By far, the worst month for MMA news as far back as I can remember…..

Report: Gegard Mousasi to 205 pounds for DREAM.9 bout with Sokoudjou
by McArthur on Mar 27, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions
McArthur you better be right on this! I was bitching a few days ago about how Mousasi hasn’t fought in a while. If this fight materializes, it will be all Gegard. He will beat the SHIT outta Soko. Soko is nothing. He needs to be fighting guys with a similar record/exp as himself. There is NO reason a 5-4 guy needs to be fighting a 24-2, or a 31-7 (Babalu).
Mousasi will PWN him!! Soko will get finished in the 2nd

I wrote 3 posts this morning, that I spent a lot of time working on. I didnt post any news (since this site hates on it), I didnt curse, I didnt bash fighters, I didnt insult anyone, and I kept it relevant to the thread….6 hours later, and its still not posted! WTF?
by john on Mar 27, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions
John, who hates on fight announcements?? Gimme names…keep it up man…Cause I will continue to do it but you get the news faster than me….who cares what people say on the internet seriously…fu*k ’em!!!
by McArthur on Mar 27, 2009 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions
its not you guys McArthur…Its mania. He wont let me post anything anymore. Its like the only news that counts is the news that they post…I am so sick of posting fight announcements and them not showing up on this site…
U want to get my fight announcements…sign up on facebook. Im going to start posting them there for people who care. There is nothing worse than spending time researching and writing up posts that NEVER show up!
THats why I have been trying to keep my posts relative to the thread, if not mania wont even post it anymore. COMMUNISM IS DEAD!
by john on Mar 27, 2009 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions
whambulance: The imaginary rescue vehicle that will rescue mania from john’s incessant whining over a trivial matter. Used mockingly, but in good humor.
I’ll bet that great “fight announcement” between Soku and Mousasi that you “researched” doesn’t happen when you say it’s gonna happen. Name your price.
by MMAmania on Mar 27, 2009 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions
john what do i type in to get you on facebook cause your always the main man for news, and you give us news like a day or more before mania posts it
by Jared on Mar 27, 2009 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions
lol that wasnt me mania….It was McArthur who posted that! i just re-posted the rumor for synyster under a different thread cause he has a man crush on MOusassi!
Last time you taunted me over my fight announcements not happening…was when I told you, and the ENTIRE INTERNET that Randy was coming back to the UFC to fight Brock….remember how u laughed at me and taunted me then? About a week after you laughed at me about the Brock news, it was all over the net…but then you got all quite and stopped talking to me about it, and just went on Quietly and created a thread about it !
Humble pie? How did it taste? lol…just breaking them Mania…u my dude, just wish you wouldnt stop me from posting MMA RELATED NEWS/RUMORS!!! I dont know about everyone else, but sometimes a juicy rumor is just as good as news…especially on a slow news day…If you wont let me post news, its cool….your site, but if you aren’t going to put my news posts up on the site….then stop posting other peoples…
by john on Mar 28, 2009 10:06 AM EDT up reply actions
Jared: John giampaolo…send me a friend invite with a message attached reminding me that you are a fellow mma crack-head like myself
by john on Mar 28, 2009 10:08 AM EDT up reply actions
ok mania…you gonna take shots at me, then be fair and post my rebuttal! hahaha
I had nothing to do with the MOusassi/soko fight announcements…I just reposted it for Synyster…I dont actually think it will happen either, especially in DREAM, and not until Soko gets a win or 2 under his belt.
I just read up on the situation, and Soko’s management knows nothing of the fight right now, and they actually said that they want to rebuild Soko’s career, and that they probably wouldnt take this fight even if offered. Translation: Soko needs to fight a can or 2 first!
by john on Mar 28, 2009 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions
btw mr Mania….when you see me post: *FIGHT ANNOUNCEMENTS* thats when you know its probably not a rumor and likely to happen!
I would love to be able to go through your archives and look up the percentage of times that I posted: *Fight announcement* and it turned out to be true….If I had to guess, I would say around 80%

2 weeks ago for Spring Break I was in Upstate Vermont, Montreal, and Toronto. It was actually pretty nice, and I’m from Florida. Guess I caught Canada on a good weekend.

all of you guys should move to san diego, ca!!! no hurricanes, no cold weather, no humididty… were getting away with murder out here let me tell you

except that your state is bankrupt and is infested with ridiculous amounts of hippies :) other than that i would love to be in san diego.
by newkoba on Mar 27, 2009 9:29 AM EDT up reply actions
is it like that episode in south park ‘night of the living homeless’.
by ruan-fiy on Mar 27, 2009 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions
The hippies live in Northern Cali for the most part.
California is a failure of epic preportions. California’s economy has been amongst the ten largest in the world for many years. The GDP of California is greater then countries like Canada, Spain and Italy and yet they have a deficit of $42 billion.
But at least they have great weather.

Damn.. this whole time i was under the impression that it was welters and middles.. I could have sworn it was. Oh well no big deal.
by charr552 on Mar 27, 2009 2:10 AM EDT reply actions
It was, but on one of Dana’s Ireland blogs they showed him falling in love with a couple of the smaller Brits at the tryouts. A few days later, it became WWs and LWs. Coincidence or not, who knows…
by Rich B on Mar 27, 2009 2:48 AM EDT up reply actions
It was, but they changed it cos there was a lot more talent in the lightweights than middles apparently.
by BritishBulldog on Mar 27, 2009 7:48 AM EDT up reply actions
sucks to have been a middlewieght that made the trials.. you try so hard and they say yeah you got in, then call you back and say nevermind everyone else sucks. lol
by Synyster on Mar 27, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions
Good stuff. I got a hunch this season might pull the biggest ratings of all the seasons. Could be wrong, but a hunch nonetheless.
by Clint on Mar 27, 2009 2:14 AM EDT reply actions
Lol maybe because they are having two countries interested in this season? Brits are like yeah we finally get to prove we are better than the Americans all while the Russians and the Asians wait their turn in line for the Brits to lose and their shot at the Americans. Whooo country wars!
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Mar 27, 2009 8:37 AM EDT up reply actions
Why did they subtitle that one British fighter, I understood everything he was saying (and no, I’m not a Brit). I don’t know if I’ll watch this season, the past few have been pretty lousy compared to the first few. I hope the next one they do is also nation vs nation, kinda like the M-1 challenge, only with 100% more frat boy antics and the constant cursing of Dana White (he could give the South Park movie a run for its money).

The only thing I’m rooting for is good fights.
I think the UK team is going to win in both weight classes… but then this is MMA and anything can happen.
by JonnyBoy on Mar 27, 2009 3:25 AM EDT reply actions
Is it considered a leak if the network that’s showing it hosts the video?
It’s like those damn Mtv “sneak previews” that just show the entire episode of whatever.
by RaginAsian on Mar 27, 2009 3:30 AM EDT reply actions
It’s sad that they even let this show air, particularly because they chose poor USA fighters to make the UK fighters look like they were on an equal level.
Had they chosen the cream of the crop for USA fighters, this wouldnt even be a show it would be a massacre.
Anything for ratings I suppose.

is gary kelly related to paul kelly, the gut that beat troy mandeloriz & lost to marcus davis?
by paolo on Mar 27, 2009 6:13 AM EDT reply actions
This concept doesn’t make much sense to me…MMA is about fighters vs fighters not country…
That’s like me saying I can’t wait to watch Chuck vs Shogun becuase it’s U.S vs Brazil? Although Anderson is bugging me lately how he is always stating he roots for the Brazil fighters to win meanwhile he is famous and rich due the U.S…show a little respect…..
by Robert(1) on Mar 27, 2009 8:18 AM EDT reply actions
That’s silly why would he not cheer for the brazilian fighters? Has it ever occurred to u that maybe he owes the US nothing? He has a lot to do with this sport taken off like it did,and he owes america nothing but his best effort every time he fights. Although the money and exposure wouldn’t be as great. He would still be rich and famous If he never came to US. If u we’re a fighter and we’re fighting In Brazil I bet u would cheer for American fighters. And anyoneb that had a prob with that is wrong.
by mr guillotine on Mar 27, 2009 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions
That’s my point….. I wouldn’t care and be disrespectful towards China if I was fighting there and saying I’m from the U.S and want all the U.S fighters to win..I wouldn’t care…it’s just rude! He is in this country making money, fighting for a U.S company he does owe them some respect….coming from an Anderson fan.
by Robert(1) on Mar 27, 2009 9:27 AM EDT up reply actions
I see your point Rob, but as long as he roots for Wanderlei Silva, then I’m ok with that.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 27, 2009 10:07 AM EDT up reply actions
Rob1: The state of mind of a country differs. The way Americans/Brazilians/Brit’s/Russians/etc look at things in regards to sports combat or not is different. I’m not American or Brazilan an American/Brazilian..with dual citizenship.
I understand here Anderson is coming from as he expresses that the title is for Brazil.. and he is Brazilian National.. before he is the UFC MW Champion. Sports in Brazil.. and Sports & sports athletes are iconic in their postion in Brazil. Helio Gracie, Pele, Ronaldo, Anderson Silva and so on. I lived in Brazil during my life time and I understand the Brazilian Culture as I understand the American one. I don’t except for most to understand on this side of the pond.. how other side works.
It’s intresting to me.. that I’m more likely to always root for a Brazilian fighter.. but the are some that I do not root for.. in depending who the opponent is.
by PhilQNY on Mar 27, 2009 10:19 AM EDT up reply actions
Well, the other point I think Rob is making here is, it isn’t Brazil that made him Rich, its America, so in a way I see that point of view.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 27, 2009 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions
I’ve heard Anderson talk respectfully about the U.S. I don’t think it’s disrespectful for Anderson to favor his own nation over the U.S., regardless of where he makes his money.
Now if Anderson were talking badly about the U.S. and still making money from a U.S. business, I’d have a problem with that.
Phil, I also find myself pulling for the Brazilian fighters most of the time.
by RealDrew on Mar 27, 2009 12:15 PM EDT up reply actions
I just pull for the fighter who embodies the true spirit of MMA.
I don’t care for all that nationalistic garbage.
I am just weird that way.
by OJR on Mar 27, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions
he made himself rich in america, not america made him rich.whats the big deal if he supports his fellow national atlethes,i dont ever hear him sayin something like’I hope so snd so loses cos he’s american’.cut the dude some slack.
by bons on Mar 27, 2009 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t really have a problem with it. Although, I don’t care where a fighter is from either.
I do think A SIlva shows proper respect for other fighters though. He has shown a great deal of respect for Franklin and the UFC IMO, and still does.
That said, I will get into the whole USA vs BRIT deal as well. It’ll be fun, but a the end of the day (as always) I’ll end up liking and loathing guys from both teams.
by Jrandolph on Mar 27, 2009 12:58 PM EDT up reply actions
this concept stuff sucks D. The perfect show – 1 Fighter from each country. 10 to 20 different countries. It would definitely bring more superstars than this usually predictable show.

by El Philicutioner on Mar 27, 2009 10:33 AM EDT reply actions
With a 2-1-1 record, you can tell it wasn’t being Bisping’s training partner that got him on the show, it was his greatly developed MMA pedigree.
Please start choosing better fighters that have risen through the ranks on their own accolades, not just sparring partners of existing UFC standouts.

dont need the subtitles…i find it insulting they are on there. then again im canadian, so british colony, and am comfortable with the accent…
