Dana White: 'Nobody gives a [BLEEP] about Affliction MMA'

Props: FiveOuncesOfPain.com

Quoteworthy:

"How do I feel about them trying to counter-program UFC 100?. I love it. I fucking love it. I love it. I don’t like these guys and I want to see them spend more of their t-shirt money. What they should be worrying about is — they’ve already seen first hand that nobody gives a shit about Affliction MMA — what they need to starting worrying about is nobody wants to wear their goofy fucking clothes anymore either. The fad is over and they better start saving as much of that t-shirt money as they can."

UFC President Dana White is unimpressed with Affliction MMA's possible plan to stage its third event on cable television on the same day as the UFC 100 pay-per-view (PPV) on July 11. Affliction has yet to formally announce the date of its third show at this time. Tick tock ...

DAMN! You may or may not like Dana White, but he sure knows how to put a verbal smack-down on these dudes. I’d say the only one on his smack-down level is Jim Rome.

by RedDog on Mar 23, 2009 5:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

this is just silly! No way Affliction dares to share a date with UFC 100…its just not going to happen! This is just talk to piss Dana off! It cant happen, and I pray that it doesnt. If they are crazy enough to share a date with UFC 100….it will be on free TV, and that would severely water down afflictions 3rd card. Without ppv’s, there is no way in hell that they can book Fedor vs. Barnett, and thats a fight that has needed to happen for years.

Only way I can see them putting their event on free TV, is if Barnett is secretly ducking Fedor again.

It will be interesting to see the final numbers if Affliction 3 does do the counter programming to UFC….

P.S.

It’s called the exception to the rule.

I know functioning pot heads too, that smoke a j every morning and hold down top jobs, but I know a lot more line cooks and Mcdonalds employees who ‘smoke weed everyday’.

Why would you put ‘smoke weed everyday’ as a sig in your post on an mma blog?

Snoop doesn’t always know what’s best for you dawg.

No doubt. Everytime I see Dennis Rodman these day, he’s wearing an Affliction shirt. I’m 36 so I gues I never got the whole fad anyway.
As much as I love MMA, the stereotype “dude” that goes to these events are pretty funny. If they are nor wearing an Affliction or Tapout shirt, this is what you get.

Dude #1:
-Dark designer jeans with looping pattern on the pockets, pointed brown shoes
-Long sleeve pin striped shirt (untucked with sleeves folded back onece), and fohawk.

Dude #2:
-Tightly worn faded designer “lookalike” jeans with built in torn cuffs
-Dayglo spray on tan, tattoo on neck so as to be visible regardless of what he is wearing
-Super tight child sized polo shirt with the collar popped,
-Wide belt (usually white sometimes even pink) with skull buckle, and fohawk.

Dude #3:
See Joe Rogan

By the way, don’t get your pantys all in a wad. I’m just having some fun.
Full disclosure statement: I own 2 Tapout shirts (no fohawk)

affliction may not (in fact, it won’t) succeed long-term, ut it will succedd in taking money off zuffa and it will take PPV money away from ufc 100. i have no problem with dana white, the ufc, etc as some people on here do, but his reaction sounds like he is pissed off more than anything. if nobody gave a shit about affliction, he wouldn’t have commented on them.

by cmw1000 on Mar 22, 2009 11:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

take what away from zuffa? they make so much profit each show it still doesnt matter

by JG on Mar 23, 2009 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What MMA will watch Affliction even if it’s for free over UFC 100? If Affliction put’s it on TV most mma fans will just record it and watch it after the UFC PPV, I just can’t see to many sponsors paying for commercial time when they know there commercials will be fast forwarded.

by Beaver on Mar 23, 2009 12:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even if Affliction does offer it for free, it will be on HD-Net, and hardly anyone has HD-Net. If Affliction 3 was able to take more than 50 ppv buys from UFC 100, I would be shocked. haha

by naturalshadow on Mar 23, 2009 1:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He was asked a question. He didn’t just comment on Affliction because he was pissed. He has no reason to be pissed at this point, he knows (like everybody else it seems) that the writing is on the wall for Affliction.

by OutlawTruth on Mar 23, 2009 1:43 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I never liked their “goofy f**cking clothes” either! I think this will only accelerate the demise of affliction.

by blackBEERd on Mar 23, 2009 12:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It’s a good thing their is Affliction !!! Why do the idiots hate them so. Affliction does have Fedor , I think Dana is butt hurt because Fedor didnt fold to his push tacticts to sighn on the dotted line.

by cujo on Mar 23, 2009 12:15 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The problem with affliction is that it’s built on one star – Fedor. So their next show is when Fedor is ready and if they can find a worthy opponent – kinda running out of names that aren’t in the UFC.

by Tony on Mar 23, 2009 12:24 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Don’t worry Trump will get WAMMA to put some guy in the top five. Only problem for Affliction is mostt MMA fans are smart enough to see bull sh^t.

What’s that tag about jiu-jitsu being gay only if you make eye contact….

Anyways, I hope Affliction does well or at least can do more than promote Fedor in the US. I think they should make more of an effort to co-promote and develop or at least advertise fighters other than Fedor. I want to hear more about Belfort, Barnett, Babalu and so on. Its not that I don’t care about Fedor, I just already know he’s the greatest, they don’t need to tell me to watch their events, because I’ll watch to see how Fedor dismantles another former UFC champion as well as all the other fights on the card.

I get where youre coming from, once Affliction closes its doors Fedor should man up and fight in a cage, in the UFC. If he turns tail back to Japan it would be a lame cop-out.

by PanicZoo on Mar 23, 2009 7:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Interesting for him to comment about affliction. I am shocked about how he doesnt mention that no one is givin a crap about going to station casino’s in Vegas(the real cash cow of Zuffa). Those Casino’s go under and i forsee co-promotional fights, something dana has said they would never do.. Dana White is the Jon Kerry of MMA. I love me MMA, i hate me some dana white.

by javster on Mar 23, 2009 3:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The UFC is profitable on its own – doesn’t need the casino to do well. 2 seperate companies, one won’t rule the other – only shitty businessmen would make that mistake.

If Affliction were still involved business wise with the UFC, Dana would be wearing one of those very t-shirts. But, staying true to the course, Dana’s smear campaign will continue…and he’ll suck all of you ball-munchers into believing every word that comes out of his arogant mouth….again, true to course.

LOL who pissed in introverts Corn Flakes? Dana and the UFC have given us more fights than any other organization that’s all we need. to top it off they have given us the greatest match ups possible every event, they have put on a fight for the troops, we get to see more free fight than any other organization(from the free events to TUF)!! What the fuc& did you expect a free T-shirt? by the spyder on Mar 23, 2009 12:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Affliction sucks for MMA fan’s, any ex UFC champion or decent fighter it’s great with a huge payday it’s a good way to finish your career win or lose you will get paid the big bucks. Only problem is not enough fan’s want to watch a former UFC champ fight in a boxing ring and Affliction is going to fold in the next two or three events. it’s horrible for fans right now because the most watched event is UFC and many believe that the best HW is Fedor and as long as Affliction keeps going the longer we will have to wait to see Fedor in the octagon were he belongs with the most viewed MMA organization in the world. Some say Fedor might not even come to the UFC if Affliction closes but I say BS, no organization is going to pay Fedor that much for one fighter like Affliction has unless they are planning on losing money?

by Puck Head on Mar 23, 2009 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

As much as I liked the last affliction show, I wish Strikeforce could get those contracts. Strikeforce doesn’t pay people a million dollars a fight, the sell out the stadium every card and people actually watch it (a formula affliction does not follow). Vitor and little Nog would be sick pickups for them.
