UFC 95 weigh in results for 'Sanchez vs Stevenson' (Video update!)

The official weigh-in event for UFC 95: "Sanchez vs. Stevenson" took place today (Friday, Feb. 20) from Dominion Theatre (268-269 Tottenham Court Road) in London, England.
All 20 fighters set to compete on the card made their respective marks on the scale without incident. In fact, it was a rather subdued event, which was void of any real fireworks or final pre-fight shenanigans.
Former welterweight contender Diego Sanchez is perhaps the biggest story, making his first trip down from 170 pounds to lightweight a successful one. "Nightmare" looks like he belongs at 155, too.
Here are the complete UFC 95 weigh in results:
155 lbs.: Diego Sanchez (156) vs. Joe Stevenson (155)
170 lbs.: Dan Hardy (170) vs. Rory Markham (170)
185 lbs.: Nate Marquardt (185) vs. Wilson Gouveia (185)
185 lbs.: Demian Maia (184) vs. Chael Sonnen (185)
170 lbs.: Josh Koscheck (170) vs. Paulo Thiago (169)
155 lbs.: Brian Cobb (155) vs. Terry Etim (156)
265 lbs.: Junior dos Santos (239) vs. Stefan Struve (240)
265 lbs.: Neil Grove (263) vs. Mike Ciesnolevicz (235)
155 lbs.: Per Eklund (155) vs. Evan Dunham (154)
170 lbs.: Paul Kelly (169) vs. Troy "Rude Boy" Mandaloniz (168)
Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.
Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the tape-delayed main card action on fight night (Saturday, Feb. 21), which is slated to air at 9 p.m. ET on Spike TV from The O2 Arena in London.
The latest quick updates of the live action will begin to flow earlier than that right here in the afternoon. So consider yourself warned when it comes to spoilers.
It’s going to be a good night of fights so don’t miss it. And remember to check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight UFC 95 coverage you can handle.

Anyone see it live? I’m curious to how Diego looked? As in was he sickly or did he cut down the right way and look strong?

Anyone go to the weigh-ins? I’m wondering how Diego looks at 155. He’s going to be pushing 165-170 at fight time! Joe’s going to be in trouble.
by VNDK8 on Feb 20, 2009 11:47 AM EST reply actions
WOW, Diego looks friggin huge!! He will destroy Joe, and after BJ beats Kenny, we’ll all be in for a great treat!! Diego vs. BJ will be one of the best fights at 155 ever!! you heard it here first guys!! Best ever!!!

I’ve been saying the same thing. I can’t wait for BJ vs Diego at 155. That will be a war!
by BNF on Feb 20, 2009 11:54 AM EST up reply actions
That is an old pic of Diego. That is not from today.
UFC.com does not yet have the weigh ins up yet, but I am really excited to see how he looks. I have been waiting until watching the weigh ins before betting on anyone besides Kos.
I also want to see what this Brian “Corn on the” Cobb looks like. He’s 5’11" and Etim is 6’1". I like Etim, but know nothing about Cobb except he is on like a 10 fight win streak for small promotions, and most of his wins are by decision.
Marquardt/Gouviea in my opinion is the toughest fight for me to bet on. I lean towards Nate and Team Jackson over ATT because they have been on the DOWN as of late with the exception of Thiago Alvez. I am waiting to see if I can get Nate at -250 or better, or Gouviea at +300 or better. I see this fight ending with Wilson over throwing a punch and Nate catching him with a big counter and follow up on it. I think Wilson’s best chance at winning is with 1 punch, or better yet, on the ground. I am starting to think that ATT is overrated.
Paul Kelly seems to be a safe bet over Troy since Troy hasnt’ fought in 15 months. The thing that has me being slightly hesitant is that Kelly is short and stocky and I heard they both want to keep the fight standing. I’d prefer Kelly take him down and pound him out cuz Troy got no ground game.
Kos/Diego/Etim/Kelly is a parlay that I like, but I need to wait and to some more research on Cobb….

I agree you should do your homework more if you are going to be betting. Cobb is on a 10 win fight streak with 7 wins by sub, 1 by TKO and ONLY 2 by decision. Dude is a good fighter and I am putting my money on him.
by Kung Foo on Feb 20, 2009 12:09 PM EST up reply actions
WOW, looks like you did just as much “homework” as me. You googled his name and looked at his record.
I am talking about going on YouTube and watching some of his fights. Do you even know the full names of the organizations Cobb has fought in???
Paulo Thiago is either 10-0 or 7-0 depending on the site you look at. That means he too is on a 10 fight win streak. HOWEVER, I watched a couple of his fights on YouTube and he is NO MATCH for Kos. PS I hate Kos also.
Also, I bet on every event and make my picks public on this site. Made out great last event with Cain, and a Cain/Lauzon parlay. How did you do?? I don’t even know who you are. So I will continue to do “my homework” and win money on UFC events and you can continue to google their records and place your bets. BY THE WAY, what is Cobb’s reach?? I need to know how big of a reach advantage Etim will have. Also, the 7 subs don’t scare me cuz Etim has solid BJJ.
And I am wating to see the weigh ins as well. You can learn a lot from them.

K Foo, in my original post about Cobb, I meant to say most wins by submission, don’t know what happened there, and that was probably what you were pointing out… thanks,
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 2:43 PM EST up reply actions
The ripping was still meant to be there.
His homework still consisted of googling him…
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 3:44 PM EST up reply actions
LOL. No. Once again you are wrong. I know the guy,and some of the people he trains with. Hence your google assumption is wrong, and even if I did “google” him. So what? I am STILL right. Thank you very much.

Why do you think ATT is overrated? I am starting to think they are just about to expolde. Brown has the 145 title, Alves will beat GSP, Gouveia will have his best year ever in 09. Jackson’s camp has tons of controversy now with all the vasaline. Jardine is going to lose, Huerta is an “actor”, Rashad is going to lose whether it be Machida or Rampage and GSP is going to get KTFO!
by BNF on Feb 20, 2009 12:16 PM EST up reply actions
i gotta agree with VM on jacksons camp being on top, ATT has the 145 title for now, and saing alves will beat gsp is flat out ridiculous gsp gets better and better and better everytime he fights the only way alves wins is by KO and gsp will not be knocked out again hell he probably wont ever lose again unless its at 185
by randy murders on Feb 20, 2009 12:20 PM EST up reply actions
you forgot to mention that the spider will still be the king of the octagon in 09… but i agree with everything else..
by jimmy on Feb 20, 2009 12:20 PM EST up reply actions
GSP has proven he can be KOed and Alves has proven he can KO people. Please don’t give me the “ridiclous” comment just cus you love GSP. Alves has been improving and I would argue more rapidly than GSP in the last 2 years. We all know what each has to do to win and Alves last 3 fights have been perfect preperation for his fight with GSP!
by BNF on Feb 20, 2009 12:33 PM EST up reply actions
GSP is not same fighter fought serra first time, yes he has improved more than alves, because he is stronger, faster, and more athletic. GSP will take apart alves.

For a tough guy, Diego sure does make some funny baby faces.
by shitleTOT.com on Feb 20, 2009 2:16 PM EST reply actions
I was there at the weigh ins… Etim looked like he was going to snap! Sanchez looked less ill than Stevenson but looked really cut too. Struve looked like a giant and Neil Grove looked MASSIVE! Fairly tame response from the crowd for pretty much everyone except Paul Kelly, Grove and Dan Hardy.
BJ Penn was there for ‘Rude Boy’
by Paul on Feb 20, 2009 2:23 PM EST reply actions
oh thats nice…BJ just likes leaving so he can throw himself coming home parties for no good reason
by McArthur on Feb 20, 2009 2:43 PM EST up reply actions
Thanks for the insight. I can’t even find pictures of the weigh ins…….
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 2:44 PM EST up reply actions
There are only 4 fights I care about watching and am picking…
Diego
Nathan
Demian
Josh
by raff on Feb 20, 2009 3:28 PM EST reply actions
Yeah Kevin I’m with you and think bj and diego will be an amazing fight, bj is far more skilled than diego but diego has that crazy cardio that could pose big problems in a 5 round fight. If diego pulls a sean sherk with bj he’ll lose, I think bj would own him in a 3 round fight but a title fight, diego has a good chance at wearing him down. Bj looked awefull in his fight with georges and was surprised at the how he didn’t even seem to try sub attempts or to scramble, it was weird to watch I know bj is better than that. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch some time in the distant future, but doubt it will happen.
by raff on Feb 20, 2009 3:37 PM EST reply actions
We’ll see BNF if thiago ko’s georges, both looked good to me and have looked really good over there last three opponents. Georges is more well rounded than thiago and seems to come up with really good game plans, but it just takes one good shot to end the fight and thiago is the guy who could do it. Its a tough fight to call and I can’t wait to see it. Part of me wants to see thiago win because if georges wins who’s next for him to fight? Sometimes I get tired of these invincible fighters like fedor, anderson and georges and would like to see someone kick there ass’s convincingly. I’m sure there nice guys but upsets are good for the sport and I usually like to see the under dog win.
by raff on Feb 20, 2009 3:47 PM EST reply actions
with 1 more win I believe Mike Swick will be next for WW title…it’ll have to be against a top 5 (10) though which will prove to be a problem seeing as how KOS, Fitch, and Swick are on the same circle jerk squad
by McArthur on Feb 20, 2009 4:19 PM EST up reply actions
After watching GSP and Alves for a while I dont see how the likely outcome is GSP getting KO’d. Karo had VERY nice 1st round against Alves and as we know suffered a premature stoppage against him in the 2nd. I think we can expect more take downs and GnP from inside and outside Alves’ guard. Good luck to them both. Btw, were talking at least a 4in reach adv for GSP.
How come no one else see’s Junior as a bit of a “lock” against Struve? What a massive strenght and kickboxing advantage.
Hey V.Mike, do you still think your parlay is safe or are you having 2nd thoughts about Etim’s takedown defense against Cobb?
