The first-ever show from the new-look Strikeforce MMA was not the only milestone to take place this weekend: MMAmania.com celebrated its third birthday in typical silent fashion.
None of our loyal readers bothered to send us their good wishes, but that's okay, we're used to giving all we got and receiving little in return.
That's just how we roll ... and how we have handled our business since Day One.
Kidding aside, I just want to take the opportunity to quickly thank all of you and everyone behind the scenes who allow us to do what we do, which is scouring the Web, delivering exclusive content and breaking news frequently all in one convenient location.
If you haven't noticed, we also like to have a little fun along the way. It makes all those late nights, early mornings and long days (even holidays) worth every ounce of energy we put into this online mixed martial arts machine.
We never take ourselves too seriously. And I think that resonates with most of you -- this is all about discussing a great sport within in a tight-knit community of knowledgeable (sans the handful of inevitable trolls) and hardcore fans.
The best part is we've just scratched the surface.
Most of you know we have now joined the SB Nation, which essentially will translate into a better user experience for all of you. We have some great people working behind the scenes to ensure that MMAmania.com 4.0 is the best one yet.
Stay tuned in the weeks and months ahead for more detailed updates. But trust me when I say there are some truly great and innovative things on the horizon.
I don't want to turn this into a tree-hugging love or all out bash-fest. So in typical MMAmania.com fashion, I'd like to propose a contest that is fitting of such a moment.
Here it is:

I’ve visited this site since UFCMania. and I was searching for up to date results for UFC 69. Got pissed when I saw Kos beat Diego, then pissed myself when Matt Serra beat GSP.

I was rolling through those prehistoric posts, and apparently Forrest was going to fill in for Tito to fight Ken Shamrock back at UFC 61. I lol’d.
And it must have been demoralizing for Mania to have all those news posts and 0 comments. Unlike today, where most articles get at least 20+ comments

I remember all those guys. It will come as no surprise, I found my way here looking for Andre Arlovski news and saw UFCMania in the search engine results, and have come back several times per day ever since. That special contribution article about Randy Couture (who is the man) was my introduction to a less than agreeable point of view and style, but I decided to keep coming back anyways. I cant remember exactly when I started blogging but it had to be close to the start of the site. I have NEVER blogged on any other site in my life…including non-mma sites as well.
I remember when I first joined, I was really confrontational, always fighting with other bloggers, and never respecting anyone’s opinion when it was different then mine. Violentmike noticed that all our opinions were pretty much the same and calmed me down and showed me how to blog with “HOnor” hahaha…Not being confrontational. AND THATS HOW MMA’s biggest BroMance between me and Violentmike started! hahahah Love you Mikey! lol
i can still remember the names of guys that were posting on this site when I started: C-war, Mr. Nc 17, Violentmike, Philqny and many other guys who still blog on this site today!

Alotta memories posted in this thread from some of the UFCMania veterans. People hated MorethanUFC(MTU)and rightfully so but the guy did know his MMA. Ruan Fly…I didnt know you were Jason Bang. I’m all reading your posts and thinking to myself how this “new guy” seems to know his stuff only to find out you’re actually an “old guy” who’s posts I’ve always respected. I’ll join the bandwagon and agree that Chef Daddy will be missed. What ever happened to The Anomaly? I liked that guy. He was one of the few Rampage fans (including myself) that were on this site when he 1st came to the UFC. As a matter of fact, I think that was one of the 1st posts I started making here. I found this site after a heated UFC debate with my Co-Workers. I think I was looking for some stats to back up a claim I was making. Either that or stats to undermine someone elses claim :) Anyways, good times here. Most everyone is respectful the majority of the time and the posters here are much more knowledgeable than at Sherdog, mmajunkie and other sites that I visit time to time. Like some others I used to be in the top 10 list of posters on this site back in the day but between work, wife & 2 children I only get time to actually post in infrequent bursts…BUT…I do make it a point to visit the site 2-3 times a day from my Blackberry! I’m addicted, what can I say. Keep up the good work Mania! I thoroughly enjoy the site.

I think I started to wander to this site around late 2007. Since then, this has been the “newspaper” here in the office with my MMA buds. At home, I always jockey for position when it comes to usin’ the computer because I just have to get my daily dose of mma fix!
At first, I found the punditz here immature or not knowledgeable. I even made enemies, like brendan and some other guys. But in the end, brendan and I ended up agreeing with each other. Made some new online friends too like John, Kev, Chef, and some other guys too that I didn’t know who were Filipino who were also posting here[like gaara and some others].
All in all, thanks mania for bringin’ me here to this cyberspace of yours. I thought I knew everythin’[been a fan of MMA since the dark ages]. But I’ve met my match with the maniacs here…

i can’t remember the first time i came to this site but i can remember why, i found it and found there news was much faster then the other ones i was using and always spot on..
i’ve been a fan of MMA since i was a little kid watching tank abbot fight (i’m only 20 right now so i was like 3) and just from what i hear about how great the events are live from people on this site im thinking i might go to the rematch with faber/brown this year since it’s a hometown deal and the UFC hasn’t shown any plans on returning to sacramento soon

Happy Birthday Mania!
This truely is far and away the best mma site, like many others i did the rounds before settling here.
My levels of commitment consist of the following…
1) When my alarm goes off in the morning, to stop myself from falling back asleep i log into mania via my phone internet every morning first thing (much to my girlfriends disaproval).
2) I got hauled into my bosses office for spending too much time on here. This resulted in me getting barred! Ahh but Dave from IT isn’t as smart as he looks, if i google search mmamania first rather than going direct i can get in!! Ha Nick J: 1 Dave from IT: 0
3) Up my gym we get free internet. For some reason it stopped mania in their firewall?? I emailed their head office and got that sorted.
Plus more, yes i know i am sad but this site gets me through the many boring hours at work and i owe it my dedication for that.
I remember the old way of posting and when everyone kicked off when it changed, UFCmania, i remember wildman (lol), Mr NC 17, linx, cheff daddy etc, … all rest in peace.
All joking aside, i live in London and any of the staff or regular posters have got a roof over their head and a drinking partner if you fancy coming over for a show (Bisping vs Silva UFC 108 anyone) provided your not an axe murderer that is.
Much love maniacs, i am now late for work (point four on above list maybe!!)

YOU know who I miss that doesnt post anymore…..Its been a while now so the new guys might not remember him….LINX!!! I loved that dude! He was Brazilian and really knew his brazlian mma fighters…Linx had a lot of knowledge and I miss Dude!
Stager lee is also one of my favorite bloggers. He isnt around much anymore, but he does pop in and blog about once every 2 weeks. Stager Knows his stuff! He put me onto Banha Cane!
I would like to think its fair to say that I know a thing or two about mma and its fighters, but what I love about this site is that no matter how much you already know, you learn so much more from people on this site.

YOu guys have any idea how much I learn about the ju jitsu side of a fight from a guy like PhilQny? I watch fights while on the Phone with Phil, and the way he breaks down whats going on when the fight hits the mat is just AMAZING. I learn so much from just being on the phone with Phil while a fight is on. YOu guys know how Bas Rutten is always teaching about the ground game when commentating on a fight? THats exactly what Phil does….Phil knows the technical side of Ju jItsu so well, that I could listen to him for hours!
Mania, and your workers….Thanks for getting me addicted to this site. and to all the bloggers, it has been a pleasure intelligently debating all you guys…. I have been Rocking with you guys for close to 3 years now, and its truly been a pleasure!

Happy Birthday MMAMANIA!! I’ve been here since maybe late feb or early March 2007. I surf the net here and there for MMAnews etc.. but this is the only place I speak my mind, debate and share my views on Martial Arts.
I remember just Googling ufc.. and ufcmania and junkie popped up.. I’m like.. hummm what’s this??
Long and behold.. a new addiction was formed to this great site. At first I wasn’t sure how it worked and what not.. and I would just read threads.. and view comments.. both on junkie and Mania.. and then I realized.. Oh Sh$%t I too can comment up in here.. you my first comment.. was like in slow motion.. click here.. screen name.. go. Oh #$% what I just said popped up.. then Oh S#$^ someone just responded to what I said.. oh word!!
It took literally a day or 2.. and I was hooked on Mania.. from then to today I enjoy the format here better.. and have come across some awesome peeps on here.. ya’ll know who you are.. and had to swat some bugs here and there.

Ahhh Krystal Steal, way to celebrate a special occasion.
I started coming on this site during the build up to the Hughes vs. GSP II fight. I was just googling looking for articles on it and I hit one on this site. I’ve enjoyed the site and it is quite civil for the most part and even when people joke around, most of the folks on this site are smart enough to pick up on the fact that most things are jokes here. I really like the site and now because of the shitty economy I’ve been put on the afternoon shift. I’ll be on here later in the day but more often reading the comments.

Happy birthday, I’ve been checking out the articles since back to the days of UFCMania, as I was hoping to see some funny reviews of TUF 5 and I stumbled on this blog. Since then I’ve become a much bigger fan of MMA and I thank you all for informing me about promotions other than the UFC and for entertaining me with your witty banter.

I’ve been a fan of mmamania for a long time. When I was stuck in Iraq, it was the only thing that got me through the day sometimes. I would check the site for any updates and any piece of information of the outside world. The only good thing about being in that country was on the Armed Forces Network they would televise the UFC events for us for free.
I truly enjoy this site and reading Nostradumbass and reading the comments from many of the regulars on this site. Even Kevin ;D
I’m even a mmamania facebook fan.

This site is the best and like many have stated before it is the first page that I search once I get home from work each day. Like all MMAmaniacs I hope this site continues for years to come. Happy Birthday! I have been coming to this site for about 2 years and I remember some heated conversations with my roommates about a year ago where we debated the future of Affliction. Needless to say I feel like many that Affliction has it’s back against the ropes. Time will tell and I know Mania will be here to cover all the stories!

Happy birthday mania! Been reading this blog since the UFCMANIA days as well, but with all the other mess in my life, I barely write anything. I think my first post was either just before 72 or after. I’m pretty sure Mania thought I was a troll as I had a ridiculous anecdote from the afters at 72 which involved….I can’t say it because they won’t post it.

I haven’t been here since the beginning but when I did find the site it was still ufcmania.com. The news reporting and sarcasm & humor in most of the items quickly made me a fan of this site and I still am. I didn’t make my first post until a couple months ago though…can’t remember where though.

I’ve only been around for a little over a year, and I don’t exactly remember how I found this site in the first place. But ever since I did, it is my 1 stop for mma news every day, usually multiple times. I don’t post a lot but I read most of the comments. I’m a newer fan of MMA, only a couple years into it, as I think TUF 3 with Tito and Ken was when I really started getting into it. If it wasn’t for this site, I don’t think I would have gotten as into it. So thanks mmamania, and thank you to all the people that post here, especially the regulars that post here often.

I haven’t changed my screen name and I remember a few PhilQNY for one…me and him were arch nemesis after the fight gsp/serra fight arguing back and forth LOL.
