anyone going to the weigh ins? I’m thinking about it!

This event lost a lot of its luster after Thompson got hurt. The main event is going to be a war as well as Radach and Smith but the rest of the card isn’t exactly top quality. I’d take a Sengoku card over this. Maybe I was just expecting more for the first EliteXC/Strikeforce card. I’m really looking forward to the next Strikeforce event…that’ll be fireworks.

I got Damm beating Melendez. Though a melendez UD is more likely, i think there’s a big potential for upset since Melendez really doesn’t pack any serious power. Good bet parlay or stand alone IMO.

Dude Rodgers wasn’t grabbing the hair…it was getting caught in his grip. It would have ended sooner if they didn’t stop it for that 3 times.

Akano is small and may be the fugliest fighter of all times. I realize Cyborg was WAY over weight but Akano is tiny.

Yea, How can you not like Scott Smith. Awsome fight!! There was a headline earlier that said dont be supprised if the Smith/Radach fight steals the show. I was like Jared, I knew (or at least was hoping) smith would pull it out. The guy has a chin like a Mutha.

did that commentator guy really say elbows are illegal in mma and follow it up with Diaz’s boxing is at a pro level? come on have a damn clue!
by pug on Apr 12, 2009 12:21 AM EDT reply actions
Elbow strikes are NOT legal in strikeforce. Pretty much every where else though. But the comment about Diaz’s boxing being pro (boxing) level was a complete JOKE. He stood there with his hands in the air.
by jk358 on Apr 12, 2009 12:25 AM EDT up reply actions
I thought they said no elbows to a grounded fighter, but okay if standing.Idk?

they did say that. It seems strange to me but I guess everyone feels like they have differentiate themselves.

Strikeforce must be pissed that Diaz won since that was his last fight on his contract and he has expressed a desire to either fight in the UFC or go to Japan (since he likes fighting in the ring). The Smith fight was entertaining, but all the rest were mismatches.
by Muscle Dolphin on Apr 12, 2009 12:22 AM EDT reply actions
oh well thats good for all of us mma fans. we get to see diaz free to do what he wants which gets me excited as he can make a ufc comeback or go back to the land of the rising sun :D
