markham and dos santos look shredded!!!
struve is really tall as well thats going to be awkward for dos santos but i still see him getting ko’d
by ufcaddict on Feb 20, 2009 4:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I really want to see that Struve kid fight. I hope it makes the TV portion. 21 years old, 20-2, and 6’11" with good subs. I imagine that kid could catch you in a triangle from anywhere.

Kelly (lock of the night)

Per Eklund / Brian Cobb / Kos parlay paying out at close to 5 to 1. That is not too shabby, and I will have think about it…. However, I am betting the “unkown” becuase I only know what I researched on Evan Dunham and Brian Cobb. Im starting to think Cobbs wrestling should be enough to win a decisoin against Etim
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 4:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I starting to really like a straight up bet on Per as well. Dunham is taking the fight on two weeks notice and had a fight just a few weeks ago. He is confident in his ground skills against Per, but Per is the more experienced, more well rounded fighter. At -170, I’m starting to like it.
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 4:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I like Paul Kelly alot as well, but I got Kos as the much bigger “lock” of the night. I only have Kelly one of my 2 parlays so far.
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 4:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
normally Kos would be lock of the night, but I cant award that title to him because I know nOTHING about his opponent.
I know what Kelly and rudeboy both bring to the table and i know that Kelly is going to smash him! Grind out a decision or TKO him on the ground! No question in my mind. Match ups like this are great for me to analyze and bet on because I am not biased towards or against either fighter. I am indifferent so it makes me see the match up clearly….and I see Rudeboy getting POUNDED ON!!!!!! THats why I label Kelly as my lock of the night!
by john on Feb 20, 2009 5:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I am not joking either. I think maia is going to win by KO or TKO. listening to some recent wanderlei interviews and all he does is RAVE about how heavy Maia’s hands and elbows are.
Strikes are the last thing that Sonnan is preparing for and I thin he will get Caught. Maybe maia knocks him down, takes his back and chokes him out in the end. But either way, Maia’s hands will play a part in this fight
by john on Feb 20, 2009 5:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Wanderlei is his friend and training partner i wouldn’t take that too seriously.. Maia has looked really bad in the standup and i doubt that he’s gonna be technical enough to catch him in the standup even if he hits hard..
by RoB on Feb 20, 2009 7:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
No lie John, but I have thinking Maia by KO if he doesn’t get the takedown in the first round. It is a real possibility. Chael only likes to strike from the outside. And if you train striking with Wanderlei, you are not scared to mix it up inside, especially when a takedown should be Maia’s main goal.
John, I watched a few of Paulo Thiago’s fights on You Tube. I call Kos the lock! But I do like Paul Kelley a lot as well, like I’ve been saying, or should I say, like we’ve been saying!
What do you think about Per Eklund? And I’m not kidding… LOL
by ViolentMike on Feb 20, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
vm: Regretfully I have to admit that I havent seen enough footage on Eklund to form an oppinion.
break him down for me, if you have the time!

I hope that D-bag gets knockout out of this century. But as much as I wish I don’t see that happening. The guy just bugs me.

Don’t like him but he will definently be whooping on him.
by JoJo on Feb 20, 2009 3:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
he looks pretty shredded at 155lbs i guess the weight cut wasnt a hassle i hope it doesnt show during the fight.
by NM on Feb 20, 2009 3:12 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
He looks good. Completely ripped as a LW.
by Freddy on Feb 20, 2009 3:13 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Wow diego looks shredded, he looks like he has next to no body fat, I say he owns joe.
by raff on Feb 20, 2009 3:18 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
he does look a bit pale hopefully the weight cut will not affect him.
by matthew on Feb 20, 2009 3:27 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
he looks good at 155 hes not all that pale and his veins aren’t showing that bad
by randy murders on Feb 20, 2009 3:31 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think he looks pale because he was training in Tahoe in the middle of winter.

It’ll be fun to see Stevenson wreck this wacko tomorrow night. I’m assuming Diego’s loading up on Stevia right now…
by GG on Feb 20, 2009 3:27 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
My prediction Sanchez by TKO in round 2.
by DealPlayground.com on Feb 20, 2009 3:43 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
same i think diego will dummy him in the first than finish him in the second, also a shredded gouveia is no joke. marquardt better have a fine ass gameplan or its lights out

on the latest mma live episode the main guy said 5 months ago diego wieghed 193 if thats the case that means he would cut to 170.
in my opinion diego doesnt look right physically at 155, time will tell if it was a smart move or not
by dia mette on Feb 20, 2009 3:56 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Well hell Kenny sometimes looks like a concentration camp prisoner at 155 but he’s done fine. For sure it can’t be good for the body long term but they only get down to that level of body fat for about 2 weeks at a time I’d say. I’d be more worried if they were just trying to make it by shedding water weight, that’s bad for the internal organs.
We’ll see, hopefully he can perform well at the lower weight.
by RobH86 on Feb 20, 2009 4:25 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Ya dia I caught that too. 38 pounds is A LOT to cut/lose, granted that is over a 5 month span but that was when he was still in the 170 division so his whole lifestyle is different now.
Personally I think he looks great and huge. Like someone said before his veins arent really that visible which is a sign of dehydration so hopefully he did the cut smart/correctly.
by WB on Feb 21, 2009 2:01 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Wow, Diego is shredded like me now!!!!!!
by El Mexicutioner, formerly The Mexicutioner on Feb 20, 2009 3:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Take notice. Diego will be a beast at 155. Without a dought he will fight for the 155 title. Too Bad Joe has to be the one to fight him after two looses in a row to the top two guys in this weight class. Hopefully UFC brass will take that into consideration.
by Mark on Feb 20, 2009 3:58 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I think diego looks a bit thin at 155, especially in the pic of him and stevenson facing off.
by Fidel Cashflow on Feb 20, 2009 4:03 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
i agree. he looks to thin for his frame, He needs to go back up to 170lb. I dont understand this move to lightweight anyway.
but he does look healthy at all.
by Salatious on Feb 20, 2009 4:21 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He looks great! Keep in mind, he is going to rehydrate and get back up to 63-68 come fight night. This is his natural weight class.
by Brand0 on Feb 20, 2009 4:33 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Diego did explain the move. He said that after the Fitch fight he realised that he just wasn’t big and strong enough to compete in that division, he was one of the naturally smaller fighters and skill alone was ot going to get him the belt. Moving down in weight would make him the Fitch of that division, and he would not have the disadvantage of being the smaller fighter. This obviously gives him a better chance of having a belt around his waist. It’s not difficult to understand, Bisping was in he same stuation.
by Ade on Feb 21, 2009 5:18 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think Diego said that he walks at 179lbs and it will be the first time that he gonna be ‘’the big guy’’ in his fight. I don’t remember where I saw this, so I may be wrong.
by gloom on Feb 20, 2009 5:00 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
they said on MMA Live that he walks around at 193….thats heavy for a welter, now hes cutt to 155? I call BS. I think Diego walks around at 180-185 tops…..well maybe not didnt he start out as a middleweight? I’m confused now…..
by Chadx23 on Feb 20, 2009 6:12 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Is it just me, or does Deigo have a Sacramento Kings logo on his shorts?
Anyways, Diego is going to make Stevenson look foolish. Diego is real frickin good when he’s on, and I think LW is gonna be a real good place for him.
Diego by TKO – Rnd 2

He’s tight with the Maloof’s. So yes, it’s a Kings sponsorship.
by MMAmania on Feb 20, 2009 5:35 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Diego will dominate 155.
Can he beat BJ? Don’t know, but he will probably own the division other than BJ.
by Bennie Blanco from the Bronx on Feb 20, 2009 6:30 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Trust me BJ is having Nightmares! Diego is fighter that is always putting the heat on his opponent much like GSP does and if BJ can’t get him down in the first two round Diego keep coming as hard as the first and we all know BJ does not have the endurance to keep the pace for five.
by Beaver on Feb 21, 2009 7:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think Diego’s overrated. I don’t see him dominating this class in the long run. There’s a lot of talent in the light weight division, I don’t see him simply bulldozing his way through.
I’d love to see a rematch with Florian. Florian’s an entirely different fighter now.
by justagirl on Feb 20, 2009 11:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Diego was a top 5 in his division, never been hurt stopped o even got close t being submitted. Took Koschek to a descision when he was only 50% and also took Fitch to a descision. These are the only two fights he has lost. How is he overrated, and why would he not dominate this weight class now that he is one of the biggest guys in it and as talented as the best of them. Just because you dislike someone it doesn’t make them overrated,I dislike Koschek, but I still respect his talent as a fighter
