UFC Quick Quote: Brock Lesnar doesn't really want to talk about fighting Fedor Emelianenko

"I have nothing against Fedor [Emelianenko]. He’s a great fighter. Would I ever fight him some day? Absolutely I would. I keep getting this question: ‘You don’t like Fedor?’ No, I don’t have anything against the guy. There’s just nothing to talk about until there’s a fight between him and I, and he signs with this organization. Then we can talk."

-- UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar shares his thoughts on a possible showdown with WAMMA Heavyweight Champion -- and perhaps the best fighter in the division on the planet -- Fedor Emelianenko in the second installment of his interview with "Inside MMA" on HDNet. It’s a dream match up that will likely never become reality at least in the near term. Unless, of course, UFC officials expedite the construction of that stadium in Russia. For now, we will have to "settle" for "Lesnar vs. Mir 2" on July 11 and the return of "The Last Emperor" sometime in summer 2009 against a yet to be announced opponent. Ho-hum.

I think brock has a shot, but Fedor would probably overwhelm him quickly…very quickly!

WAR FEDOR!

This fight wouldnt even be close! I could care less if this fight ever happens.

War Fedor!

i mean shoot he right.. why even bring brock and fedor up now unitl he beats the man who gave him his first loss. i say brock is gonna beat mir and then him and shane carwin are gonna rumble!

by mikeybear on Apr 13, 2009 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Definitely Brock vs. Carwin for his next fight.

by TRAVO on Apr 13, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agreed i got carwin by ktfo. lesnar doesnt like to get hit as proved in the randy fight and if randy can cut him carwin will tear him to shreds

WAR CARWIN!!!!

by Jared on Apr 13, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So then winner of Brock vs Carwin gets the title shot against Mir??

by UFC Champ on Apr 13, 2009 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol, I was thinking the same thing champ, but once he’s 0-2, he won’t want to fight mir again

by kevin on Apr 13, 2009 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

so you should like getting hit?.. he won’t lay down for anyone.. WAR Lesnar!! Carwin is a loser

by RoB on Apr 13, 2009 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no ive looked past mir as i think lesnar will steamroll him

by Jared on Apr 13, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“UFCchamp”, you had said “So then winner of Brock vs Carwin gets the title shot against Mir??”

Were you kidding?

If not, sorry for my comment.

Lesnar is fighting Mir at UFC 101. Right now Carwin is the top contender, so chances are that he will fight the winner of Mir/Lesnar, but that has not even been close be being a done deal.

by ViolentMike on Apr 13, 2009 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

how the hell is carwin number1 contender? i would rather see nog vs randy be number1 contender or challenging carwin for the spot.. no way a win over gonzaga gives him number1 contender status.. it wasn’t that impressive of a win either he was getting owned and landed ham to the chin…

but saying fedor would dominate brock is insane, i see a gsp vs bj style beating where strength and athletisism take out the skill

by randy murders on Apr 13, 2009 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think the GSP vs BJ analogy is a good one because BJ has always struggled against bigger fighters, and Fedor has been crushing them his whole career.

by Diceman on Apr 13, 2009 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

really? BJ struggles against bigger fighters? He took Machida to a decision, giving up 40 pounds, beat matt hughes when Hughes was the best in the world, took GSp to a controversial decision…that’s struggling..taking fighters that are bigger and known for finishing to decisions or winning?

by kevin on Apr 13, 2009 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

the machida fight was also controversial, he beat sean sherk who was a big powerful guy for 155, and fedor hasn’t fought someone of brocks size and strength combined with his speed, it’s always been 1 or the other

by randy murders on Apr 13, 2009 1:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think the issue is athleticism here, Fedor is my all time fave fighter but Brock would be the first guy that has not just the size but athletic ability to not get pounded on the ground by fedor and he also has the guerrilla like head to take a punch. In the past when Fedor has fought BIG strikers Fedor has always been much faster than them and that wouldn’t be the case here as well. I for one think it would be a great match and could go either way.

by Edgecrusher71 on May 1, 2009 11:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John while I agree 100% that Fedor would kill Brock it wouldn’t even be close but i cant say I could less…I mean if they fought in Dec, I would be pretty excited…

by Robert(1) on Apr 13, 2009 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. I also agree that Fedor would put a beating on Brock, but I am not so sure that will still be the case 1-2 years from now.

by naturalshadow on Apr 13, 2009 12:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good point. Brock is still an infant in his MMA career. Give him a couple years, and I think he beats Fedor.

by LJ on Apr 13, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Haha… this is hilarious.

Even though absolutely nothing newsworthy has occured here, Mania is savvy enough to realize that by combining the words “Lesnar” and “Fedor” into one pointless blurb, over one hundred responses will ensue… at least 90% of which will end with the ever-profound mantra: “War Fedor”.

Funny stuff.

by Jeremyjackson on Apr 13, 2009 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

very funny. I saw this quote last week, and even though I send useless stuff to mania all the time, this one never even crossed my mind to send…that’s how pointless this topic is. At this point, Fedor woud kill Brock, 12-18 months from now, no one may be able to stop him. that said, war mir!!!

cmon brock run thru frank murr

by bump on Apr 13, 2009 10:36 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I actually think that its quite amazing that Mir is as much of an underdog as he is in the rematch with Lesar. If he is still at +190 once the fight gets closer, I will have some money on him for sure. 2 to 1 on Mir who will have plenty of opportunity to sub Lesnar unless Lesnar wants to stand and trade. Sure Brock got more power, but Mir has been training striking MUCH longer.

by ViolentMike on Apr 13, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i kinda see mir as the favorite to be honest, i like brock and think he’s the truth but mir already caught him once it might end up like amir vs cb HAHAHA

by randy murders on Apr 13, 2009 12:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

true true brock better be working on his sub defense

by bump on Apr 13, 2009 2:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Mir’s stand up has looked pretty damn good as of late, but something tells me he’s thinking about grabbing one of those legs again and submitting him. I’d personally like to see him choke Lesnar out but I don’t know if that’s possible given the size of his head, neck, shoulders, etc.

by greggo on Apr 13, 2009 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

when it comes to fedor vs brock, i get a flash of sylvia vs fedor, i think it would go down like that, or like the randelman fight, or maybe brock would go for the flying knee and droped like andre, just so many options, i don’t see fedor going to the ground with him, basicly i don’t see brock ever being subed by an armbar, or choke.

by Blazy J on Apr 13, 2009 10:38 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dana might be an asshole bet he’s not an idiot. Investing ANYTHING in Russia or Ukraine would mean instant theft, graft, and loss. Best wait until Fedor gets greedy and wants the big money over here to sign him.

by TJ on Apr 13, 2009 10:39 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good luck on that front, Fedor wil never lured by money or Dana’s facist attitude. He will go back and fight in Japan if Affliction folds.

by bigmcmac on Apr 13, 2009 12:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

When Affliction folds is more like it.

by naturalshadow on Apr 13, 2009 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fascist? What in the world are you talking about? Please explain to me how Dana White has a “fascist attitude”.

by RealDrew on Apr 13, 2009 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fascism : forbids and suppress all criticism and opposition to the establishment ie UFC. Sound like the UFC’s current President, I think so. Look I watch all the events, I just don’t like the President and his antics.

by bigmcmac on Apr 13, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no i’m on the same page bigmcmac! he gets in the way all the time, like why is he even on the ultimate fighter show? I’m tired of seeing his face, and hear him say the same crap over n over again

by RoB on Apr 13, 2009 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ugh…
Here we go again with the complete misunderstanding of CAPITALISM.
Fascism implies that one has no choice in the matter. The fan has a choice, the fighters have a choice and the advertisers have a choice.
If the ufc is “the establishment” then it is directed to be so by the freemarket.
I wish Fedor the best and love to watch him fight, but wether we like it or not, or agree with them or not Dana has his reasons, and Fedor has his reasons. Everybody’s a big boy in this.

Furthermore, if the “oppressed fan” living under the fascist dictator(Dana), longs for regime change, then all he or she must do is stop watching and hope others do the same. (good luck wih that)

I am obviously party to this great “oppression” because I just spent $1300 on tickets to UFC 100 BABY!

by Jrandolph on Apr 13, 2009 11:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You would think being in Russia for all those years Fedor would indeed be lured in by Dana’s Fascist ways lol ;-p

No kidding Brock has nothing to say. He’s scared shitless, plus he won’t be the champ after July 11th – so there’s absolutely nothing to talk about.

by UFC Champ on Apr 13, 2009 10:47 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think Brock is right to say what he said,I get so tired of fighters from other org.calling out fighters when they know there is not a possibility of them fighting each other.

by daz on Apr 13, 2009 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I doubt Brock is scared of Fedor. I think he is smart enough to know that now isn’t the right time for him to step in the cage w/ him, but I highly doubt he is scared. Mir is going to get destroyed on July 11th. Him and Thiago Alves can share a hosiptal room together!

by LJ on Apr 13, 2009 2:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fedor would win any fight against Brock, though I think Lesnar could certainly make it entertaining with his size and strength. I think Lesnar needs to be tested a few more times before being considered as a legitimate threat for Fedor, he’s too unexperienced right now and should certainly have a few more fights under his belt.

I still think Carwin would KO Lesnar, and that is the fight I want to see more than a Fedor vs. Lesnar match-up.

by Belisarius on Apr 13, 2009 10:52 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

So bored of this conversation. Seriously, I think the media are just brainless mongoloids. The fight IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. And probably never will. Therefore its irrelevent.

That being said I think its a bad matchup anyway, I think at this stage in Brocks career, Fedor would overwhelm him within a round. Brock/Mir, Brock/Carwin, Brock/Valesquez are much more fun prospects.

I was thinking the same thing. Lesnar’s nuts must be like bb’s with all the juice he’s been on for years. Soon he’ll be like Arnold and need a penile prosthesis.

by Smarg on Apr 13, 2009 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOL, I know. I like how he says that he “never tested positive for steroids” instead of saying he never took them. It is pretty obvious that he was on roids at least during his WWE run. He’s got a major case of bitch tits to prove it.

I think Fedor could eventually fight in the UFC and give Brock another year traing some jits and Fedor would be in trouble as far as Mir and Lesner go I am predicting Mir will be going night night in the 2nd round by KTFO

by Ralphie on Apr 13, 2009 12:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Mirr is the real champ right now I could care less what Brock says.

Randy walked around for over a year saying he doesnt hold the belt and laughing about how people were still calling him the UFC champ.

Mirr beat Lesnar, dumb people want to call it luck. Smart people call it BJJ.

The guy who thinks James Irvin could beat Fedor should just shoot himself now.

Shane Carwin deserves a shot more than Randy or NOG they are both coming off losses. Carwin on the other hand is on an 11 fight KO winning streak.

Blah Blah Blah who gives a sh^t unless it’s actually going to happen or at least a potential to happen. Fact is Fedor has not fought the #2, 3, 4 or five rated HW in a long time. AA was the most skilled HW Fedor has faced since NOG and trust me AA would not be rated in the top 3 in UFC alone. i have much more respect for a fighter fighting the best fighters possible than I do for a fighter who should be fighting the best. But then again I can’t blame the guy he can step in the ring against the worst Hw in the world and still get paid the big bucks and some the wanna be hardcore fans think he proved something. Cro Cop just beat fedors 3rd last opponent after surgery, Is he rated in your wanna be top five HW now? If Cro Cop never entered the UFC he would be rated by you dumb arses as the #2 or 3# top HW. Don’t even try and say you wouldn’t. The fact is all Fedor has to do is sign a 3 to 4 fight contract with the UFC and prove he’s the best by fighting in the most watched MMA ring in the world the UFC then you can talk. Fact is 20 years from now the UFC will have a history of champions with who evers name on it and the organizations like Affliction will not be around, were will Fedor’s name go down in history as the champion of Pride? That’s the only belt he has had worth talking about? That’s just my opinion but by the MMA fan’s that actually pay to watch there’s a lot more that agree. Bring it on wanna be’s lol!!

Carwin vs. Brock!! Know that’s a fight worth talking about after Brock destroy’s Mir. A Mir Carwin fight would be good to but Carwin is the only potential fighter that has the strength and KO power to compete with Brock. Carwin is like the Rampage of HW any one of his punches can put you to sleep the question would be could he keep the fight in a stand up or will Brock control him on the ground? Sounds like a End of the year fight!?

For the people saying Carwin should fight Brock next if Brock beats Mir? what has Carwin done to warrant a title shot, beat Gonzaga? Just because Broc kand Carwin are both huge, does not mean he gets the next title shot. If thats the case, then why not let Velasuez geta title shot if he bets Herring? I say Let Velasquez and Carwin fight and the winner gets Brock next!

by Adam on Apr 13, 2009 4:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That would be a great fight to, but who should have the next title shot if not carwin maybe Kongo? what makes Brock such a threat with only four fight under his belt is his size, strength, wrestling ability and endurance combination is lethal. he’s 285 pounds and is faster than most HW at any weight, great wrestler and to top it off he has the endurance to go five rounds. If he was 40 pounds lighter(245) he would be with Cain and Carwin right now. Carwin is a big strong boy not as big or strong as Brock but enough to not get bullied around the ring combined with his lethal KO power he is a dangerous fighter for anyone to face. Fact that no fighter has lasted past the first round with him not enough to deserve a shot?

by Puck Head on Apr 13, 2009 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

kongo vs Carwin should get the winner of Brock vs Mir ,
fedor would IMO knock brock out at this point , give brock 2 years maybe a different story and as 4 this crap about Brock doesnt like getting hit ???? WHO DOES ?? randy cut him .. so what ?

Could you imagine how hard the Brock bashers would be all over Lesnar’s nuts if everything else about him was the same, except he never wrestled for the WWF?

An amatuer wrestling legend with freakish size, strength and agility who beat Heath Herring, KO’d Randy Couture and brutalized Frank Mir before getting caught by a more experienced fighter, all in his first 4 fights….they’d all be hailing him as the next Fedor.

But because he spent a few years ‘fake wrestling’, he’ll never get the credit or respect he deserves.

TFK

You make a good point… but it’s also his fake wrestling background that got him into the UFC and secured a title shot so early… so it’s a double-edged sword.
