oh what I would pay to see Rampage slam Jardine like that!!! How disrespectful to make him fight Jardine and Jardine fight him, when little “Suga” is the one who should have manned up and fought Rampage! I hope Rampage blasts Jardine so bad and then runs over to his corner and starts howling at Rashad…
by Chadx23 on Mar 4, 2009 12:49 PM EST reply actions
Rampage has no issue with disrespecting himself by the ignorant things he says and does, so I’m sure having to fight Jardine isn’t really an issue with Rampage.

rashad has all lucky knockouts, the only people to beat rampage wore him down and worked him throughout the fights.. rampage getting 1 hit KOed is like the same odds as winning the lottery

i became a rampage fan after watching interviews with him, the dudes just funny and laughs about everything
by randy murders on Mar 4, 2009 1:33 PM EST up reply actions
Not gonna happen, Lyoto is the only one with a chance to beat Rashad. Rashad is to strong, quick and fast for Rampage plus he has great conditioning and is probably a better wrestler. I like them both but have been a huge Rashad fan since watching him on TUF. Lucky KO’s eh, thats laughable dude do even watch the fights. He is a super Athlete, people just dont like him because without being disrespectful to others he is pretty cocky!!!!
by the spyder on Mar 4, 2009 1:39 PM EST up reply actions
I hope Jardine wins just so Lyoto can get a title shot. He is undefeated! If nothing else why not have rampage fight Lyoto instead of Jardine? Keith is underpaid more than any other star. He got 14,000 when he beat Chuck. Most these guys get at least 100,000. What is Jardine up to now 64,000?

i second to that Dice…cmon man! be real..rampage has the most devastating takedowns and slams in mma…if ever rampage gets a wrestling battle with suga then it would be a wooping that rashad can only expect.

you really need to work hard to KO rampage. he is tough mofo
by ufc 96 on Mar 4, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions
Jardine does not possess a tool to finish Rampage in this fight. He will be relying on “out-pointing” Rampage and winning a decision. This means Rampage potentially has 15 full minutes to put Jardine in a position he won’t recover from. I can’t imagine Rampage needing the full 15 minutes to land some sort devastating shot on Jardine.
by CL on Mar 4, 2009 2:54 PM EST up reply actions
That is the SAME logic we all had in the Forrest fight. The only difference being that Rampage had 25 full minutes to finish Forrest. But he didn’t.
by ViolentMike on Mar 4, 2009 4:08 PM EST up reply actions
You are right. I just see it as a long shot that this fight will play out similarly to the Forrest fight. It’s possible, but just not likely. Also, I would think Rampage learned from that loss and will do more to push the action.

Normally I would want Rampage to win this fight but I dont want to see Machida sidelined, so I’ll be rooting for Jardine. Who’s the next best contender after Machida if Rampage loses? Banha maybe, if he wins his next fight?
by c-war on Mar 4, 2009 1:56 PM EST up reply actions
if Rampage loses, the next shot (when Machida beats Rashad) should go to Jardine or Shogun if he beats Chuck

Rampage said this during the UFC 96 phone conference: “I don’t even know who Demian Maia is.”
Kind of funny being that he was in attendance at UFC 95.
Yet another ignorant statement from a guy who constatntly needs attention. Reminds me of this kid name Donnie I was in elementary school with.

What’s so idiotic about Rampage not knowing Maia? They don’t fight in the same weight class. Maybe Rampage is too busy training to keep track of every fighter in the UFC, even ones that he will never face.

El Mexico dude,
By the way, if you have to constantly prove yourself or try to demonstrate you are better or smarter than others THEN you are just putting your insecurity on display for everyone.

Maybe all that Rampage was sayin’ was that he didn’t know Maia personally[w/c may be true because I’m sure they all don’t know each other personally]…That’s my deduction, but in any case, rampage is funny! You must be a rock not to find any humor in the guy.

Actually he’s right; being a nobody and being talented don’t have anything to do with eachother; he could be the best BJJ guy on the planet but popularity wise still be a “nobody”; maybe in the future the name “Maia” will bring in record PPV buys, but right now I’d have to agree with Rob; his drawing power just isn’t up there; not even close to Rampage.
by O damn he got caught on Mar 5, 2009 8:59 AM EST up reply actions
Odamn is right! In the future Maia’s beautiful ground game is going to force casual blood thirsty fans to learn to appreciate his ground game and eventually I do believe he will become a ppv draw, but right now….If we did an experiment and went to watch a Maia fight at a crowded hooters, I doubt many people would make a big deal out of him fighting. I do believe that it will change in the future!
I did this same experiment for Fedor’s last fight…cause we all talk about how he isnt a draw in the USA! well guess what boys.;..thats changing! i went to watch Afflictions last show at hooters and What I saw was surprising and very encouraging. From the time the event started…HOoters was completely packed, and about 300 people were cheering for Fedor in anticipation the entire night. From the 1st fight to the main event, the crowd repeatedly broke out in chants: FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR!!!! I had no idea that he had become this popular in America so quickly.
UFC is going to land Fedor….when they do, they will have Affliction to thank because they basically marketed Fedor from a not so famous legend, into a major draw. Once Fedor signs with the uFC, affliction will have already built him an American fanbase….making him even more valuable to the UFC than he was at their last negotiations!

Rampage for sure has the punching power to put Jardine away. his punches are very explosive. however here is my thing…. !1. jardine has two times in his career pulled the upset and if he did it again over rampage that would be huge for him. 2. say rampage does beat jardine like i am thinking he will. if he gets in there with rashad i think rashad can out work him and get him tired and start getting takedowns and start beating him up some. the people that have went the distance with rampage here of late are the people that have have the best chances ( hendo , forrest).Dont get me wrong i really like rampage and i am actually not very fond of rashad but i think he can out work rampage in the long run.

I’m gonna stay with my original pick, Jardine by decision. IMO Jardine just needs to focus winning each round on the scorecards and not looking for a KO. Basically same type of gameplan Bisping used against Leban.
by rydinlow on Mar 4, 2009 2:01 PM EST reply actions
A boring gameplan if you ask me. I guess Rampage is looking for the KO based on what he last did to Wanderlei.

Remember that this fight is only 3 rounds. It seems like a 5 rounder cause it is the headline event but its not. Keith went 3 with Chuck who has KO power. He lost the first round and went on to win. Problem is Keith does the same 1-2 punch the round kick to the leg or ribs on the way out crap. Page did not check kicks when he fought Griffen and it hurt him. Hopefully he has learned how but I want Jardine to win so that Lyoto can get a shot.

Yah your right KO’ing a guy that brutalized you twice means nothing right? Give me a break most people would of lost before the fight even began, but Rampage kept his nerves in check and came through. Correct me if im wrong but didnt Wandy completly dismantle Jardine? Hell yeah he did. You right KO’ing Wandy is a breeze LOL what a joke People are all on Rashads nuts because he KO’d Chuck who is in the same boat as Wandy. I dont get the double standard

People always want to comment on something.
Who are Maia’s training parters? Who does Lyoto train with… on and on. Rampage has a good camp and he typically looks good. He didn’t look bad against griffin, lost a decision. He got worked by leg kicks. Anything can happen at 205.
