War Gods: 'Valentine's Eve Massacre' results with Ken Shamrock vs Ross Clifton and more

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" won his first mixed martial arts match in nearly four years last night, on Friday the 13th nonetheless, at War Gods: "Valentine's Eve Massacre" at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California.
Ken Shamrock -- who also promoted the event -- took out a sloppy (albeit gigantic) Ross Clifton, who weighed in at around 350 pounds for the fight, with a first round by submission. An overhand right floored the big man initially, and Shamrock easily sunk-in a fight-ending armbar shortly thereafter.
Prior to this win, Shamrock had lost his last five fights, each by (technical) knockout. He was supposed to square off with street brawler turned mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice at Elite XC: "Heat" last October, but had to pull out in the eleventh hour (literally) because of a cut sustained in warm ups.
During the post-fight interview last night Shamrock straight up called out Tank Abbott -- who won on the card as well with a technical knockout win over Mike Bourke -- making it pretty clear that the fellow MMA legends would likely lock horns sometime in the near future once and for all.
The card was streamed live on Sherdog.com and featured a few other UFC veteran fighters, including Wesley "Cabbage" Correira, "The Ultimate Fighter" alum Josh "Bring The Pain" Haynes and Abbott. Haynes and Abbott were victorious in their respective bouts. "Cabbage" withdrew from his match at the last minute for what are being termed "several grievances" with the promotion.
Here are the full results from War Gods: "Valentine's Eve Massacre:"
Ken Shamrock defeats Ross Clifton via submission (arm bar) in round one
Mike Moreno defeats Gary Padilla via unanimous decision
David "Tank" Abbott defeats Mike Bourke via knockout (punches) in round one
Rick Reeves defeats Nathan James via submission (rear-naked choke) in round three
Isaac De Jesus defeats Ashe Bowman via unanimous decision
Josh Haynes defeats Refael Del Real via split decision
Zolia Frausto defeats Karina Hallinan via split decision
Ron Kessler defeats Darren Freeman via split decision

it was a night of robberies, trainwrecks and the dark abyss that is tonya evinger’s personality. God can someone punch her in the face repeatedly?

How sad. I think that the chic that Kim Couture fought would of had a better chance than CLifton. Embarrassing to say that I am a fan of mma after this ridiculisness.
This reminds me of a senior in my high school. He was a wrestler, that couldnt hang with other tough wrestlers or fighters. So what he did is fight this poor fat ass, out of shape member of the high school band. And when it was over, he actually thought he accomplished something.
I would of felt like I accomlished more by beating a one legged man in an as kicking contest.
PLEASE Shamrock, retire. It ONLY makes you look even more ridiculis and sad having to fight the caliber you did tonight..
BTW Ken….How much was Clifton paid, to ENSURE that you won??? Because if you lost to him, you may of had to kill yourself over the humiliation.
WAY TO GO Canrock!!!!! You MONSTER!!!

both won, ken called tank out. Ken will kill him! I tried to watch, but was too late, both fights ended in the first round! sounds like it was a pathetic event, but I don’t know!

Yes, both won. Ken by armbar and I think Tank by TKO.
by Jimmy on Feb 14, 2009 1:50 AM EST up reply actions
yeah, tank by elbows/fists to the back of the head! LOL
by B_Hos on Feb 14, 2009 1:52 AM EST up reply actions
Tank is not a professional and he is not an athlete and the fact that he won his fight takes credability away from the MMA game a bit. When you put guys like him in the ring it becomes more like a circus than anything. Nothing about him says PROFESSIONAL MMA what a total joke!!!!
by the spyder on Feb 14, 2009 9:05 AM EST up reply actions
he is a joke. but who are you to say that he can’t make a living? if he can drink beer, have promoters still call him, and win 1 out 100..more power to him!

Im not saying he cant, Im sure that fighting that night was better than picking bottles & cans out of the garbage behind his local pub!!!!

Man, that guy Shamrock fought is one buffet away from being his own planet.

It wasn’t as bad as EXC on CBS. It was still horrific though.
by Speedy on Feb 14, 2009 2:02 AM EST reply actions
I think it was significantly worse than EXC, cmon. But really what did you expect? It’s a low level regional promotion. You were expecting maybe Penn vs GSP?
by Kyle on Feb 14, 2009 2:10 AM EST up reply actions
Elite xc may have sucked but nothing as horrible as this show.. EXC had lawler, ninja, sheilds, diaz, arlovski fought on the last card.. They had some real mma fighters…
This show was a horrible!! The fights were jokes and the commentating was the worst ive heard in a while!! The woman didnt know what she was talking about 95% of the time..
by mike22 on Feb 14, 2009 2:19 AM EST up reply actions
Agreed, i could only take the commentating until 2nd rd of the womens fight before i muted it. I feel bad for eric apple being stuck with those two idiots.

by hatteras on Feb 14, 2009 8:48 AM EST reply actions
btw WTF is with that orange-toned skin announcer’s bleach blonde goatee? What is he Big Poppa Pump?
by the killer on Feb 14, 2009 11:00 AM EST reply actions
SO GLAD THIS IS OVER..and therefore wont be discussed EVER again, I hope.
This was the equivalent of NFL hall of famers that have been out of teh game for 20 years playing ball against a group of players that got cut or couldnt even make the team 20 years ago.
DISGRACEFUL.
I hope this is NOT a sign of thigns to come. Some moron getting together, anyone or anybody that wants a paycheck and the novelty to say they are a “Danny Abbaddi” mmma fighter…..regardless of how horrible they are. If that was the case these type of events could be run 24/7 around the clock. Because there are that many losers out there that think they are athletes
