Hal, you really don’t know what you’re talking about man. I’ve been training MMA for a few years now and believe me, BJ really is a prodigy. The guy’s ground skills and boxing are second to none in MMA. I give GSP a ton of credit because he too is a phenom. However, as I said before, BJ is a more skilled fighter than GSP. GSP will not be able to finish Penn. His only chance is a decision. As for Nate, who cares how he talks or what he looks like, the guy can fight. You would probably talk very similarly to him if you were raised in Stockton. The sport is about fighting, not literature and proper etique.

Jimmy has trained for a few years so if he says BJ is a prodigy, than he has to be. Who cares what people call him the dude is not winning this fight. And being raised in Stockton isn’t what makes Nate talk like a meth mouth.
Jimmy are you also saying that BJ’s one-punch combos are the best in MMA? The guy has a solid jab and a good chin, that’s it. I think Andre Arlovski and about 10 other guys are better boxers than BJ.

Jimmy I couldn’t agree with you more, GSP will not finish Penn in stunning KO fashion..Everyone wants to see BJ get destroyed and dominated, its not going to happen..I’m a hardcore MMA fan and an even more hardcore BJ Penn fan..I’ve been watching the Prodigy fight since the good ol UFC days..Hes got too much talent and heart to give up during any of his fights..The only thing stopping him from being the most dominant is his conditioning..As for Nate, he has superior BJJ compared to Guida, coupled with improved stand up, I’m expecting to see a stunning all around performance by Nate Diaz

Great Post Jimmy! I have been saying it for months, GSP can only beat BJ via decision….That gives BJ Penn 25 minutes to end a fight! Big advantage to BJ, IMO!

GSP is saying how he will fight BJ like No one has b4….what that means is that GSP is going to try to continue to move forward and get BJ back Peddling! Bad Idea, George! BJ doesnt BACK DOWN!!!! Sorry to dissapoint those of you who have “been training MMA for a few years now” or are “hardcore fans” but BJ will lose this fight. As for diaz he’s a talented fighter no doubt but he can’t seem to separate his street mentality from the fact that he now fights as a profession and in the long run that kind of attitude is just bad for his career and the UFC. In the end the debate is pretty much over, today is the day and i’m picking GSP, and trust me when I tell you it’s more of an educated pic than you seem to think.

Exactly!!!! bout time someone picked up on that. I’d be a little worried about the future of the UFC if that athlete v. fighter analogy held any water. GSP is an athlete AND a fighter. And anyone who thinks differently needs their head checked. Keep in mind this is the guy who never wrestled before coming to the UFC. He’s an athlete and a fighter…..period.

I think BJ has better all around skills and more ways to win the fight. I don’t think he will gas this time no matter how long the fight goes. I think he will make GSP pay dearly if he attempts to lay ‘n pray again. So my reasoning goes beyond just athlete vs. fighter. All that said, it wouldn’t be hugely surprising if GSP won.

Seems like NO one is actually betting the fight! I hear a ton of predictions but no bets! I only bring this up because a nice amount of us on this site are frequent mma gamblers, yet I dont hear anyone placing bets for the biggest fight in the history of the sport! I know its a close match up, but so many strong opinions but NO money on the line…Its weird. I dont remember a main event, that so little people are betting on! That right there shows just how much of a close match up this fight really is!

C-mon john, be real about BJ! BJ/Uno was how long ago? BJ was lean and explosive, now BJ is thick and puggy! BJ’s new found cardio remains to be seen! Sherk never really tested it, he just tried to box! And before that BJ was dead on his feet after the Stevenson fight. I never made an account at BetUs, so no betting for me just yet! When I bet the Sherk/BJ fight, it was 4 of my friends, friends. 500ea to my 1K, I was bumed but I gave up the money. Then we did it again with Forrest/Page and I got my 1K back plus and extra 1K. Then one of those tools tried to talk sh*t. He came pretty close for me to put something on his @ss! So after my boy passed away, I told all 4 of those p*ssies to f*ck off!

John-I usually agree with you, but I think you’re dead wrong on this one. Caol Uno didn’t bring the heat that GSP will bring from beginning to end. I think pretty much anyone’s cardio would be inferior to Rush, but BJ’s is pretty much a guarantee. I’ve got a bill on tonight’s fight, and I’m confident in my pick. BJ’s going to get put on the mat over and over, and eventually a bomb is going to drop from the top, and that will be the beginning of the end…said it before, saying it again, Rush will pound BJ the F#*$ out!

You’re not wrong about BJ, he’s a great fighter but he won’t beat GSP, simple as that. If he does i’ll be the first one to admit I was wrong, then i’ll eat live rattlesnake on youtube.

That’s a pretty significant risk for a fight that could easily go either way. I’d recommend just dropping $25 or $50 on BetUs.

Hal you can hate on my name, but i’ve been an avid PRIDE supporter for a long time, they were once as dominant as the UFC. I got no hate for GSP, how can you not acknowledge his pure athleticism and professionalism..I know hes improved exponentially, but I have to support my boy BJ Penn..As long as his conditioning is superb, he can win this fight..Regardless, both fighters will display great take down defense, excellent use of the jab, and heart in the cage tonight, simply as that..Its gonna be one hell of a fight, I’m pumped!
