I say Silva via Ref stoppage in the first!

Chuck has this one in the bag, make it past the first 30 seconds and Shogun will gas. And I sure hope Leites pulls this one off, get it to the ground and u’ll hear “It’s aLL OVER!!!”
by Rashad-Marquardt-GSP-Sherk on Mar 11, 2009 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions
Shogun won’t gas…he gassed against Coleman after the first rnd cause they spent the whole time grappling on the ground fighting for position which expends a ton of energy…Chuck won’t take the fight to the ground or at least that is what history shows….Shogun via KO in the 2nd
by McArthur on Mar 12, 2009 8:46 AM EDT up reply actions
I think Shogun’s knee will still be na factor in his training, and will gas eventually if the fight goes into the third. That being said, I think Chuck KO’s Shogun with relative ease. Shogun hasn’t looked good at all in any of his UFC fights, and if he couldn’t put away Coleman, then he isn’t even hurting Chuck.
by naturalshadow on Mar 12, 2009 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions
I bet you liddell/shogun fight will be a ground battle.
by CITY BOXER on Mar 12, 2009 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions
Didn’t Shogun put away Coleman in the 3rd?
by Robert(1) on Mar 12, 2009 3:19 PM EDT up reply actions
TKO, but many argued it was a bit early. Either way, you get my point.
by naturalshadow on Mar 12, 2009 6:28 PM EDT up reply actions
leites first round sub..
no idea why i would say that but everyone picks silva i go leites,
and no i have 0 facts to back this up no argument why just gonna go against everyone on this planet
by randy murders on Mar 11, 2009 11:26 PM EDT up reply actions
I’ll give you a fact.. Travis Lutter has been closest to finishing the spider in the UFC, and Leites is better than him on the ground so why not?
by RoB on Mar 11, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions
did you just say travis lutter? isn’t that guy the fat dude who got some fluke title shot and couldn’t make weight, fought a dude who had 2 knees reconstructed following the fight and still couldn’t win?
by randy murders on Mar 11, 2009 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions
Dude! I’ve been saying Leites by 2nd round Arm Triangle ever since this fight was announced. For almost the exact same reasons RM, because everyone else thinks he’ll lose, so I pick him.
Interesting though, I’ve pointed out Lutter has done the best against Silva more than anyone else in the UFC, highlighted by his near-armbar finish, and I’ve been flamed for it.
Actually, I’ve been flamed for both comments! But I’m sticking to it.
Also, Chuck will KO Shogun. Vintage Iceman is what I’ve been saying.
And since this is the first time I’ve posted since the Rampage/Jardine fight, I will say I rewatched the fight with the sound off, and with the mindset that Rampage won every round, and saw it that way. So both times my view has been skewed in some way or another, so I’m leaving that fight alone once and for all.
And Rashad to TKO Machida, or Unanimous Decision.
by Synyster on Mar 12, 2009 12:01 AM EDT up reply actions
Rampage is having surgery on his jaw, and Efrain is off the fight night card with an injury.
by ehoglund on Mar 12, 2009 12:04 AM EDT up reply actions
One more thing, its obvious that strikers cannot beat Anderson even with a ten foot pole (Leben/Franklin/Irvin), and wrestlers have tried and failed (Nate/Hendo). I think the jits guys are the ones that will give him the most trouble. Granted, we’ve only seen him against one jits guy in the UFC, but I think he’ll have the most trouble if he gets on the ground with them. Anderson doesn’t have great takedown defense, so it shouldn’t be that hard to get him down. His TDD is striking though, so that kind of covers TDD. Anyway, I think if Leites can play smart and really try to take it to the mat and get top position, he can submit Anderson. Maia would have a better chance, to pull guard and sweep to top control. These guys CANNOT be scared though, or think they can stand with the Spider for too long.
by Synyster on Mar 12, 2009 12:06 AM EDT up reply actions
yes i did say Travis Lutter.. all im saying is that he is the best BJJ guy Anderson has fought so far in the UFC and you could see he had some trouble until Lutter gassed as usual!
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 12:08 AM EDT up reply actions
maia doesn’t have the headmovement standing to get in and take down the spider.. the best way to beat silva will be by lay n pray, sure a jits guy can submit him but what happens when silva rolls the dude over and mounts? he’s vicious standing and will be worse on top.. best way to win is hendo or wandy just eat 2 or 3 and get yours hope it is a damn good one though..
i just want to go against everyone i dont actually think leites is gonna win i think he lost to marquardt even
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions
yea i agree he lost that fight! that fight made me want to piss on my tv!
by tuffguy01 on Mar 12, 2009 12:19 AM EDT up reply actions
I do not agree with you as usual randy.. he’s already fought the LnP guys.. no one is gonna be able to defeat Anderson by LnP for 5 rounds! wrestlers can not defeat him! Anderson rolling over someone that’s better than him at BJJ sounds pretty funny to me because BJJ guys still has a good chance from the bottom, wrestlers don’t..
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions
and someone better at BJJ than Anderson would never let that happen
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions
rob you never know about there cardio, and how much stronger anderson is.. hendo got tired after that first round self admittedly, he’s got the best chance at stopping silva no doubt about it
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 1:19 AM EDT up reply actions
haha you guys act like Silva isnt a LEGIT black belt. He would only lose to Leites because Silva lets himself lose. Have you seen his body triangle/reversal against Roan? (granted the fight was prolly at 170 or so) Silva has a great ground game. I dont think there is anyone in the MW or LHW that could beat silva on a day where he brings his A game. And yes i do think that he could beat rashad or rampage.
by ehoglund on Mar 12, 2009 1:44 AM EDT up reply actions
mania, please post what i have to say cuz it will tear these guys up.
by ehoglund on Mar 12, 2009 2:46 AM EDT up reply actions
You guys are crazy. You all act like Silva isn’t a LEGIT black belt in BJJ. I know the fight was prolly at 170 but if you watch AS reverse Roan Carnero with a triangle from the bottom then pound his out ass out, it is beautiful. Going along with that, you have to remember how lanky AS is, and that makes him very dangerous from the bottom. I could see him getting taken down and then just to prove a point, him subing leites with an arm bar or triangle.
All that being said i dont even think that Leites is going to be able to get him to the ground and i really hope (and think) that it could be a rd 1 KO.
Just remember how mad everyone was at the end of the Cote fight for him not just beating the crap out of him. He could very well remember all that hating and try to prove a point and just kill leites.
by ehoglund on Mar 12, 2009 2:51 AM EDT up reply actions
tearing guys up is not something that should be on a mans agenda :[ we don’t wanna hear about your fantasies dude
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 3:14 AM EDT up reply actions
lmao
but i give leites a decent shot against silva and i think liddell will take out shogun
by Jared on Mar 12, 2009 7:37 AM EDT up reply actions
I think a striker will do just fine if he can take a shot and avoid the clinch. Silva is very technical. But Cote took some good shots and kept coming. He was still looking bouncy when his knee imploded. Don’t let silva find his range. And don’t stay inside too long. Movement is they key. You stand there too long and he’ll pick you apart. You stay too close and he’ll feed you a knee. Leben is a good striker and can take a shot but he just keeps walking at you like a zombie. Ya’ll just have to promise not to jump ship if Silva loses this fight against Leites. This is MMA. The guy’s bound to lose at some point. And it will more than likely be against an unknown than a big name. In a fight one punch can end it all. Everyone in the UFC is too good and they deserve better than bandwagon fans. I’ll roll with Silva till the end. Just like I still got Chuck even though he has been terrible of late.
by wAyNe on Mar 12, 2009 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions
I got Silva by tko in the 3rd after picking Leites apart for 10 minutes on the feet. And I’m hoping that Liddell comes in with fire under his ass and beats Hua somehow. If Chuckie is gonna win, hes gotta change it up a bit. Im thinking we might see Chuck going for some takedowns….. the new camp, and all this time off will hopefully bring back a “new” Chuck. Should be an exciting fight as long as they both show up in shape.
by allamerican on Mar 12, 2009 9:35 AM EDT up reply actions
I can definitely see Leites pulling off the upset if this fight goes to the ground. Its a no-brainer if Silva keeps this standing. Still, I got Silva FTW.

Kevin – Thanks for rankling all of Mask’s best friends in the other thread. Their responses were hilarious!

lol, I see your only mission here is to be an annoyance, but I have the cure; everytime I see the name OJR, Kevin, Introvert etc.. at the top of a post I just skip it. Easy. But congrats, you win this round; I should have just done that yesterday to begin with.

OJR, you guys were going at it in that thread! I can understand what those guys were trying to say (human life) But its not like he was trying to help an old lady cross the street and got hit by a car. Its not like I knew him personally. 70 to 80% of bloggers would talk sh*t about them (including me) Now its like oh “you will be missed” why?
by JV on Mar 12, 2009 7:50 AM EDT up reply actions
personally I’d rather be talking sh!t about the guys last episode of tap out then have him dead; but hey, can’t expect everyone to have a little decensy and move on. I really believe you guys when you say you don’t care, or that you believe he deserved it etc.. but I don’t think that was even the issue; it was more or less just a troll job to get as many people worked up as possible. So not only are you people indecent and disrespectful, you’re a bunch of trolls too.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 12, 2009 8:06 AM EDT up reply actions
JV- O Damn will defend a guy he doesn’t know and rip into people he does not know with a passion that is unexplainable…
Hilarious!!!
Now, I will promise to let the issue RIP…

Not really defending him; just think its sad to see people in your state of mind. It’s kind of sick, and a real downer imo to know there are a lot of people out there that think like you do.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 12, 2009 9:41 AM EDT up reply actions
Silva in third by dominatioin, and I want to see him lose but Leites doesn`t have the KO power that is needed. Chuck should KO Rua.
by Beaver on Mar 11, 2009 10:35 PM EDT reply actions
I hope he KO’s Rua. It will be a tough fight tho. All depends on if Rua comes at Chuck and lets him counter.
by enzo-enormous on Mar 11, 2009 10:36 PM EDT up reply actions
im gonna go with chuck to win as well, everyone puts out this hatred towards a guy who fought everyone you could find and won.. saying he fought only wrestlers is stupidity at it’s finest,
he beat your boy wandy, vitor got knockedout,he beat horn, babalu, couture whos striking is really good no denying it..
people just hate on chuck for no reason
by randy murders on Mar 11, 2009 11:39 PM EDT up reply actions
when did liddell knock vitor out, he knocked him down but not out
by Jared on Mar 12, 2009 7:39 AM EDT up reply actions
I think if rua trains his as of he wins otherwise chuck takes it i bet if chuck wins they give him 1 or 2 people and if he wins those they will prob give him a title shot again
by The Philicutioner on Mar 11, 2009 10:41 PM EDT reply actions
so sad, i hope Chuck gets knocked the f out just because of his and Dana’s friendship.. they built him up as a dangerous striker b/c he was fighting wrestlers that only wanted to take him down! so he did not ever improve his striking and these days hís lack of standup technique just keeps on showing over and over again.. his boxing defense is to get hit on the chin
by RoB on Mar 11, 2009 10:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Chuck’s chin is rather solid. He got caught against Rampage and was up and walking around pretty quickly. Against Shad, he made a mistake of leading with an uppercut and that was Shad’s coming out party.
Yeah.. that probably isn’t a great arguement, saying he got caught twice, but still. I think he’s got a decent chin, and more than a decent chance at winning this fight
by Synyster on Mar 12, 2009 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions
wandy hit him with everything he had, as did jardine.. both rocked him but couldnt finish, i think his chin might be a little suspect but shogun SUCKS the pride rules were perfect for him
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 12:17 AM EDT up reply actions
not only that no steroid/drug testing was perfect for Shogun.. yes Chuck’s chin is good but anyone is getting knocked out with boxing like that.. he lead with a body punch against Rampage and then with a uppercut against Rashad not too good, he’s not in his 20’s anymore he hasn’t got the same speed or physique anymore.. bottom line is that the harder the competition gets the more we’re gonna see older guys retire in their late 30’s in the future!
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 12:28 AM EDT up reply actions
I would be stupid if i thought that Chuck didn’t have a good chance at winning this.. I was just saying that his time is up even if he wins this fight
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 12:30 AM EDT up reply actions
What do you have against Dana. He is one of the main reason`s we are seeing the best against the best. If you had Affliction`s chump in charge….do I have to say anymore?
by Beaver on Mar 12, 2009 2:45 AM EDT up reply actions
whats wrong with there fights? last card had there best 2 HW’s fighting best 2 MW’s,and an old school brawler fighting a new school roidhead.. and they had little nog the card was not bad and the fights were even if you ask me for what they have they put together a show better then the ufc they just don’t have the stable of fighters and won’t workout because they overpay and jumped into PPV to fast
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 3:16 AM EDT up reply actions
Last time I checked Dana White isnt the one who bought the UFC and saved the day. If you think he has been running this by himself your crazy.

anderson will keep this fight standing and win by tko/ko. i think maia will be the only fighter to have a chance to pull something off against anderson on the ground.
hopefully shogun comes in better shape and the fight is a 3 round brawl! but i think chuck will sneak a decision

Fedor
Andrei Arlovski

Mirko Filipovic
Tsuyoshi Kohsaka
Actually that`s Fedor and his last nine opponents No wonder he hasn`t lost lately they all suck LOL!

It`s funny how some give respect to a fighter that fights easy fights and trash a fighter that fights tough fights of coarse he is going to have some defeats against top ranked fighter`s. I truely respect Jardine more than I respect Fedor. Records mean nothing to me when your ranking is number one and your fighting guy`s not even ranked in the top five what kind of BS is that? Who would pick any of those fighters to be a top five……if so you don`t know MMA you are brain washed by trump….no really you are.

arlovski is top5 sylvia at that point was,as was cro cop, the only one i can say fedor should never have fought really is lindland though matts a MW.. i see your point but fedor hasn’t fought as weak of competition as a few of us including myself say i just like getting john mad talking bad about his future husband

Now that you put it that way, its hard to really think he’s the best. 3 of those were actually good fighters at the time, those being AA, Timmy and CroCop. Granted, he destroyed most those guys (aside from AA), but still. Kind of weak…

p4p real list for me is
1)GSP-hes got great standup,wrestling,and bjj
2)anderson silva-great striker,great bjj,below average wrestling
3)fedor-he barely started fighting the tougher competition and looked sluggish against AA
4)lyoto machida-i have yet to see a weakness just in his competition
5)rampage jackson-the man fights anyone anytime and gets the job done 9/10 times
6)miguel torres- dudes phenomenal all around but his division is to new to know much about the skill of his competition so far
7)bj penn-great fighter for 155 but hes a definite weightclass fighter
8)urijah faber-gets caught or wins
9)brock lesnar-he’s built like an abrams tank, and moves like a lotus elise
10)rashad evans-i hate him but gotta give him some credit he wins a lot
by randy murders on Mar 12, 2009 3:23 AM EDT up reply actions
Lyoto is undefeated, and at the top of the LHW division, but who has he really beaten? No one that really warrants a top 5 P4P ranking. Maybe at filler at like, number 9 or 10, but no way at No.4. Rashad should be higher up, IMO, and Brock is a little early. He is the HW champ, but I wouldn’t call him the best HW in the world yet, or top P4P either. Just my opinion on your opinion. lol.
by Synyster on Mar 12, 2009 8:00 AM EDT up reply actions
I’m not that big a lyoto fan either; I give the guy props, he is undefeated after all, but the biggest name in his win column is Tito Ortiz; and Tito hasn’t looked good in years.. However, this will soon be set to rest when he fights Rashad; I’ll wait for that fight to happen before I put Lyoto at the top of a p4p list or oust him from it.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 12, 2009 9:20 AM EDT up reply actions
Actually, the biggest “name” on his list is BJ. Just a point of fact. Not trying to start another “war of words” with you.
by OJR on Mar 12, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions
BJ might have been the biggest name, but not his best victory. BJ fighting at 205 is not as impressive as some of his other fights. Machida’s best win came against Franklin.
by RealDrew on Mar 12, 2009 10:34 AM EDT up reply actions
RealDrew: the only reason I say Tito is because he’s a true 205er; not that Franklin can’t be, but we all know he’d have much better success at 185. And yea, Penn is a lightweight that shouldn’t have made it to a decision with Machida, if anything I think that would be the one fight on his resume that makes him look bad. Besides, Ortiz is still 1/2 the highest grossing PPV in UFC history last time I checked, he’s the biggest name beaten on the resume imo.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 12, 2009 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions
for sure.. maybe if someone used their brain they would understand that the reason Tito hasn’t looked dominant is b/c he’s fought Forrest, Rashad and Lyoto and he’s fought with back pain for years, give the guy a break.. Tito would be a f’in world champ if he dominated those fights like ppl think he should or something
by RoB on Mar 12, 2009 1:44 PM EDT up reply actions
Phili-
1) Fedor
2) Torres
3) A. Silva
4) GSP

6) Lyoto
7) Faber
8) Barnett
9) Rampage
10) BJ (despite the whupping from GSP)
Apologies to the many talented Asian fighters. My humble opinion is limited to people I have seen in action
by OJR on Mar 12, 2009 9:53 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah i agree chuck does have a good chin, his problem has not been taking punches its his guard and head/foot movement in his last couple of fights! Lets face it, that ko from shad ko’s anyone, and rampage ko’d him but he wasnt out, and in both the jardine and wandi fights he recovered real quick!! He is just taking too many shots!
I hope he comes in and improves on these factors as id love to see him get another shot at the title. further i was watching that first fight with rampage, that was a close fight and not the domination everyone says. Yeah at the end rampage finished him but both knock downs were more stumbles than strikes in that fight!
Come on chucky get the win and get your ass over to the UK so i can come see you kick ass!!!!

I think we can all agree that Jason Von Flue is extremely underrated and is clearly the best fighter in the world.
Jye- you have got to be French and or Canadian to think GSP is the best pound for pound fighter LOL, and to rank Marquadt as number 5 -Hilarious! Everyone knows GSP is a greaser and that is the only reason he seems to be a superior wrestler. How is GSP the best wrestler without a wrestling background? Because he is a greaser. That is like an inferior puncher be the best striker if he wears brass knukles. Freaking Canadians!

Shogun gonna win by descision or late ko, i love listening to the chuck dick riders, chuck was only considered good in the past because he fought guys who couldnt strike good enough to hurt him (sobral, ortiz, belfort etc) so he could leave his hands down, get alot of crank back and pull off an easy homerun punch ,but when he fought guys that were not even that great at striking but could hit hard he got koed or knockdown (even in the silva fight round 2), know he knows he cant leave his hands down and that robs him of 1/2 of his KO power, and he doesnt even have much of a reach advantage over shogun, shogun please retire this has-been

Fedor ducked top competition?? Has Anderson not feasted on Leben, Lutter, Irvin and now Leites?? In PRIDE Fedor fought the best HWs in the world. And then he took out the two best UFC HWs in the last 4 years in a combined 4 minutes. GSP has spent 45 mins in his last two fights, that is equal to Fedor’s last 10 fights or so. Not only does Fedor crush anybody he faces, he does it with ease. He hasn’t lost a round in almost 10 years. Uneducated noobs make me laugh. Fedor walks around at 10 lbs. more than Anderson, I would love to see them fight, because Fedor would maul him in three minutes.
Moving on, Shogun is going to destroy Chuck. Once again, uneducated TUF fans hate on Shogun. You know he ran through Alistair Overeem and Randleman in Vegas under the PRIDE banner with drug testing?? Look at him, to say he did steroids is hilarious. His body is as unassuming as Fedor’s. He has a granite chin, is undefeated in professional muay thai, and is WAY too diverse for Chuck. Chuck is going to get beat down like Rampage did. Having two major knee surgeries will make anybody look sluggish, but you couch athletes cannot comprehend that. Here is Rampage on Shogun “By far, the best fighter I have ever faced. He beat me down and made it look easy. He’s amazing.”
