WTF? He says he tore his MCL and PCL by going from half guard to side control? How the hell do you do that? And he says his knee usually pops when he does that, but this time, it felt more loose…

Sounds like he had a trick knee and it finally gave way

He might still be able to lay n pray on people. Harder to get the takedown now though.

Think about it: The first round of that fight was not boring or bad. Bader got solid takedowns and worked for submissions and ground and pound from the top. He showed some great speed in his sub attempts.
The second round and on was your basic lay ‘n pray snooze fest. That all happened after he blew out his knee. If it wasn’t for that knee injury he would have probably finished the fight in exciting fashion.
Give the guy a break. He completely destroyed his knee and was still able to win the fight. That’s not too bad.
None of his fights prior to this one were lay n’ pray victories so i don’t think that this will be a trend.

good synopsis DDT, but this was only the second fight I ever fell asleep during (lindland 1st affliction being the other). He’s pretty boring and not very good…it’s a prerequisite for fighting out of arizona combat sports! lol

I agree DDT…he looked great in the 1st round and he really took the fight to Marello. The fact that he suffered that type of injury and won the fight says a lot about his heart and determination. I doubt many of us could have fought like that. It wasn’t a pretty win by any means and had he not had the injury and won the fight in the same fashion then I’d be disappointed.
I predict good things from Bader…he’s following in the footsteps of Rashad and has a similar pedigree and skill set yet not as advanced. I’d like to see him get out of that camp though…I just don’t see a lot of solid fighters with solid all around skill sets coming out of there.

Exactly DDT, I think this guy has a high pain tolerance and tremendous Will to Win! Anyone that talks shit about a guy that finished a fight with a Blown out knee, ‘not to mention WIN’ is/was never a competitive athlete.

Man this is F’d up! why the F are all these injuries happening?! Not just here, but also in other sports. Like the NBA for example. Man there are a ton of injuries! I remember when I was a kid that the NBA had virtually no inuries, or rather, injuries were really minimal. But now, man!
I wonder what these MMA fighters do to train. I know they’re pushing themselves during training. But don’t they know that it’s not good to push yourself to the point of tearing ACLs and MCLs? MAn this is sick. Hope the injury bug doesn’t bite anyone participating in main/co-main events. That would really suck!

His knee is not as bad as I thought I mean the mcl and pcl are not the primary ligaments so he will heal pretty fast. Now if he torn his acl then that some bad news, but nthing serious
by dominicanmma on Apr 9, 2009 9:37 AM EDT reply actions
the MCL is no big deal they usually tear when you tear your ACL or PCL. tearing the the PCL is exactly opposite of tearing the ACL and just as crucial. he won’t be fighting for a year.
