Murilo 'Ninja' Rua anticipates DREAM debut on April 5

Quoteworthy:
"I fight April 5 in Japan and I’m doing my final preparations here. I’m going to Curitiba Saturday and I’ll be back in training Monday. I’m going to fight at DREAM against a Korean."
-Murilo Rua, former PRIDE and EliteXC star (and brother of UFC light heavyweight Mauricio Rua), prepares for his return to Japan on April 5 at DREAM 8 after Strikeforce reportedly opted to pass on his acquired EliteXC contract. "Ninja" (16-9-1) hasn't competed since a TKO loss to Benji Radach at "Heat" last October for the now-defunct organization.

Off topic:
Can someone with steriod knowlege tell me if the testing would detect if a fighter had taken steroids and cycled off for several weeks? I’m wondering if guys can get away with doing like an 8-week cycle when they have several months between fights. I know the UFC is doing random testing now, but I guess I wsa thinking with a guys like Hua who look like they could stand to get in better shape, why not cycle and get big (probably going over your weight limit) then cycle off before a fight?

In DREAM, I’d like to Ninja vs Jacare or Galesic. Other than that, pfft.

im not sure if Jacre and Ninja would fight! Many Brazilians dont like to fight each other especially when they have trained with each other in the past. I know that Jacre was training with Wanderlei…now he has been training with THales….Not sure what his relationship is with Ninja…but that could be an obstacle on making that match up!

damn I’ll have to third that; cause the blondes rack in the background got my attention right away.
But, I am glad to see that Ninja is still at it, but damn he just hasn’t looked the same since his pride days. His fights with Dan Henderson and Mario Sperry were classics, and I feel bad for the guy, cause he was robbed on so many decisions. Ninja has caught some tough breaks in his carreer, if you think about it, had the Henderson decision and the Rampage decision gone his way; it would have made his carreer.

great point odamn! NOwadays, NInja doesnt have the same gas tank that made his striking so effective…He still has some of the best jits in mma, so he always has a shot! I will always be a big NInja fan. His fight against Mario Sperry was one of my favs. of all time

if you want to check him out watch him vs matsui or shoji in pride. he absolutely beat the fuck out of matsui. matsui vs ninja is one of the best fights ever in japan.

ninja was my favorite fighter at one point. his seemingly endless gastank and aggression in pride was awesome until he moved up weight. now hes a b level guy trying to tread water.

i thought it was really stupid that he went up to heavyweight to fight sergei. he had a huge gut and got ktfo by sergei. ever since than all the fights ive watched he hasnt been the same

yeah, that Sergei fight absolutely ruined him! He was effective against Rampage but got robbed in a decision that even Rampage admitted.
I dont understand why Ninja fell off so quick…haters will say cause he is off roids now, but Ninja’s decline actually started while he was still in pride, so even a hater cant say that.
Probably fell off chasing Japanese chicks..he was a notorious pimp in pride before he got married! I will never forget when they asked him what music he likes, and in his terrible english accent he replied.. “Lionel Ritchie” lmao…what a freaking PIMP!!!
I could see him bumping “all night long” while he catches bitches in Naked triangle chokes!…I heard he was such a pimp that he used to bang girls from the Tai Clinch position! hahahahahaha
