Get Ovreem into the UFC and have him fight Kongo. Awesome stand up match

Remy looked awful in this fight.
Then he showboated afterwards like he had just dominated the match.
If he was fighting for K-1’s honor, he should have been the bigger man and went over and congratulated him on a great fight, instead of sticking his tongue out and bringing over the oscar from the pre-fight press conference (see hyping a fight) and overall looking like a douche.
I’ve always been a Remy fan, but I’ve never seen him act like this much of a douchebag and I wonder why he did it?
Winning a fight in your sport against someone who has only fought 3 times in K-1 and is a traditional MMA fighter, when you have won the Grand Prix 3 times and are more or less the best fighter in K-1 at the moment, you should have more class than that and be the bigger man and shake his hand, tell him you respect him and make yourself look like a true champion, instead of a pissy little kid who let the pre-fight theatrics get into his head.
All in all, a win for Remy, a loss for K-1.

give it up! he called Remy out before the fight and as long as they’re in the spotlights the show’s still on! they are both from Holland and Remy just had some fun, don’t be so bitter, this is not about some silly respect “homo show” which means nothing.. they all respect eachother anyway, i’m sure they shaked hands afterwards in the dressing rooms..

I would have to agree with Rob, as long as a fighter doesnt do anything to shed a bad light on the sport. For example: i have a problem with what Babalu did against Heath. I too believe that Remmy and Alistar were just having fun. No reason to micro-analyze every single act done by a fighter….Just enjoy the show man!

well said DirtyML, if he made alistair look like a bitch the whole time than hell tease him all you want, but after a performance like that i agree he shouldve just shook his hand

I hate Remy.. He´s always been a douche and a good actor. Just look at the Sapp fight and Hari fight. By the the way Overeem won round one and two.

sorry, but there are no points for takedowns in K-1

Wait… am I to understand that Remy WON that fight I just watched? Overeem was throwing beautiful crisp combinations and basically making Remy look like a chump. And the knockdown in the end of the third wins Remy the match? What about Overeem’s knockdown in the 2nd?
Maybe I don’t understand K-1 Rules… but it just don’t make no sense!
I hope Remy knows that he got tooled by a better opponent.

Im with you here.
going from what I understand of K1 rules that should have been a draw and if I was forced to give it to someone it would have been Overeem
Stupid

the first two rounds was scored as a draw by all three judges, and the last one was a 10-8 for Bonjasky. 30-28 all over the board! Alistair fought a dirty fight and should have warned multiple times..

I am a big fan of Overeem but I actually agree with the way the fight was scored.
Rob is right! Alistar fought a dirty fight. I dont get why people think that Alistar deserved to win? You dont get points for just throwing your opponent to the ground!

I’ll deffer to you guy’s wisdom, I know next to nothing about K1, if it wasn’t for the comentators I would not have known that some blows were illegal.
..but if they met in a dark alley…Id go with overeem..lol
by Confused on Mar 29, 2009 10:09 AM EDT up reply actions
I guess I’m gonna have to defer to you guys as well. I thought as long as it wasn’t a grappling shoot or takedown that those throws were legal. But, I’m not too familiar with K-1. But, I just don’t understand how an active, agressive Overeem gets scored 10-10 in round two and 8-10 in round three. Shouldn’t Remy have been scored as an 8 for the legitimate knockdown in round 2?
Whatever, I don’t even know why I’m getting worked up about this. I rarely watch K-1. But, it seems like Bonjavsky plays the victim a lot. True, Badr did hit him illegally. But, Overeem seemed to be there wanting Bonjavsky to give him his best shot. And aside from the one punch in round three… it just didn’t happen.

they didn’t score Overeem’s push like jab that caught Remy off balance as a knockdown..
by RoB on Mar 29, 2009 2:26 PM EDT up reply actions
I think not scoring Overeems push jab was the right call. it was basically a slip…If you guys have the hdnet channel, then you guys should really start watching K-1. I promise you that you guys will really start to enjoy it!

Remy was verry lucky with his last punch.
But it’s alistair his own fold, he should concentrate all rounds, including last one.
You have to be carerfull with Remy, just needs one chance.

i watched the entire K-1 event and i just don’t get it. these guys barely look like they’re fighting, most strikes seem to be thrown with half power, not to mention the judges seemed drunk. all this hype has always surrounded K-1 and man I just don’t get it.

this fight sucked…
two heavy weights throwing slow sloppy strikes

The judging for this fight was questionable. They ruled the knockdowns of Bonjasky not as actual knockdowns because he was on one foot kinda of crap. Sometimes K-1 judging can be just as aweful as MMA (Griffin-Guida and Hamill-Bisping still haunt). The Le Banner fight was questionable as well in terms of the judging and needing so many extra rounds. Overeem-Bonjasky should have went an extra round.
by Belisarius on Mar 29, 2009 9:53 AM EDT reply actions
I’ve rewatched the fight several times, and I don’t understand why it wasn’t considered a knockdown when Alistair knocked Bonjasky down at the end of round two. And how the first two rounds could be considered a tie when Alistair clearly dominated, “dirty” or not.
I’ve been a K1 fan and a Bonjasky fan for many years, and I’m not an Alistair fan. But it seems that “defending K1” from the big bad mma guys means highly prejudiced scoring.
