Thales Leites 2nd Rnd Arm-Triangle!!! Haha! Not.. But thats what I’m saying and I’m staying with that.
by Synyster on Feb 27, 2009 2:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
funny you say that Syn…as you prob already know 4 of his 14 wins have come via arm tri choke with another 3-4 coming via arm bar
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 2:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah… I don’t think he’ll armbar or RNC Anderson. Arm-triangle seems more likely to me. I’ve been saying this for a long time though, so no changes for me. Am I betting? Maybe 5 bucks to earn me like, 500. But nothing more.
by Synyster on Feb 27, 2009 2:45 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Unless Anderson comes out less then half I don’t see it making it out of the 1st round.
SIDE NOTE Has anyone heard anything on Jon Fitch’s next fight? It seems Kos is fighting every other card and I’ve heard nothing of Fitch or Swick for that matter?
by Arnold on Feb 27, 2009 3:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
honestly Syn I don’t think its a bad bet…I have a feeling about this one and he’s got to lose sometime
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Fitch just fought and beat Gono…Swick is fighting apparently at UFC 99 hopefullt against AJ
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:12 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I knew about the Gono fight; I hadn’t hear about Swick and UFC 99 though
by Arnold on Feb 27, 2009 3:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i wouldn’t doubt leites beats silva it just has upset written all over it, but if i was betting it would be silva by TKO early in the 1st, marquardt handled this guy and he kinda sucks, maia deserves a shot before either guy until marquardt can quit making stupid mistakes and costing points, and keeping his hands up protecting his chin and not nipples he wont touch silva
by randy murders on Feb 27, 2009 3:27 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
really??? I knew he was hurt a few months ago which is why he got pushed to Germany but I might be wrong…if he is fighting at UFC 99 I hope its against some tough comp like AJ or…oh ya, he doesn’t want to fight like half of the welter weights
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I just tried to look and guess I am trippin. Swick vs AJ would be a bad a$$ fight.
by BNF on Feb 27, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
would swick fight him though? im starting to not care about swick anymore he used to be fun to watch now he fights whenever he wants and seems to be picking fights he can win rather then a good challenge, my bet is he wont fight AJ
by randy murders on Feb 27, 2009 3:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
hopefully Dana’s apparent dislike for AKA will force him too…he won’t fight Fitch or KOS (2 of the top 5 WW in UFC) so who is left…
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Everyone is sleeping on Leites but let me say right now that i won’t be surprised if he puts silva in precarious situations.
by NameNotRequired on Feb 27, 2009 6:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Swick vs Dustin Hazlett its a good fight!!

This should read Leites ready for the fright of his life…What exactly has Leites shown that would make anyone believe that he even has a remote chance at the upset? Unless Silva shows up at less than 75%…it’s going to be quick one for the champ…which is good cause he needs to move onto a real #1 contender.
by Buster Bluth on Feb 28, 2009 12:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
THales might not be the true #1 contender, but he is easily a top 5 middleweight. So giving him a title shot is Legit….unlike when they offer Mir (who isnt even top 10) title fights.
U guys underestimate THales too much. The guy is extremely well versed on the ground and he is training with Jacre and Galvao. His chin is also pretty solid…..he made it to a decision after Marquardt hit him with everything but the kitchen sink! tHales’s favorite move is the arm triangle. Dunno if he can catch Anderson with it, but he can use the threat of the arm triangle, to set up other subs or to distract Anderson so that thales can pass guard.
yOU guys complain about THales, but I like this fight. THales is a legit Contender, unlike those watered down bums they have been feeding Anderson. For example, cote….THales beats Cote 9 out of 10 times. tHales is legit! Thales isnt travis Lutter or James Irvin, he is the real deal. I expect Anderson to win of course but thales will make it interesting for sure!
Should be one of the best fights involving Anderson in a while!

does anyone know what the odds are yet? they have to be close to the tyson-douglas fight.

That’s what I get for regurgitating comments from other sites. A little research shows…
Thales Leites
+335
+350
Anderson Silva
-460
-450
by Rich B on Feb 27, 2009 2:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
what were the odds on Cote?? Anybody remember?
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:33 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i guess vegas is giving leites a bit more of a chance…
by brendan on Feb 28, 2009 11:57 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He seems very confident but when he gets in there with Anderson he is going down… Although i think he will do better than alot of people think he will.
by belfort_fan on Feb 27, 2009 2:27 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
If this lasts more than 1 round it is only because Silva allowed it to.

This guy is even more unworthy then Cote, and whats worse, this idÃot actually cheered when he was GIVEN the fight against Marquardt by the judges.
No class.
by Lester the Pimp on Feb 27, 2009 2:41 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Should he have been sad?? Marquardt beat himself. Don’t get pissed at Thales. Nate is the one who did the illegal shit. Thales was a warrior for continuing after that Illegal knee.
Trying to “PileDrive” somebody= Class??? Yeah right…
by Pimp_man on Feb 27, 2009 2:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yep no matter what anyone says, that knee changed the whole fight.. and then a piledrive to end the fight!
by RoB on Feb 27, 2009 3:24 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
No doubt, Pimp Man… Also, the pile driver is illegal, but no point was taken. Marquardt should have lost anyways, regardless of the “controversial” points that were taken.
by BNF on Feb 27, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
doesn’t sound like he wants any part of a rematch with Marquardt. How can he be confident fighting anderson when he won’t own up to the fact he doesn’t wanna fight Nate again.
by Crowls on Feb 27, 2009 3:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
no class? The dude won the fight, what’s he supposed to do? Look sad? You’re a joke.
All those people who think NM won that fight are stupid. Thales OWNED the first round, then gets illegally kneed in the head in the 2nd and was obviously out of it the next round and a half. What’s more, NM being down 2 pts now, knew he needed to finish Thales while Thales knew that he needed only to hang on and being still woozy from the knee, that’s all he tried to do.
Of course Nate was going to be the aggressor in the 3rd, of course he’s going to leave it all out in the cage — he had nothing to lose!
Thales beat Nate fair and square.

I dont even want to see this fight…Thighbone leightes is g@y..i dont even know why he is getting a title shot. Patrick Cote and now him. WTF kind of challenge is this? Its like St pierre fighting a ton of matt serras….STOOOOPPPPIIIID
by What? on Feb 27, 2009 2:51 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Maybe you should have used a different opponent for GSP as an example… If Leites pulled a Serra he may just win by flying armbar. That would be sick…
by BNF on Feb 27, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
you mean fighting a guy who has a victory over him? your comment makes no sense fluke or not gsp fighting serra again needs to happen sometime down the road for the rubber match..
silva fighting anyone isn’t fair but hey people said the same about urijah faber, and gsp when he first got the title, and with rampage when he beat chuck its unpredictable what can happen, styles make fights, and every man has a punchers chance
by randy murders on Feb 27, 2009 3:30 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
are you seriously suggesting GSP fight Serra again in a rubber match or is that sarcasim??
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Hopefully it’s sarcasm. And it’s not the same as when Chuck and Rampage fought because Rampage had already beaten Chuck the F down in PRIDE, and a lot of people thought Page was the favorite.
by Diceman on Feb 27, 2009 10:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Man, I found it hard to look at the interviewer sweating, thinking about donuts :)
I am not sure about this one, I really think Leites has a chance and I actually thing he will catch him with a punch, hit the ground … not sure if he will finish him, but it will definately get to that mat. Looking forward to it.

Anderson Silva regardless of the wins or losses should fight the following after Thales:
Okami in July
Maia in October
Marquardt in December
winner of Henderson / Bisping in March
Man UP Anderson!

nate will fight Maia around the same time as Hendo/Bisping for #1 contender…Okami…??? Your guess is as good as mine but imo Okami’s time has passed which is unfortunate
by McArthur on Feb 27, 2009 3:45 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Okami is boring, plus he can beat anyone thats why he’s not fighting anytime soon
by JUDAS on Feb 27, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You want him to man up and fight two guys he already fought and beat.
by James S on Feb 27, 2009 6:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Hendo who was once the Pride 205v champ champ will beat him next time?
by Beaver on Feb 28, 2009 2:53 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Anderson is training bjj with Jacare and Galvao.
That little 1 in 1000 chance he had just got arm barred.
Say good night.

Anderson needs to stomp a mud hole in this dudes ass and then move up to the 205 division. The 205 division has more of a challenge for him.
SILVA by TKO 1st ROUND.

I would LMAO if this guy KO’ed silva like that happened to koscheck. Silva gets a little too cocky starts doing a bruce lee in the octagon, disrespects thales stand up and then the uppercut, reapeat of ufc 95 …………….WOW!!! Anderson is out cold before he hits the mat by some guy with shitty stand up!!!. The look on Dana’s face would be absolutely priceless, and it would make my year, but so would winning the lottery. ;P

Everyone knows how this fights going to end. I think the only way in hell T.L. will beat Silva is if he gets his back which really won’t happen.
