Stephan Bonnar no stepping stone for Jon Jones at UFC 94

Props: Las Vegas Sun
Quoteworthy:
"I've been anxious to get back in there. I'm glad it's finally here. I'm getting kicked in [my knee], grappling with it. It's fine. It's holding up.... He [Jon Jones] knows this is a big shot, I know he's gonna come ready and look to bring it. I'll be ready for it.... I got a good game plan, I know his strengths and my strengths and how we match up and what I got to do to win. I'm gonna follow it and do my best but hopefully I can catch him with a knockout or submission early."
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season one light heavyweight finalist -- the second half of the dynamic duo who helped catapult the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) into mainstream consciousness back in 2005 -- is set to return from a serious knee that kept him on the sidelines for more than one year. "The American Psycho" will attempt to hand undefeated up-and-comer Jon Jones his first professional loss in mixed martial arts at UFC 94: "St. Pierre vs. Penn 2" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's a huge opportunity for Jones to make a name for himself against a high-profile veteran like Bonnar ... especially if cage rust and the knee injury are factors.

I could see both them slugging it out and this turning into fight of the night.

You hit the nail on the head. Cage rust and injury vs relative inexperience. I think Bonnar wins, but it is hard to say if the injury will affect him. Of course he says it’s fine.

I’ve been riding the Jon Jones bandwagon since his debut. That dude gets major creative inside the cage, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for Bonnar (who, in my opinion, has one hell of a chin) so I see this as Jones via split decision.

Dude the guy has fought bums until now. The seven guys he has beaten have 11 wins between them!

I just had a flashback of the Evans vs Bonnar fight when Rashad took him down at will and Bonnar wasn’t able to do anything. He better come out agressive or I’m going to have to second guess my first prediction.

Yes it should for sure. Im sure there will be quick fight or two so they should have time to show the Fitch fight. Im looking forward to seeing him back in the cage, I think he is gonna beat Gono up.

bonnar is better then JOnes at everything! If Bonnar is losing the stand up[ which I doubt! He can always take Jons down and quickly out class him with his wrestling!

Correction: Out class him with his High level Ju JItsu!
Lets keep it real, Jones has a very exciting style, but he is a NOvice who I dont think has even been training for a year yet. THats not going to get it done against a seasoned Veteran like bonnar, even if Bonnar does have some Cage-rust!
I think Bonnar will be able to win this fight whenever he wants, but I hope it doesnt end quickly. Like Shogun, bonnar needs to put some work in during this match to shake of the rust. I hope he gets at least 10 minutes of work in before submitting this kid!
Terrible match up by Joe Silva. These 2 fighters are not even close to being on the same level! NO win situation for Bonnar!

Has anyone ever seen a fighter more shredded than jones in that pic?

Bonnar’s gonna show JJ that he better learn to walk before he runs. IMO. Bonnar can win this fight standing or on the ground.
