8. Story vs Sell,
9. Mike Pierce vs Cummo,

I’m sick of Okami fighting gatekeepers. Give this guy a title shot, or put him against someone to where if he beat them, then he would get a title shot.
by Brandon on Mar 25, 2009 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions
Preferably someone who would beat him BEFORE a title shot so we don’t have to be bored to tears by this guy in a main event… someone like Maia or Marquardt.
by Jeremyjackson on Mar 25, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions
Word man. I say give him a hard test, and if he loses, fine, but if he keeps winning we gotta give him a title shot!
by Brandon on Mar 25, 2009 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions
agreed, match him up with maia/marquardt and if he can get by either of those guys there is no denying him any longer
by brendan on Mar 26, 2009 12:54 AM EDT up reply actions
yeah~ they should give okami a chance to fight a top fighter!!
i too am sick of the ufc not giving okami a good fight..
he is never going to get a title shot if he doesnt fight a top name..
give him franklin!… oh wait?
hey okami did have a chance at a big name fighter~ that if he had won? ~ he would have got a title shot.
nontheless~ i see okami getting the next crack at andy silva~

i say that if they arent going to give him a fair shake at the competition that he deserves, just put him up against someone he actually has a chance at losing to, like Marquardt or Maia, so that the UFC can cut him after a loss. There is really no point in keeping a top fighter, to pay him good money and waste his, and all the fans time with fights against Din Lister (CAN that knows Jits)!!! lol
by john on Mar 26, 2009 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t think so. Okami sucks a$$! He ain’t worthy of gettin’ atitle shot. We all saw how The Spider knocked hin the F out. It’s gonna be the same result below. It’s just gonna be a wasted match for Anderson. Let’s preserve him for better match ups.

they should have okami vs maia, winner gets a title shot

not bad but 2 of those fights are already happening in montreal where i will be saweeeettt go iceman
by TAY on Mar 25, 2009 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions
I am rooting big time for the Iceman, and I think he will win quite decisively. When Wandy fought Chuck, that was the only time I wanted Wand to lose. Wand is a great fighter, and seems to be an extremely nice guy. That gym is pretty tight as well.

Woooohooo, pretty cold in here! ICE BEAM!! Arctic attack!!

Mostly good match ups. I heard Tap Out was here (Portland area) for Tyson Jeffries. It is happening on April something at the casino. I bet that was the last show for mask. (Of course the the entire show didn’t happen)

Way off topic, but whatever. Roger Goodell wants to extend the football season!!! Maybe to 17 or 18 games. The owners will vote on it in may. It wouldnt be until the 2011 season or around there. This makes my day!!!
by BOW on Mar 26, 2009 9:33 AM EDT up reply actions
I was referring to FedorvsLesnors match ups. He mentioned Jeffries fighting in Portland. Tapout was working on a show for him.

Man I’m sorry but I think this guy overtrains :(
6 month training camp?
In my opinion, Wanderlei trains his strength and conditioning too much, whereas if I were him I would focus on my sparring and technique.
I’m not a fan of his standup recently. Windmill punches and non-existant footwork. I dont think right hook left hook right hook left hook right hook left hook right hook left hook right hook left hook is a good combination!
Hopefully a drop in weight classes will allow him to remain more competitive!
by Brandon on Mar 25, 2009 10:02 PM EDT reply actions
Totally agree with you Brandon! Nice post!
by Sofa-King-Toasty on Mar 25, 2009 11:00 PM EDT up reply actions
I agree i think you’re right on! dropping weight won’t change his technique either, he needs to train defense and tecnique cause Rampage absolutely exposed Wanderlei’s combo he knew what was coming and made him pay!
by RoB on Mar 25, 2009 11:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Overtraining is an epidemic in MMA right now. Sometimes less is more, especially in the two weeks leading up to the fight.

Hahaha! Nice observation there! That made me laugh!

Did the host say “Franklin coming off a slightly controversial loss”?? Must be a Franklin fan just like the one judge who gave that fight 30-27 Franklin!
They need a host that knows what He/She is talking about.
by jodubs1 on Mar 25, 2009 10:40 PM EDT reply actions
What are you talking about, it was definitely a contoversial loss. It obviously wasn’t 30-27 Franklin but I think he did enough in the final round to at least earn a draw. Hendo did nothing but lay on him for the first two rounds, unless you’re scoring the eye poke.
by Jeremyjackson on Mar 25, 2009 10:53 PM EDT up reply actions
close = yes ~ but no controversy~
hendo won the first two rounds 10/9 and frank won the 3rd 10/9
hendo wins! i score it 29/28.
if franklin wanted to win the fight he should have fought the same way in the 1st and 2nd as he did in the 3rd[get it]
i bet on franklin and think in a rematch?~ he would win!
but he definitely lost the fight..
by stinky~fingers on Mar 26, 2009 7:13 AM EDT up reply actions
maybe the second round was just laying on franklin but the first round hendo rocked franklin right away and hit him with some mean ground and pound. third round was easily franklins. but thats it. 29/28 hendo
by Jared on Mar 26, 2009 7:48 AM EDT up reply actions
Why does Franklin “need” to win this fight? He’s consistently winning, better winning percentage than the Axe Murderer.
by Sofa-King-Toasty on Mar 25, 2009 10:59 PM EDT reply actions
because if he loses its obvious that he can’t compete with the top tier guys… silva twice, henderson, now wanderlei? it would really be bad for him if he lost this fight
by brendan on Mar 26, 2009 12:57 AM EDT up reply actions
sucks to see either franklin or wanderlei lose in their upcoming fight, like em both and wish rich could just fight another 205 guy and wanderlei fight at 185, they both need a win
by ben on Mar 25, 2009 10:59 PM EDT reply actions
Wanderlei’s 5-year-old son is already training muay Thai… maybe in 15 years we’ll be watching him windmill bombs into a whole new generation of victim’s faces!
by Jeremyjackson on Mar 25, 2009 11:59 PM EDT reply actions
5 isn’t super young. My son is in wrestling at 3 and in MMA at 4. Just as long as they love it let them do it. Some say that is wrong. If he enjoys doing these activities then it isn’t too young. I started young and so will my sons.

I hate this Rich vs Wandy match up. I really like both fighters and I don’t want to see either dude lose, but Wandy needs the win more. So fuck it WAR wandy

The more I get to know Wanderlei, the more I like him.
I am not going to say he is the best, because he isn’t. But, surely, is one of the nicest and most professional athletes in MMA. His dedication to the sport is top notch, right up there with Randy Couture and so on. He doesn’t just take, but also gives; trains other fighters, actually teaches classes and so on.
I also love the fact that he seems like a really cool dad.
by Aman on Mar 26, 2009 3:01 AM EDT reply actions
Franklin needs to go back to teaching, preferably in the inner city.
by TJ on Mar 26, 2009 5:42 AM EDT reply actions
Wand is a true warrior, you just have to look at his face to see that… Every fighter hits a point in their career where the best is behind them and they should consider hanging up their gloves, Matt Hughes will hopefully do it after the Serra fight and hopefully Wanderlei will do it if he loses to Rich. He’s lost 4 of his last 5 fights which as sad as I am to say it should force a top fighter to consider retirement. He’s got his gym and his clothing business to keep him busy and should be successful if he applies the same dedication that he does to training and fighting.

I totally agree with you. I’ve been a Wanderlei fan for quite some time. I really like him. I think there are very people who are as dedicated to the sport of MMA as Wanderlei is. I put Wanderlei right up there with Randy Couturem, when it comes to being a very good ambassador of the sport.
by Aman on Mar 26, 2009 8:38 AM EDT up reply actions
Love Wand he’s a nice guy and one of the most exciting fighers of all time. I don’t understand what happend to his muay-thai though. In all of his UFC fights he never clinches anymore. I also would like to see him work on more combo’s to compliment his hooks. Like mix some upper-cuts and straight punches in there.
by natedogg77 on Mar 26, 2009 2:07 PM EDT reply actions
Tough fight for Rich. Seems to me Dana white kinda threw him under the bus with this fight. Goodluck
by truestory on Mar 26, 2009 2:35 PM EDT reply actions
You could probably say the same for Wanderlei.
