War Machine vs Guillaume de Lorenzi at XMMA on Feb. 27 with Phil Baroni out

XMMA: "Inferno," which is scheduled for the CEPSUM Amphitheater in Montreal, Canada, on Feb. 27 will have a new main event because Phil Baroni (13-10) had to withdraw from a welterweight showdown against undefeated prospect Guillaume de Lorenzi (5-0).

Filling in for the "New York Bad Ass" will be The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season six alum War Machine (6-2), formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver. War Machine has been in the headlines quite a few times over the past few months ... and not necessarily for good reasons.

First came the name change in August 2008. Shorty thereafter he was released from his UFC contract for turning down a fight with the relatively unknown Brandon Wolff, as well as for some uninformed comments made about the death of Evan Tanner internet posting.

After the firing, he continued to blast the UFC via the Web.

Last week, War Machine was released from another contract -- the ESPN-backed Bellator Fighting Championships -- for mouthing off on the Internet again. This time it was about the President of the United States, Barack Obama.

War Machine did manage to squeeze in a fight on a Desert Rage promoted card in Arizona last November, knocking out David Anderson midway through the first round. He'll get another chance with XMMA ... at least for now.

Female Brazilian powerhouse Cristine "Cyborg" Santos has been pulled from this card as well due to injury - though she is still rumored to be okay in time for a possible April 11 debut with Strikeforce. She was originally set to face Marloes Coenen (16-2-0) at 145 pounds.

I love how some fat-ass is sitting on his couch surrounded by potato chips, sitting in his boxers, bagging on a professional fighter being unprofessional… love it. These are the same guys that see pro fighters out in the club, drink too much, take a swing, get their ass beat, and then sue and file charges. I’ll predict the future for Koppenhaver: he’s got crazy discipline; he trains night and day; he’s one of the most explosive fighters in MMA today – HE WILL KNOCK OUT GUILLAME DE LORENZI IN ROUND 1 TONIGHT. He whooped Tommy Spears in TUF – watch the tape…. Tommy tapped out at the end of round 1. War Machine is one of the greatest fighters in his weight class and now that he’s under new management, you’ll see a win streak Extreme-Couture-Style. Also, the so-called battery in Vegas was against his co-worker there, who was drunk and over 300 pounds and challenged War to fight. So, two years from now, he’ll be fighting in Affliction or UFC because they won’t be able to hide their fighters from him forever.

By the time this fight happens Douche Machine will likely have picked up some valuable experience fighting in the prison showers.

War Machine by Alpha Armbar!!!

I think this show may have some challenges moving forward, in light of recent developments in the Quebec MMA regulatory scene.

WTF?? These guys can hold a show in Montreal with no problems?

Why does this douche bag keep getting chances?

Prob cause he keeps making Headlines! He’s more of a sideshow attraction than Fighter.

I agree, this clown should have the lethal injection or electric chair so he stops using our air and water supply.

Ya good prediction loser, problem is. War Machine is Victorious by Rear naked Choke in the first round!!! Chump skate, get some knowledge about MMA. Anybody that is undefeated and has no submissions is not a true MMA fighter and tonight that shit was proved when a Purple belt was wrapped around that French Piece o craps neck and choked until he tapped like a girl!!!

Die slow all you haters, Because the Controversy train keeps on rollin!!!

What did he say about Barack Obama exactly? Were there racist comments involved?

TKO by De Lorenzi in 2min/first round! No doubt.

Jayshogun – He made a gesture about he hopes this new president and every president thereafter gets “smoked” until we can find a president that is “one of us”. Basically since they are all spoonfed and will never understand the working class. He didn’t make any racist comments. He took the bulletin down about an hour later when he realized he used poor choice of words. They interviewed him on everything at the UFC 95 Hawaiian Tropic Zone on RawVegas.

I can’t wait to see this fight.
