I’d like to see Carwin have one more fight against a tough opponent, but really, who else gets the next title shot at heavyweight?

How about Kongo/Carwin? Winner gets the next shot at Brock. And I said Brock cause Mir is getting run over!

Kongo has to beat Hardonk first, and Hardonk may not be an elite fighter, his standup (as Kongo’s is) is his strength. Ergo, he could very well lose, in which case I’d say Carwin pretty much is your only option. Maybe a fight against Dos Santos or something along those lines would be interesting for Carwin.

A fight with Dos Santos is going backwards though. And what I mean by that is Dos Santos only has two fights in the UFC.

Carwin only has 3 fights so its not a HUGE difference… and dont underestimate Hardonk, former K1 fighter with very dangerouds standup, in my opinion, probably hits harder than kongo, this fight is a toss up

After all, the champion has how many UFC fights??? This division is the UFC’s biggest problem.

Brendan is right. Do not underestimate Hardonk. The man can strike, and he is probably better subs then Kongo as well.
Kongo will be the favorite, but he isnt a lock. Thats for sure

I agree Natas, the boys at MMA Live do a really good job at analyzing the recent events in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
I really enjoy how they take expert opinion from the cast along with the opinions of professional fighters who come on the show or call in via phone.
I am glad that Rampage is not taking the fight at UFC 98. As Rampage hands down is my favorite MMA fighter, I am usually biased towards him. Rest up and let those nagging injuries heal man, Alot of us look forward to you fighting for the belt later this year.
Shane Carwin is a BEAST. Not only did he recover from being rocked early on, but he put Gonzaga down convincingly. He is going to be a force to be reckon with. I see him getting a 12th stoppage at his next fight.
Off topic, I can’t wait for Brian Stann to fight at UFC 97. As a fellow devil dog, I appreciate all that he did in the U.S. Marines and I look forward to him getting back in the win column. In the 1st round he is usually explosive, but I hope to see improved cardio, if and when, he gets into the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Hopefully Carwin’s next fight will be against Kongo, Dos Santos, or Cain Velasquez. I mean really who else can you put the guy up against in the Heavyweight Divison ??? He has killed everyone he has faced. But I argee give him one more fight and if he take’s care of business then its a title shot for him. And hopefully it will be Brock. Hype that fight up with the two biggest glove sized wearing lunch box hand’s going at it in the cage. I like both Brock and Carwin, but if they do fight I think Carwin would Knock Brock out

Why does no one talk about Pete Sell’s corner not throwing in the towel when their fighter clearly was hurt and not going to come back.
Yes the ref gets most of the burden but they should have thrown in the towel, no?
by scissorfight on Mar 12, 2009 11:41 PM EDT reply actions
Sell is a tough fighter, and I think he’d be pissed if his corner did that. You read post fight interviews, he thought he was fine. I agree with you though, but it’s a tough situation to handle for everyone!

Matt Brown was connecting solidly at will and then kinda shoved him over with a gentle push on his shoulder, if he thought he was ok it was the concussion talking.
When you spar with guys you know how much of a beating they can take but in this situation all the pro fighters and Dana White said they wanted to run in and stop it, if it was that obvious live his corner should have acted responsibly.
My point is STOP just blasting the refs in these situations, their human.

scissorfight, that’s a great point.. 1st time I’ve heard that.

i don’t like that he stepped in and then decided to start the fight back up again, but had he stopped the fight when he first stepped in i think there would be a lot of fans saying it was an early stoppage
by gobrowns on Mar 13, 2009 12:14 AM EDT reply actions
i agree, but if the ref pulls u off the other fighter it is supposed to be over, a TKO. he shouldn’t be the ref if he doesn’t know the rules. he had no right to pull matt brown off if he wasn’t stopping the fight. there were no illegal strikes and he definitely wasn’t stalling. lavigne needs to ask himself at the beginning of each fight if he understands the rules.

Molly Qerim is ridiculous. I’m in love (or something resembling it).
