UFC 99 fight card takes shape for 'The Comeback' in Germany on June 12

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been busy recently, putting the pieces in place for its first official show in Germany, which is set to take place from the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, on June 13.
In fact, the promotion has made official several bouts for UFC 99: "The Comeback" in recent days, including the welterweight match up between The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alums from different seasons, Mike Swick and Ben Saunders.
Of course, former middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin is expected to headline the pay-per-view (PPV) event opposite ex-PRIDE smashing machine Wanderlei Silva at a catchweight of 195 pounds.
It is likely that "The Axe Murderer" -- win or lose -- will likely compete at middleweight moving forward and "Ace" will return to the land of light heavyweights. Regardless, it should be fun to see how this battle between former champions unfolds on fight night.
Here is the current UFC 99 fight card:

Not the best card, but there are still some interesting fights lined up..I hope the Herring/valasquez fight gets booked!! That fight would be great..

I think I read somewhere last week that Heath Herring was injured and may have to pull out of the Cain fight. I don’t know how credible the source is, but I have heard that rumor.
Has anyone else heard this one as well????

really? that sucks!…I hope Cain is still on the card..Maybe the UFC will treat us and have Carwin take on Cain??…Probably wont happen, but I would love to see it..

i think this is a great card with great match ups on the main card and the undercard… paul taylor vs anybody is always an awesome fight… davis/hardy will be sick, and of course the main event is an awesome match up!

I like that they’re giving Uno props and not throwing him in the undercard. Should be way better than 93 IMO.

yeah i hope uno can have a successful octagon debut!

It seems like these kind of cards end up having the most entertaining fights.

I would really like to see Swick fighter some tougher competition.

Me too, but at the same time I think Saunders is fairly tough himself..I dont know, but I think this fight has potental..I dont mind the match-up…I think Ben Saunders has a bright future..

yeah i think they actually match up well with each other should be a good fight i am pulling for saunders.

Ben is going to bring it to Swick. I’d love to see Swick exit the octagon with a Loss on his record and a “Brandon Wolff” on his forhead.
This is a very even fight. Swick has the experience edge, and Saunders had the height and reach (I believe). I think that it should also be mentioned that Swick more than likely has better training partners for what its worth.

Guess Rich was screwed weather he won the Hendo fight or not.

Main card looks good with Davis-Hardy and Cain fighting again. Cain needs a win here to keep up with Carwin.
by DCRage on Mar 17, 2009 12:09 PM EDT reply actions
Yeah that should be one of the better fights on the card. Looking forward to the Davis and Hardy one as well.
by Heaton on Mar 17, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Carwin is a monster he barely touched Gonzaga and knocked his ass out Cain is just a can to any top heavyweight. As far as Franklin vs Silva Franklin will pick him apart with his superior technical striking. Lay the money down on Franklin I bet Forrest can KO Silva with his glass chin. LOL
by Cory on Mar 17, 2009 12:23 PM EDT reply actions
you do know what happens when Franklin gets in the cage with a Silva, don’t you????
by The Slovak on Mar 17, 2009 1:27 PM EDT up reply actions
i know he didnt even turn into the punch it was like he just moved his hand into gonzagas head.

The main event pretty much sums this whole card up, good but not great.. I guess i’ll go to this event anyway just to get to experience a live UFC event.. good thing for the UFC that it’s off-season for football in most parts of Europe by the summer..

I can’t miss any card that Wandy is fighting on, not that I miss any ever, but a good solid card….Cain vs Herring is solid but if not, Cain should fight someone in the top ten, Carwin was mentioned and if that’s the case it’s good by Carwin…the guy will be bust.
by Robert(1) on Mar 17, 2009 12:37 PM EDT reply actions
I have to stick to my guns, I ALWAYS buy when Wand is on, no matter what, but my goodness, drop another co-main event in there?????
Penn defending lightweight title????
Dana, you’ll get my $50 for this, but treat us to another big fight on this card.
by The Slovak on Mar 17, 2009 1:26 PM EDT reply actions
This card sucks apart from the main event, which in itself is a bit meaningless due to it being catchweight. UFC are dumping the same crappy british and european fighters that we get at every UK show I’ve ever been to, Taylor, Kelly, Davis, Etim, Siver, Hardy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. None of these clowns will get a title shot in a million years. The UFC really needs to stop making the european shows numbered UFC’s. They bare little or no resemblance to the big Vegas shows in the states. They should be rebranded as UFCEurope 1,2,3 etc and stop passing these inferior shows off as real UFC events!

Im glad the UFC and Wanderlei Silva realize that he Can’t hang with the “BIG DOGS” in the 205 division (Sugar,Dragon,Forrest,Rua,Rampage) With that being said the 185 division aint no walk in the park. I see The Spider highlight reeling him in the first round, I see Bisping winning a decision with his seperior hand speed and killer cardio, or maybe HENDO should ko him cold again another replay from PRIDE. GOOD LUCK AXE MURDERER!!!! Dana should give him an axe and maybe he could beat all these guys. LOL
by Cory on Mar 17, 2009 4:19 PM EDT reply actions
Bisping “superior hand speed”??? Superior foot speed to run away and pitter patter his opponents more like!
by attakdog on Mar 18, 2009 7:14 AM EDT up reply actions
i think youre being too critical lester… there is absolutely no way this can be a boring fight!
by brendan on Mar 17, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions
at least we dont have to see sanchez/stevenson, now that was the worst main event EVER
by brendan on Mar 17, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions
That main event was insulting. It would be lucky if that made it on to the main card of a fight night show, let alone a numbered event.
by attakdog on Mar 18, 2009 7:12 AM EDT up reply actions
thats why its called the comeback you idiot, your probably a newbie at mma and just seen their last two fights and think you know about stuff like that. Why dont you get back to playing video games you noob.
