UFC 100 confirmed for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 11

Zuffa announced today that UFC 100 is confirmed for July 11 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Heavyweights Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir are expected to finally clash in an effort to declare an undisputed division champion after Lesnar took the original title from Randy Couture at UFC 91 and Mir stopped Antonio Nogueira for the Interim title at UFC 92.
While the two brutes were expected to throw down at UFC 98, Mir went out with a knee injury that required surgery and put him on the shelf until the summer.
Georges St. Pierre is also penciled in to defend his 170-pound strap against number one contender Thiago Alves. 'Rush' flattened BJ Penn at UFC 94 to keep himself atop the heap while "Pitbull" earned his shot at the champ with seven straight wins, including TKO finishes over Matt Hughes and Karo Parisyan.
The Ultimate Fighter 9 coaches, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping, are also slated to meet and determine who earns the right to challenge the reigning middleweight champion later in 2009.
UFC 100 will be the first event at Mandalay Bay since July 2008, when Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin headlined UFC 86 in a battle for the light heavyweight title.

With two title fights and the opportunity to see Bisping get his ass kicked makes this a must see event.
Has Bonnar/Coleman been confirmed for 100?
by RealDrew on Mar 13, 2009 12:15 PM EDT reply actions
This card is going to be off the charts. Possibly the best ever. That Bonnar/Coleman fight hasn’t been confirmed yet, and I hope it doesn’t. It’s not worthy of the Holy Grail of mixed martial arts events. Replace with Jon Jones/Thiago Silva.

If Machida wins and does not get hurt, I can see a Machida/Rampage fight as well.

Shannon Gugerty vs Matt Grice and Dong Hyun Kim vs Johnathen Goulet have also been rumored for this card.

Can’t wait, I’m gonna bet AND win big money on a GSP/Lesnar parley ! And as much as I hate Bisping, for some reason I think he’s gonna take it to Dan. So I might put a litte money down on him too.
by Rashad-Marquardt-GSP-Sherk on Mar 13, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions
Ok, thought about it, still betting huge on him. Mir is a joke.
by Rashad-Marquardt-GSP-Sherk on Mar 13, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions
I’m on the fence about Bisping. I hate the guy but my unbiased opinion is that Hendo isn’t going to have his stuff ready. it’s going to be a good match but I hope Bisping doesn’t make it past the first. Lesnar isn’t going to be as stupid as he was in his first. I bet he tries to keep it standing. I hope Alves makes GSP his B!tch. I just don’t like the guy, and i know i’m in the minority on that too.
by bigbadbrad on Mar 13, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions
GSP used to be my favorite fighter, but I lost tons of respect for him. I hope Alves wins too.
by Josh H. on Mar 13, 2009 4:41 PM EDT up reply actions
I believe your Lesnar bet is a good one. I was at 81, and Mir was getting absolutely destroyed before Mazzagati stole the fight from him. I can’t get a feel for the Bisping/Hendo fight though. I’ll stay away from that one. As far as Alves/St.Pierre, I’ll leave that one alone too. Alves is on a tear, and GSP’s head might not be right after all the controversy. I don’t think the crowd will be behind him this time. Add Belcher to your parlay, we all know what happens when guys from overseas with alot of hype fight in the UFC for the first time.He may even be an underdog.
by Josh H. on Mar 13, 2009 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions
Just checked the line on the Bisping fight. He’s a huge, huge underdog. I think this is a 50/50 fight, so I will bet heavily on Bisping. He can easily win a decision.

Can’t fu*king wait for this card. My B-day is on the 12th. What a weekend… I think I will ask my wife for that chick above for my present. :)

if that works let me know how you worded that to her for my own future reference

If you consider getting smacked a success then here is how I like to approach it. “Jesus-fu*king-Christ, did you see that chick?”
by BNF on Mar 13, 2009 1:58 PM EDT up reply actions
I think “that girl” is Rachelle Leah. Rather appropriate for her to make a guest appearance @ UFC 100 wouldn’t you say?
by DJ on Mar 13, 2009 2:51 PM EDT up reply actions
Good eye… I believe you are correct sir. I know some of these hot little celebrities like the UFC. How about a guest celebrity ring girl? Megan Fox? Or Adriana Lima for the brazilans? What say you?

I heard GSP is getting shot out of a cannon in this event.

You know Alan Belcher catches alot of heat from alot of people but I really dont think he is all that bad! I loved it when his split kalib’s head open! Then kalib was in his corner crying saying the dr could see his scull ! boo hoo

but horny for mma that card sounds solid. id replace bonnar vs coleman for velesquez vs dos santos

Marquardt vs. Maia is awesome and logical, but that means the Spider doesn’t fight for another 6-7 months assuming he beats Leites. Unless he fights Okami first???

wow, i’m looking forward to every one of those fights…amazing

Yeah Im going. I never been to a ufc but shit its ufc 100..The cards not the best and living in az makes it a quick drive. I like the the fact that they have ufcs so close to me. I better take advantage of it.
by AK47 on Mar 13, 2009 1:12 PM EDT reply actions
LOL John’s biggest fan…He’s probably here under a different name. I forgot how hot rachelle was, nice to see her again, I wish she was still the ring girl as IMO she was the best looking, the new tall one is cute too, can’t remember her name.
Brock vs Mir-tough call I think brock takes this one but I’m not really a bid fan of either of these guys.
gsp vs alves-another tough call should be a very tough fight for either of these guys, they both dominated kos in a three round decision and both stopped hughes within 2 rounds. Both are likeable guys and aren’t trash talkers so if either guy wins I won’t be too disappointed.
hendo vs bisping-still tough call, I know most don’t think much of bisping but he still took the light heavy weight champ to a split decision which means a lot to me, I hope hendo wins as I like him more, bisping has a big mouth.
Looks to be a very interesting card, probably the one I’m looking forward to seeing the most so far this year. :P

John… I don’t post here much.. but I think its silly that people hatin you even if they dislike what you post or disagree with your personality. This is a mma site and we shouldn’t make personal attacks. Its good to see loyal cats on here who know what they are saying and even contribute to the site with new info and headline news..F*&^ them clowns who don’t like you… Its not really about them..its not really about you.. its about this MMA movement!!! thats my word
by fistoffury on Mar 13, 2009 2:43 PM EDT reply actions
Henderson by TKO.
Bisbing certainly isn’t going to crack that chin of Henderson if Franklin, Palharas and Quinton couldn’t do it.
by chris on Mar 13, 2009 3:10 PM EDT reply actions
Why do people hate on bisping so much hes a realy nice guy
by levis on Mar 13, 2009 5:26 PM EDT reply actions
Because he’s British…just kidding. I for one started hating Bisping after the Hamill fight. The horrible decision mixed with Bisping’s celebration sealed his position as a goat in my eyes.
by RealDrew on Mar 13, 2009 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions
Why bisping is such an underdog is surprising to me considering he almost beat the reigning champ rashad a close split decision. I just checked the betting lines and here they are.
Hendo -500
bisping+300 I don’t understand the logic behind this one, wouldn’t be surprised if bisping won.
st.pierre -250
alves +190 It should be closer IMO I think alves has a decent shot, but if gsp doesn’t get t(ko)ed and it goes to a decision I think the odds definitely favor cardio machine gsp.
Lesnar -270
mir + 210 again I think it should be closer but we’ll see, I think if lesnar can avoid the submission mir has no chance.
by nathan on Mar 13, 2009 9:02 PM EDT reply actions
Ya RealDrew the Hamill fight was a disgrace, Hamill clearly won IMO, something like 90% of the poll on ufc.com thought so too.
by nathan on Mar 13, 2009 9:04 PM EDT reply actions
Actually I missed the drama that happened on here with the infamous JOHN could someone please enlighten me?
by nathan on Mar 13, 2009 9:05 PM EDT reply actions
I correct myself Mir has a punchers chance, like everyone else except matt hughes, who punches like a girl. ;P

This card is definitely worth the cost of flying out to Vegas for the weekend and the price of a good seat!
