What’s up with Neer’s DUI situation?

“my hands were slipping, cause we are used to doing it with t-shirts on, now no t-shirts, no friction”
doesnt this guy train with BJ? no wonder they think everyone is greased up

by newfie on Feb 8, 2009 4:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think this is positive toward gsp actually. that people are slippery, regadless

by New on Feb 8, 2009 4:32 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

haha yeah really.

Guys there is more slippage without shirts on.., comeon.

by Brandon on Feb 8, 2009 4:39 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe he should try training without the t-shirts on so he gets preparation for what it’s going to be like in the fight. I feel the same way with guys having difficulty breathing with mouth pieces in. If you train conditioning with a mouth piece in you’ll be better suited to breathing with one in during a fight.

by GregC on Feb 8, 2009 5:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

True that and how about training with gloves so that performing a heel hook won’t be difficult.

by MrFyer on Feb 8, 2009 7:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

how bout training with no cup on, so that when u do get hit in the cup it doesnt hurt

by brendan on Feb 8, 2009 9:13 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I like Rumble – he fights and talks with class. Thumbs up for him , i hope can make it far.

by MMA040 on Feb 8, 2009 5:01 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

gotta agree i think he’s one of the more intelligent fighters when he talks as well, he doesn’t talk like a cocky retarded a$$clown (tito ortiz, matt hughes) and he doesn’t run his mouth much (BJ) he just gets down to business and breaks down his fights pretty well

by randy murders on Feb 8, 2009 6:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Tito Ortiz is one of the absolute best in the business at talking, and in a good way.. he is also one of the classiest fighters in the biz too, the man is a pimp.. Josh Neer on the other hand is and talks like a “cocky retarded a$$clown”

by RoB on Feb 8, 2009 8:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

You clearly didn’t listen to Tito’s commentary at the last Affliction PPV then. I know 5 year-old that could have formed more coherent sentences.

by BigRedOne on Feb 8, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes i did listen to his commentary, im a huge Tito fan.. the guy is a superstar and the best in the business at hyping his fights, and he can’t talk? give me a break, he’s not a commentator i know that but compared to what other MMA fighters would have done he did great.. ppl that can’t see that Tito is all about business and really is a nice guy can’t have reached the age of 7 yet..

by RoB on Feb 8, 2009 8:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Tito is excellent at promoting himself, but I thought he was bad as a commentator, and awful as a post-fight interviewer. And you’re right, most MMA fighters aren’t cut out for commentary, and Tito is one of them. But to say he was great compared to other fighters, I think Frank Mir, Kenny Florian and Randy Couture would disagree.

by GregC on Feb 8, 2009 11:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Saved me from typing the same thing, only I probably would not have even remembered Florian. haha

by naturalshadow on Feb 9, 2009 1:48 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yes but i meant in general.. there’s always gonna be someone that’s better..

by RoB on Feb 9, 2009 8:06 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I went to this, it was my first UFC event. It was pretty badass. I met Sean Sherk twice, Jens Pulver, Ben Saunders, Cung Le, Josh Burkeman, Dana White, Joe Silva, Joe Rogan, Mike Goldberg, Bruce Buffer, the Tapout guys.. It was pretty crazy.

I was watching the wiegh ins right beside Ben Saunders, when AJ was weighing in, I asked Ben if he was ever approached with fighting him, and he said he asked for him, but AJs manager didn’t want to put it together. Tell me that wouldn’t be a SICK fight! I think Ben would wreck him.

My seat were spot on! I couldn’t have asked for better seats unless it were beside Dana himself. I originally thought the best view would be the TV screen, but my seats were pretty damn good. 2nd tier seats, and when the would announce the official decisions, they were facing us.

As far as the entire event went, I thought it went by alot faster than watching it on the screens, but when you’re having fun… I called the Josh Neer Fight of the Night, and man was I pumped up for that one! FOr Sub, I thought it’d be close between J-Lau and Neer, but it wasn’t a bad call.

Speaking of bad calls the Grice KO was bad, but the Cain stoppage was terrible!

The only fight to go to decision wasn’t that bad either. The horn wasn’t working or something at the end of the 3rd round, and for those that have seen it, the last 10 seconds Riddle and Bruno just went at it (which they should have been doing the whole fight) and the bell never rang, so they fought for like 5 or 6 extra seconds, and in MMA, that is a LONG time!

Overall, I loved it, and I cant wait to go again. Thats my post-fight reaction!

by Synyster [[2009 Year of Gegard Mousasi]] on Feb 8, 2009 6:45 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Sounds awesome.

I didnt have a problem with the Cain stoppage. He was taking some serious punishment throughout that bout and he wasn’t fighting back. There was no way he was going to come back so the ref let him live to fight another day. That was a ridiculously uncompetitive match-up, and if the UFC wants us to take Velasquez seriously then they have to put him in there with a decent heavyweight.

Oh, and AJ would KO Saunders, but it would be a fun fight. Johnson needs some polish and some experience against better fighters, but the potential and the physical tools are certainly there.

by Jeremyjackson on Feb 8, 2009 7:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I know the guy wasn’t doing ANYTHING to Cain, but still. He was ready to keep fighting. He was upset, Cain was upset, the fans were upset, just a bad call imo.

And I don’t know about AJ KO’ing Ben. I mean, he certainly has the ability to, but I think Ben would be able to win a decision against him. Remember, Clementi was able to tap this guy at a weight above normal.

Right now, I think there is too much hype around AJ. I acknowledge the fact that he is a great UP AND COMING fighter, but I believe too many people are holding him up on a pedastal, kind of like Cain. Both are good at the level of competition they are facing, and both Know that. I just don’t want any of these guys getting one big win then alla sudden they are like Soko, gettin fights against dudes with over 30 wins (i.e. Babalu) and actually expected to do very well.

I think a match between Big Ben and Swick would be very competitive, but I think Swick is at a higher level now. I don’t think Ben would make it out of the fight, and Swick would KO him. I actually think Swick is alot better than what most people give him credit for.

To john: if Big Ben throws up more performances like he did in his last fight with the relentless knees clinch, then hella yeah he will be wrecking guys next year!

BTW, I asked him about the Hazelett fight, and he said he is still trying to get it, so hopefully that will happen! Of course, I didn’t tell him I’d be rooting for Hazelett, but yeah! Hope for a good fight!

And one more thing, I made $60 on UFN 17!! I haven’t won money on MMA since Lil Nog and Babalu at Affliction.

by Synyster [[2009 Year of Gegard Mousasi]] on Feb 8, 2009 10:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Rumble did lose to Clementi, but that was also in a fight he took on short notice. He had to cut a huge amount of weight for that fight and he still dominated Clementi until he gassed. He is receiving lot of hype, but his wins have been dominant, and his two losses are after taking a fight on short notice and getting a retina-detaching poke in the eye. I think it’s justified.

by GregC on Feb 8, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Actually if its short notice for one fighter then its short for the other also , Clementi didnt know he was fighting Johson till the same time Johnson did …

About the weight .. It was a catch weight fight and not at the day of weigh in .. It was known atleast 1 week maybe when the bout was signed I forget but it was known before weigh ins .. And they let Clementi know it was catch weigh at the same time but Clementi still cut the weigh and foughtat the weight he usually does.. And Clementi had him hurt way before he gassed and then put him away ..

Dont make exscuses unless you know the whole story.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed your night Synyster! Ben Saunders is seriously one of my favorite fighters. I like Rumble too, and he is the better current fighter, but By 2010, Ben Saunders will be beating a lot of top fighters asses!~

I would bet on him against someone like Mike Swick!

by john on Feb 8, 2009 8:46 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

don’t anyone dare say a word against Tito otherwise rob would be all over ya .. thats how it works eh? freedom of speech can be practiced for anyone but tito almighty .. the guy did a laughable job at affliction ..anyone will agree to that .. other mma fighters have done much better in the commenting business .. take ken florian for example .. the guy is clear, precise and logical.

by commoner on Feb 8, 2009 9:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

lol, what are you trying to say? I just said that he’s not a commentator, but to put him in the same sentence as Hughes and even think of them to be the same is the only thing that’s laughable… it’s an entertainment business and Tito obviously knows how to handle that and how to act infront of the cameras, if he didn’t he wouldn’t have all the fans…

by RoB on Feb 8, 2009 9:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

you seem to be the only fan left .. infact you might be tito himself .. trying to hold on to his past laurels and trying his best not to fade in the public eye .. Tito was great in his prime and there is a time for every fighter to fade away .. Tito’s has sadly passed .. its natural my friend .. don’t fret over it .. if he wins against any credible opponent .. I repeat credible not a can .. I will personally apologize to you…ok Rob? once again stop policing the website … people have every right to voice their opinions .. Randy and Big Red One have stated the obvious .. don’t defend somebody unnecessarily…peace.

by commoner on Feb 8, 2009 9:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

they stated their opinion which is wrong in my eyes, and i told them what was up.. Tito doesn’t need MMA and he doesn’t have to beat anyone, he’s a public figure and a star.. take it easy bro

by RoB on Feb 9, 2009 8:08 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Creepy Joe sucks. He will never be champ. Solid gatekeeper at best. Florian will be next LW champ 4 sure. Call me crazy but I think Donald Cerrone in WEC is a beast and could tear shit up in the UFC.

by guy on Feb 8, 2009 11:42 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

After watching this fight ill give my opinion about the Cain vs Carwin argue .. I think Carwin would have finished that guy prolly by ko early in the first round , if not for sure tko on the ground .. He has so much more power then Cain.

The 2 guys Carwin has fought , I think its Wellish and Neil Wain were better then this guy.
