i agree he had odds like that when he faced Macdonald and he ended up winning
if you break this fight down i think they are very evenly matched
both have great stand up and bjj maybe marquardt is the better wrestler maybe that will be a factor

i think markham will be a good bet … i think he can win although i dont want him to the bet looks appealing

How often do you see an event where all five favorites on the main card win? There is always an upset or two. Clearly, I like Gouveia as a dog here, and if Sonnen can keep it standing he has a chance at the upset as well.

Joe daddy +250 fighting someone who’s fighting at 155 in the UFC for the 1st time! How many times (Vera) have we seen favorites drop down in weight class and look awful!
Joe is the best underdog to bet on, or at least Sanchez is the worst Fav to be on.

Yeah I’ve put a few quid on daddy. That’s a good bet IMO.

I like Sonnen, someones gonna beat Damien “one trick pony” Maia very soon. Could see Chael doing it, if he keeps it standing for any length of time.

i really dont see any of the underdogs winning here… parlay!
by brendan on Feb 16, 2009 12:46 PM EST up reply actions
Sanchez is the best fav to bet on.. he’s got about a 99,9% chance of winning his fight! Diego is one of the most professional and hardest workers in the game the weight cut won’t be that big of a problem..
by RoB on Feb 16, 2009 1:33 PM EST up reply actions
And todays winner for the sweeping statement award goes to… Rob.
No one is that certain to win a mma fight, esp this one!!!
Joe Daddy is no mug and strong for a 155er. I think its a tough fight to call.

im definetly betting GOuveai and Maia and probably Diego!
I gotta put $10 on Paul Thiago to win $45! Just for the fact that Kos hasnt seen this kid fight! This smells like when Jardine got destroyed by an unkown HOuston Alexander!
by john on Feb 16, 2009 4:42 PM EST up reply actions
Thanks.. I mean what i said and you’re gonna see what happens when they fight.. the fighter is gonna win over the guy that is in there trying to fight
by RoB on Feb 16, 2009 4:45 PM EST up reply actions
seriously john??
unlike jardine kos can take a punch he survived 3 rounds with GSP and alves
kos can also dictate where the fight goes as he has the superior wrestling and great boxing
i will tell you now there is no chance kos can lose!!! it will just not happen
by ufcaddict on Feb 16, 2009 6:21 PM EST up reply actions
I know Kos wont lose, but Its only $10, and I love to root against Kos. I will be shocked if I win this bet, but the odds are attractive, and my hate for Kos makes me want to do it!
I will say that it is basically throwing money out of the window.
by john on Feb 16, 2009 7:03 PM EST up reply actions
lol he is a hated character but i’m a admitted fan of his
it’s a worthy bet if your betting sensible on the other matches… do you bet on all matches (under card and main card) or just the main card??
i just bet on every fight (main card and under card)at UFN 17 and i was shocked when i found out i only got 2 wrong!! i made a good amount of cash so i put half of it away and i’m betting the other half on the main card of this event
i’m fairly new to betting on ufc cards thats why i get so pumped for every card now

It always changes for me. If I really like odds on certain fights, I will bet them big straight, then bet some other fights at smaller amounts, and then i will throw in a few small parlays.
When I am not thrilled over any of the odds given on fights, I bet every single fight on the card straight for small amounts.
It always changes for me. I remember times where I didnt bet any of the big fights at all, and just bet undercard fights.
I dont have a set system….sometimes I bet who I think will win, but sometimes I will just bet for who has the best value (which is really what you are supposed to do).

I watched video on Paulo Thiago and all I can say is “Good Luck” and I am risking alot of money (especially compared to what I typically wager) on Kos. Even if everything is going wrong for him, he still has his wrestling to fall back on. I think he takes Paulo down and just pounds him out. I usually left the “big” favorites alone. Last event I made some $ on Cain who I had as the lock to win. In this event, I got Kos as the lock, and I will not let the odds scare me away.
JOHN, just curious, but when you bet every fight, do you risk the same amount on every fight regardless, or do you bet enough to win the same on each fight, or is it up to your descretion?

Wow, they show alot of respect for Maia. None for Stevenson. I actually think Joe-Daddy will take that one.
by Nokimono on Feb 16, 2009 10:11 AM EST reply actions
…Who’s Kos. fighting? Does anyone know anything about this guy?? I hit a pretty 3 fight parlay last card… but I hate betting against an unknown with a (10-0 ?) record.
by rawbert on Feb 16, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions
rawbert beleive me kos will win from what i have seen of this guy his stand up is weak
also kos has a good chin, always improving boxing and a superior wrestling game allowing him to dictate where the fight goes… he also has great posture from inside the gaurd (in case thiago pulls gaurd)
on top of that kos has great stamina and has face alot better fighters….. its a sure fire bet like oskarbravo said
by ufcaddict on Feb 16, 2009 6:43 PM EST up reply actions
Chael? his mind is in another world… Maia is gonna put him in his place
by pickle on Feb 16, 2009 12:12 PM EST up reply actions
I think you’re confusing Sonnen with his most recent opponent.
by PW on Feb 16, 2009 12:50 PM EST up reply actions
Chael just believes some very odd things, and has no problem sharing those beliefs with others. I think he has a good chance in this fight. I think Maia should be favored, and I hope he wins, but I could see Chael pulling this one off. I think Gouveia is also a great bet. It wouldn’t be much of an upset if he were to beat Marquardt.
by GregC on Feb 16, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions
kos is going down, I’m picking the upset right now
by JRE on Feb 16, 2009 11:00 AM EST reply actions
Marquardt will demolish Gouveia, just watch.
by Lester the Pimp on Feb 16, 2009 11:26 AM EST reply actions
one thing is for sure Gouveia is gonna demolish Marquardt in the standup.. Marquardt uses his explosiveness and is good when he’s got his opponent hurt, but his defense sucks and he comes in wide open..
by RoB on Feb 16, 2009 12:52 PM EST reply actions
please give me an example of what you talking about because marquart has some of the most techincal striking in mma he is stong as hell and his boxing is excellent
I think its safe to say this fight is a garenteed win for nate I actually feel bad for govia because he is tuff as nails and wont quit he is ganna take some punishment in this fight
by dia mette on Feb 16, 2009 3:37 PM EST up reply actions
im looking forward to the main event watching tuff sanchez set the mold for GnP fighters on that show and stevenson was the diego of tuff II nobody wanted tofight him he was running through the competition and now they are ganna fight eachother.
I will give slight edge to diego because he is working on becoming a submision specialist which could take him to the top of 155 his whole life is dedicated to fighting and training, where as joe has like 20 kids which brings lots of responsibilities and distractions
by dia mette on Feb 16, 2009 3:33 PM EST reply actions
lol and joe always talks about his 20 kids in post interviews & how he isnt making enough or needed the win bonus etc, its his fault he doesnt use f*cking condoms.

Good card looks pretty exciting, I’m surprised at how much koscheck is willing to fight. Dan and Rory are the only ones I really don’t care about or have an idea who will win but other than that fight I’m picking all the favorites in this one. I predict the sanchez/stevenson to be a very one sided fight.
