Matt Serra). Fedor is undefeated and is one of the smaller fighters in his division. These facts have to be taken into account when comparing these fighters!

i dont get it..is silva referring to gsp when he talks about people calling him out and saying things to hype the fight?

by Katch22 on Apr 18, 2009 1:08 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

GSP’s fight with Alves should be a good indicator of how he fares against a larger opponent. If he gets past Alves convincingly, he has a better chance of beating Silva than most people here are willing to give.

Silva doesn’t have a great takedown defense and he’s much more beatable on the ground than standing; Lutter and Henderson proved that. GSP has an excellent submission defense, best takedowns, and the most brutal GnP in the sport today; he proved that against BJ.

While GSP is at a considerable size and standup disadvantage, he still has the style that poses problems for Silva. This hypothetical fight would be a toss-up.

However, if GSP is the same size as Silva, then this would be an easy call in GSP’s favor, thus making GSP the top P4P fighter in the sport today.

GSP is stronger, and faster. He has the best tools to beat Anderson.

by rti27 on Apr 18, 2009 4:58 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

First and foremost Alves poses NO threat. John Fitch was bigger and stronger than Alves and GSP walked through him with ease. After the W in July I give GSP 3 – 5 months to gain about 10 lbs-grant it he walks around at atleast 185 maybe more, I’d like to see him cut 5 – 10 to 185. Anderson is taller but John Fitch is 6’1. GSP’s ground game is stronger and dirtier – Anderson’s BJJ is rediculous but is limited especially when held in side control & half guard and that’s where the problems would be. If you remeber silva and henderson – anderson looked spooked when henderson had him in half guard and g&p’d him. Henderson fucked up becuase he tried to stand and trade w/ him and thats a no-no.

by tommyj on Apr 20, 2009 5:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

this is definatly a tough fight to call, for any of you to say anderson will walk all over gsp, well thats just rediculous, same as for anyone to say gsp would walk all over anderson, this is probably the best fight any organization could have, both guys are not that far off when it comes to size, gsp walks around at 190-195, so for anyone to think he’s too small they’re wrong, if anyone is going to beat anderson it will be gsp, all i ever hear is people say how this guys is better then gsp at wrrestling,or at striking,or at jiu-jitsu,and i’ve yet to see anyone over power him in any of those aspects, yah he’s took a couple losses, but in this game anything can happen when fist are flying, you can say matt serra is a bum,but i’d like to see any of you go stand in there witrh him throwing his grenades in ur face… hands down, this is gonna be a great fight if it happens, i wouldn’t put money on it, but i think gsp shocks a lot of ppl and walks away a winner.

by nevil on Apr 22, 2009 10:07 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

you guys are dumb! Gsp is way stronger than anderson silva, he would pick silva up and slam him on his back and keep him there for as long as it takes to beat the crap out of him! I mean look at alves! he man handeled alves and anlves is a monster. Gsp is wayyyyy under rated and i believe if enough time is given for georges to add about 10lbs of muscle( he walks around at 185 ) he will do just fine, and shock the hell out of all you anderson fans.

by Tc on Oct 23, 2009 2:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’m a huge GSP fan Tc and I think Anderson would be to much for him as well. Both them are pound for pound top fighters for sure but Silva is really a LHW his ability to cut weight is amazing but your right GSP could be stronger but on the ground Silva has some of the strongest legs in MMA and best ground defence in the stand up you must agree Silva would win that one and on the ground even though GSP may be stronger the long limbs and BJ like JJ skills would be a tough challenge for the much shorter GSP. To many make an issue on the weight it the combination of the weight hight and skill that would give Silva to many advantages. I would like to see GSP try though and believe he can give Silva the fight of his life but I don’t think he can pull of the win.
