alright guys, I was on the fence for a few days, but check out this site! This was in the second round, before BJ got destroyed and lost a;; confidence!

Yeah he got whooped! By all the camera shots I seen on HD both fighters face the grease stuck out but appears to be none the back? They said a possible Silva GSP fight! Sweet don’t think GSP will win this one Silva will have the same advantage that GSP had on BJ and thats the weight. I think GSP will put a good fight in though. If Rampage win’s and get’s the title shot I think Machida should fight on the same card vs Forrest(if he’s ready) or another top 205er. It’s going to be another exiting year!! Go Rampage!!

I see GSP moving forward in the direction of Penn’s head, staying centered as Penn tries to apply pressure. I see BJ not able to secure GSP’s hips enabling him to make this move(if GSP pulls up rather than moving forward Penn would be more able to set the guard.) I see GSP landing strikes to Penn’s head. I see BJ on his back. I see Penn fans in denial. No longer on the fence. I take GSP’s word. He is one guy who is concerned about the perception of the sport and goes out of his way to be professional and a gentlemen.
by TapedUpPair on Feb 5, 2009 8:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Powers through it with his legs and hips….. If you look at the video he basically has his feet planted as is essentially walking through BJ’s guard. Simply put BJ just didn’t have the position to control a bigger stronger man from that spot.

its so obvious. it reminds me of college guys when they drink too much and get those beer goggles. they are so intoxicated and amped up they cant see the girl of their dreams is actually a pig…note: BJ is no pig he is just a punk.

no, but look at the way Mir s gazing at GSP during the post fight interview. I love mir, but boy oh boy is he a pompous ass!

by roy on Feb 5, 2009 5:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
It’s weird that people bash arrogance so much. It’s not the worst character trait IMO. I like Ken-Flo and Mir. They’ve earned the right to a little conficence. I haven’t seen any outright smug behavior.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Feb 5, 2009 7:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
everyone hates arrogance unless its BJ, then its cool apparently
by Egads on Feb 5, 2009 8:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Confidence and arrogance are worlds apart. Usually the latter implies a lack of the form. I don’t think Kenny’s really that arrogant, just annoyingly self-satisfied.
by Clayton on Feb 5, 2009 8:32 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The more pride a man has, the more they despise it in others.
by Diceman on Feb 5, 2009 11:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Egads: the thing is they are bandwagon fans. When Penn was on a streak, he was a badass, could say what he wanted like you said and get away with it. Now he lost and he is in the same boat everybody else is in. Now there are a grip of people that share your opinion all of a sudden. Penn is a little shit talkin bitch, I see it a lot now. Unfortunate I think, the way people sway so easily over a win and loss.
by The Anomaly on Feb 5, 2009 11:41 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I’m not saying I condone arrogance. I’m just saying it’s not the worst character trait IMO. For example some of these guys who deface property like a two-year old (Monson) or get drunk and drive around like irresponsible assholes, those things annoy me more about a fighter. Of course I hate Matt Hughes so maybe I tolerate arrogance from guys I like and don’t from guys I don’t like.

Sorry for this post here, but the comment section is closed for the ProElite to Strickforce sale:
Anyone know how the sale of assets is going down? For example is the sale through a bankruptcy court, is it a Chapter 11 or a Chapter 13? All of these will affect the sale of assets. If this is a quick fire sale the contracts will hold very little value once sold and Strikeforce will most likely void the compensation portion or the entire contract and force fighters to renegotiate. While some of you maniacs will view this as unfair, it is a function of ProElite selling assets at a depreciated value in order to pay of unsecured and secured creditors (assuming these transactions are through the bankruptcy court).
by Jeff on Feb 5, 2009 4:30 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
not sure Jeff, but I’d have to think that the contracts will be null and void or forced to be renegotiated! Strikeforce has a great business model, they won’’t be paying the likes of Kimbo high 6 figures to fight!
by kevin on Feb 5, 2009 5:24 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Jeff: I would love to answer your questions but you are the 1st person I look to when questions like this come up.
Knowing that traditionally fighters made more money in EliteXC then Strikeforce, I would think that if EliteXC fighters chose to stay at strikeforce, they would have to renegotiate their contract. Strikeforce doesnt pay fighters what Elite did (guess thats why they are still around lol).
what I understood was that it is up to the fighters if they want to become free agents or have their contract carried over because of “California’s personal service blah blah blah Act” or something of that nature. I do know that Strikeforce will own ProElite’s video library. I honestly think its going to be very similar to when UFC purchased Pride…..but I am not the most qualified to be speaking about things of this sort.
by john on Feb 5, 2009 5:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I looked for ProElite’s bankruptcy petition, but to no avail. Yes, I’m sure Strikeforce will allow, or the court will allow the fighters to become free agents. Especially, since you mentioned the California personal service Act. I had forgotten Cali had that law on the books. However, free agents are subject to a free market economy (with no union), and I doubt many of these fighters will be compensated the way they were with EliteXC.
by Jeff on Feb 5, 2009 5:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Jeff: I agree, If they stay with strikeforce, they are probably going to have to take some kind of a pay cut. Like The purchase of Pride, in the end I think the fighters will all just do what they want!
The only restrictions would probably be if a ProElite fighter like Nick Diaz, already has an exsisting contract with DREAM (and I dont know that he does, just talking hypothetically)….That would probably keep him from being signed by the UFC because we all know UFC fighters do NOT fight outside of the Octagon.

CHeck this out***
Jeff: “EliteXC’s marquee fighters, like Carano, Ferguson and former EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler among others, are being approached by Strikeforce to re-negotiate contracts with Pro Elite that have been deemed non-transferrable without time-consuming litigation.”
-site that rymes with snoopdog!
Whats also interesting is that Robbie Lawler was seriously being considered by the UFC to caoch opposite of Micheal Bisping on this upcoming season of TUF. Bisping vs. Lawler would have been amazing!

I just think Bisping vs. Lawler would be a much more exciting fight stylistically

Hey to anyone who says penn isn’t using the vasoline as an excuse for his loss just go to his website LOL. He’s also had his lawyer file a complaint which I read and basically its saying the vasoline is the entire reason penn lost and rendered his bjj completely useless. It says gsp was slippery everywhere even his legs? And after numerous submition attempts? penn couldn’t get a hold of gsp because he was so slippery. It was one of the most rediculous things I’ve ever read and I guess its the only way for penn to save face. Penn has to be one of the biggest sore losers I’ve ever seen, I guess the bigger the ego the more of a sore loser you will be.
by nathan on Feb 5, 2009 4:51 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I don’t think Penn is using the Vaseline as an excuse, but the controversy definitely takes some of the attention away from the lop sided beating he took.
by stevo on Feb 5, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
How can you say he’s not using it as an excuse. When someone says “i’m not taking anything away from GSP and not using this as an excuse” and then in the same breath says “I couldn’t do any of my main moves, it wasn’t fair etc” that’s what we call an excuse, he just doesn’t have the kegs to call it what it is.
Come on man, get the marbles out of your head.
Saying that is not an excuse is like saying that you weren’t born feet first…… totally unbelievable.

First and foremost, I have to give a shout out to girl Molly Qerim, man is that broad gorgeous..I apologize to any Florian fans, but Kenflo will lose to BJ Penn..As good as Kenny is, he will only lose to the stiffest competition in the UFC..That includes Sean Sherk, BJ Penn, and my opinion to an evolving Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard is up there too

i don’t know what to think about kenny. he usally ends up fighting the guys i like, and he’s beat them all. Din, Roger, Joe.L, and then he went on to beat joe.s. he kind of reminds me of rich franklin at middleweight. I’d like him to get a belt, but i honestly think BJ’s gonna run over him.
by shinbob on Feb 5, 2009 6:34 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Kenny deserves the title shot and hopefully it will be a great fight. Anthony Johnson is a beast and I think he would give any welterweight a tough fight. I believe Rumble Johnson fought at 155 against Rich Clementi which was crazy. There are gliches in his game especially his ground game but guy has potential.
by mhk on Feb 5, 2009 6:54 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
He got submitted by Clementi.
And you say he would give any ww a tough fight?
GSP, Alves, Fitch, Kos, Hughes would all smash him in under a minute, first round.
by Lester the Pimp on Feb 5, 2009 7:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I never said he will beat any welterweight, just said he would give any welterweight a tough fight. I personally do not see Hughes or even Kos smashing Rumble in under a minute. Just my opinion.

Just found a source saying that this event had over 1.3m PPV buys. I wonder what cut GSP took of that…5% 10%?
The UFC houses all of the World’s best mixed martial artists, has done since the beginning. This being said, at the end of the day it is a business, and the success in the business allows all of the awesome UFC shows to go on. And UFC 94 topped it again.
The UFC sells tickets for its live shows, and makes money off them. But the PPV buys make the real money. The previous record was set by "UFC 66: Liddell vs Ortiz" and this stayed the record for almost two years with just over a million PPV buys. "UFC 92: Ultimate 2008" broke the record, scoring an estimated 1.2 million PPV buys. Then "UFC 94: St Pierre vs Penn 2" stepped up, and as the hype suggested, scored a staggering estimated 1.3+ million PPV buys. The super fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao only pulled down an estimated 1.25m PPV buys. Proof positive that MMA is taking over as the world’s premier combat sport.
It will be exciting over the next few months and years to see how successful the UFC becomes. With UFC 100 just around the corner, Rampage Jackson possibly fighting for the title and Mir/Lesnar 2, only time will how high the UFC will reach.

5 or 10%, you’re nuts! UFC only gets 45-50% with the rest going to cable/satellite provider. you guys need to do the research, it’s out there. Howard stern had a big fight with ppv years ago and how the payouts work. 1 or 2% is more of a likely number, but still 1% of 50 million is still a million dollar "bonus, 2% is 2 million. I’m not 100% (i haven’t seen the contract), but if the ufc is getting 25 million, gsp isn’t getting 5 of that!!!

I don’t beleive BJ is as good as everyone thinks. Florian definitly has the tools and heart to take BJ out. Kenny could and has beaten pretty much everyone BJ has. Kenny LW champ soon and then BJ is history.
by Stevo The Great! on Feb 5, 2009 7:12 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I don’t believe that Florian is as good as everyone thinks..He will have his toughest test to date against The Prodigy when they fight for the belt..Let me remind you that BJ at LW is like 9-1..You can’t write him that quickly after his devastating loss to GSP..BJ is a natural 155 lb figther, it is his natural weight..He is a beast at 155 lb..Kenny eats like 100 calories a day to maintain his 155 lb frame, Florian walks around at 185 lb and has to cut tremendous weight to fight in the LW division.
Florian will lose I don’t care what anyone says, BJ is a different fighter at 155, he is the best.
by pride 4 ever on Feb 5, 2009 8:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
What do you think BJ walks around at? He’s at least 185 when he isn’t training for a fight.
by Gord on Feb 5, 2009 9:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t believe BJ is as good as everyone thinks either, BUT I think he’s going to absolutely school KenFlo. Kenny ain’t bad, but he’s no prodigy. BJ will be highly motivated coming off GSPs ass-whooping and I’m afraid KenFlo is going to suffer all the more for it. Having said that, it’d be nice to see BJ lose again! I wonder what crap he’d talk about Kenny in that instance…
by BigRedOne on Feb 5, 2009 8:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree. I definitely think that Kenny has a very good shot at beating BJ. BJ reminds me a lot like the Titos, Chucks, and Hughes of the UFC. He just hasn’t adapted to the new UFC. In the new UFC you have to be well rounded, intelligent, and be able to push a very strong pace and last the whole fight with a good cardio regiment. BJ after all these years, after gassing already to Hughes still doesnt train properly. He still believes he will beat everyone because hes the prodigy and is one of the most talented fighters ever in the octagon. But i think if you have cardio, if your well rounded and if your intelligent you can beat Penn. hughes outlasted Penn, GSP destroyed Penn in every aspect of new MMA. (strength, cardio, athleticism and MMA period)and Penn hasnt been in great competition in a long time. Hughes has been on a downhill slope for some time, Pulver hasnt won in god knows how long, when he beat stevenson he looked good but stevenson is still young and florian did beat him a round quicker, and he was exposed and demolished by GSP. I think that the Florian Penn fight will go the distance, i see a decision for Florian, through good cardio and a tactful approach to Penn. He ll win this fight mark my words
by jackel on Feb 5, 2009 7:42 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Are you serious, he reminds you a lot like the Titos, Chucks, and Hughes of the UFC. You remind me of the Jack’s (Robin Williams), Powder’s, Sling Blade’s and Simple Jack’s..Just because he lost to GSP you’re going to write him off that quickly..Don’t get me wrong, a fight between BJ and Kenflo is a great match up that can rejuvenate The Prodigy who is a monster at 155..Kenny will have his hands full.
The Tito, Chuck, and Hughes are all older than BJ Penn..Penn still has a fighting spirit..He will retire after this match between Kenflo.
Mark my words, BJ will surprise all the doubters in his fight with Florian..Get off Florian’s nuts jackel, you prolly rock the same mullet cut like he does..Your hero is Kenflo, he is the anorexic version of Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents
BJ PENN ALL THE WAY HOMEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Kenny – “Fedor a bit sloppy” – whatever dickhead, he has the best record in MMA. Fedor is easily the best pound for pound fighter in the world. I do not know how GSP fighting someone from a lighter weight division even factors into this discussion. He is expected to win. If he goes up and beats Anderson, that is another story.
by DownUnder on Feb 5, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
You can’t honestly say Fedor is #1….he’s good, he’s beat some good guys, but he’s also fought a bunch of tomato cans. Silva fights pretty much all A grade competition (with the exception of a few) and he pulverises everyone.
If Anderson Silva were to fight Fedor in would end it within a round. Think about the trouble Fedor was having with AA and silva is a far deadlier striker, not too mention far harder to hit than AA.
To say Fedor is easily the best P4P fighter in the world makes you sound like you’ve been drinking your nanny’s breast milk for your entire life.
