Tranny given Sunday: Gono evening gown baffles giggly Fitch

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. "Crazy" Bob Cook had to get my attention because I couldn't focus (between rounds), it was so nuts..."
-UFC welterweight Jon Fitch tells MMAmania.com how difficult it was to concentrate on fighting at UFC 94 'St. Pierre vs. Penn 2' while his opponent was being cornered by grown men in prom dresses. Japanese fan favorite Akihiro Gono did the foxtrot en route to the Octagon in a sort of RuPaul-inspired homage to the Pointer Sisters. Fitch would go on to take the unanimous decision victory, but not without a few laughs along the way. This 170-pound contest was worthy of main card status on entrances alone...

The cornermen put their t-shirts on right over top of their dresses…but they were still wearing their high heels…it was a scream

:) Maybe it was best that it wasn’t televised if nothing else then to keep new viewers from thinking MMAers are CRAZY! LOL

After last nights fights, Dana was asked about the LHW title picture. He said that If Rampage beats Jardine, he will fight Rashad 1st with Lyoto being next in line. BUt If Jardine wins, Machida gets 1st crack at Rashad. Either way Dana said we will se Machida fighting for the title in 2009

Well, I guess that’s good news. IMO he definitely deserves it.

I like my new job. REALLY like it, surprisingly. But I hated it last night. HATED it. Why? Cuz I was out of town for it AGAIN, and missed the evening of fights! I swear, I never get to see them anymore and I never get to post on Mania at work. Some stupid rule about it not being a company approved website. Now I have to go watch this stuff online. But congrats to the winners. I wasn’t sure who to pull for. Head said GSP, but for some strange reason I had wanted BJ. And I’m one of those guys who hates the trashtalkers, so I can’t say why I was hoping for Penn. So big props to GSP, and way to finish a fight Lyoto!!! Now I just gotta watch ’em.

I don’t think Rampage should get the shot before Machida. Stop dicking around with the man. He deserves his shot sooner rather than later. Why does he have wait for Rampage?
by DSmith on Feb 1, 2009 11:16 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
because Rampage was already the number 1 contender but wanted one more fight before going after Rashad.

Machida will be denied a shot again. Are you kidding me – this was a stylistically favorable matchup for him. Maybe they might do it coz it’s fresh in fans’ minds. Usually strikers who push him get KTFO. Other styles make for pure possibly borring counterstriking clinics that eventually go to decision.

Question: After witnessing last nights Mega fight, what is the biggest match up that the UFC could book now?
IMO, the best fight that the UFC could possibly book is a fight that would never happen because the 2 fighters are great frineds and training partners. My mega fight is:
Lyoto Machida vs. Anderson Silva! To me that is the best match up that the UFC could possibly book! To bad its not going to happen! Hopefully Machida bangs Anderson’s wife or something, so they become enemies and Fight!

John,
What the hell are you doing up? And yes, this is the biggest fight the UFC could put together.

I got a basketball game in an hour….Just blogging to pass the time! Stayed in and watched the fights alone last night, while I played text message tag with PhilQny!

well.. imo the biggest fight the UFC could pull would be gsp vs a. silva. That Shit would be crazzy

yea, i was on youtube the other night for hours watching a bunch of Gono’s entrances. Also, i knew of Genki Sudo but didn’t know much about him or that he did sick entrances like that too. John, I see why you love that guy. Wish I had been more into Pride back then. I’ve seen most of the Pride fights, but didn’t see any of the shows live. Man they looked like fun to watch
by Crowls on Feb 1, 2009 2:22 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
there are many HUGE fights that the ufc could put on,
a.silva vs bisping
a.silva vs w.silva(with his move to 185lbs.)
GSP vs alves
evans vs machida
evans vs rampage
griffin vs liddell
penn vs florian
thats just to name a few.
only time will tell what will be the next blockbuster.

Im a little new to posting on this site, though I have been visiting here a long time. But I have to know why people post crap like this addressing the actual fighters.
I highly doubt anybody in the UFC reads anything off of these threads. In fact the only fighter that I could imagine might possibly visit this site would be Fitch.
But arent these posts kinda pointless???

??? :/ What? The things we miss. I hope they re-air this sometime. This looks like you just had to see it for yourself.

I can not fucking believe Fitch was left off the main card – Shame on you Dana White/Jo Silva .. .what a joke, they could have easily slotted this one in.
by DownUnder on Feb 1, 2009 4:25 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
It was funny to see during the wheigh-in’s Fitch completely ignored Dana if you watch everybody goes straigth to Dana to shake his hand, and after they pose for the picture they shake his hand again. Fitch avoid him both times. I was also disappointed that at Greg Jackson’s game plans you heard him tell both Karo and GSP strike and clinch them right away. I understand you plan for victory but that strategy makes for boring fights, and I never tought I would say GSP has becomed one of those boring wrestlers. Thiago just practice your takedown defense because if you dont you will be layed on the whole time.

Link? anyone please….. want to see this fight
by Nish on Feb 1, 2009 5:11 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
I cant believe Karo won that fight. Cheatin ass was holding the fence on the 3rd round take down too.
Im a big BJ fan but GSP str8 smashed on him. Looks like Primetime was real because BJ was just chillin on the beach and looking flabby. He didn’t even pose a threat and was talkin smack about Fitch All that shit talkin about GSP quitting, and GSP shutted him up. BJ is the one who has been trying to set this fight up for awhile I think he didn’t train hard for this fight. As a fan I’m disappointed because I expected a war but it definitely did not live up to its hype. GSP dominated all the way. I bet this was easier than training he still looked fresh. I can’t wait to see him smash Alves and possibly taken Anderson Silva.

I kept hoping to see a quick KO on the main card so they’d replay the Fitch fight. I didn’t think Karo won that fight…
by Arnold on Feb 1, 2009 8:41 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Hell no, Karo lost that fight for sure. They gave that shit to him. I was expecting them to say Stun Gun won by UD.
by DZZ on Feb 1, 2009 1:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i completely agree! Kim won that fight by UD. I think from now on if any fight goes to a decision the judges have to justify their scoring and tell the athletic commission (who will then tell us fans, the reason the sport does well) why they gave the scores they did. there are way too many questionable calls in the ufc. did yall see karo’s face when the second judges score came in? he looked just as shocked as I did!

Oh and the fact that gono vs fitch was on the undercard is a slap in the face to both of them. dana needs to grow up and push his hurt feelings aside and deliver what the paying fans want to see.
by child on Feb 2, 2009 12:29 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Gono should headline a fight night card

talk about tapeduppair or pairs? this is just odd. for the record, i changed my name to this (tapeuppair) when Dana did nothing about the hammil v bisping result; thought dana acted like he had taped up his pair.
Looking for Adam G – anyone seen my friend? : )
by TapedUpPair on Feb 1, 2009 9:39 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
well if they did it to distract fitch its brilliant in a self deprecating sort of way, too bad it didnt work out so well

anyone know where to watch this, ufc website said itll be up monday but anywhere to watch it today
by Jared on Feb 1, 2009 10:35 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
GSP saves the UFC!!! One guy defending 2 belts would have been tough to endure ie. 1 title defence a year
by McArthur on Feb 1, 2009 1:03 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
It makes more sense for machida to get the first cracked at rashad evans n fights the winner of rampage and jardine…
by ftb2 on Feb 1, 2009 3:26 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
All in all a good night of fights…
Too bad Gono gets no love as some have already said… hopefully tho’ he isn’t misunderstood and new fans appreciate his sense of humor, but more than likely he is on his way out, maybe he can hook up with Dream or WVR…
The Kim/Karo fight should have gone to Kim…
the Diaz/Guida fight was closer but should have gone to Nate…
Bones Jones was very interesting and I will be keeping a close eye on this guy…Seemed like he was utilizing the Drunken Monkey style or something…
