Very insiteful comment! Thanks!
I think Fedor would sub Brock in the 1st round. The only thing that could save Brock is his strength in an armbar or choke. Until he can prove his ground game is good enough to with stand a heel hook or leg bar he will be nothing but a wrestler and tha’s the problem. He will always go to the take down and hammer fist dudes in the head. I am afraid there is not a HW out there that can take to many of those shots to compete with Brock. Its for that reason I don’t like Brock and his fighting style…but I can’t fault him for it because it works.
I would love to see Mir survive the hammer fists again and pop a nother heel hook on him then see Randy beat Mir for the belt befor retiring…again.

Very “insiteful” indeed! Brock’s a good guy..the belt hasn’t gotten to his head..his knows he’s got more to learn and I’m feeling he will be unstoppable in the next 3 years..

hey guys, a little off topic, read the sherdog top 10 P4P list. It seems pretty accurate to me.
1. Anderson Silva
2. GSP
3. Fedor
4.Miguel Torres
5. BJ Penn
6. Rashad Evans
7. Quinton Jackson
8. Mike Thomas Brown
9. Forrest Griffin
10. Thiago Alves
I’m not sure Forrest would be on my list, but the list as a whole is very accurate!
by kevin on Apr 14, 2009 11:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would also have included Lyoto over Forrest or Rampage at this time
by scott on Apr 14, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah Kev i saw that. Feel like i am dogging on Forrest all the time but there is no f-ing way he is top 10 P4P.
Hendo, Aoki, Machida, Shields to name but a few.
He has 2 big wins, one of which was a razor thin desision and the other was over a terribly out of shape Shogun. Then you sprinkle in 3 recent(ish) losses…
Not good enough for top 10 p4p.

(decision sp) knew i should have listened at school!!
by Nick J on Apr 14, 2009 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Now I would not drop Forrest that bad.Aoki would get dropped for the beating he just took by Sakara.Shields to me is just over rated,he has the worst striking,he did not even look that good on Bully Beatdown.I can agree with you on Hendo.
by scott on Apr 14, 2009 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I didn’t see bully beat down, and even Shields realizes his status. When I talked to him last fri. I specifically asked him when he would be in the UFC, and that calling out GSP and not signing is kinda pointless! He said he’s fighting Lawler so not to get into a lawsuit with strikeforce and understands that he keeps calling out a guy he can’t currently fight. He said it is absolutely a fight he wants and will be signing with the UFC after this fight. I don’t think he can beat GSP, his striking has to improve big time, and he’s not that big!
by kevin on Apr 14, 2009 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
But my only problem with Hendo is that he fights at 205 sometimes, and would he beat Forrest, his last fight at 205 he barely beat Franklin,I personally feel that the finger in the eye saved him,and before that was his loss to Rampage, and Forrest holds a victory of Rampage.
by scott on Apr 14, 2009 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Forrest has no business on a top 20 p4p list! let’s face it he is one of the biggest 205 pounders out there and he just ain’t cutting it.. he’s never had a decisive win over a top fighter and the Shogun fight isn’t worth mentioning since Shogun was limited by his physique and fought like he was barely a top 50 LHW that night.. also talent isn’t always gonna do it! BJ in talent is one of the top fighters, but there are so many other factors that makes these P4P lists pretty irrelevant, there is noway that BJ is that good, he’ll lose to Kenny and Diego just wait and see..
Andrei Arlovski is a huge talent and way more talented than a Forrest Griffin btw
by RoB on Apr 14, 2009 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Forrest’s gift is that he never stops training and he wins fights in the by outworking his opponents, in pure talent he’s nowhere near this list..
by RoB on Apr 14, 2009 12:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rob, what are you smoking? BJ lost (got destroyed) by a much bigger GSP! He has had controversial decision losses with much bigger fighters. NO ONE can touch him at LW! Sad thing is, BJ is one of my favorites, and so are Diego and Kenny! Kenny has no chance at beating BJ, Diego on the other hand has a good shot! He’s a much bigger LW, but he couldn’t finish Joe Stevenson, could he? I don’t see anyone but BJ beating BJ at LW!
by kevin on Apr 14, 2009 12:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Scott holding victories over someone doesn’t mean your automatically above them in the rankings otherwise Matt Serra would be no2!
Yeah Aoki took a hammering recently but that was moving up a weight fighting a bigger man (see BJ Penn). The point of P4P is if they all were the same size who has the best skill set and i’d argue a blown up Aoki has more ability than Forrest.
Sheilds is on a massive streak, all be it not at absolute top level competition but he hasn’t lost in a long time and that brings with it some weight.
Hendo is just a stud who is always worth a mention in P4P. Machida should be in there full stop.
I am not really banging the drum for any of these fighters more just voicing my concern that Forrest should not be in there.
After all he is what 4-3 in recent years coming off a loss fighting in a weightclass where he is bigger than everyone else.
by Nick J on Apr 14, 2009 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kev, I think Kenny has a better chance than most are giving him…he might lose but it’ll be close imo…P4P rankings, lose Forest, drop everyone under Torres down one spot and inset Machida before BJ and I’m happy ;)
P.S Cool Pics Kev!!! When was that and where?

Nick J, great post! that summed up P4P in a simple nutshell everyone can understand!
McArthur, (jokingly) did you not see the pic of the shamrock/diaz banner? It was the weigh in on friday. Sat first row, it was great!

scott, the eye poke was in the last 45 seconds of the fight, how did that save him?
by Phil on Apr 14, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m smoking that sh*T.. no, actually i’m not.. I don’t see anyone beating BJ in talent at LW, but i do see guys outoworking him and beating him by using their physique to break him down, when has BJ ever came back to win a fight he is losing?
by RoB on Apr 14, 2009 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
just for the record, i see Kenny beating BJ!
you better remember that, cause it’s gonna happen!
by RoB on Apr 14, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nick I can agree with you on some of your points,on Aoki,he was not just beat he was destroyed in less than 45 sec.To me that has to drop him .BJ was beat, but he was not destroyed.I am not saying that beating someone puts them up at the top,to your point about Serra, remember GSP has avenged that loss, but I agree that Matt Serra could never grace the list for best p4p fighter. On Shields, yes he has won alot of fights, not against top level fighters like you said, but a person should also pass an eye test.Alot of Fedor’s opponents have been questionable, but he is clearly dominate over them.Where Shields clearly has a major chink in his armor,Robbie Lawler will expose that and destroy him,If he beats Lawler,I would consider him.

bob sapp could not escape a Fedor armbar so no one can.
by hatteras on Apr 14, 2009 1:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Phil ,Rich was dominating Hendo in the third and was starting to land some really hard shots,Hendo started to look tired .The stoppage due to the eye poke gave Hendo time to recover and stopped the onlaught.Hendo was clearly ahead on the score card I will not argue that point, but the poke almost seemed intentional.

I don’t think Bob Sapp has ever competed against Fedor. You thinking of Nog fighting Sapp or maybe Fedor and Randleman?

Brock Lesnar is a good guy! Confident, but down to Earth as well. He trains hard and he intelligent. Anybody can lose on any given day! But, we’re not gonna see him do it very often! And keep in mind, he’s only at the beginning of this whole “MMA” thing! It’s gonna be sick to watch how much this guy improves over the next few years! I’ll be watching, that’s for sure!
by Dana's a CrossDresser on Apr 14, 2009 10:54 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs

Who gives Mir a chance this time around? I remember the first fight, I was at Hooters surrounded by guys in WWE shirts. When Mir subbed him, I stood up and was all drunk screaming “This is for real” haha. I think half the restaurant wanted to fight me. That was a great moment though.
I would love to see Mir take it to him again and his standup looked really good against Nog, but I think Lesnar is going to do some real damage this time around.
Thoughts?
by Cut the Blue Wire on Apr 14, 2009 11:44 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I give Mir a great chance. Once it hits the ground, Mir is the better fighter. Brock will want to keep it standing. If Mir gets caught, it’s over, but that being said, Brock could probably knock out a horse!

maybes hes just trying to reinforce the particular brand of MMA (the UFC). or he can be a meathead wrestler with freakish strength.
by bump on Apr 14, 2009 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
UFC is more thn MMA Adam, wrestling and boxing are other forms of fighting used in the UFC. Bottom line is the UFC is the best combatants regardless of your style or if you will Ultimate Fighter.

I know, mma is mixed martial arts IE boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, bjj as well as others. what exactly are you talking about puck head?
by kevin on Apr 14, 2009 3:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Martial arts is not boxing or wrestling or just a straight up street fighting style FYI.
by Puck Head on Apr 14, 2009 7:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And some fighters that don’t use the martial arts would prefer to be called a “fighter”.
by Puck Head on Apr 14, 2009 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
But the sport is called Mixed Martial Arts, not UFC
by scott on Apr 14, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes I realize MMA is used to describe the UFC, but some would prefer to leave the martial arts out of their fighing style. Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions.

I second that(Mir getting destroyed)! four fights in MMA and he is already on top of the HW ladder. How good is he going to be when he has ten fights under his belt? There is no fighter that could do what he has in this short of time in their career.

I saw Brock at the Arnold Expo last month in Columbus. I didn’t get to talk to him but he did cut threw a line of people in front of me. Brock looked like he didn’t want to be there. It was over crowded though. I think fame is just not his thing.

honestly i dont think he took steroids, i think he took HGH. he graduated from highschool at 6’0 230 lb. now he is 6’3 1/2 285lb. imo he doesnt look roided up. i dont think its all natural though. not the least bit, i think he prob. took HGH when he was younger and he prob. did some experimenting when he was in wwe, but look at him now compared to when he was in wwe hes nowhere near defined, prob b.c he isnt taking anything.
just my thoughts, i could be wrong but thats what i think
by Phil on Apr 14, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I can totally see youre point with the HGH, its possible. HGH is very touch to test for, and it wasnt brought into the limelight until very recently. He could very have been using. As for his definition in WWE and now. From what i know, the wrestlers may or may not be taking roids, but i’ve heard interviews, they all take their protein shakes and other supplements and just lift weights in their down time, no cardio. With Brock he’s do a lot more cardio then lifting weights. That could explain the definition loss. But either way Brock’s a monster and going to knock out Mir.
by greg on Apr 14, 2009 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Considering he was caught with growth hormone when in the WWE I think it’s safe to say he has at the very least at some point used PED’s(performance enhancing drugs).
