UFC 100 to feature three 'superfights' in Las Vegas on July 11

UFC 100, which is slated for the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 11, is now official with three "superfights," including two major title match ups.
The promotion today made the announcement that we all knew was coming for the historic pay-per-view (PPV) event, signaling a major milestone in its more than 15 years of existence.
In the main event of the evening, UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will tangle with the division's interim title keeper, Frank Mir, to determine once and for all an undisputed champion. In addition, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre will once again defend his 170-pound strap against number one contender, Thiago Alves.
Rounding out the superfight trio is a a middleweight brawl between The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) TUF 9 coaches, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping, who will collide to determine who earns the right to challenge the reigning middleweight champion later in 2009.
Tickets for UFC 100 are set to go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. PT. Of course, UFC Fight Club members and UFC Newsletter subscribers will be able to scoop of tickets for the Centennial prior to them being available for public consumption.

I thought UFC 95? back on december 26 was better on paper, but this is an excellent card for sure. I thought maybe UFC 100 would have one more big fight on it to give us something to remember but no complaints of where it’s currently at.

Ufc 95 with diego vs jo daddy headlining , better on paper than this event. Please buddy put the bottle down this is an intervention. The main fight on that card would be the 5th best fight on this card.

Holy crap! Could you imagine Michael Bisbing beating Anderson Silva?! I would never dream it. But Rashad has taught me to believe the impossible. I’ve got to start giving the Count more respect.

Start giving bisping more respect when he earns it. beating hendo will be a good start.. but right now he hasnt done anything to make me believe he has legit shot against silva.
Marqaurdt, maia, hendo, akiyama…. IMO would all tool bisping

Ditto! Give respect where respect is due. For now, all I’ve got for Bisping is disrespect! But I like what he’s been doin’ lately though.

Good points. Maybe I should have said I should stop doubting him. I never gave Rashad any credit until he dropped Liddell. And I still don’t particularly like Rashad or Bisbing. But even though Bisbing hasn’t beaten any marquee fighters, I still think he deserves a level of respect for making it as far as he has. I see both fighters as being just as good as they have to be to win and getting better with every fight. Rashad goes to decision with Tito and later drops Liddel. Bisbing goes to decision with Hammil and we’ll see what happens with Hendo… Let me be clear, I am not a Bisbing fan. I just don’t want to be sitting there with that stupid look on my face if Bisbing actually does catch Anderson like Evans caught Chuck.

Yeah your right!2 titles fights and 9 or 10 good fights card is something that we’ve seen before. But what whould be a great event is,if they put at least 3 more fights on the live PPV portion (1 more hour of footage)so we get to see Fitch /Thiago,Bonnar/coleman,Kim/Goulet fights and maybe even all the fights,if fights are finish quick enough.I put the fitch fight in there because some thinks its gonna be the Jon jones/O’Brien fight that will be on the main card insted.

That’d be sweet. Give the fans a little bonus for symbolic event.

Brock is only -270. I expected a little more.

do you remember by any chance what he was in the first fight?
by brendan on Apr 9, 2009 12:41 AM EDT up reply actions
We better not be asked to endure Jake O’ Brien on a “historic” card in main card. If Jon Jones does what he needs to do (which is why they may put it there) it will find its way on to the PPV.
I hope they come to their senses and show Fitch’s fight. Bonnar-Coleman would be a better option also.

I think the card actually looks sick so far. All those fights are bangers… will pay to see this.

if A.silva gets out of next fight unhurt, they should put him on this card.185 or 205 either one would be good.
by Bass on Apr 9, 2009 4:58 AM EDT reply actions
Providing Anderson Silva beats Leites then they might put Silva on the card too, Anderson Silva vs Damian Maia, that’d make it 4 great fights for UFC 100.

Being it is the 100th I think a name or 2 from the past should be on this card. And so far it looks like a good card but not great.

Actually I think Lesnar was a featherweight. Yeah. I’m almost 115 lbs. and I was thinking of moving up to take the title from Brock.
