So anybody have a guess as to who Mike Swick might be facing at UFC 99? Also what do people think about Gonzaga/Carwin??

by JRE on Feb 25, 2009 7:57 PM EST reply actions

i know marcus davis is rumored for 99 also but i dont see a rematch happening, maybe anthony johnson? I think johnson is ready for a step up in competition.

as far as how i see carwin vs. gonzaga going. I think they are going to feel each other out on the feet for the first round and by the second round i think gonzaga will find a way to take carwin down and submit him.

by matt on Feb 25, 2009 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

Davis called out Dan Hardy after Hardy’s manager asked him at the UFC 95 Fighter Q&A if he would fight Hardy.

He knows that. He’s pointing it out to matt since his comment implies that he did not know about the Hardy/Davis shenanigans.

Good things these comments are about Rampage/Jardine…

by Dredg XI on Feb 26, 2009 8:32 AM EST up reply actions

man! don’t know if i wanna buy this fight
i KNOW Rampage will knock this punk out.
Jardine’s days are numbered in the UFC.

by Mikeybear2009 on Feb 26, 2009 12:22 AM EST up reply actions

he won’t get cut man he’s a great gatekeeper for the future.. if jardine loses he fights someone like bader

by randy murders on Feb 26, 2009 12:49 AM EST up reply actions

I think if Jardine loses they give Chuck another shot at him.

by naturalshadow on Feb 26, 2009 2:34 AM EST up reply actions

natural~

i agree..

regardless if the iceman wins or loses to shogun~

i feel he will make dana hook it up.

especially if he defeats rampage..

by stinky~fingers on Feb 26, 2009 2:40 AM EST up reply actions

I will tell you one thing…I agree with Rampage. I Would Not want to be Jardine right about now!

Rampage did NOT deserve to have his title taken away by Forrest, but now that it happened it may be the best thing that could have happened to Quinton. Its become Kind of cliche’ when a fighter loses we say its could be the best thing for his career, but in this case…I find it to be very true. I dont think Ramape handled his meteoric rise in the USA becoming a champion.

He obvioulsy underestimated Forrest and losing that fight ensures that it will NEVER happen again! I kind of feel bad for Forrest, because this is eating at Rampage. Rampage is not going to let this go….At some point Forrest is going to have to see Quinton again, and this time the fight will go how the 1st fight should have gone….with Forrest not lasting 15 minutes!

Jardine,Forrest, Rashad……all great fighters, but i like this focused Gym Rat version of Rampage who secludes himself in another country, doesnt take any time of between fights. Certain fighters perform, well with Time off….Quinton HOwever is Lazy by Nature, so if he doesnt have a fight booked, he gets Fat and Parties…..Staying BUsy, Training in london will shoot Quinton to an even higher level. I think the best of Quinton is still yet to come. He is still young and in his Prime.

Only fighter that I think can give an in shape Rampage trouble is Machida and the old cardio Machine Shogun, if he ever shows up!

John:

Nice post. Quinton is definately “lazy by nature” and he has regularly admitted that throughout the years. That proves without a doubt that he can only get better. Look what he and his lazy ways have accomplished thus far. Imagine if he maintains his new found discipline over the next 2-3 years. At a bare minimum he’d be in the top 2 LHW rankings the entire time.

Imagine if he refines his take downs and starts mixing them up again with the best boxing in the weight class.

by Machine on Feb 26, 2009 5:58 PM EST up reply actions

Anybody want to talk about Rampage/Jardine? Oh wait. That would be silly. It’s not like there’s a thread for that. Hey john, let’s hear some completely unrelated news!

by wAyNe on Feb 26, 2009 9:56 AM EST up reply actions

Rampage is going to waste Jardine, hopefully we finally get to see one of Quinton’s famous slams and drive Jardine into the mat.

by Larry V on Feb 25, 2009 8:04 PM EST reply actions

Only way for Jardine to win is by leg kicking Rampage. but in this match, no matter how tough the goat of mean is, he’s gonna get waxed!

by Syd[a.k.a."The Negation"] on Feb 25, 2009 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

check out the list of jardines opponents in the last 3 years: whitehead, bonnar, gouveia, griffin, alexander, lidell, wanderlei, vera, now quniton… what a line up!

by brendan on Feb 26, 2009 12:49 AM EST up reply actions

take in mind that was bonnar when he was still pretty good and not injured and out of shape, and alexander when he was a feared power puncher and jardine had him in a bit of trouble

by randy murders on Feb 26, 2009 12:51 AM EST up reply actions

Ohh look at me i’m Brendan and I LOVE THE DEAN OF MEAN…ohhhh yeaaaaaaa

by BrendanLovestheDEAN on Feb 26, 2009 12:30 PM EST up reply actions

IDk i think Jardine will give Rampage some trouble with his kicks. Forrest basically won because of his leg kicks and Jardine has better leg kicks in my opinion just look at the Liddell and Bonner fights to see how good his leg kicks are. Jardine may be as well rounded as Forrest but he has more power and better leg kicks and comes with awkward angles. He is definately hard to tell which guy your gonna get though so he could easily get knocked out two minutes into the fight as well.

by GSP4Prez on Feb 26, 2009 1:37 AM EST up reply actions

I had nearly forgotten about his slams….would be nice to see him do that again, but this will be a standup war

by Chadx23 on Feb 25, 2009 10:38 PM EST up reply actions

i don’t like the weakness of jardines chin vs the raw power of rampage, it don’t matter who you are he will catch you and put you down.. no way page takes this fight to the ground with a slam he’s gonna KO jardine worse then wandi ever thought of

by randy murders on Feb 25, 2009 11:42 PM EST up reply actions

It doesn’t matter who you are? Did he catch Forrest?

by BOW on Feb 26, 2009 9:44 AM EST up reply actions

He did catch Forrest and had any of the Ref’s from the London event been there, Page would still have his belt because the fight would’ve been stopped and ruled a TKO.

by Machine on Feb 26, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

rampage likes to stand now, i dont like page at all but i see this being a good fight, jardine has ok takedown defense so i dobt he will get slammed, i have a feeling its gonna be quick, and jardine gonna pull through, hopefully by his next fight griffin will be ready to rematch him

by phenomenal angel on Feb 26, 2009 2:35 AM EST up reply actions

Keith Jardine via leg kicks. Just kidding, but seriously. Leg kicks.

by Brandon on Feb 25, 2009 8:10 PM EST reply actions

rampage by brutal ko OR jardine by split decision w/ leg kicks

by sac165 on Feb 25, 2009 8:17 PM EST up reply actions

UFC is treating Jardine like trash, again.

He is TAILORMADE for Jackson, glassjaw vs the fastest and possibly hardest hook in the game, the matchup just screams vicious vicious KO for Jackson.

I hope it doesn’t play out the way UFC wants though and Jardine gets the win.

by Lester the Pimp on Feb 25, 2009 8:26 PM EST reply actions

Yeah I would LMAO if Jardine knocked him out or decisioned him.. Jardine is no joke, and I’m somewhat a big fan, but damn. I don’t think he wins this.

by Synyster on Feb 25, 2009 8:55 PM EST up reply actions

well jardine kind of is a joke, he got ko’d by houston alexander but hes still a contender or the guy just above gatekeeper and just below contender. rampage is going to demolish him with a brutal ko

by Jared on Feb 25, 2009 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

Jardine won’t stand and trade punches with Jackson it will be interesting to see what jardine’s gameplan is, I imagine it will be similar to his fight with chuck? Anything is possible in a fight but I can’t see Rampage losing this one or any future bouts for some time and he will be the champion again. There is no fighter in his division with his power and speed. the decision loss only made him better and that’s scary for any LW out there. Jardine has KO power and good leg strikes that will test Rampage’s so called weakness? That’s why Rampage wanted this fight.

by Beaver on Feb 25, 2009 11:21 PM EST up reply actions

I beg to differ…Rashad has about even power and has more speed… They would be a great fight. Black on black crime. hehehe i said it.

by mtl 97 on Feb 26, 2009 2:04 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, imagine getting tagged by one of Rampages hooks, if your a LW?!?! lol

by Choke_Him on Feb 26, 2009 4:36 AM EST up reply actions

mtl97: I was just about to say Rashad, good call!

by BOW on Feb 26, 2009 9:47 AM EST up reply actions

Jardine was tailor made for Chuck too, at the time it seemed like a KO was certain. I mean they called the event “Knockout” if i remember right… Just goes to show that anything can happen in a Jardine fight and his chances always seem to be best when he is the under dog. I’m saying the exact same thing I said before Jardine vs Silva, If jardine can last 30 seconds he will win the fight.

by JRE on Feb 25, 2009 8:55 PM EST up reply actions

Chuck was a counter puncher and Rampage is a puncher. I think Jardine will outscore Page and win if it goes the distance. It’s just that Rampage only has to land one good punch.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Feb 25, 2009 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

take away the good part of the punch he needs to land, rampage can knock any man on this planet out just clipping you i wasn’t a fan of his until he knocked wandi out i see rampage being the next king of a weightclass but 205 will never be desolved how 185 is right now

by randy murders on Feb 25, 2009 11:45 PM EST up reply actions

I’m more interested in seeing how Greg Jackson is planning this fight out for Jardine because if he loses than it will set up an even better gameplan for Rashad vs. Rampage.

by Krak_Hed on Feb 26, 2009 12:46 AM EST up reply actions

Rashad has been able to enjoy that luxury a lot lately.

by naturalshadow on Feb 26, 2009 2:38 AM EST up reply actions

thats what they thought when the put him in there with chuck and look what happened.

by matt on Feb 25, 2009 9:18 PM EST up reply actions

thing is jardine is great against counter strikers cause hes hard to pinpoint, against a guy with good technique thats willing to take a couple to land a couple im not so sure. that being said i hope he takes it

by connor on Feb 25, 2009 10:30 PM EST up reply actions

Jardine didn’t KO Chuck and Chuck’s chin in my opinion is not as good as Rampage’s…at least not anymore but Chuck’s chin is decent.

by Chadx23 on Feb 25, 2009 10:36 PM EST up reply actions

not saying jardine would knock him out im just saying that jardine has been known to spoil the ufc’s plans if you know what i mean.

by matt on Feb 26, 2009 12:22 AM EST up reply actions

I think Jardine got the worst incarnation of Chuck I have ever seen. He was very tentative in that fight, and it was more obvious that he was only trying to land the right hand than it was when he fought Rashad. Chuck looked 10 times better against Wandy, but then went back to the same old right hand against Rashad. I hope the Chuck that fought Rashad was a fluke, and not the one that fought Wandy. Chuck’s chin used to be able to eat punches like pizza and hardly get fazed. After years of that kind of fighting, that is no longer the case.

by naturalshadow on Feb 26, 2009 2:47 AM EST up reply actions

haha he spoils them by losing when they give him a fight to win (houston) and win when they want him to lose (forrest, chuck, possibly vera)

by AzCombat on Feb 26, 2009 2:48 AM EST up reply actions

i’m actually looking forward to this fight, it has the potential to be a good one and not as one sided as i thought it would be when i first heard about it. if rampage doesnt start checking kicks its going to be a long night for him but if he can stay clear of those kicks and fight a smart fight i think he’ll get the KO/TKO. the only way i see jardine winning is by descision however i dont see jardine being able to avoid rampages hooks for 3 rounds and if just one of them lands he’s going to be in trouble. if rampage wins i think he’ll get the next shot at rashad which personally i think could be a very good fight, if jardine wins i see him vs machida for the no1 contender spot, i do think machida deserves a shot now even though i’m not a fan of his but i see the ufc trying to stop that happening for as long as possible.

by hughes on Feb 26, 2009 11:21 AM EST up reply actions

funny how everyone is saying jadine has a glass jaw, didnt wandy ko jackson twice! I think its going to be a much better fight then everyone is predicting.

by Thebending on Feb 26, 2009 5:36 AM EST up reply actions

yeah it took more than one punch to hurt jackson, after jardine got clipped once he was hurt bad and wandy just swarmed after. jackson took what is it 20 something knees to go down. dont be a smartass

by Jared on Feb 26, 2009 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

by glass jaw, they mean if he can take a punch. And the 2 first fights between silva and rampage were i think 20 knees to the face. NO one can handle that. third fight where silva received a left hook. That’s a example of a glass jaw. hahah

by samiel on Mar 3, 2009 4:35 AM EST up reply actions

Rampage should have stayed off of Forrest and that ref in the Kos fight should have been there so he could’ve stopped the fight.. Rampage all day baby!! Jardine should get a rematch against Houston i loved that KO

by RoB on Feb 25, 2009 8:26 PM EST reply actions

Break my foot up his ASS! They bleeped it out so i thought everyone should know what he said.

by CITY BOXER on Feb 25, 2009 8:29 PM EST reply actions

i think mike swick will end up fighting possibly the winner of condit kampman, i think this because lets face it that fight is not going to a decision let alone the third round so if winning fighter takes no damage then i think that could be a posibility. chris lytle is another fighter who does not have a fight and i think carwin will win his fight if they keep it standing and he kos him we havent seen carwin in the later rounds or on the ground much plus gonzaga seems to be broke easily and gases quite early for example the werdum fight and the couture fight plus i dont like him lol and rampage by brutal ko

by TAY on Feb 25, 2009 8:29 PM EST reply actions

Does anyone else think Rampage is on a mission to get back the title, and do so fast. Because the harsh reality is he may still be going to prison and getting locked up. I have Rampage by brutal KO late in the first or early in the second.

by DownUnder on Feb 25, 2009 8:41 PM EST reply actions

he isn’t going to jail..

by RoB on Feb 25, 2009 8:54 PM EST up reply actions

he might. he pleaded guilty to one felony count of evading a police officer and driving against traffic and one misdemeanor count of driving recklessly but his sentencing isn’t until january 2010. he has to do 200 hrs community service, pay restitution, blah blah blah but he still might get jail time. probably not though.

by ActionJackson on Feb 25, 2009 9:39 PM EST up reply actions

You can do 200 hrs of community service in 5 weeks or less.

I would not be surprised if Rampage ends up doing 220-240 hours and getting no jail time and lessened restitution.

Maybe set up some fund to help troubled gang youths or something and bring a tear to the judge’s eye.

I just hope Jardine somehow gets the W so we can see machida fighting for the title, it has been long overdue!

by caveira on Feb 25, 2009 9:45 PM EST reply actions

i think he deserves to fight for the title but its not at all long overdue.

sokodjou sucks now, tito sucks now. and thiago silva was unproven to begin with, he almost got ko’d in his fight before that too by antonio mendes.

by AzCombat on Feb 26, 2009 2:42 AM EST up reply actions

machida might deserve a title shot if rampage wasnt in the picture.

u got to remember that rampage lost his belt the wrong way.

imo~ a fighter truely has to beat the other man to take the title.

and forrest didnt beat rampage~ it was a draw at best!

regardless of the score-cards this fight was too close to

hand the belt over..

and since they did~ it should have been an instant rematch.

that did not happen~ but rampage did ko wand and imo~

that win~ plus the fact that he should have fought for the title

before the wand ko~ makes rampage number#1 contender..

especially with another win over jardine..

if he loses?? machida gets the crack~ good enough deal to me.

by stinky~fingers on Feb 26, 2009 2:49 AM EST up reply actions

Jardine should change his name to the Dean of Dream, cause he is gonna get KTFO.

by DirtyML on Feb 25, 2009 10:42 PM EST reply actions

Rampage better come with a good game plan for this fight. He’s becoming more of a puncher lately and he’s not showing a well rounded game in the cage. He should mix it up with takedowns (a la gsp) to keep his opponents constantly guessing. He certainly has the know how with his wrestling and GNP.

by Fidel Cashflow on Feb 25, 2009 10:43 PM EST reply actions

I think we will se an improved Rampage, bad new for jardine who is one of those fighters that hasn’t got in rythm. Looks like a top contender one fight and a bust the next, even if the good Jardine comes out Rampage will be to fast and powerful for Jardine. And Rampage will be ready for the leg strikes. I have not seen a bad fight Rampage has been in can’t wait!!

by Beaver on Feb 26, 2009 12:39 AM EST up reply actions

I really think Machida should get a title shot soon then have Rampage fight the current title holder after. OTW Rashad gets to hand out with the title while his opponent fought a fight in between. I mean shit they were on the same card but he ducked Rampage so Rampage had to fight Jardine

I’m still picking Jardine to win this fight. All Jardine has to do is some leg kicks, more leg kicks, even more leg kicks and he will win. I don’t see a KO in this fight because I don’t think Jardine will be stupid enough to get into a fist war with Rampage. I don’t think enough people are giving Jardine his due respect. He has lost only 3 times in the UFC. Bonnar, Silva and the what I call fluke loss to Houston.

by rydinlow on Feb 26, 2009 9:07 AM EST reply actions

rampage, the best lt heavy in the world hands down, most talented fighter. if he gets his head straight, could be champ for years.

by jim jeffries on Feb 26, 2009 9:14 AM EST reply actions

Jardine gets over looked bc of two ko. The first was from an unknown(at the time) Alexander, which we all know now hits like a truck! Even know that’s all he can do, but non the less. and the second is from Silva which we all know could ko anyone and pretty much has. Jardine is a gamer that brings it every time. Plus you can’t count anyone out from the Jackson camp. There will be a good game plan in store for page so I can’t see this one being over quickly. I’m a fan of both, but am leaning towards Jardine on this one.
