David 'The Crow' Loiseau: The UFC is my home

Props: Versus.com

Quoteworthy:

"I really feel like (the UFC) is my home. I always had faith [that I would return]. I don’t know how it’s going to be, you know, things change. Of course, there is going to be a lot of Canadian fans in attendance, so I am going to have the home turf advantage, for sure. Maybe they will [remember me], maybe they won’t. But if they don’t, they will see something even better. So, no matter what they remember, they’ll be happy with what they see on the 18th. That’s a given. For now, all I see is Ed Herman, and I am very focused."

Former UFC middleweight contender David Loiseau prepares for his return to the Octagon on April 18 when he faces The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 finalist Ed Herman at UFC 97 from The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. "The Crow," who trains with welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Patrick Cote, among others, will make his first appearance inside the Octagon since a unanimous decision loss to Mike Swick at UFC 63 in September 2006. Welcome back.

i wanted to see him on the main card! At least to open up the event. Herman is gonna get his @ss kicked!
Maybe a quick KO so that we can see him added to the PPV for KO of the night.

THE CROW is BACK!!

I wish they would give him an entry-level fight first. Ed Herman isn’t entry-level IMO. Not that I don’t think The Crow can win, it’s just he has a draw with real MMA fans so I’d like to see him built up again.

Anyway, maybe I’m starting to question the way things go in the UFC. This a little off topic, but In general, it’s like climb climb climb up the ladder and if you loose three people start shouting retire. Of course, I’m sure that’s what the fighters want, but IMO, If they loose two in a row drop them lower on the ladder and let them get a few in the win column before taking on contedors again. It seems like good business to me. For example instead of having chuck retire if he were to get KO’d by Shogun (not going to happen) have him fight some guys who are 1 and 0 in the UFC. He would still draw and be making money. And his record would be improved. I like seeing the best vs the best, but I hate to see a guy loose a few to the very top guys in the world and feel forced to retire.

Yeah i like your thinking. A bit like with Wand fighting Rich.

I think they should have given him a Jason Mcdonald or Jason Lambert or someone.

I don’t want it to turn into boxing where people go on 20 fight win streaks but don’t see anything wrong with them building a star back up.

Its almost like the UFC has become a victim of its own success. Back in the day when they had less big names a fighter would be fed a couple to build them back up after a loss.

Randy vs MVA for example.

by Nick J on Mar 25, 2009 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Lambert would have been fine, though i think he was released by the UFC. Mcdonald would be a horrible choice, as the Crow’s ground game isnt anywhere near elite, where Mcdonald is nasty there. Mcdonald would probably take out the crow more often then not.

I was talking about them fighting Wanderlei.

UUUUuuummmm, I’m pretty sure Canadian fans are going to remember the Crow.

I saw him live a couple years back and he put on a great show. I hope he dominates Herman.

He will for sure do that, The Crow is back!

Ed “I will be gone shortly” Herman is going to get his face caved in via the elbow.

by FukStyck on Mar 25, 2009 11:05 AM EDT reply actions

Loiseau didnt impressive me much his first run in the ufc. yea he finished some nice fights but against the upper echeon he mentally crumbled. should be a good fite though. standing the advantage goes to loiseau, on the ground it goes to herman.

by Holdin McGroin on Mar 25, 2009 11:20 AM EDT reply actions

He sliced Evan Tanners face up, then went 5 rounds w/ a better fighter in Franklin. He mentally crumbled against Swick.

and then became a mental wreck for well over a year and couldn’t win a fight to save his mother and his dogs lives.

I am very excited to see the Crow back in UFC action. I’d love to see him send the Ginger home permanently via 30-40 brutal, slicing elbows from the top in round 2. And I’d also like to see another spinning back-kick, like the one that made Tupperware poop his pants. Go Crow!

by GodDamnMike on Mar 25, 2009 11:23 AM EDT reply actions

LOL!! Nice post. The most brutal elbows in all of MMA are officially back in the UFC! I hope he can string together some wins.

by LJ on Mar 25, 2009 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions

To be real.. as always.. There is something about him that is suspect.. When he was in the UFC.. had some impressive wins..had a war with Rich.. then he is ghost.. when he re emerges..I’m not sure if it was StrikeForceor EliteXC.. but he had a fight against a Greg Jackson Guy.. Vila something.. my brain is in freeze.. I;m sure someone here will know what I’m talking about. He got tooled.. like he was white belt in BJJ.. no ground and pound.. and couldnt stuff one talkedown.. I really have not seen an more fights of his.. but after seeing that b rated figher display.. I question.. who is this guy?? Now he fighting someone at UFC97 that most around these parts do not like.. but stylisticlly.. Herman is a huge threat for David.. if Herman gets him on his back.. he will be in trouble.. now if David gets Herman on his back.. granted those elbows are dangerous.. but see it more leaning towards Herman then to Daivd.. outside of home field advantege.. which won’t help him once the cage door locks.

Phil-

Truth.

by OJR on Mar 25, 2009 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I see what you’re saying Phil. I’m not convinced that The Crow can be a contender, but he is an exciting fighter to watch on an under card.

by LJ on Mar 25, 2009 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly the crow will be an exciting addition but he wont make any noise in the division.

THE CROW is back and short fuse Herman is in for a short night The Crow by TKO strikes 1st or 2nd round….

by Cory on Mar 25, 2009 11:37 AM EDT reply actions

He’s a beast. Herman’s going to get ripped to bits by the crow’s elbows!!

by MrAngry on Mar 25, 2009 11:43 AM EDT reply actions

Great to see the crow back in the octagon! Best elbows in the game! Great return match for him. I can’t see red doing anything that the crow hasnt seen before. I’m calling for a ref stoppage in the 2nd by devastating skull crushing elbows!

by BOW on Mar 25, 2009 11:51 AM EDT reply actions

The guy has the tools to pound Herman into dust. But this can only be done if he put the right focus and the right training to do it. If not, he will gaz out.

by Daddy Lupo on Mar 25, 2009 1:24 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t know what to expect from the Crow. I love his stand-up, but his ground game is crap, and his head doesn’t always seem in the game. I hope he kicks Herman’s ass and gets on the main card for his next fight.

by Jeremyjackson on Mar 25, 2009 1:42 PM EDT reply actions

Ditto. Can’t wait to see it. I love the Crow, so glad he’s back!

by justagirl on Mar 25, 2009 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions

I have seen his last few fights and was surprised how far his wrestling and takedown defense have come. the crow has added some good tools to his game. It also appears he has adjusted the mental aspect and cardio. Time will tell, GO CROW.
