Matt Wiman vs Sam Stout UFC 97 fight in the works

Lightweights Matt Wiman (10-4) and Sam Stout (13-5-1) are penciled in to collide at UFC 97 from The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on April 18,
"Handsome" was making moves in the 155-pound division before he locked horns with last-minute replacement, Jim Miller, at UFC Fight Night 16: "Fight for the Troops" just last month. Miller defeated Wiman via unanimous decision, snapping a four-fight win streak for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4 alum.
Aside from the most recent loss, during which he demonstrated his toughness and grit, Wiman had finished three of his last four opponents. He demonstrated dangerous knockout power with a second round upset of Thiago Tavares at UFC 85: "Bedlam" back in June of this year.
He has only one other loss inside the Octagon to Spencer Fisher way back when.
Stout recently dropped a unanimous decision to Terry Etim at UFC 89: "Bisping vs. Leben" in October 2008. It marked his send consecutive defeat inside the Octagon and third in the last four attempts for the heavy-handed XTreme Couture-trained fighter.
During that span, "Hands of Stone" dropped a controversial split decision to Rich Clementi at UFC 83: "Serra vs St. Pierre 2″ in front of his hometown Canada crowd. He'll get a chance to redeem himself on April 18. Stout has also lost to and defeated Fisher in two action-packed battles.
UFC 97 will likely feature middleweight champion Anderson Silva, defending his 185-pound strap against Thales Leites. Company President Dana White recently announced during the UFC 93 post-event press conference that Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua would also square off in the co-main event.

I still can’t figure out why they wanna waste a fight with Leites! He’s out cold 3 minutes into the fight. And I like Leites, but that fight isn’t going to the ground, just Leites. I take Stout for this one. He needs this one or he’s gone from the ufc’s roster! Exciting fight though IMO.

I like stout as he is canadian;but; I think he needs to be training more on the ground so he leaves his opponents with other things to be wary of;besides his hands. He has gotten too predictable in his offence.

They are just bringing big names to Canada. Like last year when it was here, a lot of mismatches. But we aren’t going to complain about the cards we get, it’s better than nothing. Just being able to watch Chuck or Anderson live is good enough. We are easy to please, just look at our women. JK.

That’s only two and a half months rest, he always takes a bit more than that. He’ll be there rubbing elbows but not fighting.

Sam Stout has hands of steel, a chin of granite and a heart of gold. Be nicer or he may come suck your balls one day then where would you be huh? No but seriously he is just too small for 155, he should cut to 145 and go to the WEC.
