Diego will use his size and strength advantage to beat up on Daddy. He has a great set up jab also and has worked with some of the best boxers in the world. Plus he’s a mad man. I feel for you Joe.

Yeah Joe is the gatekeeper, nothing more.
Marquardt had better not get caught and he’s should own Gouviea.

Kevin: Its so great to root against Koschek! Wagering money on his opponents makes it so great. I find myself screaming at the TV for him to get destroyed!
Feel bad for my boy Violentmike. Hope he didnt lose to much on Kos!

Cant believe Etim actually ko’ed someone. I never expected to see that Limp Noodle knocking anyone out! Not saying he is bad, Just see him more of a point scoring kickboxer who can occasionally finish a fight via submission!

Man, willy g got lit up hard and a big thank you to Thiago for smashing Kos. Maia-i’ve been raving about him since his GFC days. Just sick what he did. John- Terry is really coming out, very technical; he reminds of Sagat too. Also to everyone is Team Quest = New Hammerhouse?

diego’s striking looks great! Joe’s grunting for EVERY punch is the most annoying thing, i noticed it during the penn fight!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 5:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
2-0 diego.. he looks great, no fatigue after the cut. Joe is tough to finish, I’m looking for him to finish here in round 3!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 5:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
that answered a lot of questions. Diego will be a beast at 55. he would have finished most guys, Joe Daddy is tough to finish. Joe hasn’t evolved a lick in 5 years! Diego will lose to BJ in the late summer or fall!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 5:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Man joe sucks. No strategy and trying to get the crowd pumped up like he didn’t get his ass kicked, pretending to be exciting and not get cut. After this fight, i can never be a fan.
by NameNotRequired on Feb 21, 2009 5:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
dos santos looked impressive ….. his stand up is great
etim landed a sweet head kick…. joe rogan said that etim’s striking was like anderson silva’s lol!!!!
probs to diego not many ppl can stand with joe
after the kos fight i will never bet on a big favourite again!!!!

lol, did anyone see the Karo quotes on bloody elbow? he didn’t even have a script, and claims to have a high tolerance to pain pills. Only people who regularly take them have a “high tolerance.” he also says he’ll be homeless if they fine/suspend him. Man, talk about panic attacks he’ll have in skid row down in LA!! LMAO @ karo!!!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 5:55 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
this turned out to be a much better card than expected, one of the few times you get to see all fights, cant complain with only 2 decisions and 8 finishes. Only criticism i have is the koscheck fight, i think that was stopped a bit early, i think there is a possibility he could have pulled guard and recovered but who knows.
i think if silva wins against lites and is uninjured aferwards they should but together silva vs Marquard, if that fight can’t happen soon after lites then have Marquard fight maia for the no1 contender spot
by hughes on Feb 21, 2009 5:57 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
no doubt he could have pulled guard, but the rules call for flash knock outs to be stopped. He was clearly out going down. the ref made the right choice, 100%!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 6:00 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i was watching it when it first started and there where about 100 viewers and the guy who was streaming it said that he was putting a password up before too many ppl come on to the link to watch it (which would cause lagging)
so he gave the 100 viewers who was watching it at the beginning the password… i was 1 of them so thats how i got the password
by ufcaddict on Feb 21, 2009 6:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
kos does have amazing recovery but he was out and the ref acted quick (which is his job)he made a good decision
by ufcaddict on Feb 21, 2009 6:35 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i think there’s an argument either way for it, if Thiago had followed up with something there would probably be no argument. it doesnt really bother me because i didnt mind who won, i’m curious to see where kos goes now and who does he fight next

hey john, how can you watch tonight after knowing the results? I can’t do it, thats why I steamed it. If I know who wins, I have a hard time watching (any sport)!
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 5:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
the feeds i was watching were either to laggy to really watch or to terrible to watch so watching it tonight wont hurt me one bit specially when i see koscheck get knocked out i could watch it all day even though i was locked on him winning i still hate seeing top guys try and use a low ranked unknown as a rebound it isn’t cool
by randy murders on Feb 21, 2009 9:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
“rebound?” didn’t he get a great KO win in his last fight (fight for the troops?)
by kevin on Feb 21, 2009 10:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I usually dont Kevin, but dont really care about any of the fighters on the card. I like watching them fight but I am indifferent towards weather they win or lose. So it really didnt ruin the fights because, I had no emotional attachments to the match ups.
Had one of my favorites been fighting, I would never want to know the results b4 hand.
I was just watching the results because I had a lot of money invested in this card! Won pretty nice amount (by my standards of course).
i will tell you one thing, I never enjoyed an event the way I did last night. I sat home by myself watching the card, but I had PhilQny on the phone the entire time….His ju jitsu break downs of fights are amazing. He was doing a better job of breaking down the technical aspect of the fight than any mma commentator. It was truly a pleasure to have Phil on the phone during and event. Just the way he was breaking down the Mir-Lesnar fight while it was going down on unleashed b4 the event started was amazing. I learned more last night talking to phil, then I have listening to Rogan and Goldie for years!
you guys need to pick his brain when you get the chAnce…..tHE MAN KNOWS HIS STUFF bigtime!!!!

Diego will throw daddy around at will. Both have top notch conditoning as it should come down to the reach and strength advantage for the nightmare. His hands and ground skill are just to much for Joe.

they say im crazy for picking wil over nate…but im sticking with that one
im still sticking by joe daddy too…diego may maul him but i always put my money on the underdogs..cause all u need is one win from an underdog and none of the other fights matter…
from a betting standpoint anyway
but kos was the only one i was 100% sure of
damn…thats what i get for not picking the underdog

All week I have been listening to everyone tell me how Koschek was the Lock of the event. Many of you guys told me I was wasting $10 by betting it on Paulo…well that $10 turned into almost $50!
Kos refused to watch footage on his opponent and I had a feeling it was going to cost him. He expected a scared lil ju jitsu fighter to show up but he got KTFO!!!
What I have been posting all week has materialized. I specifically said, I wont bet this fight because this fight reminds me of when Jardine took the unknown hOuston Alexander lightly and got KTFO!!! Call me a prophet if you’d like!
Sorry to all the people who lost money on Koschek, but There isnt anything I wanted to see more in mma than Kos getting KTFO!!!!
War Paulo!
3 for 3 on bets so far! wait thats a Lie! I forgot a had Koschek on a 3 fight parlay. no biggie, I am getting Paid today!
Here comes Wilson with the upset!
by john on Feb 21, 2009 3:40 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I didn’t touch Kos for betting because I heard he hadn’t watched any footage of Paulo. Didn’t have the balls to back Paulo though. Nice little accumulator of Diego, Demian and Paul Kelly came through nicely for me. Pretty happy with that.
Again John, great call.

watchinf KOS get KOd is awesome..no early stoppage there…he was DONE
by newfie on Feb 21, 2009 3:32 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Kos walked straight into a brutal out-of-the-blue uppercut. He went straight down and his eyes rolled back, the ref stepped right in to stop it. Kos was pretty upset about the stoppage, felt it was too early. Rogan disagreed and praised the ref.

by wm133 on Feb 21, 2009 4:29 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
nate has already had his chance at the spider, he got his shot…there is not justification for him to jump back in front of the line just because he had a few good fights since then…
there is no reason that dude should get a shot before okami or maia..
nate had his shot, he doesnt belong in the same cage as the spider…he couldnt last 1 round….
he is like 4th in line….
okami, maia, and if bisping beats hendo then that also puts him ahead of nate…
jon fitch deserves a shot at gsp WAAYYYYYY before nate deserves a shot at anderson again
by HellaHectic on Feb 21, 2009 4:30 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Totally agree. Maia should get it first but the UFC will probably be calling for a high profile win first to justify it as he doesn’t quite have the household name yet.
Either way I would prefer to see Maia have a go as he has a real opportunity to upset “the spider” with his sick ass jits.
He could take anyone out at any given moment whereas Nate will have the same outcome 9 out of 10 fights with Anderson.

Damn it Wilson! Not only did I have a little money on you, but I really believed you were going to beat Nate! Props to Nate…I didnt see the fight yet, but finishing Willy G is very impressive!
at this point Nate has to be in line to face winner of Bisping/Hendo for #1 contender status! Unless winner of Hendo/Bisping is #1 contender. In that case, Nate cant be too far behind in the rankings.
I am not really a fan of Nates, but I respect his Gangsta! lol
by john on Feb 21, 2009 4:47 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Willy G didn’t wanna fight anymore in the late 2nd and 3d round his instincts let him down, he turned his head away and kinda let Nate go at him while covering up and throwing back..

Kelly/Mandaloniz I dont think would be considered fight of the night…….maybe ass kicking of the night. I wonder what the excuse for loss will be.
Maia is a king, I think he could submitt Anderson and sure hope he gets the chance.

Marquardt and Maia should fight with the winner guaranteed a title shot.
Maia now has the best jits in mma, IMO. Used to think it was BJ Penn, but Maia is more about finishing.
Can Maia get Anderson to the ground without incurring some serious damage is a big question. A fight with Marquardt will go a long way to answering that.
I think, right now, skill level-wise, Marquardt is the second best MW under AA. I think he’s far more well rounded than Hendo or Franklin and he is huge for the the weight class.
Despite his loss to AA he has been improving and evolving since. Even though everyone acts like AA destroyed him in that fight, he was doing very well and winning the first round before he got caught. And he’s better now. Not saying he would beat him, but he could give him a very, very competitive bout.
Maia is more of a question mark, which is why I’d love to see him fight Nate. Unbelievably high level jits. One of the only ways AA can beat beat, so he’s a good match up for him. Nate would test him on his feet big time though.

nate just keeps on impressing more and more. i cant believe his 6 combo finish that was bruce lee shit at its finest. next for nate the great is either maia or the spider

Are you on crack nate was never winning that fight with anderson, nate will get crushed by anderson if they fight again just like last time and hendo would also put a beating on nate. Beating gouveia shouldn’t give him a title shot.

I’m not sure if you were watching the same fight LG – Nate was winning that fight as he totally dominated the first round.
Mia doesn’t deserve a title shot since he has not fought a top 5 fighter yet. I agree with most – Nate vs Mia first; don’t even bother with Bisping or Hendo as both don’t stand a chance against Nate.

Nate dominated the first round with silva lololololol thats all i can say to that ridiculous statement, lay off the crack.

That was a good card overall. Maia is a bad MF’er. The best line of the night was Maia saying “I want to prove you can win fights without hurting your opponents”…This guy has skill and class.

Remember during Primetime BJ was showing everyone it was no big deal that GSP was training with other UFC fighters (Rashad, Marquardt, etc). And BJ went on to say he trains with UFC fighters too, such as Troy Mandaloniz? Yeah…well, if BJ keeps training with “Rude Boy”, Kenny has nothing to worry about. BJ’s ego would never let someone half decent to step into his camp and push him to be better.
Someone should make a video of all of BJ’s current training partners compare to GSP’s, you know, to counter BJ’s bias videos he posts on his website. I would say this to BJ in his forum, but I was banned for suggesting BJ concentrate on his conditioning instead of GSP’s greasing after his lack luster performance.
Nice face Troy, you got pwned.

Have you seen Wilson’s kicks? I would avoid those too. Nate had the perfect plan and it paid off.
That was the best Nate I’ve seen to date.

You know just how bad an upset is by listening to the commentators. They just kept throwing praise toward Kos and then it was over. However, that stoppage was definitely way too early.

They really should have a rule in the UFC that prevents people with serious mental problems not be allowed to compete in their events. It’s painfully obvious that Deigo Sanchez has severe mental problems! The drooling “YES!” as he entered the show was a turning point.
UFC… it’s not cool putting these frail minds in combat sports. Pysch evals now!

1)Koscheck needs to watch tapes on his opponents
2) Dos Santos is real deal
3) Maia will be world champion he will submit A Silva
4) Sanchez has to improve alot before fighing guys like Sherk BJ or even Floprian at 155
5) Great card

Maia hasn’t faced a top 5 middleweight yet, wow this site has alot of bandwagon jumpers, maia doesn’t make it out of the first round with silva guaranteed.

improve? improve what? he looked great for somone who cut 40 pounds in 2 months. I think he has all the right tools but just needs to get a couple of fights in the division.

I don’t know if you remember but florian finished joe in first round
Diego needs to be more explosive to hang with top dogs in 155
by lukasz on Feb 22, 2009 1:36 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You have somewhat of a point, but do expect Joe Stevenson to not improve and let himself get taken down in the first every fight? And plus it took BJ Penn two rounds to take down Joe so does that make Florian better than Penn.

Wow 6 finishes in round one, what a card, can’t remember a card with so many first round finishes. Kos got sloppy after his amazing ko in his last fight, IMO getting sloppy as he could see his opponent had lousy stand up and paid for it he kind of pulled a GSP at ufc 69.

Sanchez looked at an all time crazy in this event. I’ve never seen him look so off like some mental patient.

What’s going to happen to Koschecks number 4 ranking? He just lost to a nobody. Serra wasn’t even top 10, t(ko)s gsp and then he was number 1, is this guy going to be ranked above Koscheck now?
