where’s Dana?? And where’s his blog for that matter??
by McArthur on Feb 19, 2009 1:45 PM EST reply actions
Yea I don’t think Dana cares about this fight/event; he’s just throwing us mma fans a bone here to hold us over till March 7th.
by O damn he got caught on Feb 19, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions
hell even that white guy in the background looks like he’s about to fall asleep and hit the floor; he’s bored as hell.

That looks like Lorenzo’s long lost twin

looks like he got lost on his way to a liquor store and found this press conference to me. That BTW is how Chris Leben became a fighter, he was actually looking for a bar and stumbled into a gym.
by O damn he got caught on Feb 19, 2009 1:58 PM EST up reply actions
LMAO OD!!! Some english dude from the streets Dana got to cover his shift….looks like he is just about to sneeze
by McArthur on Feb 19, 2009 1:59 PM EST up reply actions
I don’t think Dana does the blogs when the event’s not on PPV in the US. He didn’t do a blog for 89 either.
This card is free and I’m excited for some of the fights.
by R-Dizzle on Feb 19, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions
he did one for UFC 93 in Ireland though….it sucked but he did it…don’t you remember the 5 minute pan shot of the inside of the plane cockpit
by McArthur on Feb 19, 2009 2:09 PM EST up reply actions
I’m exited for this event, and not just because its free! Diego is one of my favorites, and kos has been beating the piss out of guys. Nate/goveia ia a good fight too!
I can’t believe BJ Penn picks Joe Stevenson to win!
by kevin on Feb 19, 2009 2:11 PM EST up reply actions
McArthur that’s Marshall Zelaznik…He’s American too lol. But yeah he looks polluted.
by RobH86 on Feb 19, 2009 2:15 PM EST up reply actions
Spot on…He got snared with a photo like this one at 93. Funny pic.
by RobH86 on Feb 19, 2009 2:21 PM EST up reply actions
Kevin – I agree about Diego, he has a lot of potential at WW and if he can carry that into 155 he’ll be very tough to beat.
I think this will be a great card and even better that it’s free
by Arnold on Feb 19, 2009 2:22 PM EST up reply actions
theres no blog because even dana thinks this is a s**t card…
by brendan on Feb 19, 2009 2:25 PM EST up reply actions
Then Brendan go comment on some other news. Nobody cares if you think this is a terrible card because the honest truth is it is not at all. The people may not have titles around their waist but I can tell you they’ll all bring their A game and give us some amazing fights. You don’t realize that when you cut on a card not only are you bad mouthing the amazing Joe Silva for making such great match ups but your also bad mouthing the fighters themselves. Well I for one know you are wrong and that these are all great fighters and a great card for the money its costing me. Grow up
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Feb 19, 2009 2:40 PM EST up reply actions
I agree this is an awesome card. Some people think complaining gives the illusion of intelligience. It doesn’t by the way. Did BJ really pick Stevenson to win? I think Sanchez is a future champ.
by brandongk4 on Feb 19, 2009 3:03 PM EST up reply actions
Bj is just mad because Diego said he couldn’t believe BJ was gassed after one round when he fought GSP. BJ is just running his mouth again. He is def. becoming the champ at that!
by brac on Feb 19, 2009 3:10 PM EST up reply actions
yeah he did, he thinks the cut will be too much!
by kevin on Feb 19, 2009 3:11 PM EST up reply actions
And I’ll let you know there is no bad blood here Brandon. If the card does suck this Saturday I will apologize and admit that this card sucks :).
by Cogito Ergo Sum on Feb 19, 2009 3:13 PM EST up reply actions
Kevin: I cant believe Coutuure picked stevenson cause he is the better striker and wrestler. I got Diego!
No video blog cause Dana was probably in MOntreal all week fixing that Canadian mess!
by john on Feb 19, 2009 4:05 PM EST up reply actions
you can tell Couture is getting old now, cause Diego is easily the better striker with a good reach on Joe.. he’s gonna dominate everywhere i’d put everything i own on this fight that Diego’s gonna win! he’s that much better..
by RoB on Feb 19, 2009 4:22 PM EST up reply actions
Agree Rob. Diego is going to smash Joe. Joe is garbage.
by jay on Feb 19, 2009 4:34 PM EST up reply actions
diego looks HUGE next to Joe daddy!
Randy is senile! Diego is going to TKO joe!
btw, Overeem vs. Bojansky under k-1 rules in March!
by john on Feb 19, 2009 5:34 PM EST up reply actions
good fight.. the battle of Holland! hope Overeem knocks him out..
by RoB on Feb 19, 2009 5:41 PM EST up reply actions
Maybe not the sexiest names, but a good solid fight card nonetheless. I’m looking forward to the Marquardt/Gouveia fight. An impressive win by either of these guys would put them probably one more win from a title shot. It’s the dog days of winter, and a free event Saturday night might be just enough to get me through the week.
by CL on Feb 19, 2009 5:52 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, it lacks the big names, but this card is going to provide tons of action and entertainment.
I just cant wait to watch Maia grapple!
by john on Feb 19, 2009 6:26 PM EST up reply actions
Let’s just be honest, names do not always make the fights exciting. The last fight night hands down was more exciting overall than UFC 94. Lyoto/Silva was exciting and an awesome KO. The fight just did not live up to the build up and excitement. The fighters came to bring it at fight night though.
by halljam2 on Feb 19, 2009 11:51 PM EST up reply actions
I think Diego looks a little sick or something. I don’t know what it is but it doesn’t look right. I will be surprised if he does well. These pictures and video footage of him kind of tells me otherwise. I’d like to see him make some waves in the lightheavyweight division. I was reading somewhere that Joe wasn’t a top 10 lightweight. Thought that was kind of odd since he only lost to like the top 2. And it wasn’t back to back. He had a submission win over Tibau.
by RyanHobbs on Feb 20, 2009 2:10 AM EST up reply actions
joe is soft, he never looks real cut at 155 so yea he looks thicker, Diego is a much bigger guy so he is def gonna look skinny.
by Crowls on Feb 20, 2009 2:06 PM EST up reply actions
the dude in the middle looks like one of the guys farted and he’s super disappointed about it.
Diego is gonna be a Monster at 155, takes this easy
by Crowls on Feb 19, 2009 5:11 PM EST up reply actions
damn diego looks scronny hopefully he isnt a little bone wrack at 155.
by Jared on Feb 19, 2009 7:31 PM EST up reply actions
I agree. I thought that he looked a little scronny. Could just be the fact that Joe is all tan and Diego isn’t? I know that sounds stupid but a smiling tan guy always looks healthier than a non tan unhappy fella.
by RyanHobbs on Feb 20, 2009 2:12 AM EST up reply actions
Joe has a little smile on his face in all these pre-fight pictures, while Diego looks focused and determined. Coupled with Joe talking extensively about all the little factors that could affect Diego having his first fight at 155, I think Joe is kinda scared of Diego. Diego seems to be on a mission and Joe doesn’t seem very confident. I’ve got a feeling Diego is going to dominate.
by GregC on Feb 19, 2009 1:49 PM EST reply actions
Yeah i get that feeling too. Diego is a tough dude and should be a force at 155.
by stevo on Feb 19, 2009 1:52 PM EST up reply actions
Probably the thought of losing 3 in a row for Joe. Thats gotta be in the back of his head. Then Diego being a beast has to add to everything else.
by JV on Feb 19, 2009 1:54 PM EST up reply actions
It won’t be 2 in a row. He actually beat Gleison Tibau right after losing to BJ. He’ll have to be given an easy opponent after this though to prevent being cut.
by brandongk4 on Feb 19, 2009 3:06 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, and he was on his way to losing to Tibau. I wish Nick Diaz could make 155, he destroyed Tibau.
by Ixian on Feb 19, 2009 6:10 PM EST up reply actions
Diego is going to kill Stevenson
by El Mexicutioner, formerly The Mexicutioner on Feb 19, 2009 1:51 PM EST reply actions
No doubt.
Can anyone confirm that the weigh in starts at 11:00am EST tomorrow morning (Friday). Also, does anyone know if it’ll be televised on SPIKE, or if it’s available at any websites?
by kg on Feb 19, 2009 1:58 PM EST up reply actions
That guy between them looks like Johnny Sac from The Sopranos.

anyone see the vid of the press conference on UFC.com? Sanchez looks ILL!!!
by Danny on Feb 19, 2009 1:53 PM EST reply actions
literally ill?? or cool ill??? shit I’m only 33 and I don’t know what ill means… ;)
by McArthur on Feb 19, 2009 2:03 PM EST up reply actions
Haha, I didn’t see the video yet, but I’m sure Diego is hating life right now. I don’t care how many times he’s practiced cutting to 155, it has to suck right now. Especially when he has to stand in front of a group of people and answer questions.
But still, WAR Diego!
by R-Dizzle on Feb 19, 2009 2:06 PM EST up reply actions
cool ill! like he’s ready to put it on him.. and that is exactly what he’s gonna do.. I heard Joe daddy saying that Diego wasn’t going to stand with him like he was scared of Joe’s boxing or something.. hahahaha! Diego is gonna outbox, outsmart, outtechnique him everywhere!
by RoB on Feb 19, 2009 2:10 PM EST up reply actions
I’m 33 too, and remember people saying ‘ill’ when Run DMC did We Be Illin’. I guess it’s making a comeback. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I’m sweatin’ the fly honies in the club.
by PW on Feb 19, 2009 4:10 PM EST up reply actions
Nah man, you can’t sweat them, you gotta let them sweat YOU…lol
by Diceman on Feb 19, 2009 10:34 PM EST up reply actions
lmao i watched it and i think he means literally ill as in sick…his head looked like it was too big for his body lol
by "I came, I saw, I conquered" on Feb 19, 2009 2:05 PM EST reply actions
eh? you act like thats somehow a different feature than before??
by O damn he got caught on Feb 19, 2009 2:09 PM EST up reply actions
hahaha your right OD its just more prominent then in previous instances…still i hope he comes 100% and isn’t hurting from the weight cut, traveling etc…cause he could be a beast at 155
by "I came, I saw, I conquered" on Feb 19, 2009 2:32 PM EST up reply actions
His face looks super sucked in during the picture and conference. I think this cut will play a factor but he will get it together. I truly don’t think Joe is top 5 (maybe not even top 10) in the UFC lightweight division.
by halljam2 on Feb 19, 2009 11:56 PM EST up reply actions
He’s tall for a LW. He used to come down from 179 to WW supposedly. That’s a huge LW.
by RobH86 on Feb 19, 2009 2:20 PM EST up reply actions
Correction, he says he used to walk around at 172-173.
by RobH86 on Feb 19, 2009 2:55 PM EST up reply actions
He’s going to be shredded at the weigh ins and look huge come fight time during the stare down. Just imagine training against people going full force with only some of his strength due to the weight cut, focusing more on technique and then after weighins gets all his strength back along with the enhanced technique. Scary.
by Ixian on Feb 19, 2009 6:17 PM EST up reply actions
As much as I hate to pick a winner
Ima say Diego by ko in 1st rd
Or daddy guillotine choke in upset
by phenomenal angel on Feb 19, 2009 2:18 PM EST reply actions
yep, he’s defintetly lost some size.. hope that won’t affect him too much
by RoB on Feb 19, 2009 2:56 PM EST up reply actions
Anyone catch Gouveia saying that this is the second time he fights in the UK, the first time he fought in England and this time he fights in London… :D
by Lester the Pimp on Feb 19, 2009 2:36 PM EST reply actions
Diego looked pretty slim and that means to me that he prob. cut the weight in the right way. If the weight cut went right and he’s 100%, Bid Daddy is in for a beating!
by brac on Feb 19, 2009 3:13 PM EST reply actions
I totally agree with this. He looks really good. He’s definitely the #1 contender if he pounds Stevenson the way we think he will
by Ethan on Feb 19, 2009 5:56 PM EST up reply actions
I’m looking forward to this card, sanchez owns jaddy, nate is one of my fav’s hope he dominates.
by nathan on Feb 19, 2009 4:37 PM EST reply actions
nate vs wilson should b main event,,,the winner of that should face winner of hendo and bisping fo number 1 contender
by juggalomike on Feb 19, 2009 4:54 PM EST reply actions

read in the las vegas journal.that station casinos owes 5 billion and would file for bankruptcy by march…s & p downgraded its rating to cc i think…..i dont even think what the ufc earns—around 300 million a year would help station casinos..so i think the fertitas would just sell the UFC…bye bye UFC…i hope affliction buys it thou
by ufc on Feb 19, 2009 7:05 PM EST reply actions
Diego’s lookin pretty lean/ripped up so I’d say that he takes this fight via body shots
by stevia on Feb 19, 2009 7:15 PM EST reply actions
Yeah I also thought that diego looked worse for wear, very pale and drawn…..hopefully it wont affect his performance on the night!!
Yeah Iv been to England now London……lol how can you get that so wrong!! Iv been to New York and Vegas now im off to the States lol!!!!!!

mo I find it funny people were saying the same thing about georges at the weigh ins how awefull he looked, and look at how that fight went.
by raff on Feb 20, 2009 12:14 AM EST reply actions
Im not saying he will lose?? Im simply saying he didnt look well, and that I hope it does not affect his performance?

I guarantee we will see KO’s and tko’s. Diego doesn’t look skinny, he looks hungry!
