seriously! Werdum sucks! Pathetic

by The Dude on Mar 2, 2009 9:23 AM EST up reply actions

Seriously Dude, you are pathetic! Werdum is easily a top 10 HW, who IMO is BETTER than both guys that currently wear the UFC hhw title around their waist!

by john on Mar 2, 2009 10:18 AM EST up reply actions

Not only that, he said he wouldn’t stand with him, he’d only take him down. Werdum lost all self respect

by DF on Mar 2, 2009 10:23 AM EST up reply actions

Werdum would put Fergie in any sub he wanted in under 30 seconds.

by PW on Mar 2, 2009 12:32 PM EST up reply actions

Better than both guys with the ufc belts. Seriously get your head checked, brock and mir would murder werdum.

by LG on Mar 2, 2009 12:56 PM EST up reply actions

brock probably but mir? mir’s strength is his jiu jitsu and he wouldnt be able to get anything off on werdum, thats a pretty even fight if you ask me

by brendan on Mar 2, 2009 1:36 PM EST up reply actions

Except, based on his fight with Big Nog, Mir’s stand-up seems to be much improved. Old Mir may have been a tossup vs. Werdum, but I think new calm-philosopher Mir knocks around Fabricio for a round or two before finishing him.

by Canucklehead on Mar 2, 2009 1:58 PM EST up reply actions

werdum survived two rounds of gabriel gonzaga’s brutal stand up game, i think hell do just fine against mir, im sticking with it being a tossup still

by brendan on Mar 2, 2009 4:26 PM EST up reply actions

Toss up? Werdum is a much more dangerous striker than Mir….and anyone with half a brain knows that the only heavyweights on Earth good enough to survive on the ground against Werdum are Nog and Fedor!

Frank MIr? When will you guys get it into your heads that he is TRASH!!?

by john on Mar 2, 2009 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

If he stops ducking when he jabs, he should be fine. Then again does Kimbo have power? Seriously MWs in the UFC seem to hit harder.

by NameNotRequired on Mar 2, 2009 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

Frank Mir Is All Mighty.

by BrutalKnockout. on Mar 2, 2009 8:10 PM EST up reply actions

mir vs werdum? = are u kidding me? mir would be peppered in the stand up and will be decapitated in the ground..

brock vs werdum? = i think that would be the toss up..wanna know why? because of sheer size..but when round 1 is over…it’ll be werdum who will steamroid brock

by gaara on Mar 2, 2009 8:52 PM EST up reply actions

I’m takin Kimbo…Werdum has a glass jaw.

by TheTruth007 on Mar 2, 2009 10:39 AM EST up reply actions

so…Dos Santos lands a THUNDEROUS uppercut right on the Button and all of the sudden Werdum has a glass Jaw?

Change your name to “the LIE007”

by john on Mar 2, 2009 11:21 AM EST up reply actions

That was probably a joke. One thing everyone knows for sure is that Kimbo has an OFF button for a chin.

by naturalshadow on Mar 2, 2009 1:20 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with John…Just b/c Dos Santos lands a devastating, precise uppercut on Werdum doesn’t mean he has a glass jaw. Everyone is hating on Werdum now. This guy is a consensus top 10 HW, even tho hes at the bottom on the ladder..Strikeforce is the perfect promotion for him to re-establish his career

by Thurth007isWACK on Mar 2, 2009 1:34 PM EST up reply actions

Daaaaaaaamn…no one can take a joke…Werdum pay you guys to come on here and defend him?

by Daaaaaaaamn on Mar 2, 2009 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

did u see the interviewer turn the camera on himself at the end. It was like he couldn’t believe Werdum would say that. Pointless fight. On one hand, ok fine Kimbo is finally gonna fight and not be the main event or over hyped(god i hope not). Strikeforce seems to want to do things the right way. And finally he’s fighting a credible opponent, but damn, why feed him to a high level guy like Werdum. Unless they just want the casual fans to see Kimbo get handled by a guy they may have never heard of to build up and start marketing Werdum. However, I’m not sure casual fans pay attention to Strikeforce. This is just flat out odd.

by Crowls on Mar 2, 2009 9:50 AM EST up reply actions

And Shamrock after that… lol

by DJ on Mar 2, 2009 9:56 AM EST up reply actions

when i first watched this i was like, a top 10 hw calling out kimbo, thats just pathetic, but if i was in his place i might do the same aswell, look at the way he was treated by the ufc, quite crappy for a top 10 hw and then he sees a guy like kimbo making $500,000 a fight for fighting no bodies, maybe he thinks if he gets a fight with kimbo and destroys him, which is almost 100% likely, he will become more known and be treated better.

by hughes on Mar 2, 2009 10:03 AM EST up reply actions

Hughes: I am a big werdum fan and I have to agree with your logic. As good as Werdum is, he doesnt have that big of a fan base in the USA. Beating Kimbo would put him right in the limelight in the uSA, and its actually a pretty good move for Werdum’s career. Regardless about what people think of Kimbo, EVERYONE tunes in to watch him fight, so Werdum owuld totally out class him and start building a name for himself. Once he beats Kimbo, his status will rise and he will be offered bigger fights by other organizations like Affliction.

Its actually a pretty good move on Werdum’s part, but I doubt that strikeforce would actually book it!

the fight that I really want to see is:

Werdum vs. Alistar Overeem for the Strikeforce HW title!

by john on Mar 2, 2009 10:17 AM EST up reply actions

hughes, Kimbo was not making 500K it was 250K. He only made 500K on the Seth fight. I agree with Werdum being more known by beating Kimbo. But dam! He was a win away from a title shot, and now this.

Ladies and gentlemen, her is the leading candidate to become 2009’s Tim Sylvia…

Haha. If this happens I may agree.

by naturalshadow on Mar 2, 2009 1:22 PM EST up reply actions

Talk about losing ones self respect…If he had any left.

by DubNub on Mar 2, 2009 9:28 AM EST reply actions

After that he wants to step up in competition and fight Kurt Angle…

by KS on Mar 2, 2009 9:29 AM EST reply actions

Kurt Angle would give Werdum a hell of a lot more of a fight than Fergie. Angle was an Olympic medalist and also considered the toughest guy in the WWE by the other wrestlers. Oh it’s true. It’s damn true.

by PW on Mar 2, 2009 12:33 PM EST up reply actions

are you a closet WWE fan PW? youre always hyping up lesnar, lashley, now angle…

by brendan on Mar 2, 2009 1:41 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think I was ever in the closet about it. My man-crush on Lesnar is more to do with his unmatched combination of size, power and speed. As a wrestler Lashley bored me to tears, and he is one guy I will say roided without having a positive test to point to (he wrestled at 171 in the Army after college before suddenly becoming 290 pounds of muscle). And Angle is too old to make a serious run at the UFC, but he really was an Olympic wrestler, on the same team where Couture was an alternate if I’m not mistaken. As ridiculous as WWE is a lot of the time, the wrestlers are elite athletes, and most of them could have been professionals in other sports if they wanted to.

by PW on Mar 2, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, seems kind of unfortunate that they waste their talent on the freakshow that is the WWE… i guess in this world you just gotta follow the money

by brendan on Mar 2, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

And people actually stuck up for him when he was booted by the UFC. I will say I didnt understand the release, but now he calls out Kimbo, and it all makes sense. whats a joke

by lokie on Mar 2, 2009 9:31 AM EST reply actions

he didnt call him out – he said that Kimbo was one of the best SF has to offer – so he may aswell fight him – and to be honest, he didnt look like he gave a shit who he fights next.

by Insain on Mar 2, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions

Yep….and people were hating on Dana for releasing him…he knew something was up.

by Robert(1) on Mar 2, 2009 9:40 AM EST reply actions

Sucks? He beat Vera and Gonzaga twice.

by john23 on Mar 2, 2009 9:45 AM EST reply actions

True. I actually couldn’t care less that he beat Vera, since I think Vera was one of the most over hyped fighters the UFC has promoted. Now he has been relegated to the undercard. On the other hand, beating Gonzaga 2 times is a pretty big feather in your cap.

by naturalshadow on Mar 2, 2009 1:27 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldnt mind watching that fight and see Kimbo get humiliated again.

by Lester the Pimp on Mar 2, 2009 10:16 AM EST reply actions

by TheTruth007 on Mar 2, 2009 10:28 AM EST reply actions

He gets KO’D in ther UFC, then proceeds to rip the UFC and now calls out Kimbo. Does this guy just want an easy win or what, what a joker. Beating Kimbo should get you some cred. back eh dude……….LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!

by the spyder on Mar 2, 2009 10:58 AM EST reply actions

the guy doesn’t need “cred” back. His loss in the UFC was stupid. He tried to stand with a top ranked kick boxer. He should have put pride aside and submitted him.

by AA on Mar 2, 2009 11:11 AM EST reply actions

Werdum hardly “called out” Kimbo. He was simply responding to a random question by a dude with a camera. And, he only said it’s a possibility not a done deal.

As for the likelihood of the match up actually taking place, I’d say the chances aren’t good.
Unless Kimbo’s people are just looking to cash in on his name for another fight or two & then get him out of the game, then I really doubt that they’d follow up a 15 second KO loss to Seth Petruzelli by putting him in the cage with Werdum.
In my book, that’s like making the jump from a lukewarm Billy Mays’ Big City Slider Station into a molten hot turkey fryer.

by jim allcorn on Mar 2, 2009 12:09 PM EST reply actions

What?? I didnt even know Werdum was out of the UFC!!..and he wants to fight Kimbo now…c’mon act like a top 10 heavyweight please!
